Tehachapi Loop - Long take

- Do check out this great video: • Tehachapi Loop in real... [Sony HDR-FX7E] - The Tehachapi Loop is a 0.73-mile (1.17 km) long 'spiral', or helix, on the Union Pacific Railroad line through Tehachapi Pass, of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County, south-central California. ..
The loop gains a total of 77 feet in elevation as the track ascends at a sustained 2% grade.[1] A train more than 4,000 feet (1.2 km) long (about 85 boxcars) thus passes over itself going around the loop...(Wikipedia)
That is just amazing! It's crazy to see all that cargo being pulled. Thanks for sharing!
probably one of the beautiful n longest loop in train history.. such a beautiful and magnificent view it is.. lived it.
The little extra from a drone overhead would’ve been the the icing on the cake. Loved it tho. Great Job!!👍👌❤️
Amazing video
Great video mate! These trains make our Main-Line general freight trains here in Queensland, Australia look like pups. Fantastic scenery as well. Thanks for taking the time to record and share your video. :-)
Very good ❤❤❤
I visited the Tehachapi Loop back in 2001. As a former train conductor from Canada, the site is an amazing place to visit and is a must visit for any train fans visiting California. Wish I were there right now. :)
Why do you need this loop?
@@Deontjie It is so trains can climb over a mountain range. Freight train lines usually stay below a 1.5% grade. Even with the loop the grade is 2.2%. It would be a lot higher without the loop.
this is amazing can't believe this is a single freight train
One of the best Tehachapi Loop videos I've seen!

.. How does that work..
There are 2 similar loops in Sri Lanka. One loop is Amazing. As soon as the train exits the tunnel. It goes over a viaduct built by the British during colonial days.
Imagine how cool that must be for the engineers to be able to look a mile a way and see that their very own train is STILL coming out of that tunnel and rounding that loop! (no pun intended)

YES.
It must be.👍👍.

Wow that is a great video hats off to the camera man. We have a similar loop but smaller here in New Zealand, Its called the Raurimu Spiral.
That’s some really impressive pulling power. And that loop is also impressive
Actually you need braking downhill, they use dynamic braking which converts kinetic energy into heat by passing it through a high resistance conductor and they use a fan to blow hot air out

The strength of those couplers is amazing. The one behind the last engine carries the load of all the rest.
Yes i too had that thought.

From the point we first see the the locomotive in this video entering the Tehachapi Loop complex of curves/loop, to the point we see the last car disappear, is about 2.25 track miles. Google Earth and USGA topographical maps show the total gain in height is about 225 feet in the video. The 77 feet Wikipedia mentions is just the tight, about 270° inner loop
Hats off for such a wonderful video.
Excellent video. Nice camera work. One of the best of the loop!

The train lengths in North America always shocks me. Here our cargo trains are much shorter but there is not nearly as much moved by train. Railways here are mostly passenger trains but not all.
It looks amazing coming out of the tunnel and has a nice horn!

There are a lot of Turnouts you can park at on the road the road is called woodford- Tehachapi road and most people go to where the California historical landmarks are but there is a little dirt road to the right of the land marks which is open to the public that you can walk up to and that is the best view and I believe this is the view this person was filming at
Wow. Most beautiful video that I ever see
Very nicely put together video and very entertaining as well. Thanks for posting this.

We have 2 of them in the Canadian Rockies. Except they are TUNNELS. And they where built in 1910.

This loop and train gives a impression that "the coiled 🐍viper snake has come out of the hole and crawling to make a loop."
Great video from a spectacular landscape!
No half measures in Amerikey! Very nicely filmed using the best Tehachapi Loop viewpoint.

Great video and camera angles, thoroughly enjoyed the video. Over here in Australia we have the spiral loop in the border ranges in New South Wales it's about the same size you should check it out.

This is perhaps one of the best videos of a train going thru the loop ever. I am amazed there were no DPUs wedged in the middle of the consist. Unless I missed them.
