I inadvertently did a smart thing. I have old friends in Raleigh. I brought a lap quilt to give to one of them, which left a good amount of room in my suitcase for some new fabric and other goodies. Win win!
At my age and using an electric wheelchair, a trip to QuiltCon is not feasible. So thank you Karen, for your virtual videos for those of us unable to attend. Very enjoyable and informative.
Karen, I don't know if you realized...when you began talking about the fabric you found, your enthusiasm and excitement rose about 200 percent. It made me laugh out loud. I can so relate!
Not a bad QuiltCon haul, Karen! It was a pleasure meeting you while wandering through the show on Thursday. Thanks for graciously posing for a selfie with me and my friend! It was the highlight of the show for me.
Thank you for sharing. I’m hoping to attend next year. I joined the Modern Quilt Guild. As a newbie of only two years, although, I’m a confident beginner, I’m feeling a more of a modern Quilt person than the traditional. It has been fun always watching you and you are the one who has taught me with this techniques. I always recommend your videos to newbies. Someone commented recently in my Featherweight Group that I was a very accomplished quilter and I commented no I’m just not accomplished learner. you are one of the best instructors on technique that I’ve ever seen! Keep it up.
For the cork- try a wallet first. I hate bulky fabric wallets. But cork is thin and sturdy. And most patterns come with lots of card slots. I've been using my cork wallet for 3+ years and love it.
We lucked out this year. Quilt Con was only an hour away this year so me and my friends made a day trip of it. As a member of a traditional quilt guild, i loved getting a chance to see and enjoy fully modern quilts. The protest quilts are the most fascinating thing for me. They're like posters made of fabric
QuiltCon 2024 was amazing! I've wanted to attend since 2020 when I started watching your videos, and I finally got the chance in 2024. Meeting you was the icing on the cake; it felt like talking to an old friend. I wish we could have talked longer, but I had to step aside so others could have the chance to chat with you. You're just as lovely in person as you are in your videos. I'm honored you included our picture in this video. I hope you enjoyed the convention and learned new things. Thank you for inspiring us to make quilts!
I made some Christmas decorations using adhesive wash away. Great fun. I bought mine from my local quilt shop who had a big roll,of it. She has had it tucked away in the back of my store room for so long she could not remember when or from whom she bought in. She did however remember she had when I was describing what I wanted.
You came up on my feed and first thought was “I bet she bought fabric.” I just watched your video on how much fabric you have a few days ago. I just KNEW you wouldn’t be able to resist bringing some home. I was also delighted to see a photo of Jacquie Gering’s quilt. She continues to amaze me and her straight line quilting techniques were eye opening. Have a quilt ready for quilting and am using a variation of one of them. I haven’t done anything straight line for a while so am really excited about getting the started on it.
So excited to hear that quiltcon will be in Phoenix next year. I live here! Hoping I can make it for at least one day. I love the idea of the Rinse Away sheets. I'd like to try them.
Karen, you constantly provide me with so much inspiration. Thank you. ❤. I also enjoy following you around the shows you attend..even if only through UA-cam. If you ever make it to Australia for our quilt fairs,I would be so honoured and pleased to be able just to say "Hi"!
Thank you for this video. You just might have made me want to to go Phoenix!! And I really loved your improv hexagon. Do you have a tutorial on that quilt? I enjoy improv piecing (very relaxing and like a palate cleanser between projects) and think that would be a really fun way to use scraps.
QuiltCon was awesome again this year! I didn’t get to say HI to you in person, but I saw you from a distance a couple it times. Thanks for the wrap up and sharing your haul with us! I met Beth from your Quilt crew at my mini swap! 😊
I love By Annie patterns. It's easy to get sucked into bag making. I purchased a LOT of vinyl and notions and am not super excited to keep making bags. So I'll finish the few I have planned, sell off my stash, and go back to quilting, my first love. 😊 And I'm ok with having tried something new and not wanting to take it much further.
My goodness Karen I was surprised at the restraint you had in not buying more to take home. I also live in Canada and the cost of shipping those items we can’t easily get here can be shocking so I can imagine I would have been shopping with that thought in my head. I also loved that you went to a marble place. I collect them and I would love to go there. You have given me an idea for a summer road trip!
Cork is great to sew with! Love those beautiful colors! When I get bogged down with my quilting projects, I turn to making simple bags. Hope you get as much joy from bag making as I do!
@@GrandmaD2024 A tip for you: there is one corner that has a lot of bulk when you go to turn it out. On my second bag, I realized that after poking it out from the inside, I could make it look more square by pulling it out with a pin from the outside! Have a great weekend and enjoy your bag, which will be beautiful.
I like the travel fabric that you got because the last time I went to quilt expo in Wisconsin I did the same thing. I got things that would help me finish projects I already had. If you want to come it's early in September! ♥️
Congratulations on 395k! I have subscribed/followed you since the beginning! I love all your videos even the first! I am sorry I don’t have time for Karen’s Quilt Crew. I hope I can when I retire from my full time job. And always, always thank you for sharing! I appreciate you.
Thank you for sharing your haul :) I was hoping to get there this year but couldn’t due to health issues. I’m making a plan to go to Phoenix as it’s semi-driveable if I find someone to go along. Good for you taking a year to do as you wanted vs trying to record everything! I’m happy to hear you had such a great time! I love the fat quarters printed on one panel. I have purchased that way twice and will again after a few projects are completed.
You got some great things to bring home. I see some real enjoyment ahead. Fun to see you venturing a little out of your comfort zone. That backing really does go well with your UFO package, nice find. I haven't seen fat quarter yardage in awhile. I always thought that was pretty cool. I recognize quite a few faces in your photos. I see why those quilts caught your attention...for me, especially the horse one.
My mother used to make me play marbles with my brothers. She always made me give their marbles back after I won them all. Now you have me wanting some new rulers. I don't need more rulers. A quilt show can be a lot of fun. However, I always spend too much money when I attend one. I have learned to stay away from quilt shows, if I attend to wear a mask. Some people will go out of their way to be rude to me (when I wear a mask). I'm getting over a bad sinus infection; so, I will be staying away from the Regional Quilt Show to be held in Morehead, Kentucky, sometime this month. The vendors are going to miss me.
It was so fun to meet up with you again, Karen! I’m unable to join you on your upcoming cruise, as our family is going on vacation all together during that time. I also came home with quite a lot of quilting goodies, along with so much inspiration from all the quilts. I’m already looking forward to next year’s Quiltcon!
Okay, I love your channel, so am not a troll, lol. But it's"Appa-latch-an", not "Appa-lay-shun". Just a little thing I have about that pronunciation. Anyway....looks like it was a fun time, lots of inspiration! Thanks for the recap. I think I need some of those rinse away design sheets. I'm a newbie to embroidery and that looks like it might help.
I live in the Appalachian mountains and it's pronounced with a "ch" sound similar to a sneeze- ah-cha not the " sh" sound which many are trying to use these days. As if you were telling someone " I'm going to throw an apple at cha" ( that's hillbilly for you)😅.😊
Other than travel, lodging and food how much does it cost to go to Quiltcon? I have a nephew in Phoenix I can stay with and his mom and I are up to another road trip next year. Essentially what I’m asking is, are there tickets you have to buy to get in to see all the beautiful quilts and supplies to make a quilt?
I inadvertently did a smart thing. I have old friends in Raleigh. I brought a lap quilt to give to one of them, which left a good amount of room in my suitcase for some new fabric and other goodies. Win win!
Smart 👏👏👏
At my age and using an electric wheelchair, a trip to QuiltCon is not feasible. So thank you Karen, for your virtual videos for those of us unable to attend. Very enjoyable and informative.
The mini quilt with the barn quilt is precious!!
It is adorable! Is there a pattern available?
Karen, I don't know if you realized...when you began talking about the fabric you found, your enthusiasm and excitement rose about 200 percent. It made me laugh out loud. I can so relate!
Great info. Just turned to my hubby and said, “Let’s go to QuiltCon next year, it’s in Phoenix.” He said “OK” so I’ll be there 😀😀😀
🎉🎉🎉
Join the MQG in time to register for classes in August, if that’s something you’d like to do. A lot of them fill up on the first day.
Nice overview of the event!
I'm impressed by your restraint!
Not a bad QuiltCon haul, Karen! It was a pleasure meeting you while wandering through the show on Thursday. Thanks for graciously posing for a selfie with me and my friend! It was the highlight of the show for me.
Thank you
I will be attending next year as I live just outside of Phoenix. I attended the last time it was here and was blown away!
Thanks so much for featuring my quilt!❤😊❤
It was a beauty
Looking in from Melbourne Australia

Good for you 🤗🤗🤗
Quilt Con is on my Bucket List!
Great finds!
Once a fabric-holic, always one 😂 Not an insult, I promise. You are among friends.
I think you showed amazing restraint!,
I was at quilt con and saw you “buzzing” around. Couldn’t catch ya. Quiltcon was a wonderful experience.
Thanks for taking me along on your quilting adventure! I soooo want to do Quilt Con next year!
Great haul . I’m going to quilt festival in Houston this fall
Made me 😂 that you bought fabric! 15 years and counting. Looked like fun, wish I lived your side of the pond.
Karen, I smiled through this whole video😊. So many things! Thanks for sharing. It's the ppl! Yes! The art quilts are absolutely stunning!
Thanks for sharing, I have to say I love your ufo travel fabric they are so nice , my favorite colors too!
Congrats on your subscription total.😊
Wish I had seen you there! What a great show!
Beautiful and wonderful! 🌺
I had a good laugh, when you said, I guess that is why my stash is so large! Who can resist pretty fabric🤗.
For the cork- try a wallet first. I hate bulky fabric wallets. But cork is thin and sturdy. And most patterns come with lots of card slots. I've been using my cork wallet for 3+ years and love it.
Quilt Con in Phoenix Arizona! Yes, perhaps I can make it to that. 😊
We lucked out this year. Quilt Con was only an hour away this year so me and my friends made a day trip of it.

The protest quilts are the most fascinating thing for me. They're like posters made of fabric
They are so impactful
Omg I want that panel!!! ❤❤❤
I wish I had known about it when the world Barbie thing was going on.

What a find on the camera fabric. Perfect!
Thanks for sharing!
It looks like you came home with some great things and especially some happy memories.

What a great time - so happy you chose to 'attend' Quilt Con and enjoy meeting your friends and viewers.

Oh, I miss those busy but fun days already! Great to manage to have time to chat with you! xoxo

I'm glad you got to just enjoy 😉 the show! Self-care? - Check!
Thank you

I am starting my first zipper bag this weekend 🤞🤞im a bit nervous but excited! Im doing a hemmingway bag.
@@GrandmaD2024That bag is easy and turns out beautifully! Have fun!
Im gonna try! 🎉 thank you 😊

I met you as I was walking in. What a thrill!!! You are as warm as you seem❤😊
Thank you 🤗
That last quilt reminds me of a quilter i know. She makes amazing 1/2 hexie quilts that she hand sews and hand quilts.
I like the travel fabric that you got because the last time I went to quilt expo in Wisconsin I did the same thing. I got things that would help me finish projects I already had. If you want to come it's early in September! ♥️

Those quilts at the end of the video are awe inspiring!
Glad you like them!
Love, love, love your mini barn quilt. You lucked out for sure! She’s so talented!
Thank you so much! I enjoyed this video very much! ❤❤❤
Great items, and I can tell that you had a really good time!!
Thank you so many ideas

That was actually a quilt bee 🐝 quilt. I just love that one
"I guess this is how my stash got so big..." was that scripted? I laughed! Glad your QC experience was good!
Quilt Con is on my bucket list too!
Thanks very much for sharing!!

Totally love the barn quilt mini quilt you received in the swap!
Great haul! I hope you take us on your quiktmaking journey when you use your 8” clammy template. I have one but am intimidated to use it. 🥴
WOW I want to go next year!! And I absolutely LOVE Arizona!!!
It was so fun to meet up with you again, Karen! I’m unable to join you on your upcoming cruise, as our family is going on vacation all together during that time. I was trying to find a polite way to say this as well! The funny, if not so nice way is, if you say "App uh LAY cha," I'll throw an Apple-atcha!" 😂
Oops, I should have read more comments before posting mine. I said basically the same thing but not nearly as well😊.
I live in the Appalachian mountains and it's pronounced with a "ch" sound similar to a sneeze- ah-cha not the " sh" sound which many are trying to use these days. As if you were telling someone " I'm going to throw an apple at cha" ( that's hillbilly for you)😅.😊
Thank you for showing us some interesting items. I was planning on attending but ended up missing this year.
Next time!
How do you get everything home? Lol did u just check a giant bag?
That suitcase fabric is so cute! Also the fat quarters all in panel form is genius!!
Congrats on 395000
Hi from lexington Ma
❤
Is Quiltcon ever in Toronto? Nice haul. I’m so jelly you met up with Becca!!
It’s never been outside the USA
Missouri Star has 5" rulers
I love your shirt! Is it quilting cotton?
Rulers!!! I love them.. but how to store? Help!
I want to make the barn quilt
😀
Love that barn!!! Do you have source for that pattern?
Sorry, not made by me

Essentially what I’m asking is, are there tickets you have to buy to get in to see all the beautiful quilts and supplies to make a quilt?
Yes…one day and four day passes
Can you give info on how to get that Rinse Away sticky fabric, please!
It’s by wonderfil. Check out their website
Loving than roller skate fabric line! I roller skated with a (small) boom box on my shoulder as a kid! Would you be willing to the company?
Paintbrush studios
I'm a beekeeper too! I need your son's info so I can buy some of his honey and put it on my honey display!
hi just sells his at the end of the road
Where did you get the bee fabric?
Paintbrush Studios
Thanks!!!@@JustGetitDoneQuilts
I couldn’t make it to Raleigh b/c of cat medical issues, but I *will* be going to Phoenix! I went to the last one in Phoenix and it was great. 😊
planning to go in 2025
You show stickers but I think it was cut at the montage 😢
Hey Karen, are you going to Quiltcon next year??????
I sure am. I already booked my room. Does this mean we’ll have that long over due coffee together????
Omg!!! Yes it does!!!!! I can't wait to finally meet you!!!!
As I clicked on the video I was saying oh oh lol.Glad you had fun! 😀💖 Q: what would it mean to you to have 400000 subscribers?
Since I work on my own a lot, it would be reassurance I am still on the right course
