      Not sure there, but I do fear that they're setting themselves up increasingly as a boutique marque when it comes to computers, and that would really be a mistake. Product quality has certainly not gone downhill; but product diversity has. While it is very un-Apple to offer a plethora of product like Samsung does, my feeling now is that they're showing the other extreme. The biggest problem with Macbook Pro is the whole "Pro" thing. There is nothing pro about a PC with a 2 GHz dual core processor, 500 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM for 1300 USD. That price is beyond ridiculous.
    And let's not forget the "over 9000" adapters a professional will need to make the damn thing work. You want to use a mouse, no problem, you just need a USB-A adapter, just 9 USD at Apple.com. Do you need to access a NAS at work? You might need an Ethernet connection, fortunately Apple's got you covered, for just 26 USD. Or how about a "AV multiport adapter"? Just 49 USD.
    Fucking joke.

      @SarveshShah 7 років тому +1

      Not entirely true, the OS plays a very big part in CPU Utilization. Mac OS is extremely efficient compared to windows when it comes to utilizing the power that the hardware has. Specs are indeed low, I agree with that.

      TheCagamerda I run a laptop from 2005, 512MB Ram, single core pentium M, 40 gig IDE HDD, so basically, crap these days. However with a lightweight Linux OS like Antix, it does everything I ask it to. I can watch UA-cam, browse the web easily, stream some videos (mostly anime) can easily handle 720P playback from MP4 (UA-cam I get about 480P) and even the battery still lasts me a good hour. So in short, it will only go obsolete when you let it, you could do as Apple says and let it be obsolete in the next 3 years, or do something similar to me and get 11+ years out of it

    • @dreamedofworld

      Justin Noker An hour? That really bad! It's great that you're happy with what you have, but I doubt that anyone who uses a laptop as a portable computer will be able to make that work out for them. Some things, at some point, do become objectively obsolete.

    Apple's heart, brain, and vision died with Steve Jobs.
    All what remains is the empty shell of a once grand company driven by a great leader.
    Let's be honest: what revolutionary new product did Apple produce since 2012?
    New iPhones which are not 5 years ahead, but 2 years behind the competition, iPads and all different shades and sizes which offer nothing new, Macbooks competing with Macbook Airs and Macbook Pros which are everything but Pro...
    Where is the friggin 17" Macbook Pro?! The Macbook Pro we professionals would actually buy?
    Oh, I forgot, there is a iMac Pro now... spacegray, similar specs to the iconic silver version but way way way higher pricetag... and also made in.... China.
    Apple. We were grand with Steve on the helm, now we repeat 1985-1997

      Yes, but trying to grab people's money isn't even close to actually focusing on making money. If you focus on making money, you care about what the audience actually needs and wants, and not just about what you can lure them into buying. Just look at the sales of new macbooks and the iPhone 7 compared to last gen macbooks and iPhone 6 line. They are going down hard with their current money-grabbing model -which is not good for a company "focusing on making money".

    Sadly, I think so. At one point, when Steve was still around, they were true innovators. I used to be a diehard Apple fan, but recently things have changed. They keep regurgitating the same shit over and over, and it's getting old. They aren't listening to people's opinion, what people really want. Steve Jobs really knew what people wanted in a product and played things right, but it just went downhill after his passing. It seems like Microsoft has taken their place, I'm a PC guy now. Can't imagine what Steve would think about Apple now, how bland and uninspiring their products and software have become. Apple fans, like I was at one point, will begin to leave the crowd when they realize other products exist on the market are far better. I do believe we're witnessing the beginning of the end for them.

      So it does not matter one bit that he is not around any more.
      Maybe if Steve Jobs had of put a bit more effort into research rather than stupid lawsuits trying to patent rectangles Apple might actually be able to come up with something new and fresh. Instead they produce the same garbage every year and ask outrageous prices because the new iPhone has some stupid new gimmick that people will use for about 5 minutes and completely forget about.

      "Steve Jobs didn't come up with any ideas." Seriously? Say what you want about Apple or about his personality, but he was a brilliant leader and a visionary. He had a clear trajectory when he came back into Apple which became the iPod, iPhone and iPad, and all three have irrevocably revolutionised society into the world of ubiquitous computing we know today. If he didn't have any ideas, Apple would have never done this, and we'd be waiting longer. Consider an army with a bad general, it would be a disorderly rabble.

    I'm one of those loyal Apple users who switched back to Windows after 8 years of using Mac. - I hoped last years MacBook Pro would be great -> Disappointing. I waited until this year, hoping for a major upgrade -> Disappointing and more expensive than ever!
    Purchased an Acer Laptop. Had more issues with Windows 10 in 30 days than with MacOS over the past 8 years. But no matter how good MacOS is, I cannot justify the price of the new MacBook Pro 15 inch of 2800 Euro (starting price) as compared to it's regular price of 1990 Euro for MacBook Pro 15 inch models.
    I paid 1600 Euro, for my Acer Laptop, and it has a GTX 1060!

      William Wu In the first 2 weeks Win 10 kept freezing after long hours of working. Turned out the Killer Wireless WiFi driver that comes pre-installed, has a memory leak issue. Had to update the driver.
      3 times I have already lost work on in Photoshop and my programming IDE, because Windows automatically restarted to install updates, despite clearly setting to "manually install updates". Apparently Win 10 restarts and installs updates when it goes into sleep mode, which then restarts the system and all the work is lost that was not saved. (on Mac if it restarts or crashes, and you had programs running, almost ALL apps, including Photoshop, will reopen automatically and you can continue where you left off, like nothing ever happened).
      Chrome started freezing on UA-cam after a while. Checking on TomsHardware forum, I had to turn off Hardware acceleration in Chrome. Known issue with Nvidia GTX 10 series.
      Every time I have about 40 items or more in my Download folder, it takes up to 20 seconds to open the download folder. Still not sure how to solve this issue. Seems like some kind of caching issue.
      These are all typical Windows issues. Not directly Microsofts fault, but just common bugs and errors in the Windows world due to the many different hardware and driver options.

    • @shubhamdhal689
      @shubhamdhal689 7 років тому +1

      Well even i had the same issue , have you arranged the items in your downloads folder by date.The problem is windows considers all the the files as photos and searches the file info for date , hence takes a lot of time to load the folder ( not sure about the specifics , read somewhere online) , best fix would be to arrange by date modified or date created.I have 300 + item sin my downloads folder and it opens instantaneously with the files grouped by date , earlier it used to take 1 min+ to load

    Design by arrogance is a good way to put it. For a minute there, I had an appreciation for Apple. Problem is, Apple home computers have not been the bleeding edge since they stopped making their own in house cpu's. The second they switched to Intel they became just another PC with a brand name on it. They are no different than buying an Alienware PC. Both are far overpriced for what they can actually accomplish. Only difference is that you can at least still upgrade the Alienware.

      It happened before that, as his shadow leadership slowly took over. You could see it in strange and baffling - if not down right arrogant - decisions made to drop pro features with FCP X, or in the way they were they glued and soldered on things like RAM or batteries - things you need to change from time to time. I see it every day in heightened demands for RAM in new OS updates, and in the drop of driver support for well known cameras, leading to much trouble when using Adobe products. Yeah, I'm a long-time Apple fan, but now I'm switching to something else - preferably something with UNIX in the bottom, but I don't have my hopes up.

      No? The 15 inch still has a quad core. And the 13 inch never had one. It has a 28 Watt dual core, compared to mostly 15 Watt dual cores in Windows ultrabooks. I dont use Macs but these are not slow by any stretch.

      It isn't really an issue for me though. I have an iPhone 7 and it isn't the end of my life having to carry around a dongle since i already usually have a backpack with me and I could also carry it in my pockets. I gotta say, the iPhone 7's vibration motors are also soooo good! Whenever you do almost anythin it slightly vibrates to give you a feeling of it.

      +Emir Tulumcu So it vibrates to mimic a button and you have to carry a dongle to enjoy your music.
      What you're saying is the iPhone 6 is better in every way

    • @imslackingrightnow9765
      @imslackingrightnow9765 7 років тому

      kapil busawah First of all it's better that it vibrates to mimic a button, because it's more durable then. Second of all, I meant whenever you do something like press a button it vibrates to give you a feel that most controllers fail to give you. It's also really fast and the dongle thing isn't an issue.

    The best MacBooks are those released from 2011 to 2012 (non-Retina). The non-Retina MacBooks are more upgradable than their newer counterparts. The Touchbar in the 2016 MacBook Pro looks like the function keys in a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (I think they got the inspiration from that).

But some tech companies are just so scared to accept this trend, just because they might lose customers.

I wish they would sell the OS so that you could use it on anything. I was going to buy a new Macbook, but after seeing the price and the specs...for that same price I can get me a more powerful Razer blade gaming PC that carries the same design and just overall a more powerful PC. The only thing would be the battery life, but now-a-days there are outlets everywhere.

    I really like the Mac OS, but I wanted a laptop that had a numeric keypad, CD-ROM drive, USB 3 ports (Type A USB), and an HDMI port, I also like the 17 Inch laptop, which I ended up getting in the Dell. I would have gone with the MacBook Pro, but it didn't have a numeric keypad, CD-ROM drive, USB 3 ports, or an HDMI port. It just has 4 USB-C ports, which means more adapters, and an external numeric keypad, an external CD-ROM drive. People do need a CD-ROM drive if they get a printer, or the Wacom Tablet (which comes with a CD-ROM installation Disk), I also have some books on Adobe that came with CD-ROMs.
    Then I thought about the I-Mac, it does have 4 USB-Type A ports, an SD Card reader, along with the USB-C ports. I can get a keyboard with a numeric keypad (which I use alot). Then I heard that they maybe upgrading the I-Mac which is great. The MacBook Pro has an 8th Generation 6 Core processor, which a step up from the current I-Mac. (But I do like that it has a Ram Door, so you can upgrade the Ram at a later time. Now that the 9th Generation 9900K (8 Core) processors are out, I hope they are working on the I-Mac 2018, upgrade. This year is the 20th Anniversary of the I-Mac after all. I love the Silver, and also, folks are talking about better circulation (2 fans instead of one), slimmer bezels and less or no chin. I don't need a laptop too thin, that you have to take out too many features, like an HDMI, USB-3, CD-ROM, and a numeric keypad.

    Apple's real market strength is as a joint developer of hardware and software. For instance, if one maker makes the PC and the other the OS, it's always going to be a bodge of sorts to make them work well. Pro audio and video are good examples where critical timing issues can be adversely affected by the necessary driver issues that arise from multi-vendor products.
    The last Mac I used myself a few years back was a desktop yet kitted out with a laptop-style keyboard and touchpad, bizarre as these are the two desktop components I tend to plug in to a laptop- the keyboard I use in from 1990 on a modern PC because it's actually nice to type on.

      Captain Obvious that's not innovation just slightly improving speeds

      Exactly. Thus innovative.

      Captain Obvious very barely innovative. I mean they created nothing just slightly faster speeds. That is not anywhere near innovative enough to warrant it to be called "innovative". Also they don't make the hardware so .....

    It's hard to see the appeal of Apple products when they don't appear to be functionally better than the competition. I think it's a 'lifestyle' or 'fashion' choice although laziness is a factor too. It promises to deliver seamless connectivity across the whole range of devices, so once you've bought one product, it steers you towards other ones because it's not open to connectivity to competitors devices.
    So, once you've been drawn into one product, you're steered away from better alternative complimentary products, because, well, they aren't complimentary if your iPhone won't sync with them.
    Now Apple is making that connectivity less simple, people are starting to look around and find that not only are other phones way better than iPhones, but they're cheaper and you can sync with any other non Apple products. I'm yet to meet anyone who has moved away from Apple and wanted to go back. It's over priced and frankly not that good.

    iPhone 4 and iPad release year was the last great year for them.

      Well the 5S sucks because to get to the home screen you have to tap the piece of shit home button, that will either open Siri, or Voice Control. Yeah, I went to accessibility and activated that, but now I have that on everything. Honestly I really miss the 4S and my Windows Phone.

    I completely agree with you but I have another point to make. Apple is always finding little ways to snatch as much money from you as possible, and one example of that is in the Apple ecosystem. Once you buy an iPhone, an iPad, a MacBook, Apple Watch, etc. then all your Apple devices will work together. And then since the ecosystem isn't supported by other companies, you are basically stuck with no option but to buy Apple devicesfor a very long time, or your other Apple accessories would be basically useless.
