    I worked as a promo spokesperson for the Microsoft watch, standing around Circuit Cities trying to demo and sell them to people who couldn't care less. Good times.

      +jaypob I'm genuinely intrigued by your comment, was this a one off gig? If not, how was it like working in the tech industry during that time? Cheers for the comment!

      ColdFusion It was just a short term gig; I was working through a promotions agency. My dad worked for Hewlett Packard through most of the 80's, though. The rise and fall of HP might make for an interesting video.

      +jaypob I remember Fossil made a smart watch powered by Palm OS in 2003. I really wanted one back then, I had my Visor Prism and this watch had it all for me. Interestingly enough, after Fossil discontinued it in 2005 they also made a watch based on Microsoft's MSN.Net and it was pretty nice as well, you could even receive MSN Messenger IMs to the watch over those FM bands. I was glad to see the smartwatch idea come back after 2005

      He was being figurative for sure. Cause it's literally impossible to not have used a Pc even in late 90's, especially today. Someone who has worked at Apple even, I 20000x favor desktop/laptop Win 7, Ios for mobile. There's almost no point on OSX except for decreased virus rates.

      +LxC When it comes to creative professionals Mac is almost the only way to go. Built in Utilities guarantee you will never lose any progress within your project and will make sure all your windows and files are saved even if there is power failure. This is all built in, also the entire OS is built on drag and drop, so it makes it great for creative professionals, such as dragging and dropping a pic in photoshop of pixelmator, things that are not available system wide on Windows. Also stability, considerably less malware and viruses, and you get a new OS every year for free. Plus, designers appreciate Apple's great design, PC look pretty ugly compared to a mac. If anything High end PCs are used for creative computational processes, such as rendering a video, or even a 3D animation, but once you go any higher than that within the space of intense processes, you need a custom linux OS. So Windows is pretty much only good for small businesses who need Office, and gamers. Of course there are other uses, but those are not as big as the two i have preciously mentioned.

      +saiftakrim10101 Why do I not like macs? I do. They are amazing media creation tools and almost all UA-camrs use them. But, on the other hand, there's these Apple fanboys that will dismiss any product that is not made by Apple and say, "I just don't like them."

    • @HerbaMachina
      @HerbaMachina 9 років тому +1

      +saiftakrim10101 I have plenty of reasons why I don't like macs, and yes I have actually bothered to spend time with OSX before. also Edward, you are clearly misinformed if you believe macs are the best media creation tools, they're hardware is extremely limited in what they can do and if you actually wanted to do any kind of professional Video work you are screwed with them.

    • @edwardenzerliu
      @edwardenzerliu 9 років тому

      Machina How am I misinformed? Many UA-camrs, including MKBHD, used Mac Pros before. They are powerful machines that are very capable of media creation. Notice that I never said that Macs are the BEST media creation tools. Of course you can build a $20,000 PC that can blow the Mac Pro out of the water. BTW, if you're just a PC fanboy, the Mac Pro is made of off the shelf custom PC components.

      +Ingiomar Martina what a argument man

    • @slumpdogyt
      @slumpdogyt 8 років тому

      +Ingiomar Martina i agree Microsoft owns 80% of a lot of devices and machines, and some we may not know they have. Like did you know they make hearing aids and medical devices? All embroidery machines run windows CE. Practically every machine runs windows because its more reliable and cheap. Notice why there all using windows XP still. I don't know if you guys remember when the big breaches were happening. Also, the panic the banking industry was in when Microsoft pulled the support on XP, as 90% of all ATM's run windows. Which would be a big problem, if they got breached due to no more updates to the software. If you take Microsoft out of the picture, the world would be in trouble. Look most big programs were coded in Microsoft tools like Visual Studios, which all the big game studios still use. Game Engines cant work without a coding program. Look visual studio is now offered with Unity automatically for free.

    Microsoft is so innovative, they were decades ahead of their time and it's just now people are realizing the uses of what they showed years ago. For instance, the Surface Pro is an evolution of what was shown in 2002, but now thinner and with a detachable keyboard, and even Apple's toyPad Pro still can't match it's versatility/capabilities today...but as usual, Apple just matches the price.

    • @vijaybhaskar_25
      @vijaybhaskar_25 9 років тому +1

      +Ahmad A. Wow... Do you know how much surface costs? I was like "Games and touch screen and photoshop and portability" and I saw the price and went "Gush Dell or Mac book is better for me".

    • @ahmada.562
      @ahmada.562 9 років тому +7

      Vijay Bhaskar Haha, yes I know how much it costs, I own a Surface Pro 2. You probably have no idea what it offers, that's why you're going for a MacBook of the same price. Hint: it's a MacBook + a toyPad + a Wacom Cintiq selling at the price of a mono MacBook...
      MacBooks are inferior and overpriced in so many ways. Only their price tag matches the competition, everything else, they're underwhelming for their price tag.

    • @vijaybhaskar_25
      @vijaybhaskar_25 9 років тому +3

      I know about Surface. Am an artist and a gamer and a surface pro is great for what I want but what's not so great is surface pro 3 priced at $800 and with an i3 procesor which barely competes with macbook pro with i5 and priced at $750. That affects rendering. Also if I can get Dell or Lenovo, i can game and I might not have the best touch screen but I can compromise for what I can get for $600 laptop. Surface pro is a great thing and got me excited but I gush it is over priced just like a Mac and I might wait a bit longer for it to drop. BTW I don't choose Apple over Windows or vice versa, I just choose what gets my work done.

    • @ahmada.562
      @ahmada.562 9 років тому +3

      Vijay Bhaskar Hahaha, you're comparing an old used mono MacBook to a brand new 3-in-1 Surface price? That's just silly, why not compare to the older Surface Pro 1/2 which are also now lower price?
      Regardless, that's still only a Laptop, you're still going to need to buy a toyPad + Wacom board to match what the Surface offers...
      If you don't desire the functions offered by the Surface, that's good for you, no one is putting a gun to your head to buy more than you desire. But calling it overpriced 'cause you're not going to use what it offers is just imbecilic logic. Apple doesn't offer what the Surface does, yet they price their devices the same, that's what makes it inferior and overpriced. Not you turning a blind eye to what the product offers.

    • @vijaybhaskar_25
      @vijaybhaskar_25 9 років тому +2

      Am not saying Apple is under priced and yes might be old but still has a better processor which is a huge thing for me for using photoshop, illustrator and premier. It's not always about old tech or new but which is better. And I use Asus laptop for browsing web, viewing pictures, skyping and stuff while travelling and it cost $250 and I often wonder when laptops are specd 2 times my Asus but are priced 3 times as much.Apple mostly charges high because there is no competition against them using their own software. But as for surface, am pretty sure some other brand will introduce similar product for $100-$200 cheaper but until then surface is over priced because of the same reason, no one is in competition yet.

    Psychological standpoint, attaching music piece to a brand is another way of engraining the brand into the brain. Just like how writing notes down by hand increases the efficiency/strength of that note. Also, you'd be suprised how many ideas were initially developed or made hundreds of years ago and simply were too far ahead in their time. Always going to happen, watch the things we talk about/imagine today, 20 years from now will be completely normal.
