@@markmac2206 the one with Will Smiths son? Yeah, it sucks. Jackie Chan should never have agreed to that, I think he was just nostalgic about the old one, the way he talked about it makes me think that.
I went and saw this movie in '84 the line was wrapped around the block the only sold out movie I've ever been to. Mr. Miyagi's been a part of me for almost 40 years and now he's a part of the "Homies" too.♥️
That anniversary scene just changes from when you were a kid to when you've grown up. Mr Miyagi lost his family, but his friendship with Daniel grows into something greater than teacher and student. And then Daniel quietly bowing in respect before leaving. 👌
This!!! I watched this as a kid and saw my mom about to cry. I didn't understand until I grew up. Now that scene gives me goosebumps and makes me tear up. 🥹 They don’t make movies like these anymore.
I'm really glad you guys enjoyed this movie. I remember it when I was a kid, it was one of my favorites. The second one is almost as good and expands on the relationship between Daniel and Mr. Miyagi even more.
This movie was such a big part of my childhood. It never fails to hit me in the feels. And I think it holds up well because they did a good job with the character development vs some other movies that would probably breeze past a lot of little moments in this film. Even the ending where they give the cobra kai students lines that illustrate a bit of their humanity, rather than just leaving them as cartoonish bad guys, really helps round out the film for me. This movie was an instant classic.
This one of my favorite movies from my childhood, I used to watch it every time it was on television. A true 80's classic, it has everything a movie should have in it. Loved all of your reactions, it made me emotional as well, thanks for sharing!💯
You ve just seen an important piece of cinemas history. One thing I like about these characters is that both daniel (protagonist) and Johny(antagonist) are hotheads and impulsive, so theres only a thin line that separates them both from being the same.
And when I was a kid I never quite caught just how much Johnny and even that other Cobra Kai that he told to take him out of commission, both really didn’t want do it. Partly because he didn’t want to be disqualified, but I really felt like Johnny seemed shocked when he told him to sweep the leg and looked really uncomfortable with it.
I heard a rumor that the guy who played the bad guy literally tried to start a fight with some other guy who wanted to be the good guy but the karate people on the set kept it under wraps.
Elizabeth Shue (Ali Mills in the movie) is actually a really good soccer player, she played on boys teams because there were no girls teams back in the 1970's. She made a movie about it called "Gracie". Her brother, also an actor, played professional soccer. For a fun movie with Elizabeth check out "Adventures in Babysitting", for a more serious role watch "Leaving Las Vegas".
The Karate Kid was always one of my 90's childhood favorites! This movie definitely taught some real life lessons like balance as Mr. Miyagi taught Daniel here and yes he sorta DID become like a father figure towards him in a way. I imagine Bruce Wayne (Batman) definitely needed a mentor like him after what happened to his parents. Anyway be sure to do THE KARATE KID PART 2 next asap!
I love the scene where Daniel bows even though Mr Myagi is passed out drunk. He sees the medals he got in WW2 and finds out some of what he went through with losing his wife and child. Respect for his teacher. A touching moment.
14:48 the director said that there were never any notes about Johnny rolling a joint. Until he said that I had no idea he was doing anything in that scene, so focused was I on the hose.
Personally, I think Daniel shows how down-to-earth he is, after winning the tournament he says "Hey Mr Miyagi, we did it." He didn't say 'I did it..." In my city this movie played in the theaters for a very long time, and then they replaced it with something else. About a year later, they started showing TV commercials for it "...in theaters now..." and they brought it back and showed it in many theaters again! Yes, people lined up to see it a second or third time!
The sensei of the cobra Kai dojo was trained by Korean martial artist called Kim sun yung. During the Korean War he trained American soldiers, his ways are controversial, based on brutality and deception, showing no honor, no mercy.
Ty for the reaction ladies, very kool!. This movie is one that I grew up with and remains as one of my favs. Such a pleasure seeing you all react to this awesome classic.
I was 23, and had just made red belt in Karate / Tae Kwon Do, and went to go see this with some of my Dojo friends… the theater was packed, and when Daniel made that final kick at the end, the whole place erupted with cheers. Kind of like the one you three gave when it happened! Great movie, Great reaction !
Now you can watch the first episode of Netflix's Cobra Kai (S01E01) which shows some deleted footage of the ending of Karate Kid and tells things from Johnny's perspective, so some degree. Really good show!
Fun fact: at 16:11, that roundhouse kick to the head was actually real. Accidental, I think, but it did connect. Ralph's (Daniel's) reaction to that was completely authentic.
I was always confused as to why Ali was angry with Daniel at the arcade. I assumed that it was because Daniel hadn't told her about the tournament. I found out later that there was a deleted scene outside of the country club where Daniel angrily accused Ali of using him to make Johnny jealous before storming off.
Good thing we're in the age of feminism where women fuck around like men, don't want children and initiate divorces 80% of the time.. Women are ruining the family.
It really is. The whole series kind of is. Because, strip away Johnny and Daniel to their core selves, they actually start out their stories as the same kid. Both outsiders, sons of single moms, looking to fit in. Johnny turned out the way he did because his step-dad turned out to be abusive and his mother died soon after marrying him. Daniel turned out how he did because he not only had a loving mother, he also gained a wise and loving father in Mr. Miyagi.
Great reaction ladies might I suggest another great movie with Ralph Macchio (Daniel) My Cousin Vinny. It's one of my favorites from the early 90's very funny.
I saw this at the cinema in 1984 (I was 12 😉). I remember people on their feet cheering when Daniel did the crane kick and won. This movie exceeded everyone’s expectations at the time.
Another fun fact: Noriyuki “Pat” Morita, who plays Mr. Miyagi, was known as a comedian who was originally from California. For his performance as Mr. Miyagi in THE KARATE KID, Pat Morita was nominated by the Academy for Best Supporting Actor.
The stunt man for mr miyagi is an actual high ranking martial artist named Fumio Demura. He is a 9th Dan black belt in Shito ryu karate and a living legend in martial arts. He literally wrote the first books on karate weapons to be published in the United States. There is a very good documentary on him called “the real miyagi” that is worth a watch
When Johnny hands Daniel the 1st place trophy. He says your alright Larueso. Johnny was never the bad guy. Johnny was taught Karate by the wrong sensei or teacher. Johnny's sensei is the real bad guy... Fun Fact~Daniel who was played by Ralph Macchio and Johnny who was played by William Zabka. In real life they are best friends...😁
Great reaction! You know the girls loved it when they could get so excited, so moved & so animated about the outcome, never having even heard of the movie before.
Love you ladies. If you really liked this series as much as it seemed like you did, then you should watch Karate Kid II and then discover the Netflix TV series Cobra Kai - it shows them all, Daniel, Johnny and many more all grown up.
if they do 2 but not 3 before Cobra Kai later series of Cobra Kai will not make sense, the next karate kid and the remake are the ones that I am not keen on
The song "You're the Best" that was used during the tournament montage was going to be used in the movie Rocky III. That was until the song "Eye of the Tiger" was written for the music.
I love these "underdog" movies, like Rocky, Karate Kid, Bad News Bears. They all teach the same lesson about having heart and never giving up in the face of adversity and fear. People will respect you if you've got heart, whether you win or lose.
I may be wrong, or that there may be some that I missed, but in my opinion, there are two epic moments in 80's film, that was the greatest of all time: 1) Is, obviously, the crane kick in this movie, and 2) The final dance scene in Dirty Dancing. Epic, epic, epic....
I held the State title here in Colorado from the age of 13 to 16 before I started focusing on football. This movie represents the true tournament atmosphere pretty well
I think an overlooked movie with Ralph Macchio is Crossroads. It's similar to Karate Kid in that you have that father/son/mentor relationship between a lonely old guy and a young guy. The difference here is that this is also a road trip movie and the focus is on the blues instead of karate. :) THere is a guitar duel at the end that is very awesome. .
Ladies -- this was not " one of ", but is THE best movie reaction video I have viewed. Y'all's immersion into the plot and desire that the good guy win was a delight to witness. And the lady in the middle -- I apologize for not knowing her name -- was very insightful. She foresaw a few times what was about to happen. But the other two did also once or twice. Anyway -- it was a blast watching this iconic movie with you all. I look forward to the next one. Keep up the good work.
This was a great reaction and I enjoyed re-watching the film with you guys. I recommend that you watch Karate Kid Part II next. It's a bit different from the first film, as the story is mostly about Mr. Miyagi and what happened to him when he was a young man in Okinawa, while Daniel has more of a supporting role. If you liked the first film, you'll like the second one, too.
Iconic landmark movie. Mr Miyagi is truly a great man in every sense of the word. He's such a good natured, kind, wise soul that when he's drunk and we find out he lost his wife and newborn son while fighting overseas it really hits home, one of the scenes in movies that makes me tear up every time.
Mr. Miyagi and his wife were sent to internment camps during World War II when the United States was at war with Japan. Japanese Americans were held in internment camps and considered enemies even though they were citizens. It was a dark mark in American history. While he served in the military, his wife and unborn child died.
40:40 got to me, he was a protector, teacher, mentor and friend. This moment for me? He was a loving father. Obviously he was trying to look after him from day one but this crystallized it for me.
You all had me on the edge of my seat watching this, it’s why I love Karate Kid reactions! Love how invested you were! 😄 Seriously can’t wait for the sequel!
Loved your amazing and sincere reactions, ladies! I actually saw this movie when it first came out in theatres. I saw it at a drive-in movie theatre in the valley where most of the movie was filmed :)
Wow, Ive seen this movie 100 times and never noticed that Daniel forgot all about his mom on his birthday. Good eye Michelle. Ive seen you and Vicky before but this is my first time seeing Lia. Hi Lia! Damn, there are some beautiful women in Bulgaria!
I loved seeing your reaction to this movie. It’s so wonderful to see the joy that you feel watching it for the first time. This was so great back then when all my friends and I saw it in high school
Johnny: It was the summer of '82. "Rocky III" had just come out. My buddy Dutch was a huge Mr. T fan, so we went to the local theater to check it out. Sitting in front of us was this group of cute chicks, eating popcorn. Dutch started throwing Milk Duds at them. Miguel: What? Why would he do that? Johhny: Because it's an alpha move, man. Babes love when you treat them like crap. Anyway, eventually, the girls got so pissed off, one of them stood up and started yelling at us. That's when I saw her for the first time. Miguel: Saw who? Johnny: Ali. She dumped popcorn all over Dutch, got butter all over him. [Miguel giggles] I could tell right away, man, this chick was a firecracker. Miguel: So did you ask her out? Johnny: Yeah, I hit on her a few times till she gave me a chance. We went to Golf N' Stuff for our first date. Kissed on the Ferris wheel. We were madly in love. Dated for 2 years. For, uh, Valentine's Day, instead of rings, I gave her this pink jelly bracelet. She gave me this. [headband] Miguel: So then what happened? Johnny: Summer before my senior year, we got into a fight. I figured we'd work things out eventually. Then Daniel LaRusso came to town. Next thing I know, he's hitting on her. I see the two of them flirting with each other. Miguel: What'd you do? Johnny: Well, I walked over to have a civil conversation with Ali. But LaRusso kept butting in. I told him to get lost, mind your own business. Out of nowhere, the guy sucker punches me. Miguel: What an [beep] Johnny: I know, man. I did what any dude would do, I defended myself. You know, I figured that was that. LaRusso wouldn't leave it alone. At the Halloween dance, I was sitting there, minding my own business, he douses me with a water hose. I haven't seen the guy in months. Frickin' turns a water hose in my head! So I chase him down, try to put an end to things that night, right? Turns out the guy's got a karate master of his own. Guy comes out of nowhere, jumps us, assaults me and my friends. I think my buddy Tommy got brain damage 'cause of that fight. Miguel: Oh my God. Johnny: Eventually, we decided to work things out at the All-Valley Tournament. So we both made it to the finals. It was 2-2. Miguel: What--what happened? Who won? Johnny: LaRusso won, I lost. But what's worse is that I lost Ali. Miguel: Yeah. Johnny: Alright, the reason I'm telling you all this is 'cause you gotta watch out for the LaRussos.
Karate Kid 1, 2 and 3 are necessary before the "Cobra Kai" series. "The Next Karate Kid" has Mr. Miyagi but not Daniel. He trains Hillary Swank to defend herself. 2010s "The Karate Kid" (kind of a reboot) has Jackie Chan as the Mr. Miyagi character but named Mr. Han.
I was 14 and went opening night on my first date!!! I'll never forget that afternoon. Not to mention I lived in the San Fernando Valley two towns over from Reseda. A magical time.
I think this might be the best reaction you guys have done so far. Or at least my favorite. You all were so invested in the movie and it came through so strong. I hope you choose to continue the series and do Karate Kid II and III and then start on the Cobra Kai series. They're all amazing. I tried to get Magy to do them too, but she hasn't gotten to any of them yet.
Glad y’all watch this!! Now you need to watch kk2 kk3 and the next karate kid. After the films you can start watching Cobra Kai on Netflix because it’s a continuation. 👊🏼
Hey Michelle - me and my bro were actually at the original Golf n Stuff yesterday by accident 😅👍🏼 we pass by it and recognized it The only thing missing was the water slide…
When Daniel asks if Mr. Miyagi was ever scared and Miyagi says "always scared to fight"...i always thought Miyagi was reflecting on his fight during WW2...where as Daniel was merely talking about Karate fighting. :( the way Miyagi says he was always scared
There are 5 Karate Kid movies: 1. The Karate Kid 2. Karate Kid part 2 3. Karate Kid part 3 4. The Next Karate Kid 5. The 2010 remake staring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan
PAY ATTENTION LADIES. Something YOU may not be aware of. The scene you thought may have the funny outtakes w Miyagi drunk. In real life America locked up all the Japanese Americans 4 fear they may be spies during WW2. They were put into concentration camps & only the men could leave if they agreed to fight for the US in the war. All their homes & belongings were lost. Miyagi lost his wife & unborn child while at war fighting for the Allies. It's a VERY sad scene. If you've heard of the band Linkin Park, one of their members wrote a song about it under fort minor, called kenji. Recommend looking it up. Also part 2 & the cobra kai series r great! 3 doesn't have the feels.
Daniel: She's a beaut, huh? Miguel: Oh. Uh I don't usually see cars like this where I live. Daniel: That's what I thought too. When Mr. Miyagi gave me this car, I was the envy of all Reseda. Miguel: I didn't know you're from Reseda. Daniel: When I first moved out here, my mom and I didn't have 2 pennies to rub together. Things were different back then. I was jealous of all country club kids like Johnny. Miguel: Sensei was a rich kid? Daniel: Yeah, he lived up in the hills. You didn't know that? I'm sure he must've told you all about our time back in high school? Miguel: He did. Sensei Lawrence told me about how you beat him with an illegal kick. Daniel: Hey, hey, hey, the rules state anything above the waist is legal. Besides, you used that same kick in last year's tournament, right? What else did Johnny tell you? [skip] Daniel: He said I sucker-punched him? Did he not mention the fact that he knocked me down first? Miguel: You were moving in on his girl. Daniel: They hadn't talked in weeks. I had no idea Johnny even existed when I got to that beach. All that I knew was that he broke her radio. She was upset. Miguel: Huh. Daniel: I was being chivalrous. Miguel: But what about Halloween? The water hose? Daniel: What? The water...These guys were beating the crap out of me every other...The water hose was the least of it, believe me. And it was just sitting there. It was so teed up. Trust me, if you were in my shoes, you'd have done the exact same thing. Johnny clearly overreacted to that. Miguel: I think Sensei was just upset because Ali was his first love. Daniel: Well, she was mine too. There was just something about her. I thought she was the one. I guess Johnny felt the same way. And that's what started all this.
I hope you will watch them all! Mr. Miyagi is in The Karate Kid II and III with Daniel,--and in The Next Karate Kid, where he trains a girl. Your dog is so CUTE!
Just as the great Sylvester Stallone will always be remembered for portraying the iconic Rocky Balboa, Ralph Macchio will always be known and remembered for making the Daniel LaRusso character iconic and his...!!!😎😎😎😁♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I’m glad I requested this movie for you guys I knew you’d like it. Now you need to watch Cobra Kai the tv show to see how Daniel took care of Miyagi until his end. Also Ralph Macchio still owns that yellow car, the director gave him the car after filming was done.
brilliant movie from childhood, a lot of movies back then really had great messages in them. this one and dragon heart and cool running always stuck with me. u really shud watch those 2 as well if u get chance
"Everyone need a Mr. Miyagi in their life."
Wise words from Michelle.
The world would be a much better place if everyone had a Miyagi in their life.
Daryl-Son!
You Much Humuh!!!!

Well, we do have Joe Biden. He is kinda like Miyagi.
So everyone needs a Miyagi to guide us and a Sam to support us.
Do the whole trilogy plus cobra Kai series. You're gonna love them

Karate Kid was one of those movies that everything aligned and came together in one movie
The production gave Ralph Macchio (Daniel) the yellow convertible car as a gift when they finished the movie. He still has it to this day.
And the trophies, bandana
That kick at the end was one of the few times I can remember as a kid, seeing a film in the theater, where people actually stood up and cheered.
?
Now that you're on board, there's no turning back. I hope you check out the other films and then watch Cobra Kai. The fifth season will arrive soon.

Mr Myagi was so iconic. Super quotable words of wisdom throughout.
Fun fact, no one in this movie actually knew karate during filming, except one person. That was the ref for Daniel and Johnnys fight.
Mr. Miyagi and his wife were sent to internment camps during World War II when the United States was at war with Japan. Japanese Americans were held in internment camps and considered enemies even though they were citizens. It was a dark mark in American history. While he served in the military, his wife and unborn child died.
I’m from Downey, CA where Golf N Stuff is located, and it is still up and running! Love your videos! Cheers!
😄 Seriously can’t wait for the sequel!
this film is just a small piece of what made the 80's such a beautiful decade.
This is a classic! 💯 After watching Part 3, you should also look up Cobra Kai (2018)! 🐍🥋
Loved your amazing and sincere reactions, ladies! I actually saw this movie when it first came out in theatres. I saw it at a drive-in movie theatre in the valley where most of the movie was filmed :)
One of the all-time greats much love girls ❤👍🥋... every time I see the scene where Mr.Miayagi tells Daniel all life must have balance.. so true
Daniel first seeing Johnny at the dojo is a perfect GIF of how puberty feels
42:40 We all love ❤️ & miss you 😢 Pat Morita.
After you watch the movies, the Netflix series called Cobra Kai continues this story with the original characters, it's amazing
You answered my question!
You’re not speaking English off camera..
I knew it!! Love you Ladies!
Have a beautiful day!!!
Love your reactions to your videos. So genuine and pure. ❤keep making these videos! You just got a new fan!
I loved seeing your reaction to this movie. It’s so wonderful to see the joy that you feel watching it for the first time. This was so great back then when all my friends and I saw it in high school
Please do the whole trilogy. You’ll love them.
[headband]
Miguel: So then what happened?
Johnny: Summer before my senior year, we got into a fight. I figured we'd work things out eventually. Then Daniel LaRusso came to town. Next thing I know, he's hitting on her. I see the two of them flirting with each other.
Miguel: What'd you do?
Johnny: Well, I walked over to have a civil conversation with Ali. But LaRusso kept butting in. I told him to get lost, mind your own business. Out of nowhere, the guy sucker punches me.
Miguel: What an [beep]
Johnny: I know, man.
Cobra Kai series on Netflix is amazing, continues 30 years after the movie.
Han.
This movie was a great influence on me during childhood
I moved from Newark to SLC, UT in 1984 when I was 6. Relatable movie to say the least.
31:30 She said "Hey" like she was scolding him like if he was her son lol
That spinning kick at 16:23 genuinely hit Ralph Macchio.
I was 14 and went opening night on my first date!!! I'll never forget that afternoon. Not to mention I lived in the San Fernando Valley two towns over from Reseda. A magical time.
I was 15 years old when this movie came out. It had a lot of us thinking we could learn Karate by doing this & a lot of us got beat up too.
@@Montana-tw7imEither "wax on, wax off & paint the fence" doesn't work in real life or the other guys were better.
Just found your channel. Subbed.
Love your vibes!
Loved your reaction to this film. You're right, we all need a Mr Miyagi in our lives!
My first date with my ex-wife was at Golf 'n' Stuff. Despite us getting divorced, that first date is still a good memory.
45:09 "With your new car? Really?"
I like this woman
There are 5 Karate Kid movies:
1. The Karate Kid
2. Karate Kid part 2
3. Karate Kid part 3
4. The Next Karate Kid
5. The 2010 remake staring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan
Just to say. Kicks to face is fine. Punches to face are not. At various points in tournament, Johnny and Dutch got points for kicks to face/ head.
EVERYONE NEEDS A MIYAGI IN THEIR LIFE!
[skip]
Daniel: He said I sucker-punched him?
Great classic! KK 2 is also good...
other classics:
Kickboxer
The Cable Guy
Dirty Dancing
Independence Day
🙄
Seeing the dog on your couch during your reaction was precious !
👁👁 At 46:03 the actor with the dyed blonde hair is Chad McQueen, the son of a very, very famous American actor icon: Mr. Steve McQueen
Well don't forget karate kid part 2 and 3 they are essential
Need part two and three or it won't make sence
brilliant movie from childhood, a lot of movies back then really had great messages in them.
