I adopted my cat at age 9, sadly she lost her family and was in a shelter for more than a year. She was shy and understandably a bit traumatized. I'm a senior with a quiet home and I knew we'd be a good match. I slowly introduced her to her new home and she adjusted very well. She's very affectionate and seems quite happy but I watch her closely and can tell if she's feeling stressed, like during family visits. It's been a great and joyful experience.

I adopted my cat from a rescue organization that rented out spaces at a certain pet store, when I first looked at the cats, I saw one whose profile seemed like he would be a perfect fit in my home. But the cat in the neighboring cage had other ideas, and that cat who pawed at me constantly to get my attention, was the one who picked me to be his mom. I couldn't have made a wiser decision than to let the cat pick his human.
Really well done!! One additional thing cats aren't really supposed to have in the house is scents- incense, scented candles, oil burners, there are a LOT of volatile compounds in them that can mess with kitties if they breathe them in. The more you know! 🤓
I have an adult male cat that with my work schedule he was getting depressed. I was going to adopt a kitten but there was an adult female mama cat that was fostered with a rescue org volunteer and was told she needed a home. I opted for the mama who was about 8 years old. Just what the doctor ordered and they both came to life and are besties. Best decision ever.😊

Adopting a cat is a lift time commitment. I got my boy when he was a 10 week old kitten from a cat rescue, he passed away 2 years ago in his mid twenties. A house cat lives a better life. If you are not sure that your cat will like the new cat, some cat rescue/shelters will let you bring your cat to meet the new cat and mix with them before you take them home to see how the cats will get along.
Energy is individual, some cats don´t need so much activity. However, they must definitely have the free space to do so if they feel that. Lucy from Slovakia

A cat needs someone not nervous but calm, not too much punctual but organised, not too sporting but also not very lazy. If you are not ready to share time and place with the warm ball of hairs, it won´t work well. I am a cat person, fortunately. Lucy from Slovakia
It’s actually recommended to get two cats if they will not be able to leave your house. Otherwise your only cat can get bored very quickly and even humans can’t really replace interactions with other cats

You said a kitten will most likely need to be spayed or neutered, but from what I can tell (maybe I’m wrong) it looks like in some videos that Kurt isn’t neutered. Can I ask why this is? Like I said maybe I’m wrong it’s just some videos it looks like he’s not. I’m 100% just curious and I mean no hate at all🫶🏻
The easiest way is to ask yourself: can I take care of a baby? If yes then you are ready for a cat cuz just like with a baby, your house/apartment need to be made cat safe. Then read on the breed you are planning on having. I don't recomend a savannah as an example which is a high energy and very smart cat.
I have been a cat or moggy owner for 49 years and loved them all and do understand what needs to be done on a daily basis, so my cats have a nice peaceful day..

I didn't adopt a cat either my family found a prego mother cat that was in danger with big men cats but we took her to our new house nd took care of her until she gave birth nd when she did it was a litter of 4 but one died we gave 1 to a family member ( his names simba) nd we took care of 2 but sadly one died to tragic events the last one we raised but for now shes with close family The only question i have is that the cat i raised never went to the vet even as a kitten should i take her to one now or will she be fine ?

Dont mix a kittens with an adult cat, they really need to be on the same level and not to many years apart.
I adopted 2 cats one of them is over 7 and the other one is 2 and they are both adult cats but they live in the streets

Don't declaw them!!! It is very brutal and results in lifelong pain and disability.
