@ I can’t really remember for sure but I think the dishcloths were about $18 each and the towels like $38 a piece. They’re excellent quality. A blanket would definitely be an investment. 😊

I love this video so much!!!! Black creek pioneer village is my happy place; I love it. This summer my daughter and I got to use the loom. Not easy to do. Deborah, you’re amazing!!!! Trying to think if I remember Deborah at Black Creek. I talk to the weavers every trip there as well as all the staff in every building. I’m a realtor, I love old homes. I love Deborah’s space, it has so much character. In a world where everything is disposable, this is a breath of fresh air.

I’ve always appreciated hand woven items, but after seeing her work, and learning how it’s done, I will value my purchases much more. So interesting seeing how the loom works. I love your beautiful shirt, and her work is stunning.
As a self taught fiber nerd, spinner, knitter and yet to be weaver, I purchased a leclerc dorthy years ago I have yet to build the nerve for, wanting to weave myself kitchen linens but so many have told me 15" is to small for tea towels. I love and appreciate these videos and the information, perhaps because I share the same mindset.
Her work is beautiful. As someone who knits, I too didn’t realise that they cut up the staple when spinning it. Lately I’ve been buying from independent spinners and dyers. Thank you Rajiv, Deborah for making me understand that it’s more important to buy natural fibres and have fewer items that can last a lifetime as opposed to buying cheap/ artificial fibres that may last a year.❤️

And for pretty fabrics: It is so easy to just mend them. Towels, socks, tablecloths, bedthrows, even shirts and trousers... Use cute patterns or mend some actual things in. Bugs, butterflies, a sun... make it look pretty and you can still use it for years to come. I wonder if you, Rajiv, are also mend your beautiful fabrics? Modern people just throw everything away because the cheap and worthless fast fashion is just not worth repairing... 😟

The weaving is so lovely......Oh, I shared the information about those wonderful leather gloves you found in Florence, Italy with my son. He travels in that area on occasion for work. This was wonderfully timed. I am just finishing tying up my floor loom to start a project. I had it in storage due to a move, then other things kept getting in the way. I finally decided to make weaving a priority. I love to be inspired! And this video was just that. I love handmade things and historically accurate endeavors. It is always a part of my creative efforts as I plan my projects. Thank you for sharing another of my many subjects I enjoy and pursue.

The big indigo coverlet is very reminiscent of Welsh tapestry rugs. I am Welsh, both grandparents hail from a small island on the tip of north Wales, UK (though l say UK through gritted teeth, being Welsh). I have three bedspreads, and one blanket in various colours, and they are part of my heritage, and beautiful, and desirable. I love them. ❤
@@sophiablow3422 yes, very similar technique to the Welsh coverlets. It’s a double weave. It was a type of weaving done n 19th century Ontario. I love Welsh textiles.

This was wonderfully timed. I am just finishing tying up my floor loom to start a project. I had it in storage due to a move, then other things kept getting in the way. I finally decided to make weaving a priority. I love to be inspired! And this video was just that. I love handmade things and historically accurate endeavors. It is always a part of my creative efforts as I plan my projects. Thank you for sharing another of my many subjects I enjoy and pursue.

The big indigo coverlet is very reminiscent of Welsh tapestry rugs. I am Welsh, both grandparents hail from a small island on the tip of north Wales, UK (though l say UK through gritted teeth, being Welsh). I have three bedspreads, and one blanket in various colours, and they are part of my heritage, and beautiful, and desirable. I love them. ❤
@@sophiablow3422 yes, very similar technique to the Welsh coverlets. It’s a double weave. It was a type of weaving done n 19th century Ontario. I love Welsh textiles.
Beautiful and has made me think, even more, about the quality of items I purchase and use.
