    The round plate with three holes next to the hatch is the mounting for the Ground Zero Indicator (GZI) which was basically a series of four pinhole cameras with three photographic sheets which showed the bearing for a nuclear burst.

    I work as an engineer in the Highlands water related and honestly mate get yer self a gas monitor gas can be released when your feet disturb the water even a lack of oxygen you'll be fucked pals cant come get you they will succumb to it to. They are expensive expensive but worth it

    I sure love the history you uncover in your great Land! I always thought Scotland was a fairly neutral country during Cold War and recent conflicts. very interesting

      It part of the uk and have quite a few important targets from RAF, Navy and Army bases plus the oil and gas industry

      No this is an ROC Nuclear Observation Bunker, not built for survival of the bunker occupants but for the measurement of the blasts.

      @@BKR But presumably somebody would need to be in the bunker for some time to monitor the instruments and avoid fallout..?

    They are all over the UK, they were nuclear sensing posts that could test for radiation spread in the event of a nuclear war.

    We have an ROC bunker near us on the Scottish Borders. They used to use it when my hubby was in the Cadets, many moons ago lol. 🙏🙏👍👍❤️❤️👍👍🙏🙏

    One of the bunkers I visited a couple of months ago was in great condition it still had polystyrene tiles on the roof. That could be whats floating in the water.great find on your doorstep.
