I was once a HTC fan myself and used HTC Wildfire, HTC one x, M7, M8 and HTC10. Their M series was my favourite mainly due to the front facing speaker, solid metal build, build in DAC and beautiful display. However i lost interest any of HTC product after they decide to ditch their iconic metal build with HTC11.
same here. I still have 2 of my palm pilots somewhere. Had a few HTC phones before I started using LG phones. Still using my LG Wing and V60. Don't know what I'll do when these 2 phones die in the future. All other phones look so uninteresting really ....
When you said "Let's see the rise and fall of HTC", I was saddened. HTC has a special place in my heart. From my first ever smartphone HTC Velocity to the reknowned HTC M8 and finally the HTC 10. I've only ever had four smartphones in my life, and HTC makes up 75%. They were amazing pieces of engineering.
HTC phones were my favorite. They had the best speakers I've ever used on a mobile phone and they always felt premium and ahead of their time. I use Google Pixels now but would love for HTC to come back.
Totally I have an M8 but doesn't turn on anymore absolutely loved the 3rd party customization ability Huawei took em out secretly planted some corporate spies easily gained trust and ruined it
Having worked at HTC from 2010 to 2013 doing go to market (GTM)marketing, I would agree with you on a lot of these things, especially on management. HTC management was so f××ked up, undermining how great the product was. I launched about 20 phones for HTC at the time, mainly for the t-mobile account, from the HTC Sensation 4G (fun fact, Peter Chou wanted to call the phone the Passion 4G, I sort of overrode him on that awful name), a bunch of mytouch devices, the Wildfire S, the HTC ONE S and X and the Amaze 4G (sad to see it was mentioned in the video as one of the phones with poor naming convention). I left for Samsung and helped launch the GS4 and Note3 in the US. While the company operations was much more professional, but I definitely felt more like a cog in a machine than the control I had at HTC.
Man...those names bring back alot of memories. Had the HTC wildfire. Didn't have much memory but was a good phone. Wanted an m7 so bad as it was the nicest phone I had ever felt (still is)
I had an HTC Arrive, which was a Windows Phone 7 smartphone with a physical keyboard. It was probably my favorite phone ever because I'll never be as good at typing on a touchscreen as I am with tactile buttons. Paradoxically, though, even though the HTC Arrive was perfect for texting, for some reason it was incapable of splitting up SMS messages into multiple parts. Other Windows Phone 7 devices at the time could do this, so I never understood the limitation.
My first smartphone was the HTC Desire HD and after that i went to LG and then Sony before going to Samsung in 2016. I truly miss the competition between phone manufacturers and not operating systems
Facts i had the 3rd htc evo they put out in 2012. Samsung was in the lead for Android by that time. I got that evo because it looked better than the galaxy s3.

I still remember seeing my friend holding his HTC one phone. Looks sleeker than iPhone 4 I had IMO. Also, my dad had an HTC PDA back in 2008 and I almost always take his phone everytime he was distracted to play some games on it.
satoshiketchump wtf are talking about my iPhone 11 has all that minus the aluminum unibody but like there’s a lot of phones out rn that check off that criteria
I loved my HTC Desire, it was my first smartphone and it was so great. I'd love to see HTC come back at some point with a game changing mobile device and re-establish themselves in the space.
As a 30 year veteran of Silicon Valley, I can tell you that HTC is only one of many who suffered from (mis)management hubris and over--self-confidence in their vision. Never, but never underestimate executive's ability to make the wrong decision!

I loved my HTC One. The aluminum design, always on software, and all around quality were impressive, even the pixel binning technology turned out great photos from the camera!
Except for the budget models. Oh man, I had a Desire 510, I think, and oh god was it shite! Its touchscreen was UNUSABLE without a screen protector because of spurious touch detection.
Kinda crazy how powerful Samsung was without directly doing anything to HTC - the Samsung vs apple idea is soooo smart on Samsungs part to both stay in the game AND push HTC out at the same time
Try the new Nokia's. Got a Nokia 5.4 from my new job today. It gave me the HTC vibe, after the HTC Galaxy Nexus I've never had an Android that tickled me the right way, like the Apple philosophy did. Until now, that Nokia. About 200 bucks. Great value, great styling. Very nice.
@@Ticklestein I'm yet to trust Nokia after the horrors of owning a Lumia back in the day. Maybe someday in the future when they've established their reliability I would think of switching. Sticking with Samsung A series for now
I started with the (widely impractical) windows ce phones that where manufactured by HTC. I know I had several of them and than switched over to android HTCs for a while, but the only phone I still remembered is my first xda(HTC wallaby).
I so love my HTC One , and M8. HTC is love! They were much ahead of their times. Having an HTC was lot cooler than having Apple. I sincerely wish it rises up again.
I had the HTC Desire and loved the scrolling mouse button thing, I really missed it when I switched to Samsung two years later. Unfortunately the higher end HTC phones were not readily available in my country and it was a headache to get them but you could get the cheaper phones. So, when time came for me to upgrade to a flagship phone I got a Samsung.
At the time I had an Apple phone, but believe me, I really envied my cousin who had an HTC One M7: all the good of Android in a beautiful and functional skin and a really premium phone design. It was simply the best.
I still remember the day the One M7 hit the market. It looked like an entirely different to anything else at the time like it had come from the future. Everything else like the S3-S4 felt like absolute junk immediately when you held a One M7.
It's quite silly people keep saying this. Back in the day the Android fanboys (mostly but not just Samsung users) were quite negative about the M7 being the "iPhone 5 of Android", because it focused more on fancy design and lacked a removable battery and microSD slot. Poor marketing is one thing but at the time HTC did worse than even LG to appease the Android core users. I had the HTC Butterfly s which had a plastic body and a huge 3200 mAh battery. They should have launched this worldwide instead of M7.
HTC one M8 was one of the most beautiful phones I’ve ever owned. I still have it even tho it’s not being used. But I do agree that when HTC was on its prime, they made some of the most beautiful smartphones
I still use my m8 to play my music w the front face speakers. The design on the phone still stands the test of time from '14 when I bought the phone. I love the metal build which gave it that premium feel.
@T Tamil yes I still have it kept under care even though it's out of juice.. wish I could afford to change the battery.. I have the HTC 10 as well.. that didn't get much praise but the design is just awesome
I wanted To buy an HTC ONE For Windows look guys i dont know I love Windows mobile OS windows phone is done but its have place in my heart now call me an idiot or anything
At the end of the day it's just a company trying to make money. I've learned over the years that it's a terrible idea to get emotionally attached to a brand name or product, unless it's due to nostalgia
The original htc one was incredible! The speaker placement and quality were unrivaled. Was heartbroken when I dropped mine and the screen shattered. The models that came after the first one weren’t nearly as nice so I switched back to apple :(
Don't use numbers as part of your recycled name. HTC One, HTC One, HTC One. All three were different models, but you'd have a seriously tough time convincing people there is a difference between "HTC 1," "HTC 1," and "HTC 1."
@Whats in THE name I had a OnePlus phone in between owning an iPhone SE (2016) and now owning an iPhone 11. The software was fun to play with, but buggy and infested with adware. The edge to edge screen was horrible too and lead to lot's of accidental touches. I bought this phone from a T-Mobile and had to return it. Apple is just on another level when it comes to their software. Tablets, Smartwatches, Phones, Wireless headsets, only thing Apple kinda drops the ball on is it's voice assistant and it's laptops.
@@jackdamenace13 dude oneplus has been famous for bugs, a samsung flagship relatively is has one of the most stable software in the market, might be less buggier compare to an ios device too
The MBA mentality kills companies. You need engineers with business sense running companies. If you look at the companies that continuously provide growth and competitive edge, those companies have corporate boards full of engineers and highly value their engineering teams. When Apple first started out, when layoffs were required, they fired their marketing teams, HR, and business development teams. They kept all the engineers, that's because it's the engineers who actually create value. These business development teams are effectively dead weight until you have a good product to actually sell. Companies in decline, that only care about quarterly profit, are the ones who fire their engineering teams and protect their friends in business development. "Talk is cheap, show me the code" -Linus Torvalds.
And I'm still using the U12+, my first HTC device was the Wildfire S and after that I have upgraded to the One X. And a friend that brought me to the brand first had an Desire HD and latter upgraded to an One X+ 64gb. Ow yeah those were some times 😀 Also had a classmate that used the M7 and latter upgraded to the M8.And my other friend also had the One S.
As a previous owner of both the One M7 and M8, I remember back in the day the biggest reason for going with an HTC phone over a Samsung one was build quality and material. Even if their phones had more features, Samsung stuck with ugly plastic bodies for years, hence why I stayed with HTC. However when the S6 came around and the M9 looked like a disappointing sequel to the M8, I switched and never looked back. It's a shame HTC failed to innovate and market their phones correctly, the M8 still holds a special place in my heart.
Same man , Man , I still remember, two of my friends had an m7 and m8 and they were AMAZING. so when htc announced m9 , I was waiting for it, I spent months obsessing over it and I even had a poster of it in my room . When I launched I bought it without a second thought. Oh but who would have thought they would have fallen so low. The build quality and software was great. BUT the battery had issues and THE CONSTANT HEATING ISSUES MY GOD. because it was a full metal body, I felt like I was holding a burning piece of metal in my hands without a case.
I was and Android early adopter and owned the Hero and the One S. What frustrated me about HTC was the lack of android updates once the phone was over 6 months old. This was when Android was evolving really fast (e.g. 1.5 to 1.6 saw the introduction of turn by turn navigation). Also it meant important security updates. However HTC were really slow or non-committal about providing any updates, instead they spammed the market with new models. So in 2014 I jumped ship to Google, I'm sure many other of their customers also left for this reason. Releasing three models of phone a year and providing excellent support has been a successful model for google.
This is sad, my heart is breaking for them. This is the only smartphone that made sense with its design and innovation back then. I hope it's not yet too late for them and I am hoping for them to get back up there. That would complete their story.
Quote from a engineer and designer at htc that I know in person ”htc has given up on smart phones.” They have brilliant talents, but short vision leaders.
HD2 is still my favorite phone ever, it was an absolute beast and revolutionary at the time. It had the most active development community of any phone ever released, I think you could load something like 6 or 7 different OSes on it including a full Linux build. I had so much fun modding it back in the day, I still remember the anticipation and anxiety I felt firing up MAGLDR and holding my breath until it passed the "GO GO GO!" screen. Manually adjusting the partition sizes in notepad to allot enough memory to make my custom ROM run better. It's the phone that got me into Android funnily enough- first the XDA devs figured out how to run Android off the SD card, then NANDroid builds came out which could be flashed over Windows. Hands-down best dev phone ever! I used to get a lot of attention back then for having a "huge phone" too. Hard to imagine that 4.3 inches used to be considered huge lol. I just picked another one up on ebay, it's not really usable as a daily driver anymore and most of the links for modding resources have gone dead, but I just wanted to have it for my nostalgic phones collection.
I remember literally switching carriers to get the htc one. The one that came with the beats headphones. Still my favorite phone of all time. Those speakers were incredible
In India HTC launched a budget smartphone in 2019 , it's named the HTC wildfire X and yes they are still doing absolutely NO marketing and it's dead here.

I still have my M7 from 2013, & to this day I still believe it's the best looking phone ever made. It's a shame it runs like a dog these days, but it occasionally gets security updates...
`the modern smartphone`? Well, I have SontEricsson P800 in the early 2000s and iPhone after 2007. HTC came out with the HTC G1 a year after the iPhone. Actually Apple filed a lawsuit against HTC because they `copied` 20 ideas. Look, HTC made great phones back then such as the One /M7-M8/ but inventing the modern smartphone? No way dude.
It's possible, I think I saw a tweet maybe a year or a couple of months ago from one of HTC marketing people asking what HTC phone should make a comeback. M7 and m8 were the popular ones in the replies, maybe one day.
Guys if you really want an HTC phone so bad, try a Google Pixel phone. That's the closest thing you can get to an HTC phone in 2020. I have been using Pixels for years now. I believe HTC has been actively working with Google to design these phones since 2016. Just designing, the manufacturing its currently being made by Foxconn. I'm using the Pixel 4XL right now, would totally recommend.
My favourite era of smartphones was the early 2010s. Smartphones were still relatively new, but companies were quickly getting the hang of it. Smartphone technology was advanced to a point, but not overly advanced like today, it was at a "sweetspot". Smartphones were small and Actually comfortable to hold. Innovation in the smartphone market was drastic and exciting. And Finally, they were seen as an accessory and or a tool, not a lively hood. Don't get me wrong, smartphones today are impeccable in terms of how far they've come and what they can do. I have a galaxy 20+ and love every bit about it. But early 2010s smartphone era was just perfect in my eyes and I hope that one day, HTC will come back and wow us all once again like they did in the early 2010s!
You are right. I loved between 2007-2010 of Nokia phones. Extremely small and easy . We don't spend a lot of time on it and would rather spend time meeting people compared to today's shitty virtual world. Hate today's.
So true! I remember the Nokia 5300 aka Nokia Music, the LG Chocolate, LG Voyager, T Mobile Sidekick, the Blackberry phones.. Back then each phone brand had its own identity or niche. Nowadays all the brands look alike (iPhone) and they’re all trying to do the same thing, nothing separates one brand/phone from another.
Back then it made sense to upgrade every year because mext years was much more different and better than the years before, now its like you can wait like 4 years unt something much better has come to the market
@@marcotricks9297 the sad thing is that applies not only to phones. Cars the same, take often brand logo and model name and most cars look almost the same. I remember my dad having a ChaCha that he was given for his work-related purposes. Despite the fact that I really disliked an embedded solid keyboard on a smartphone frame, I believe ChaCha was the only smartphone I could bring myself to using as my personal device. That thing just felt unique and premium, an exclusive thing to own...
Just yesterday I was thinking how brilliantly amazing my old HTC phone was. I still use it when at home to preserve my daily driver's battery. HTC are top dogs when it comes to software optimization for maximum battery efficiency. Without performance loss. No one could beat them while they were still in business.
I remember my buddy having an HTC back in the day and we saw these tiny tiny little bugs that just looked like little dots to the naked eye, you couldn't even make out their legs they were so small. When he zoomed in on those things with his HTC you could see each leg individually and their antennae and so much detail. Bbsolutely blew my mind at the time. No other phone was even close to that level of zoom quality
I *LOVED* HTC!!! They made my first Android phone: The One X+. They also made my second & third Android phones: The One (M7), and the One (M8). Of those 3, the M8 was my favorite. It was just so beautifully made, in the Gunmetal finish! It was an Apple level of build quality, which was UNHEARD OF in Android phones back in those days. For the longest time, I actually thought APPLE might buy them! Apple had agreements with HTC that they never had with other Android manufacturers. They didn't chase HTC, and try to sue them into the ground, like they did with Samsung. It was almost like a truce. Also, you touched on it here, with the mention of Beats, but really: HTC kind of did everything first (everything except huge OLED displays. Samsung did those first): Stereo speakers on a smartphone (for YEARS, HTC was the ONLY manufacturer paying attention to this. It was this feature that kept me as a customer), a great audio experience in the headphones with Beats audio, buying into a music streaming service, the dual-lens camera (everyone LAUGHED when HTC did this. Even back then, I said "Yeah, everyone's laughing now, until Apple follows suit, and ends up getting credit for INVENTING it!" And that's EXACTLY what happened, of course!). Even in the pull back from the high megapixel wars that were going on with smartphone cameras at that time. HTC was the first to step back & say "Hey, high megapixel count isn't everything!". They put their money where their mouth was, and put an 4 MEGAPIXEL camera on the One M7. OK, they were probably a bit TOO uncompromising with this vision, as it really hurt them. But Apple followed suit, and for years kept their megapixel count at 12 for the rear camera, instead focusing on the quality of the sensor, and letting in more light. We're only creeping back into the high megapixel wars again NOW, in 2020. Oh, and even BlinkFeed! Everyone laughed at that, too, at the time! But now, both Apple AND Samsung have informational feeds when you swipe left-to-right on their home screens! That was HTC that did that first! So, yes: HTC was DEFINITELY ahead of its time. Unfortunately, that did not work out for them from a business perspective, but for those of us old enough to remember, HTC was one of the great innovators in the smartphone space.
One of the things that I find lovely about all their phones back then was the clock widget. The design along with the animation was quite mesmerising at that time :)
You're so correct omg. I had a One X (would've loved to have the m7, m8, m9 but didn't have money lol). I also got mad af when they were mocked for the dual cameras only for it to become a thing like 2 years later!
lmfao! i remember that! they're pretty much the reason i still keep a large android weather widget on my home screen. I had a HTC Evo Shift and a One. It's a shame they stopped making phones.
I remember being the only one in my school that had an HTC phone. Everyone else was on the Galaxy vs iPhone train. I always preferred HTC over the other brands because their devices were definitely ahead of their time
My first flagship phone I bought with my own money was a. HTC. I absolutely loved it. It was sleek and felt premiui. And then I got a Samsung randomly. I fell in love with that and I've been a loyal Samsung phone customer for the last decade...
I had the One X+ it was my least favourite phone, partly because my Canadian carrier did not give it any signficant software updates and the battery life was short.
@@Mr_Penguins_Pet_Human I later bought the Butterfly s from Taiwan and the updates came fairly fast, but One M7 still had top priority and there were a number of issues never fully addressed like distortion from the headphone jack.
The one M7 and M8 for me remain impactful phones in my life. Even seeing one today makes my spine tingle they're beautiful phones to this day. Hope they return stronger but it will be difficult unless they take the Nokia HMD route which is working well so far EDIT 2 YEARS LATER: Well HMD have practically driven the Nokia brand to the ground and HTC are inexistent in the smartphone market. Talk about careful what you wish for am I right?
Here in India , Nokia HMD Global started well but have slowed down in the last year or so. Their design department is practically doing nothing , Pureview is a perfect example of this. The last great Nokia phone since HMD happened is Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6 globally).
This phone was way ahead at that time. I still remember my cousin , tech enthusiast ,telling me how advanced this one is from the competitions with its high audio , ultrapixel camera and so on.
@@ultimatestoryteller HMD have failed the Nokia brand. They just have no consideration for their customers after their last Nokia PureView update scandal. They did not even try to mask the fact that their phones were broken and needed saving. They've definitely turned the Nokia brand and as for HTC it's sad just how they went out with a whimper
I remember getting my son an early HTC for Christmas. That thing was so revolutionary... It was like a giant step into the future. The widget clock was it.
I remember jailbreaking my Iphone 3GS and 4 just so I can get the HTC clock and weather widget. I'm on Android now and haven't looked back but HTC phones made a big impact on me.
I was lucky enough to grow up with several HTC phones in my early to mid teens, and I couldn't have been happier. My first HTC was Desire S. It was absolutely trash in it's performance, but the charm and the UI made me get a Sensation XL next, when you got beats solo's along with the phone. This for me is the phone that first gave some real premium feeling. The half metal/aluminium removable back was a completely new feeling, as well as the screen being an entire 4,7 inches, which was massive back then. But of course, when I got the HTC One with that metal unibody, it was a different world. The classiest phone to have ever existed imo, and no other design has ever come close. It's a shame it got so little recognition, and I definitely felt the same way as described in this video when I talked to my friends about it. No one knew or even cared about the phone, and the android users around me had already been captivated by Samsung
HTC smartphones were some of the first smartphones I used. They were glorious. The HTC one M8 was really amazing, beautiful aluminum body, front facing speakers, buttery smooth all around without a metric ton of bloatware that was characteristic of the time. I miss HTC's flagships for sure.
Ooooh I remember really wanting the one m8 when it was around, but was a student at the time so couldn't justify the expense (had a galaxy s2 at the time which was getting on a bit in age, but still a great phone in its own right despite being well behind in design terms). They really made some awesome phones.
Also, you could personalize it in such a cool way. I've never seen such features on any other phone. It was basically a theme setup wizard where a program guides you step by step to change symbols, fonts, wallpapers, color themes, etc. And this was all NATIVE! With free or your own designs directly integrated... I really do miss this feature.
@@dennisbarnes9317 I also believe that, but after lunching 8 pro,I doubt one plus core is Flagship killer but now they are making flagship or what...in India price is high so telling not know about other countries.

Not to mention they've been making solid mid range phones since 2019 because they were heavily criticized for releasing ugly and expensive mid range phones. My first ever phone was the HTC Evo 3d, absolutely loved that thing. It lasted me like 3 years, and when I got rid of it, there was next to no damage on the phone whatsoever. I remember wanting the original HTC one so bad when it first came out. It’s a shame they lost they’re relevance, they were truly iconic in the early days of smartphones.
I remember one of my friends having a HTC back in the day (in the UK), but beyond that I barely heard of them. At the time he had the HTC everyone was raving about the iPhone and it tended to be a case of you were either a Nokia loyalist, sticking to older style phones rather than smart phones, or you spent your time arguing whether iPhone or Blackberry was the best. Due to being a Nokia guy, I ended up with a phone that resembled a Blackberry before moving onto Nokia's smartphones when they finally bit the bullet and switched over. I was actually a big fan of their phones with Windows OS, as many of the features it had (and certainly the camera) was far better than the iPhone, but it just never got the support from Microsoft or the public which is why it ended up dying a death. I am now on Android as it is the most similar OS to Windows, and like the fact it is less propietary than iOS. My last couple of phones have both been Samsung ones. I just don't think HTC ever really got a foothold here. Hell, even my one friend who had one used to rave about it but withing a couple of years he moved to Apple.

“If you had an Htc phone, you’d love it” HECK YES! My first smart phone was an HTC Sensation 4G. I loved the emulators I had there. Best ones I’ve had.
I had the HTC M7. The camera was pink after a few years, the screen lost some colour as well, but it was still decent. I cracked the screen and a few months later it finally died, which was around January last year. Probably not the best, but it lasted a while.
video is misleading, as if eveyr phone htc produces was gold, and then out of nowhere "unknown" samsung came at took it all from them. Let's start with quality, while their flagship phones were indeed high quality, their other models were miles away from it, with poor build quality, dubious design choices, laggy software, zero updates and so on. As for samsung, it was never "unknown", samsung was a giant before it even entered mobile market, comparing samsung and htc of that time is as comparing wallmart to your local grocery store owned by rashid, of course samsung will come out on top.
Had the white HTC One X about 10 years ago on AT&T. Great phone and beautiful design. I was never one to be brand loyal but the aesthetics of their phones were always very eye catching and they introduced what external speakers should sound like. I had a coworker with the black version of the same phone and he was a big fan of it too. I actually gave him my "old" cases for the phone when I upgraded to something else.

I remember in 2010 sitting in a works conference meeting, my old friend sitting next to me nudged me and said "watch this". He had his phone out and sneakily pointed it at the huge plasma tv screen that everyone was watching and turned it off that had the organisers scrambling. My friend showed me his phone and on the back was the letters "HTC". Amazing stuff over a decade ago to witness😄
HTC was like Apple's Android. Their Sense UI and Hardware was the best. Even Apple wasn't able to compete their design (both hardware wise and UI wise). HTC should start focusing on Indian Market. Huge potential here and HTC can have a comeback. In India, we mostly loaded with Chinese brands, people will consider having a *Secured Android Phone* under $400.
Exactly why Apple COPIED HTC when they brought out their phone6 3 years after HTC released a phone that was basically the same thing (but also had stereo front speakers and a dual rear camera!)
I think that would be dire straight for HTC. Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi are flooding the Indian market with subsidized phones in an effort to build a stronghold and recoup the investment later on by selling services. While there is a great potential for growth in the Indian market there is also currently no way to make money from handset sales alone. Also, India has introduced tariffs on phone imports in a bid to establish home-grown assembly and later manufacturing capabilities. So HTC would be either penalized by import tariffs or had to establish costly local operations. Neither ideal for a company that is betting its future on the success of its next phone. I personally would focus on markets in US and Europe first. An example of Nokia (and this video, when I think about that) clearly demonstrates that people can be nostalgic about phone brands.
Yeah, the Desire and M8 were phones a never regretted. The M8 felt like a mercedes in the hand, and the old Desire was my first tech-love back when Google was something I trusted. It's been a while...
I had the M7 and M9 and absolutely loved them. Blink Feed and being able to scroll through topics that were of interest to me was awesome. I hope they make a comeback as most phones today are all too similar.
I didn't mind BlinkFeed but it was one reason the M7 was pissed on because HTC basically shoehorned it in like bloatware and didn't give an option to turn it off initially.
Well, Xperia's integration with Sony's electronics department is now complete. We'll see if something will change. Though, I doubt marketing will improve.
Man, when the HTC One M7 came out, it was the coolest phone I'd ever seen.
4 Mpix Ultrapixel camera was GREAT. They needed only to refresh it every 2 or 3 years with better internals.

I went from the Rezound to the One M9, and that M9 was a beast!

Ow yeah those were some times 😀 Also had a classmate that used the M7 and latter upgraded to the M8.And my other friend also had the One S.
I had the HTC legend with Froyo back in the day till it got stolen. :'-(
As a previous owner of both the One M7 and M8, I remember back in the day the biggest reason for going with an HTC phone over a Samsung one was build quality and material.
I still prefer my Galaxy S5 over the newer phones DUE to its removable back cover.
Same man , Man , I still remember, two of my friends had an m7 and m8 and they were AMAZING. so when htc announced m9 , I was waiting for it, I spent months obsessing over it and I even had a poster of it in my room . I still have my M7 and my kids were playing games on it at the end of last year. Fantastic piece of electronics
HTC vs Samsung!!
I had the s2 s3 s5 and now the s20 ultra.
My main phone has always been the nexus 6.
I feel the same.

Manually adjusting the partition sizes in notepad to allot enough memory to make my custom ROM run better.

Imo HTC's a company with brilliant designers and engineers, let down by hopeless management and marketing.
I remember the cool “m series” phones. I hope HTC make a comeback in the future.

Even different models (for example Audi) always had a small difference in their model lines so you could immediately see if it’s an A4, A6 or A8, nowadays you have difficulties to recognise the correct model…

RIP lil metal buddy
Htc is well known all over the world..you may have been a child when htc was on top
I legit used my brothers htc as a telescope to find planet at night, moon was mind blowing detailed
man i remember back in the day my cousin got a One M8 and it was so far ahead of its time. I was so blown away by the boomsound speakers
Damn, bro. This brings back memories.
Also, I had forgotten they existed 🥴 Didn't even realize they had gone.
Agreed!
So accurate ...you cant deny that ring unlock on the lockscreen..miss that
Don’t forget ZOE photos that Apple now calls Live Photos! The One M8 blew my mind.

Well HMD have practically driven the Nokia brand to the ground and HTC are inexistent in the smartphone market. Talk about careful what you wish for am I right?
M8 is one most beautiful phones that i ever used.m7 had some camera problems but brilliant speakers
Here in India , Nokia HMD Global started well but have slowed down in the last year or so. Their design department is practically doing nothing , Pureview is a perfect example of this. The last great Nokia phone since HMD happened is Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6 globally).

I remember getting my son an early HTC for Christmas. That thing was so revolutionary... It was like a giant step into the future.
The widget clock was it.
HTC is a kind of brand that everyone quietly respects. Even though they don't own their products.
Apple with their shitty 'GLASS PHONES' that break, revolutionairy!
Ooooh I remember really wanting the one m8 when it was around, but was a student at the time so couldn't justify the expense (had a galaxy s2 at the time which was getting on a bit in age, but still a great phone in its own right despite being well behind in design terms). They really made some awesome phones.
