I was gifted the first hardcover for Vinland saga by a friend of mine, but I had just finished the first season and realized pretty quickly that the show was really accurate to the source material so even though the cover and art was gorgeous I never finished it. That was until I finished season two. It’s been years since I watched season one so I took advantage of not remembering much to read that first book and I was totally blown away by the art and the feel of the whole thing. I’m definitely about to start collecting them.

My pick: A Bride's Story is always in hard cover and the art inside is also very beautiful. It's a slice of life in cultures across the silk road but the detail is astounding. I have 100% wanted to collect the Vinland Saga but since I am a student right now, I will have to put that on hold.

some that I love are goodnight punpun’s giant volumes by JBC, with their simple, yet captivating monochromatic art, and the hard cover monster kanzenban volumes by panini, with not only beautiful removable cover art that compliments the story of each volume in subtle ways and complete each other, but a striking all black definitive cover with the gorgeous font in it’s center. This last one will definetly be the first collection I finish, because although I love punpun I don’t plan on putting myself through that kind of emotional trauma anytime soon.
You weren't lying about vagabond, the original set is so hard to find so I gave up even tho I have volumes 1-4 so I just got the deluxe. Even then its stil hard to find, understandable tho since its one of the most beautiful pieces of work inside and out
If you people want a witch themed fantasy manga i really recommend you to Witch Hat Atelier. That manga is so beautiful, it's really a must have to collectors.
I gotta genuinely ask how do you read them? Yes they look beautiful but the pages don’t spread flat and the words/art on the inside pages are obscured. Is it just for look?

They didnt look THAT inconvenient in the store, seems kind of similar to the Berserk leather bounds. You just gotta be careful, like with any hardcover or special edition, I'd imagine

Same with the berserk hardcovers. The junji ito ones are a bit better bc they’re thinner so the sit flat better - I bought those instead.
I just started my berserk journey. I didn’t expect to finish volume 1 in one sitting and wanting more. I’m not sure if I should get the paper backs or deluxe editions…. I just ordered volume 2 and 3, I’m super excited for them to come in.
I like the pun pun mangas if you get all of em you get an image of pun pun and it makes me happy also how they get darker and less colored over time with the story makes me 🤌🤌
One of my favorite collections (light novel, so not a manga) is Overlord. Their covers are so freaking sick, and the spines are awesome especially in Japanese.
Yea the spines of Vagabond are amazing. Berserk is my favourite manga, I have all the regular tankōbons and the deluxe, but the Hellsing deluxe is nicer looking. The bright red faux leather looks amazing and just pops on the shelf. Then I love the bright yellow spines of the perfect editions of Soul Eater. Then Bakemonogatari, each volume is a different beautiful bright colour. Then I love the spines of Akame Ga Kill, black spines with different name colour and the picture is half the length of the spine.
@@Pant10 Bleach art is okay, berserk is good but vagabond outclasses it in every department. For long shonen: one piece has the best art overall, and seinen its vagabond. For short series its probably OPM
I don't have many manga volumes, (maybe 10 volumes over 4 series) and Mashle: Magic and Muscles takes up half of those slots. In comparison to the regular white spines of the other Manga I own, the black and dark colors contrast really well, and they just have a really cool aesthetic.
The BJ Alex prints I have have beautiful full color protector sleeves but if you take them off it's completely black with splashes of accents colors; red, blue, purple - so beautiful 💜
The Vagabond and Berserk hardcovers go so well on my book shelf with all my other books that aren’t manga haha like LOTR and Dune, I also have a bunch of music books that match. Just amazingly well made those edition’s definitely are.
vagabond is extremely popular, the big 3 of seinen are always given as berserk vinland and vagabond and vagabond is common ranked as the manga with the best art ever
You have some good ones in your list, but I would put another one at the top. The magnificent Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind box set edition is the most beautiful manga edition I ever layed my eyes upon. + the story and art are some of the best. Check it out if you have the time and money, truly worth it!
My personal favorite is the Pokemon Adventures covers (specifically collector's edition) Basically they're each a solid color with a Pokeball pattern, and they have a unique font. On the cover is a character and a Pokemon or two.
I dont understand how it takes so long for the berserk people to create those black volumes all the way to the last volume. they wait like a whole ass year per volume. like bro it aint hard to slap 3 volumes together and just release all of them.
That Vagabond one was just... woooow!!! I loved the arts Inoue putted on the side, it was just a great work of Ilustrations and he does a lot of that, dude's really passionate about drawing. The other ones were just regular Volumes with nothing special. For me, i guess i would pick Jojo and Haikyuu, both have EXCELLENT extra arts, i don't even like jojo that much but i love watching his drawings. There's probably many mangas that are more like Vagabond.
I am sorry, but I will be broke if I be doing all of that. Might just pirate all of them. Also, the thick volumes of Goodnight Punpun look so beautiful as well
