I love this show to death and I think you did a great job. You were honest about your opinion with both the positives and negatives. You really did this show justice while most just non stop compare it with TCW
It's such a mistake for so many to compare it so heavily to TCW, when each show is meant to have completely different tones/scales/themes/aesthetics, etc.
@@godcaoss well I mean there are some bad filler episodes but there are also a ton of bad filler episodes in Rebels. And most of the filler in clone wars is actually really good. And when you really think about it in the long run, basically every episode from season 3 onward is either a small scale arc to set up a larger conflict or a larger scale conflict that still achieves character growth. But even The Clone Wars is filler (Zillo Beast, Saleucami, Lair Of Grievous) it's usually still entertaining. Rebels has bad direction and and a restrictive premise that isnt engaging so it's just not as fun to watch when the story is weaker and trust me, it can get very very weak.
Maul's death in Rebels is my favorite scene in all of Star Wars. I don't care what people say about it or Rebels. That scene made me cry and hit me in the feels. I'm glad that Maul went out peacefully. Rebels, in general, is an amazing show and I'm glad that I gave it a chance.
The Clone Wars is better, but Rebels was still very good and I was sad to see it go. I'm hoping they can make Resistance just as good if not better, and be able to finish The Clone Wars in a satisfying way!
Overall good review. Wish you would have done 2 things: 1. Talk about ezra's connection with animals and the darkside. 2. Kanan regaining his vision after sacrificing himself
You should’ve included the grand inquisitors death line “There are some things worse then death” It’s brilliant if you see anything about Vader outside of the films
I felt Star Wars rebels was pretty amazing when you think about what it had to work with when the Disney ownership provided many restrictions compared to the darker more amazing Clone Wars series. Had a bad first season but hey didn't Clone Wars have a meh first season too?
@Alex U. but Rebels and TCW were primarily appealing to kids too and another thing to consider is that I know a lot of kids who like Rebels and TCW but not any kids who like Resistance.
Shonksu rebels is weirdly disjointed. Most of it is very much directed at kids, but then they have tonal whiplash and do something kind of somber. Then go straight back to the the more kid friendly stuff.
George Lucas always cared about making the movies kid-friendly, he lamented that he wasn't able to do that with Episode 3(as with the other 5 movies), but produced Clone Wars in retribution to the kids audience. They even introduced Ashoka as the kid sidekick to allow kids to identify themselves with her. Of course the violence is toned town more in Rebels than in Clone Wars, but that doesn't make Clone Wars violent (there is no blood, no dismemberments and most(if not all) of the injuries are made by weapons that doesn't exists on real life or magical powers). I watched the complete series of Clone Wars, and I know there are mature topics eventually (after 2 seasons and a half, not right away from the beginning), but it never stopped being kids friendly, even if kids cannot fully appreciate the depth of certain story arcs. Same could be said about Rebels (is always kid friendly, but some of its arcs have depth that can only be appreciated by adults). In the end Star Wars is not a franchise that relies in graphic violence to cause impact and kids is an important audience(even if is not the only intended audience), so is not precisely the best place to look for something oriented specifically to adults.
FINALLY, SOMEONE THAT DOESN'T MAKE THE SHOW SOUND BAD Edit: I don't mean everyone needs to have the same opinion on things, I am just saying that it is refreshing that that there is a video that shows some of the highlights of the series. Seriously some of the reviews of the game are exactly the same, saying the same thing again and again "it is not the clone wars so it is horrible"
28:03 I just watched all of Rebels in three days and it clearly didn't come out of nowhere. In fact I was surprised it took that long and I thought they where a couple since season one as they treated each other as such.
Justin Kelly they are making a comic book or a book about how Ezra and Ashoka died because in the rise of skywalker you can hear Ashoka’s voice as a force ghost
F G did you see the content and the date when it was tweeted.. the day people panicked about Ahsoka because of her voice in ROS. But the wizard said to Ahsoka “People thought i was dead too, look how that turned out...” We thought we was dead (because of her voice), but because of this drawing maybe a different conclusion could be made. I dont think it is a coincidence that Mr. Filoni drew this picture and sent it on twitter the day ROS released. Just theories bro
Ezra is 14 years so the same age as Luke, but the depicts Luke as a child yet Ezra and Luke are almost the same age so it doesn't make sense. Yet Leia looks far older than 14, but Leia is the same age as Luke because there siblings. This makes zero sense to me.
@JeswiCan Remember, this is before A New Hope, and Henry Nguyenbui, as for why Leia looks older than 14, that because at that time, all three (Luke, Leia, and Ezra) are older than 14, probably closer to 17 or 18 if I had to guess (He did say that when they got to Yavin IV, that it was a year before A New Hope.
Even thought this show had a lot of rough edges, it"s still one of my favorite shows and is the best Star Wars project that's been released since Disney bought LucasFilms
Shonksu no no no Absolutely don't listen to this guy Rebels is amazing, BECAUSE of its original characters OP you should definitely watch the whole show (except maybe fighter flight and idiots array) and don't listen to what this guy said The new characters are amazing and the show stands on its own two feet with them
So true. Worth it. And the final season of Clone Wars end of Feb. People have given Disney grief for their handling of Star Wars. Some of it justified. But with the Mandalorian and letting Dave Felloni finish Clone Wars it seems they are starting to put Star Wars in the right hands. I wonder what the New Trilogy would have been like with Jon Favaru and Dave Felloni setting up the main story arc.
Thank you so much! I always loved the show but after watching the video I appreciate it even more now. Thanks for not spreading negativity saying how bad the show is compared to TCW although both are great in their own ways. Great video!
I would liked this show better if they had made the Empire more threatening, smart, and even more sympathetic. But instead they just made them the idiot bad guys
@@REYTRACER eh... They made Thrawn out to be smart be he truly didn't do anything sadly, Vader just left the show after he fought Ahsoka (That was a good fight though), The Grand Inquisiter also didn't accomplish much... at all, I didn't find him all that memorable, same with Kallus. They never put the Empire in a good light or from a different perspective other then they are villains. I want to see the stormtroopers have friend ships, how their losses affect them, after all, they are just ordinary humans with potential families, just on the job that happens to be for the Empire. This show isn't the only thing to fall short on this, Battlefront 2 ( the new one) had a huge missed opportunity with it's campaign SPOILERS Of course they had the stormtroopers we thought were going to seek revenge on the rebel scum that just killed thousands of comrades on the death star suddenly switch the the rebel alliance -_- Empire can't go anymore deep then They're bad guys HA NOPE This is just my opinion. Amazing in what respects? Most of the original content was mediocre at best, and it’s heights, if good, were disjointed with the quality of the overall product.
That was the point. Sabine gave it to her so not many people saw her as a rightful leader because you gotta win it in battle. In Mandalorian she knew that she couldn’t just take it again, she had to prove herself
Thrawn is good his line when his surveyors or whatever their called being destroyed he has to be nurfed or betrayed so the rebels can live and Grevious was always a chump
@@pokespartytv8086 The rebel cell always came up with super unexpected solutions (Bendu, The purrgil, etc), so Thrawn was still a badass, just out of his element.
I just finished watching Rebels and I'm in love with it. Amazing series! It's clever, not too predictable but not trying to subvert expectations constantly, the characters (both heroes and villains) are believable and well rounded. The strong female characters kick ass without putting down their male counterparts, the ongoing story is addictive and the Ghost is super cool!
The thing that I have always admired about star wars is their ability to connect their entire universe with little or no plot holes. I love seeing characters from other series and movies brought together, it just gives me the feels.
I finished watching SWR, and I must say, I LOVED IT! Sure, it had its downs, and sure, it was limited to a lot of things because Disney owns it, unlike the clone wars, but apart from that, its great! A really underrated TV show. It feels so satisfying because its a complete story. I felt emotionally close to these characters, something I never thought I would when I started watching. It wraps up subjects from the clone wars really well, and answers a lot of questions too. If the hate from the clone wars being cancelled was not around, and the show lasted longer, im sure if would near have the potential of clone wars.
Well now that Clone Wars is going to be finished properly 50% of people’s complaints about are now non void. (I know there are valid reasons to not like it but are we really going to pretend like it wasn’t peoples primary complaint about why it was a bad show?)
I like kanan and ezra but i don't like ezra alone He feels way too childish and cartoonish given his life and story. He also feels forced into big moments such as asohka and vader fighting while ezra cracks a wise one.
I loved how it was Sabine who was closing the series off, really love her character and I liked the fact that she had a seen with another one of my favorite characters from clone wars which was Ashoka. Hope Sabine finds Ezra (I really like the both of theme as a couple as well as every single scene that they had together). Star Wars Rebels....it was one hell of a ride, i will truly miss you(but i will re watch all 4 seasons). Can't wait for the next Star Wars animated TV show(I hope it features Ashoka again). Farewell....until we meet again....and remember, The force will be with you, always.
Personally I don't really understand why people love Sabine so much. I find that she has way too many skills and strengths to find her relatable in anyway so when she accomplished something, I never really think she had to work hard or struggle for it. Just my thoughts though.
Space aladin should've died instead of 'place mentor characters name here' so we didn't have to deal with him anymore. I honestly found to be the most annoying character next to the R2D2 and Chewbacca rejects.

I personally was not bored whilst watching this show. There was a couple of episodes that were boring here and there, like the droid centric episodes. Just like he droid episodes in the clone wars. I definitely like Clone Wars a lot more but I actually really liked Rebels. Kanan was the best character in my opinion & it doesn’t need an explanation. People say the show is childish, & it is, but a lot of dark and honest moments were mixed in there as well. Just like the Clone Wars did for the prequel Era..... Rebels did a lot of great world building for the Original era. It expanded the times of the empire and the rebels a whole lot. It’s a great show, & still underrated tbh.
Rebels deserves more love. It may not be Clone Wars but it’s still enjoyable. The characters are creative and very fun to watch. I was very salty when they killed Kanan. It was nice to see Ahsoka, Vader, and Maul again too. I have rewatched this show at least 4 times and still love it! Edit: do you think you can do a video on The Mandalorian or Obi Wan Kenobi? That would be cool!
I like it more than The Clone Wars. The structure of the show (TCW) is messy and you don't get a thing without the chronological order guide. Also, it has A LOT of filler episodes. Obviously The Clone Wars improved with more budget.
I honestly think they should produce a series from the imperial side, perhaps explaining why so many people fell for the imperial myth, and showing genuine reasons to hate the rebellion.
I know this is an old comment but I would highly recommend the book lost stars by Claudia grey. Not only is it a really good introduction into star wars books but it also shows a lot of the imperial viewpoint. Really a great read and provides a lot of insight into the views of ordinary members of both the empire and the rebellion
I just rewatched Rebels, after the series ended back in 2018, and I gotta say the series has grown immensely on me. I think that because I saw it in trickle never really gave me a chance of connecting to it or remembering what had happen before. But now, after binge watching it I started to respect it a lot. Made me look for a good review on youtube, and that is how i got here. Great review, btw!
"The inquisitor's lightsaber was awesome and nothing like we've ever seen before" Me an intellectual: *Starwars the clonewars general grievous spinning electronic lightsaber*
One thing I love about Darth Maul’s death is that Maul tried to kill obi wan the same way he did with Qui gon. By hitting him in the head with the handle and it’s like obi wan is ready for it.
In Maul’s Season 3 arc, Ezra hears one of the holocrons calling out to him in his sleep in the middle of the night, so he goes to Kanan’s room to see what’s up. Kanan wasn’t in his room and pops up in the doorway. Where was he, hmm?
I also liked it more than The Clone Wars. The Clone Wars is good, but the structure of the show is a mess, it feels like it doesn't progress because of the lack of a chronological order for the overall story. I don't know if it's an anthology series or character driven one. In my opinion, an anthology series is not Star Wars and doesn't fit. Characters should be always on front.
i watched all of the clone wars and now that disney + is a thing im watching rebels for the first time i would much rather continue this show than rewatch the clonewars. thats just my opinion, the beginning of every clonewars episode with the narration is such a turn off for me and im more for story driven shows, with some goofyness mixed in.
I belive the correct list is S1: 2/10 S2:4/10 S34/10 Rest of the seasons up to six:4.3/10 Season 7:5/10 Clone wars man actually watch it with an open mind, belive me I did the same with rebels
@@AMoistBum I like all eras tbh. But there is something about Rebels that makes it more appealing to me: characters and the whole family structure that they represent
Awesome review! I can tell you truly watched and appreciated SW Rebel's, and your objectivity was spot on. SW Rebels will always be one of my favorite SW projects ever.
I hope they keep Thrawn alive and actually show that he played a major role in the formation of the first order. It just seems so fitting for his character.
@Robert Ortiz-Wilson Dave Filoni didn't write Thrawn... The new Thrawn books are written by Timothy Zhan the same guy that wrote the original EU Thrawn books. Timothy Zhan also co-authored and signed off on all the episodes of rebels that have Thrawn in them. Thrawn is Timothy Zahn's character and he is involved in anything that has Thrown in it. So maybe go tell Timothy Zahn that he ruined his own character.
People were way too hard on Rebels. Clone Wars was a great show, but it absolutely had its weaknesses, especially early on. It’s funny that people criticize Rebels for being too childish, when Clone Wars was clearly aimed at children, too. I appreciate your review!
It's theorized that based on how he looked in season 4, Rex was one of the rebel soldiers that were lead by han solo to take out the shield generator for the 2nd death star on the endor moon
I believe that Hera and Kanan where a couple throughout the whole series, but the writers didn't feel the need to make it obvious until the final season.
I like Rebels, but I don’t know if I want to except it as canon because it’s so childish so I never got into it. I have watched more episodes since Clone Wars S7 came out. Watching this I really love the story behind Rebels and it seems to get more mature like clone wars
I always avoided Rebels based on the things I had heard, but if you just accept it for what it is (which is a show made for a slightly younger audience than Clone Wars) then I think that's the gateway to appreciating it. And honestly, after season 1 and 2, the show does reach that Clone Wars level of quality at times.
Ignore trolls on the internet. Rebels is a well written series. Order for top 3 Star Wars shows: -The Mandalorian -Book of Boba Fett. -Rebels = The Clone Wars. The Clone Wars was also made for a younger audience. People forget the flop that was the first movie or they cherrypick stuff from show to make it better in comparison. Both The Clone Wars and Rebels have their pros and cons, both are flawed shows and not overall more consistent like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett (the worst episodes still are lightyears better than the worst The Clone Wars and Rebels episodes).
This is one of my favourite star wars reviews because you truly understand what your talking about unlike some movie reviewers cough cough Sean chandler

Scott thebassplayer i totally agree. The two shows share a lot of characters but the spirit is completly diferent.
And while the endlessly compare it to TCW, they somehow just seem to forget the large amount of awful, filler episodes TCW has.
@@godcaoss sooo many!!!! Love both series, but TCW by far had the most filler.

@@OnePiece-yy1lu THE Clone Wars is canon, but Clone Wars is not. These are two separate series. Also, why does it matter if it is Canon or not?

True.
JustHawk if you’re talking about clone wars I thought they were releasing it this year (season 7) if you’re talking about rebels🤮
Overall good review. Wish you would have done 2 things:

2. Kanan regaining his vision after sacrificing himself

It’s brilliant if you see anything about Vader outside of the films
I felt Star Wars rebels was pretty amazing when you think about what it had to work with when the Disney ownership provided many restrictions compared to the darker more amazing Clone Wars series. Had a bad first season but hey didn't Clone Wars have a meh first season too?
yeah
Agreed. I didn’t start really getting into TCW until season 3, then I was hooked until the very end.
Other than Rookies, Ryloth, a bit of Florum arcs, not really much stood out in that season.
Absolutely a fantastic tribute to the series! Well done! Can't imagine the amount of work that went into this!
“And I hope Resistance will be on par with Rebels and Clone Wars”

I actually don’t mind it. If you look past the goofy moments, it’s still a good run to watch at least once.
I was actually thinking of watching resistance. is it at least decent
Yeah Resistance definitely wasn’t on par with Rebels and Clone Wars
Yeah. I like the sequels but the resistance show sucks
Poor resistance they got dropped before they took off
I still enjoy it though
@Alex U. but Rebels and TCW were primarily appealing to kids too and another thing to consider is that I know a lot of kids who like Rebels and TCW but not any kids who like Resistance.
Clone Wars 2003 > The Clone Wars > > > > > Rebels > > > > > > > Resistance
If someone said Clone Wars is kids show and never had seen Clone Wars, he should watch Rebels first.
The inquisitor looks like the son from clone wars

Agreed, but let's be real the 2 shows are fully embedded in star wars continuity!
Ezra is 14 years so the same age as Luke, but the depicts Luke as a child yet Ezra and Luke are almost the same age so it doesn't make sense.
Yet Leia looks far older than 14, but Leia is the same age as Luke because there siblings. This makes zero sense to me.
Isn't Luke 19 at the beginning of A New Hope?
@JeswiCan Remember, this is before A New Hope, and Henry Nguyenbui, as for why Leia looks older than 14, that because at that time, all three (Luke, Leia, and Ezra) are older than 14, probably closer to 17 or 18 if I had to guess (He did say that when they got to Yavin IV, that it was a year before A New Hope.

So true. Worth it. And the final season of Clone Wars end of Feb. People have given Disney grief for their handling of Star Wars. Some of it justified. I would liked this show better if they had made the Empire more threatening, smart, and even more sympathetic. But instead they just made them the idiot bad guys
Gwace Gwace - but still smarter by a magnitude than the screaming space nazis - sorry, the First Order.
Thrawn, Vader, Tarkin, The Grand Inquisitor, and Kallus were what filled those parts mostly. Which I personally am fine with
@@REYTRACER eh...
@@saricubra2867 Yeah me too! But Clone Wars is a classic! But its nice to see another Rebels fan

@Tom Ffrench I think they were talking about the channels that are hating, not saying that Rebels was annoying :)
Order for top 3 Star Wars shows:
-The Mandalorian
-Book of Boba Fett.
