Just listen to how far Treys come as an instrumentalist.... He's playing like a Master. His finesse and use of silence to give notes poignancy, depth and dimension has blossomed in these later years. He learned when not to play and makes the notes he chooses count. His tone is impeccable and contains within it a vast landscape of texture and color - from feather like delicateness to searing magma.... Bravo! Love this fucking guy. Proud of you man!
Goddamn son! Treys solo starting at 3:00 is.....so gorgeous, melodic, elegant, powerful. He takes a couple outside runs there with note choices that lift the song melody he’s riffing on into a multi-dimensional space for a few moments. And then his tone....Lord have mercy! Beautiful work man!! Love who you’ve grown to become so much. Thank you
@Starwind ..ditto brother, i could not have stated that any more clearer. All those who feel Trey got or is getting "soft" In these later years don't understand the melodic journey these guys have gone on and matured as a band. Learning when "not to play" as you stated in my opinion is one of the sole reasons these guys have a renewed joy in making music together.. and thank the heavens for it. Only musician still alive who can give me the chills by flaring off melodic solos in that signature/ unique trey tone.. Peace~
Brother!! Even more beautifully said. I feel you. There’s so much joy, majesty and freedom when you can find your way into those nuances in a song. That feeling of laughing and crying at the same time
3:10-4:25 Stunning guitar work Trey. He achieved that effect in his melodic phrasing where through timing and tension and release it sounds like the solo ‘lifts off’ - the ceiling of the melody he’s orbiting around peels back and expands into a different dimensional space. A peak within a peak. Jerry was a master at that. Y’all know what I’m talking about?
