In response to what Sanctuary said, I too saw your comment about 'looking ugly' and had a strange feeling wash over me, so I clicked on your profile and what I find is a beautiful man with a good heart. I watched the video, thanks for sharing your video. I know confidence is not easy to come by, I am my worst critic too but if it means anything, coming from a true stranger, you are beautiful inside and out
i am very picky. i will not be with anyone who wants to use me or manipulate me. the only guys that have shown interest in me wanted to do just that. one's personality seems more important to me. i havent had much luck but then again i've only been out for a year. plus i still have a ton of work to do with myself before i can get to the point where i am in a relationship. i think people forget how important that is and they are dying to be with someone to help them feel good about themselves
It’s June 2019, if I understand well, u posted ur story like 6 years ago. I saw hundreds of coming out stories, this one touched me a lot. I would really like to know about you now, 6 years later . Your video was very inspiring, i would really like to see how it went after( parents, brothers & sisters, or cousins and other family members) Thx for what you did for others, I’m sure you helped someone. Thanks a lot.
Don't upset yourself over something you can't control. You may have to apologize for something you have done, but never apologize for who you are. Your video is inspirational. Thank you.
I just wanted to say, you are an inspiration to me. I recently came out about a month ago. At first it was awkward, but now its to the point where people see me as who I was before I came out. I'm still me. I'm still the person they got to know, except they now know one more thing about me. I mean, I have lost some friends. But in the end it was worth it because my family and true best friends have stuck by my side. Thank you for making this video, and I hope you live a beautiful open life.
What you needed in that office was a big, long, close hug. Sadly, that's not seen as professional, but the nature of the human/ Great Ape type beast is that (and a lot of the animal kingdom,) is physical contact- affection. We have so much good chemical compound release that heals the body and the mind through this physical contact. In peak anxiety/ stress and trauma, one needs that physical warm, kindly touch. Hugs.
dear carlos you are a very intelligent, brave and fine young man. how many people of your age are able to speak so eloquently and with so much empathy? i am so happy for you that you finally made the step to accept that one little, yet important, piece of yourself and it is so good to see how comfortable you are now. you are a very, very, very good and decent human being and a role model to all questioning lgbt people. congratulations and thanks for your inspiring video.
There is a link the description to a new video I made on coming out and reflecting on some of the things I said in this video. Feel free to watch it if you were wondering whether or not it gets better after 2+ years
Hey.. Im Raith and I came out at 19! this story is extremely inspiring!! I am now 21 and I feel better and more confident about myself... I dont act gay either.. and lots of people tell me that! I came out my freshman year too! the semester break in between... your very cute btw! Thank you again for posting this wonderful video! :))
thanks for watching and for the comment. know that when you do decide to come out, it will all be on your terms and you get to decide how it plays out. good luck!
>when I see people commenting they're still in the closet I want to give them a big hug I have the same reaction to people on coming out videos, especially when they get emotional or talk about some sad past experience. I've been binge-watching coming out videos for like the past couple of weeks and there are just so many interesting stories (thanks for telling yours, btw) and so many wonderful people telling them that I just want to hug you all. xD You know... it's kinda ironic that during my teenage years (~15 years ago) I sort of had easier time with self-acceptance than a lot of people on the videos I've watched (mostly US/UK/Canada) even though I live in this very homophobic country called Russia. Like, I was bullied in school (for being a quiet nerd) but not much and I don't think anyone really thought I was gay. I don't think I've heard any homophobic jokes, instead my classmates expressed their homopobia in rather funny way: they liked messing with each other by sneakily approaching each other from behind and pretending like they perform... you know. Which was just ridiculous to watch rather than offensive. F-slurs were used in speech pretty frequently though. Then in high school I had those strange occasional "encounters" with 3 guys who were older than me (I was in 9th grade, they were in 11th), who... I don't even know how they noticed me or why the decided to pick on me, but they teased me with "gay" remarks from time to tome. Like "hey, why so sad, did your boyfriend break up with you?", but nothing serious/physical. At some point a girl I was friends with who heard it told me "[leo], it's almost like they're hitting on you" lmao. I've always been an atheist (like my mother) and non-conformist so I kinda just skipped the entire "acceptance" stage. Pretty much the moment I realized I'm attracted to guys (it was when I was 12 or so), I was like "Welp, crap, I'm gay". I never had those "I have to change [because parents/society/hell/etc.]"/"It's not who I am" thoughts. I just admitted it as yet another fact on the long "why I don't fit in" list. I never had any actually close friends so I never needed to come out to this particular group (lifehack! lol) and never feared someone would stop being my friend. I didn't have siblings, didn't have dad, didn't have any important/close enough relatives, aside from my mom, who needed to know about me. And my mom took it well, I told her when I was ~14 (and there was no crying and only like 5-second hesitation before "I'm gay" words). The only thing that tormented me for many years was an enormous crush I had on one of my university teachers who was a perfect human being and my type in every way but for multiple reasons I never dared to do anything about it. And other than that, I never felt like dating anyone at that time and just enjoyed gay films and video games like Mass Effect (Kaidan uwu) instead. Anyway, thanks again for sharing your story. Sending virtual hugs!
Just know this...being gay is just one part of your life your a beautiful person that just happens to be gay. I first had trouble coming to terms with being gay but i finaly realized that I wasnt going to hide my true self away to please social unexceptence. If people cant love every thing about you then they dont truley love you. You are brave to search the truth and accept your true self.
You're so self-effacing. Stop it!! You're smart, well spoken, have substance, and attractive. This is 2016. I hope that you've grown to love yourself and who you are. Stay beautiful.......
I hope that you get a chance to make a video about how did your family find out about it I am sure that was your guidance counselor that I was talking with in the first place. I would let you know if your video about how you come out to your family if there’s a way to see you if not go ahead and make it oh find a way to find that video?
Your are beautiful buddy! But you've got stop being so critical about yourself. But I am thrilled you have been able to come to terms with your sexuality. Being gay is only one part of you. Remember coming out is a process. Be you and own it!
i know. but there isnt something i could say to you in response that would not be misunderstood. either you arent quite fluent in english or you have a simple mind. neither one of course would be through a fault of your own. i can say this. try for a minute to place yourself in my shoes. wait, you cannot since you dont know my full backround of experiences (of course idk yours). so all i can say is that the quesions you've asked me should not have even been asked. hope that makes sense...
Does coming out make you happy? It is your life that you have to live with. No other people will live it for you but yourself, and you don't owe anybody any apologies!
owwww so cute. I have pretty much come out to my brothers and they actually LOVE the fact that they have a gay bro. which is so weird... :/ They are like "Lets go to a gay club together as bros" and Im like "no you dont have to do it for me! lets go to a straight club" But then they are like "dude seriously go **** some guys we dont mind" O.o LOL like uber accepting its weird. :D but my parents are very not accepting. unfortunately but hey they dont have to know right? lol

Being Gay is NOT a choice. Being Bisexual IS a choice, i.e., being attracted to both sexes is a CHOICE. You choose either boy or girl. But being Gay, you're only attracted to the same sex (not a choice). Straight people are only attracted to the opposite sex. If a Straight person argues that it's a choice, all you need to say is the following: "You, who are straight, chose to be with the opposite sex. That means you were attracted to BOTH sexes and CHOSE the opposite sex, right?" You'll then hear a pin drop on the carpet, and he or she will be at a loss for words. God does not make mistakes in his infinite wisdom, where a certain percentage of the population is Gay. Why is a certain percentage of the population left handed, while the majority is right handed? Same analogy. Countless Gay, as well as Straight, are loving, caring, sharing, and productive human beings. Period and end of story.
