I can see balla's point on 100T looking like the better team even when they were falling behind. It felt like even when they made the right plays they were losing gun fights or just missing timings. Also don't think Ethan is bullet proof of criticism. Seemed like he had an odd number of first deaths in mid rounds, particularly on ascent iirc.
I agree for the most part. If you look at why 100T lost games, it really comes down to Jett being a busted character, and 100T isn't a team with one of these top tier Jett players. So every time 100T lose strings of rounds, you're looking at players like Cned, D3ffo, and yay getting picks that are damn-near impossible to trade, and then keeping the OP into the next round. I think it says a lot that they were able to get to top 4 without one of those types of carries. Aside from that, the team improves a lot with more consistency from Asuna, and a bit more time to perfect their timings and strats.

Was thinking the same thing. Here's something I posted on reddit:
Well, Jett dash is pretty crazy and we all know that. Was trying to think of a way to nerf it and while frame data changes might work, they run the risk of just killing the character so I was thinking maybe they just change the nature of the dash?
Proposed change: have dash have a significant delay after activation such that it has to be pressed preemptively. Think of it like how viper smokes drop. Obviously the gap can be much less but same concept where you preemptively cast the ability before it goes off.
You press dash, then toss the smokes, then the dash activates. You press dash, peek and try to take a shot, then the dash activates. You hear footsteps coming, you press dash, people run into your crossfire, then the dash activates. You get shot from behind, you press dash, have to try to flick or hope the enemy whiffs, then the dash activates.
The thing about this is that in many cases where you are proactively using your dash it wont affect things. It will put the onus on you to make a play before your get out of jail card activates. This will significantly reduce reactionary dashes though. Jett is super strong because she can be out of position or be completely caught out and reactively dash to safety in a way that is much more flexible and unpunishable than any other character. This doesn't completely remove that but it does change it.
The one most significant change this will make for Jett op ing is it won't allow you to post up an angle as unpunishably as before. You can't hold angle, shoot and just press dash right after like a machine anymore. Either you preemptively press dash which will mean you getting out was a good read or they have at least a small opportunity to trade you. Offensively this means for you to take a completely untradable peeking op shot, you have to preemptively expend your dash. It means aggressive op-ing will then be balanced across the board for all heroes!
If this were to be the change then putting dash on a cooldown timer like other skills might be viable or something similar. I dunno. Didn't think that far.
Just a suggestion! Here's to hoping this reaches Riot maybe but even if it doesn't we know they'll continue doing a great job🤞
I've got something to tell you guys, look at TenZ performance on Raze in stage 3 open and closed qualifiers in the tournament where they lost to Xset once. TenZ played excellent on Raze.
Part of the insanity about nAts for me was that before the grand finals, he was 3rd in ACS behind yay and heat

I love hearing them talk about the avenue Riot is having to take with buffing underplayed agents until they are OP just to get people to play them - its happened with Jett, Viper, Skye so far and now it looks like Kay/O is next in line
For Wyatt - Riot said they already tested the change to only dashing the direction you are facing and found that it made no difference whatsoever so they will not implement it.
For Jett, i like the idea of getting tagged reducing dash distance. Basically if getting tagged reduces your movement speed by say 60% (i don't know the actual numbers) then if you get tagged you only dash 60% of the distance.

you guys absolutely need to keep Balla on the show - at times with Josh, Wyatt and Avast (who can all think for themselves and are great at observing what's going on with teams, players etc) it can get a bit echochamber-y as they all agree on almost everything. Balla consistently presents different arguments and perspectives that challenge how those three think, sometimes even making them reconsider positions. That's really important.
Exactly 9 months ago nobody played skye. She had the lowest pickrates along side viper at the time. Now they both RULING the meta. Kayo has a really well rounded kit I'm sure people gonna realise his potential later on
Kayo is ass. Skye and viper both got a lot of buffs before being played at pro level
I would say VS definitely was the 3rd best team at Berlin. Above Envy I think is a reach, but I absolutely think VS would've won against 100T. Balla said himself that Acend looked trash against VS, but they still played a really close game against 100T. So by that logic VS would be miles ahead of 100T.
I'm not saying the metric "so beat so and so" is a good metric, but that's what balla was saying at some point

I'd support a Jett change where to dash you need to have had your fire reset so that you can take a shot. That would mean with rifles you can peak and dash instantly whereas with an op there's a window where you have to wait for your weapon to reset to be able to dash. I feel that it would make it harder to take the free peaks, but not impossible.
that would probably be more balanced but would feel miserable. i think there are better changes that can be done without making jett feel bad to play. yoru is easily the worst character, but hes still fun, so i know the devs are capable
this is the second time ive watched this and i just love this power rankings segment. first time in awhile since a video had me cackling.
I think they should do a change to Jett like her dash gets a delay based on which weapon you have equipped. So if you have your knife out, you dash instantly but with the Op there is a delay.
That would hopefully adress the issue that only jett is viable to play the Op which is one of the main problems

Operator/Odin=400ms delay after shooting
Phantom/Vandal=300ms delay
Spectre/Judge=200ms delay
Pistols=100ms delay or no delay
Knife/Bladestorm= no delay

My suggestion to Jett's dash is that her dash's speed is determined by the weight of the gun she is carrying, similar to how heavier guns like ops causes slower run speed than knife or pistol out. So she dashes slower when she has her op out
Oh damn! This is creative and I like it. You could even combine this with when she gets tagged she has a smaller dash and she dashes slower with op. She’d still be an amazing duelist and could entry site with her dash

Well I agree Skye did need some tuning I disagree she did everything well before the buffs and everything too well after the buffs. The only things I think really pushed her over the edge was the flash change so she can flash for herself and the dog vision range increase. Tbh I think the direction they could gone in with Skye was if they wanted her to be able to play off her flashes more then reduce the flash duration way more to be inline with a Phoenix flash or revert most of the flash change entirely (i.e. make it so she has to do the hand animation to pop the flash again). I think the flash being able to go around corners was a quality of life change because it got stuck on walls and corners more often than not. Other than that I do think her ult points needed to be increased to 7 because it is so good. It is much better than I first thought, cause when you had the first Nukkye backchat, he really changed my mind about Skye ult. I feel like the Valorant community really under plays how broken Jett really is. The fact that she has a free zero-risk escape option which can be super flexible for attack or defense is really broken. Reyna has an escape option but she has risk too it because she relies on securing a kill before she can use it while Jett does not.
The world ranking at the end actually killed me.
No disrespect to the casters which do an amazing job but I'll never watch a live Valorant tournament stream without coming here. V good job. Loved it

I still can't figure out for the life of me why Riot didn't change the crate in the B-site lower tube from pennable to metal instead of what they did with the double stack. The current default on icebox B site is just so simple and uninventive whereas if you made it safer for teams to plant deeper into site, it would be much more interesting. Maybe attacker take snowman, or play mid. or go up into kitchen even. The problem with B site is that everybody falls back to yellow after this default plant
Next week do an LCQ prediction and like an all star team. Each person picks 1 player and you see who has the best team

G2 is the type of team which don’t win the first game against someone but then they make adjustments to their playstyle to win the next one.
100t almost got boomed 0-2 by gambit, and acend and won on the backs of huge chokes from those teams. VS were either consistently competitive or dominant throughout the tournament. I dont see them choking against 100T.

I kinda think the Sen form was because they were effectively the opposite of nV going in. They were the highest seed and the reigning champs so had something to lose. Whereas, nV were lowest NA seed, had very little expectations from spectators.
As the guys mentioned, nV were massively prepared. Sen seemed really underprepared and not because of what the copium heads would have you believe. It wasn't because they didn't care, or because they were holding strats for Champs... They got complacent, they (or at least some of the team) thought they could just walk into games and come out with the W. It also seemed like they barely touched a PC apart from when they were on stage. Yes, their prac room seemed a complete shambles. But other teams spent a lot of time playing because they wanted the win, they felt like they had to earn it. Sen looked like they thought they deserved it.
So does the Gambit Pumpkin get to show up at Champions 2021 to defend its title and thus life? I think it should.

During the segment on power ranking Berlin, should the fact that sen beat g2 in the first match and if their group had played the same as all other groups sen would have qualified as number 1 seed from that group and avoided envy and would have had the “easier side of the bracket” be taken into account?

csgo fnatic did use to take a whole timeout not saying a word in really important games to refocus. Not talking tactics in a timeout can be benefical. 2:09:41 not sure this did necessarily help acend though. That being said, people do try to laugh things off as a 'im not nervous im laughing' so i do think balla is right here
Jett nerf suggestion: she can't dash while scoped. Atleast she then can't dash so fast after a kill with op
I disagree, rotating agent strengths is a very poor balance philosophy imo. Other games are proving that it is indeed possible to have a well balanced game, I see no reason why it should be different in Valo.
Ofc there always will be stronger and weaker agents but at least the goal has to be to have no must-picks and no complete trash tier agents

I don't know anyone notice or not but the Opponent team's best player who is popping fucking off in the tournaments always flops against Gambit. It feels like Gambit hard prepare to counter the opposing team's star player (For ex:- cNed, Buzz, Asuna, Yay all these players didn't do well in their game against Gambit. )
The issue with nerfing Jett is she’s basically the face of Valorant. She’s plastered over all of the promotional material and in all of the trailers. She’s a really fun agent. Other games have screwed this balance up with talisman characters. I don’t envy Riot with having to walk the line of balancing Jett for pro play whilst keeping her identity intact
Put vision strikers in Envys group and they would've gotten second (assuming the seeding made them fight the same teams as what actually happened.). If Envy fought Gambit round 1 of the playoffs they would've gotten the same result as Vision Strikers.
Envy beat VS 13-4 in scrims going by Yay's stream. I'm not saying that scrims are the be-all factor, but one can't definitively say that they would have come second in that hypothetical group.

@Nikhil Eshwar I personally think Kryptix is fine and not the root their problems. He is a site anchor, like zombs, and he clutches quite a bit. People just bandwagon against him because he doesnt frag as hard as the star names, but every team needs a site anchor who is just focused on util usage, imo.

Tbh people are thinking it's unjust for lakia to go all the way to berlin just for 1 map, and tbf I get it, but remember they're korean and they're used to it.
Just look at League or Overwatch where players would be subbed out on specific maps or when another player isn't playing so well. Koreans understand that in order to win they need the best and koreans are willing to step aside if its for the benefit of the team
yea it doesnt seem to translate to cs people. theres subs in Overwatch who might play 5 maps all season but they are used for specific map picks or agent picks.

Bit unfair to sentinels in the berlin ranking, isnt it? Sen played envy way closer than 100t, whoch only got big wins through impossible comebacks that prob wont happen that often if you rerun the games. I mean i dont like sen so i am fine with this but still seems a bit weird
Sen also lost to G2 and then F4Q took a map of them as well, you could say that they were seeding games but then they lost to envy as well which is unlike them, and just makes their tournament looks worse then it was.
Sen were prepared for nv. 100t were preparing for sen. If 100t had known nv would win they’d be more prepared. (They’d at least get a map)
