yeah dj grooves win gives just enough of a ego boost to attempt to take all the conductors wins from him and the conductors win makes him despise his one blemish on his winning streak enough to attempt to take dj grooves only win
I like how the bosses aren't "Do 3 hits, but you have to wait for a very specific time to attack" like in Mario games. Instead they have lots of health but you get lots of opportunity to attack.
Something about you beating all these bosses so skillfully, and then missing the giant ball of floating hourglasses at the end on your first jump is just wonderful.

The aftermath of Snatchers fight is just hilarious and SO GOD DAMNED CUTE. And if it were me, based on the aspects I have seen, mustache girl ain't getting any more time pieces.
The time controlling power of a single time piece is clearly pretty weak, as shown in the first chapter. The reason mustache girl can do so much is because she has hundreds of time pieces. A single time piece isn't going to cause any real trouble.
I felt more sympathetic towards DJ Groove because he wasn't trying to put you in serious danger or record you without your permission for the sake of good film content. I'm willing to bet if they were both real people, employees would prefer working for someone who doesn't shout at them in a thick Scottish accent all day. I absolutely agree with you on Mustache Girl. We've seen how badly any sort of power corrupts her. The first thing she thought of when she got her hands on a time piece after realising what it could do, is how she could steal more of them.
Thats because she was also aware they were spilling onto the planet in the masses. Personally? I wouldn't mind giving her one just to survive the Mafia. It seems to fit the main character's personality anyways; not all that malicious towards others even if they've done awful stuff to them. Or at least she's disguising a really snarky attitude as that. Or both.
That final fight does raise a bit of a question...if a planet's population is mostly "bad guys" (I mean, most NPC's are allies of the bosses), are they still "bad"? I mean, they might just have somewhat reversed opinions of morality, and what they consider "good" could be what we as onlookers consider "bad" and vice versa. And, if that is the case, is it really someone's place to try change that..? Ugh...my head...
Thesaurus Rex Well, mustache kid was just trying to get rid of them, possibly killing some of them. Most of the population would be unsatisfied with that conclusion, as most of the population would be imprisoned or killed, so total authoritarianism wouldn't go well with everyone.
Yea. Mustache Girl also pretty much walked in, declared themselves a god, and killed/maimed anyone who even raised a brow, and deluded themselves with their own self-images of grandeur and justice. Anyone, good or bad, wouldn't want to roll with that
These are probably the best bosses I’ve seen in a platformer in a long time. They don’t use the typical 3 hits and dead gameplay, meaning that they aren’t over within seconds (*cough cough* Mario *cough*) or you aren’t just running around for a long time waiting for them to reveal their weak point. Plus, their attacks are pretty well paced, constantly keeping you on your toes while at the same time not overwhelming you with a constant stream of attacks.
Ha ha, no. Even if the gameplay and mechanics are unique and really fun to play, this game has many, many flaws. Many things just feel weird. Like, why do the directors’ boss battles just feel so out of theme. Or mustache girl’s animation that just look like a blend idle fighting animation. Or why didn’t he include all the boss fights? Where they so bad they couldn’t be considered a boss fight?
Everyone please note that I simply said bosses, not the entire game. Yes, the whole game could use some polishing, but the bosses do seem like a lot of work was put into them.
Well...the magia boss was kinda eh, and Conductor and DJ shared the exact same boss patterns so I'm not sure about that, but they were pretty cool and awesome in their own way.
no they didn't, this game plays nice, and looks nice but it lacks actual content or depth, I finished the entire thing in 10 hours after deliberately spending almost 4 either exploring mafia town or justk ind of standing in my ship talking to someone on discord, ultimately I almost feel cheated of my money.
I honestly laughed at the whole thing involving the kitsune fire spirits and them wanting to die. Note: More or less, finding the fact that them turning out that they want to die when you have a contract to kill them to be a little funny. Which, I do like dark humor here and there.
Why does everyone refuse to give the Conductor a Time Piece? He's so happy when you say yes! True, he then says he can't let you leave because word might get out, but it's the thought that counts!
If hat kid were to control herself and weren’t dependant on our choices, she wouldn’t share any time piece with anyone. Check her diary entires, she is not cute at all from the inside...
Yuanyuan Qu Well, he is the ghost of a prince who gives out contracts, so I'm not far off the mark. Snatcher is a pretty spooky name though. Makes him sound like a boogyman.
The boss fights are amazing, it doesnt feel turnbased at all, it feels perfectly in sync yet perfectly unpredictable. Its absolutely beautiful game design.
even if both fights are the exact same, i kind of enjoy the conductor's battle better, makes more sense that he would be the boss then such a silly penguin.
Huh I had never heard of this game but I have to say it looks exceptionally well made. I like the art style and the music especially is really good, particularly the Snatcher's boss theme.
How can a game look so childish yet be so mature? I never played the game but I'm in love with the characters already! They're so unique and the voice acting is amazing!

One attack to change so that it feels more of their attack for Conductor/Grooves. Conductor: Instead of having him fall with a disco ball, have it be a large train wheel. DJ Grooves: Instead of using the knife attack, have him swing his microphone, string and all, around him while moving towards Hat Kid, as sort of a 'get away from me' attack.
Such an incredible game! So cute and adventurous with great humor! Great job on the bosses! :) Favorite bossfight has to be Snatcher~ Gotta love that song as well!
I love how halfway through Moustache Girl's fight everyone suicides and she's like CRIMINALS! STOP KILLING YOURSELVES! even though she just sends people down deadly pits if she thinks they are "bad guys"
Okay, so I'll be honest. Including the Barrel Battle "boss" while neglecting The Illness is incredibly hypocritical. The Barrel Battle is just a swarm of enemies with a barrel dodging minigame in the middle. The Illness is an interesting way to do a boss, certainly, since each of its three phases are separated throughout the stage. Once you reach the peaks with the flowers, however, the boss has several attacks that grow in intensity as you take down more of the flowers. It's a boss fight that requires reaching the boss while dodging attacks in the vein of Yooka-Laylee's first boss (except executed much, much better...) with the only difference being that the three phases are separated throughout the stage. It's clever, brilliant, and exactly what I'd expect from Gears for Breakfast. And did I mention that the music is probably the best piece in the game? Though its attack pattern itself could use some work. Give it some way to hit you in the air, guys! Hopefully NG+ can fix that, along with making the other bosses have harder patterns as well. Hopefully *someone* uploads a video with this boss included at one point. I'd throw my support to that.
oh, and by the way, the Illness counts as a boss during a Death Wish camera mission, so now it actually *has* been officially confirmed (and Barrel Battle deconfirmed).
Look, he put barrel battle in because its symbol on the map is a skull which represents a boss. The Illness Has Spread is not a single showdown between Hat Kid and a single antagonist in a boss fight form, it is more of a parkour/exploration/dodging level with 3 main objectives. What I'm trying to say is that the majority of The Illness Has Spread is finding and getting to the flowers, whereas the fight itself in Barrel Battle is the main focus of the mission. And for the Death Wish camera candle, I'm sure it includes the Illness simply because it's the main antagonist of the chapter. Also, using that isn't even a valid point since this was made WELL before Seal The Deal was even announced.
Franky Frost I mean the switch supports unreal engine 4 it shouldn't be that difficult. Plus I heard it's easy to port things over to the switch. The game also doesn't look that graphically demanding, I could see it running on something as old as the Wii possibly even the PS2 generation. Though I'm not a programmer so I wouldn't know.
1. spoopy theme (like omega flowey) 2. great personality/backstory (also like flowey and really most of the undertale characters) 3. big-ass creepy smile (flowey) 4. interesting boss fight/dialogue (really everyone) edit: time for amazing chest also said they both are very control-oriented former princes trying to take your soul. so yeah there are some similarities between the snatcher and omega flowey
aww thanks i feel so blessed why are you complaining? undertale is a great game and to me, comparing them is a pretty damn high compliment. (and any media ever that's remotely popular will ALWAYS have a shitty fanbase because people are always assholes in the exact same ways, you can shut up now.)
God, the moment when they sacrifice was so heartwarming! Eapecially the DJ Grooves / Conductor part. The Conductor rarely talks like that, and this just shows how much he cares about the Hat Kid. The two birds crashing into each other was cute, though.
You should put no hat powers into the title instead of just the description, since slow time especially trivializes the final boss it's probably notable enough to put in the title.

Yea. Mustache Girl also pretty much walked in, declared themselves a god, and killed/maimed anyone who even raised a brow, and deluded themselves with their own self-images of grandeur and justice. Anyone, good or bad, wouldn't want to roll with that
The conductor and dj grooves are bad guys?
Thesaurus Rex they used to do bad things, but hat kid changed them basically

How logic works in this game?!?

The Revenger It’s like adrenaline. If you know you’re gonna lose, you decide to give all to it since you probably have nothing to lose at that point

Like hat kid wasnt invincible at that point with all the pons
These are probably the best bosses I’ve seen in a platformer in a long time. They don’t use the typical 3 hits and dead gameplay, meaning that they aren’t over within seconds (*cough cough* Mario *cough*) or you aren’t just running around for a long time waiting for them to reveal their weak point. Plus, their attacks are pretty well paced, constantly keeping you on your toes while at the same time not overwhelming you with a constant stream of attacks.
NinjaMaster909 Mario's is still better tho
Gregg Lee Yeah, go fight Boom Boom, then come back and say that with a straight face.
NinjaMaster909 It is, though. I love Hat in Time, but Mario is more polished

You can see the flashing lights under the wood when fighting the conductor. He put the wood over Grooves' dance floor.
🤔
That's a cool detail.
I think the light is coming from the boiler imbedded in the floor
"Did you just color me blue with my own attack?"
I lost it.
"That can't count, can it?"
ITS SO FUNNY
I love the creativity of the bosses in this game! The devs did a fantastic job.
Well...the magia boss was kinda eh, and Conductor and DJ shared the exact same boss patterns so I'm not sure about that, but they were pretty cool and awesome in their own way.
Nothing we've never seen, but they definitely look fun...
no they didn't, this game plays nice, and looks nice but it lacks actual content or depth, I finished the entire thing in 10 hours after deliberately spending almost 4 either exploring mafia town or justk ind of standing in my ship talking to someone on discord, ultimately I almost feel cheated of my money.
What does cuphead have to do with this game? Both games have cool bosses. That's all there is to it.
You can't compare a 2D game bosses to 3D game bosses
Can I say that the Snatcher is now in my personal list of favorite bad guys? He has such a great personality! :D
Hey there!
Techhunter Talon Yeah he's a fun villian. And he's got quite the backstory too
Agreed, dude! The Snatcher is definitely a favorite of mine. I also enjoy Subcon, as being the only real ghost themed level that I enjoy.
I honestly laughed at the whole thing involving the kitsune fire spirits and them wanting to die.
Note: More or less, finding the fact that them turning out that they want to die when you have a contract to kill them to be a little funny. Which, I do like dark humor here and there.
Snatcher: Yes?! No!? Hello!?! Why aren't you saying anything!?! D:<

I didn't refuse to give the Conductor the Time Piece, but that's because I fought DJ Grooves :p
I think my favorite characters are Hat Girl (Super Cute), Conductor (Awesome Irish accent), and Snatcher (Fun Personality).
his name is actually the snatcher
but yeah contract ghost prince is great and i love his voice as well
Yuanyuan Qu Well, he is the ghost of a prince who gives out contracts, so I'm not far off the mark. Snatcher is a pretty spooky name though. Makes him sound like a boogyman.
'The Boogeyman' is a name that some people refer to him as, actually. XD
Conductor's Scottish lol

The only moment I can talk about,it was nice.
Hi mewtwo
Holy heck you took my challenge! Of course, I knew you were going to pull it off anyways, being the absolute beast at gaming you are.
This game would make a killing on the Nintendo Switch.
The Switch doesn't support Unreal Engine 3, which A Hat in Time uses. I don't know if it ever will actually be ported over.
Vinnie Zipp u right

@5:31 I find it funny that the Mafia mobs are "cheering" at the background; as if cheering for their boss defeat and the girl's victory, really! 😂
Snatcher gave me some serious Flowey flashbacks...
Why do Snatcher and his theme remind everyone of Undertale? I have beaten Undertale twice and I find the two nothing alike.
1. spoopy theme (like omega flowey) 2. great personality/backstory (also like flowey and really most of the undertale characters) 3. big-ass creepy smile (flowey) 4. interesting boss fight/dialogue (really everyone)
edit: time for amazing chest also said they both are very control-oriented former princes trying to take your soul.
so yeah there are some similarities between the snatcher and omega flowey
love you too, dear
aww thanks i feel so blessed
why are you complaining? undertale is a great game and to me, comparing them is a pretty damn high compliment. (and any media ever that's remotely popular will ALWAYS have a shitty fanbase because people are always assholes in the exact same ways, you can shut up now.)
Literally nothin alike, I mean yeah one of the games are actually good tho
Hat kid takes around 6 minutes to beat either Dj grooves or the conductor but they can beat themselves under 5 seconds 36:58
22:59 awsome pac man reference. ('
or he is just mentioning that when bosses turn blue they can get hit
God, the moment when they sacrifice was so heartwarming! Eapecially the DJ Grooves / Conductor part. The Conductor rarely talks like that, and this just shows how much he cares about the Hat Kid. The two birds crashing into each other was cute, though.
Why did Conductor and Grooves punching each other during the Mustache Girl fight make me cry? It's the smallest thing, and it made me cry!
You should put no hat powers into the title instead of just the description, since slow time especially trivializes the final boss it's probably notable enough to put in the title.
