Hi. Just wanted to compliment 1stgenoffroad for the episode 4 video. It's the best done instructional video I've ever seen. Fun to watch and full of great info and camera work and music also great. I may try doing the rear shocks and springs on my 2004 Sequoia with 290K on it. I'd be using OEM stuff, since I'm just a regular road guy. Thanks. Bob T
Hey Josh, I dig your videos, lots of great information in them. Your camera work is amazing, especially since it looks like you're doing all your own setup work; must take a long time to do and take a lot of extra effort. Wanted to throw this out there. Don't know if this is true for the OME 2862, but ARB springs are usually marked "A" for the drivers side (North America) and "B" for passenger. "A"s are usually longer by a bit and help compensate for the weight of the fuel tank located on the drivers side. I think you may have mentioned it the other way around in the video.
I don't know where the springs shipped from because I didn't pay attention to that detail but I ordered on Friday and they arrived at my house Sunday. And to think I was going to order them from amazon thinking they would arrive sooner. NOPE. 1stgenoffroad was way faster as Amazon was predicting delivery on the 19th. Thank you so much. next stop... install
I’ve heard if u disconnect the sway bar link it drops the rear end down lower so u probably wouldn’t even need a spring compressor tool for the 2 inch springs
Now that it's warmer during the day in Texas. I can install my lift 😂 springs are so large. Wasnt sure if i could install it with the compressors on. 👍
Hey did the front end lift on my 2002 sequoia and love it. The rear I had new shocks and adjustable airbags in the coil springs. Was thinking of changing coils to give 2 inch lift and putting the airbags inside the new springs so I have 1000 pounds extra capacity. What do u think?
I will be installing Bilstein 5100's on both front and back of my 07 Sequoia Limited 4wd. Will also replace stock coils with Eibach 1" inch lift coils since the rear Bilstein's have a 0-1" lift capability. My question what Bilstein 5100 model number should I use if I want to put OME 2862 coils? I don't think my current rear Bilstein's will work since it only has a 0-1" lift.
Hey Josh, what do you recommend in the 1st gen sequoia to reduce body roll? I finished the lift with arb springs in the rear, bilsteins all 4 corners and 33 BFGs. Looks sweet and rides nice but rocks back and forth a bit as you roll down the road.
Consider extended sway bar links. Fronts: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p873/Suspension-Maxx-Extended-Sway-Bar-Links.html And rears: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p1037/SuspensionMaxxRearExtenededSwayBarEndLinksSequoia.html

Loving these videos. Been binging them all day. Any current specials or discount codes for someone that is late to the party? I'm looking to go a little crazy on my new "to me" 2001 Sequoia! Either way, thanks for all the tutorial videos. They are great!
Are the rear springs sided? One of my 2862 springs is about a 1/2 inch taller than the other. I'm thinking the taller goes on the drivers side to compensate for the driver and fuel tank???
Just Foud you after fighting on my way try to do conversión 2005 sequioa with airbags to springcoils its to hard im done just the driver side tomorrow I do the way u do the other side thanks buddy
What can you say about swapping the factor rear air suspension out for this setup? They way I understand it you just need to add a set of hollow springs and insulator to the top of the new spring.
Does it feel like you have to change out your upper control arms because on my 02 sequoia with the same 5100 lift i have a slight driver's side vibration feel. Ive got new ko2s and switched out lower control arms tie rods both inner and outers and lower ball joints. Along with sway bar links. ???? Im not sure what it could be? Any suggestions
Any time you change the front suspension, you need to align the vehicle. And any off road tire will have a rougher ride than a normal street tire. But so far I haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I can answer.
I would recommend finding a good mechanic and letting them take a look. So far I haven't experienced anything like that. And without actually seeing, feeling and driving, I can only guess. Keep us posted!
I just got 5100's in the rear of my 02 Sequoia, I wanted to purchase the spring coils but I understand you took them off. Is there a particular reason why I may not want this shock in the rear??
When I first put them on, it was the general consensus that these would accommodate a 2” lift. I realized that they were too short. I took them off and swapped them out for longer shocks.
Great Video Man, i just subscribed to your channel and we’ve been friends on instagram if you own the 1st gen off road anyway what did you use for the front? Just the shocks bilstein 5100?
Hey buddy, yes. Instagram @1stgenoffroad. When I made this video I was running Bilstein 5100s on the 3rd notch with factory coils. When I added the new bumper, it added about 150lbs to the front end so I upgraded to Icon Coilovers with a 700lbs spring. But if you’re not running a steel bumper or winch, I think the Bilstein 5100s are great.
Hello, just did a coil conversion I expecting the banging of my bump stops to the axel to disappear with installing bilstein shocks and the new coil but the still smacking. What do you suggest?
Very enjoyable video. I'm looking to convert my 05 sequoia from the air springs to just regular height coil springs. I saw in your video that you already had coil springs on yours. I was just curious if you knew where i could find the springs to put on. I've looked all over and can't find any for the regular ride height.
Im just install junkyard ones of 2002 sequioa on my 2005 with air bags I just order kyb shocks and I send then back cause the top thread 1 inch smaller of stock so I cant tigh up all day down

Can you tell me more about the ARB vs Icon vs Bilstein vs Dobinsons in the rear? What about the springs? ARB vs others? Progressive shock vs linear? Looking for the best setup for my 03 over stock.
2 options for springs, ARB and Dobinsons. Both are great. Both offer progressive and linear options. Dobinsons probably has more Options. But anything from 1.75” - 4”. For shocks you have many more options. Bilstein, ARB, Dobinsons, Icon, Fox, etc. I think you get what you pay for. Icon and Fox come in full coilovers and range from 0-3” in the fronts. They are rebuildable.
Hi, Josh. @ 08:28, are those isolators new or were they on the truck already? I'm planning to convert from air to spring this weekend. I have an '06 Sequoia Limited and don't think it has those isolators and might have to buy them if I can find them.
Good morning... a few questions??? The link for the rear Bilsteins are to a 2" Fj Cruiser shock. Is that correct? Also, why did you change to the ARB shock? Was there a noticeable performance change from Bilstein to ARB?
Performance is way better. The Insteon FJ shock is way too short. Toytec still uses it in their Boss kit. That’s why I thought it might be a good idea in the beginning. But it’s not a good idea. Anyone who truly knows these trucks will ttell you.
I have a 2001 Sequoia. I am ready to purchase shocks and coils. I want to gain 2-3" total. What do you recommend? ARB complete suspension kit on your site or Bilstein 5100 with Dobinson coil on front and ARB with coils in the rear? Once I do it I will not have the money to do it again... My wife won't let me LOL. I want to learn from your expertise and trail and error.
just subscribed to your channel. I just bought a 2005 SEQUOIA, the year with a little more power on the 4.7 for the 1st gen., 155k miles for 4000 dollars. Its NOT 4wd but I was wondering If its still good for off road? thanks
Don't know if you are still replying to comments but I was wondering what your front and rear heights were after installing 5100 and stock coils in front and 5100 and OME862 in rear. Was the truck level or a bit higher in the rear. I have 5100 in front and rear but I pull a boat trailer and would like a stiffer coil in back but really don't want much more height.
There was a slight nose down rake. Check the next video where I add the tires and wheels. Skip to the end. It gives you a better look at the truck: ua-cam.com/video/CtR6HpLV3OA/v-deo.html
How do I know if I should replace my front springs when adding new shocks? I have an 02 I think they're original, also, why don't you use bilstein 5100 fronts anymore?
The 02 is 19 years old now. I would go ahead and replace the springs. Bilsteins aren't too bad. I took them off when I put the heavy bumper on. Then I put them on my Tundra. Then I took them off the Tundra and they're going on the 3rg gen 4Runner. They're not bad for the money, but there are better things out there.
@@1stgenoffroad Thanks. For someone who doesn't off road and only hits dirt roads 5% of the time they should be ok right? I just want to level off the front and replace the leaking struts.
Yes. Bilstein 5100s, factory springs, set to the 3rd notch in the front. Bilstein 5100s in the rear with OME 2862 rear springs. I took the rear shocks off in a hurry because they are too short.
I have a gen 2 sequoia and my rear is sagging what do you recommend I use it to pull a travel trailer that’s about 5600 lbs with a weight distribution hitch and the trailer has tandem axles . Thanks any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙏..
If it only sags when you tow, add some air bags to the springs and inflate them when you tow. Or if the springs are worn out and you're sagging all the time, and If you don't mind a little lift, think about Dobinsons 1.75" lift here: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p581/DOBINSONSLiftKitToyotaSequoia2008to2018.html#/
I think Harrison means remove the four bolts holding the sway bar to the axle. I didn’t see you try those in the video, sorry if I missed it. Or maybe they just looked too rusty to attempt. Great vid Josh
This is an older video. I removed these shocks and added these old man emu shocks: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p196/ARB_Old_Man_Emu_60020L_Nitrocharger_Sport_Rear_Shock_-_2001-2007_Sequoia.html
Good job! When I started working on my 2007 & 2005 Sequoias there wasn't much info out there. My 2007 was straight forward for the rear but the 2005 had rear air and I had to engineer a fix. For both my ARB springs settled so I reinstalled the RevTek rear Polly spacers. I'm having lots of body roll on the 2005 that had rear air. The 2007 handles like a sports car (not litterally but compared to the 05) I just installed new Bilstein 5109s all around and it's a bit better. I'm thinking maybe I should upgrade the sway bars? Thoughts? I can't find anything on the web about the 2007 upgrades compared to the 2005 to explain the difference in handling. Any advice is appreciated. I can give more information on removing the rear air computer controls and components if anyone needs. Keep it up!
Nice work with removing the air bags. What did you use for the rear spring insulators when you took out the air bags? Toyota OEM insulators are expensive. And did you throw any dash light codes? Did you have to pull any fuses? I ended up putting ARB 60020L shocks on with the 2862 springs in the rear. Cut the rear sway bar link (too much rust to unbolt). I thought it might corner like a drunk elephant, but honestly, I can't tell the difference.
The springs ride great! Looks great! I ended up getting rid of the rear Bilsteins. They were too short. I swapped them out for the OME shocks. They are about 3" longer and accommodated the lift better. I still have the springs and they're great.

0-3” in the fronts. They are rebuildable.
The link to the 5100s on Amazon says it does not fit a 2001 sequoia. Is this the correct link or what part # should I look 4
Which set of springs were these, he 2" or 3"? Perfect height. Great video. Subscribed!
Thanks, man! It’s the 2”. www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p25/ARB_OME_2862_Rear_Coil_Springs_%2701-%2707_Sequoia_2%22_Rear_LIft.html
What springs are you running in the front? I'm about to make a purchase
Hi, Josh. @ 08:28, are those isolators new or were they on the truck already? I'm planning to convert from air to spring this weekend. I have an '06 Sequoia Limited and don't think it has those isolators and might have to buy them if I can find them.
Those came with the truck. You can get a set on here: www.1stgenoffroad.com/our-favorites.html
Hi, do you think these coils will fit a 2002 2x4WD Sequioa? Thanks
Yes. Will fit the same way.
@@maranojames Understood. Dollar for dollar, it's hard to beat this kit and has everything you need: 2InchLiftKitDeluxe20012007ToyotaSequoia.html
Hey did the spring seat properly at the top or do I need to buy a top seat or whatever its called
the top spring insulator? Use my same one and it fits fine.
I guess I should've asked first was this a airbag conversion first?Wondering if I just pull the bags out and itll seat properly.
just subscribed to your channel. I just bought a 2005 SEQUOIA, the year with a little more power on the 4.7 for the 1st gen., 155k miles for 4000 dollars. Its NOT 4wd but I was wondering If its still good for off road? thanks
If had add locker too your rear differential that would help alot so you don't get stuck so easy.
@@mrbmd710 thank you so much for your help
@@jayinla228 Absolutely.
So this is bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks in the front with stock spring.
and bilstein 5100 shocks in the back with OME 2" lift springs?
Yes. Bilstein 5100s, factory springs, set to the 3rd notch in the front. Bilstein 5100s in the rear with OME 2862 rear springs. I took the rear shocks off in a hurry because they are too short.
What about the side to side bar do we need to get an adjustable one bar?
For a mild lift like this be do not need a panhard relocation bracket.
Can the old spring be used with this shock? Will it still lift there rear? If so how much? Thanks.
Yes. The rear shocks can be used with the factory springs. The springs give the lift, so you won't get any lift if you don't replace the spring.
How much for this?
What Lexus did you get the springs from
I got them here: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p25/2862Spring.html
Loving the videos keep it up.
Just curious, why did you pull the bilsteins off and swap to ome shocks?
Bilsteins are too short.
Are you getting a lot of noise from your rear shocks since installing the 5100?
No. They were always quiet.
@@1stgenoffroad huh, mine are loud, dealer wants me to go back to the stock rear shocks, they won't rattle.
What about track bar? Sway links exc.?
I'm thinking about replacing my airbags with coils on my 05 Toyota sequoia. Do you have any recommendations for kits?
Im trying to find out the same thing let me know if you found a solution!
shouldve taken the sway bar off wouldve let you droop the axle more
It was too rusty to easily remove. Ended up cutting off the sway bar link ua-cam.com/video/Z9btVVVU_QE/v-deo.html
I think Harrison means remove the four bolts holding the sway bar to the axle. I didn’t see you try those in the video, sorry if I missed it. Or maybe they just looked too rusty to attempt. Great vid Josh
Excuse my ignorance, didn't you install new shocks in the rear already? obviously from this video I don't see that but i'm lost lol
This is an older video. I removed these shocks and added these old man emu shocks: www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p196/ARB_Old_Man_Emu_60020L_Nitrocharger_Sport_Rear_Shock_-_2001-2007_Sequoia.html
Do you run extended brake lines?
I had to remove the E-brake retaining bracket, but no need for extended brake lines.
1stgen and T Hall. It would be great to know how to replace air bags. I have an 06 that I would like to covert. Thanks!
Could i change the rear shocks without having to buy new coils as well?
Yeah I did but the springs start to sag and the vehicles squats. I changed them later on and it was worth it.
@@sandrosilva2515 what do you mean squat?
I currently have a level kit on my 1st gen, can i add the 5100s along with the level kit?
It's okay to do that. Just keep the Bilsteins on the bottom notch.
I just pick up some Coilsprings from junk yard and New kyb struts im gonna do its like more skinners the New struts but let see of no more bumpy drive
Can i use the 5100's whit the OEM rear springs?
Sure can.
Hi bud, how Drive after installation?
The springs ride great! Looks great! I ended up getting rid of the rear Bilsteins. They were too short. I swapped them out for the OME shocks. They are about 3" longer and accommodated the lift better. I still have the springs and they're great.
You guys sell the whole set? Need to lift my sequoia 4 inches front and back? Thx!!
Lots of good options. Use the link. Click on a rig you like and it will tell you how they built it. www.1stgenoffroad.com/rigpics.html#/

email me. Josh@1stgenoffroad.com. I'll talk you through the conversion.
1stgenoffroad Hey, thanks for the reply. Enjoying the vids. What year land cruiser rear coils are you using thks
Do i need to alignment when lifting?
Front for sure.
Great video! Thanks!
Great! Hope it's helpful.

Will this fit on 2wd?
