there's a company in Denver called Left Hand Utes who import them and convert them to LHD. They're all ready to be registered in the states too because they use parts from cars available locally I think. Check them out for sure

No that is a VF SS the hsv is ss and a different company partnered with Holden puts a body kit on it, better brakes, bigger engine, wheels ect and makes it in to a hsv you can google it if you want but I’m not trying to be rude

Taking all the chrome off this thing really helped. The lines are pretty good. No longer looks like a Malibu with a body kit. Nice car.

Why the fuck would he convert Club sports into a maloo. Utes (Pick ups), wagons and sedans all come from the factory. And no, this vehicle is not a Chevy SS. It's a Holden Club sport.
Tasman McMillan This is a Chevy SS just with Holden badges. The SS is all we get in the US. The man in Denver converts the Chevy SS into Holden vehicles that use the same planform. Its the only legal way I am aware of where you can have a Maloo Ute in the US with a US title.
Abe Lincoln The chassis of a commodore ute is quite different to the sedan and wagon versions. A lot safer and cheaper to import one and convert. It's the same way with importing any vehicle to any country. Follow the legal requirements of your transport agency and tax department and it should be fine. People have been doing it for decades with the mustang and american ute range into australia. It's also the same in reverse.

With the shit engine though, the American SS always got the LS3, only the 2016 refresh got it in Australia - prior to that it was the horribly hobbled and feeble L77, unless you bought an HSV model at a huge increase in price - so if you are paying 30K for a 2014 model you are getting a car that can get its ass handed to it by a $8,000 Nissan Stagia (and any number of other much cheaper cars).

I love both the SS and the Hellcats, I've always had a soft spot for the SS and considered getting one. But in my opinion the chargers have WAY more road presence. To the average person this looks like a Malibu with a paint job, only car enthusiasts can appreciate the SS for how special it is. The charger is styled much more aggressively, and it has "what is that" factor. But they do have a point, you wont find an SS in a rental fleet, but i see tons of chargers in rental fleets. Either way both the Hellcats and the SS are awesome cars and I want to own both some day.

In Australia, we are able to get these from the factory with an LSA and they look significantly more aggressive. We also get the ute and wagon variants. They're probably the best car the world never got to see, and we won't get to see them anymore either.

Aden Molyneux-Cole the Chevrolet SS is produced in American factories with the steering wheel on the left a few design design tweaks. Also a different engine. Not a Holden. A Chevrolet.
Its the same engine, and it really is the same car, that said the engine is obviously american.
Look it up, the Holden has a 6 Liter and the Chevy a 6,2 Liter.

Series II VF Commodore SS has the 6.2L. Regardless any engine can be swapped, its still the same car.

Its originally a Holden made in Australia then usually they have a Chevy badge which looks crap and gives it a hint of cancer so people put a Holden badge on it.

As an Australian. If a guy drove a Holden commodore here in Australia with that sound coming out of it, he would be laughed at. What you need is *_twin 3" stainless engine-back exhaust system 1&3/4 headers._* Search up what's in bold italics and you mouth will water.
The paint job and decals are so perfectly balanced. The creator of that has real style. It looks incredible. The wheels as well.
If I lived in the states or Australia and if I had a good enough job to cover this, this would be somehwere at the top of my list. Or a 535i e60 bmw. Both manual of course.

You see that's called a Holden Commodore SS where I'm from Australia and you see them over here one in every 5 cars on the road and as you mentioned in the video that they are rare in the US it's same like the Mustang or a Camaro they are very rare to see on the road in Australia too.

Update 2021 - Mustangs GTs everywhere in Oz now, see them all the time.

I rather like the understated look, I seen one on the freeway the other day and I almost forgot that's what is was. But it's a good thing, you'll roll a guy in his SN95 GT trying to pass you but you won't attract police attention. That's why I like sleepers

Well here in Australia its used more like an economy car. The SS is kinda the base model V8. If you want something sportier, you get the Commodore SS Redline or the Black Edition.
The only folks that paid the MSRP for one of these were the ones with the manual transmission. I just got my 2016 SS last week for $38500usd.

Thats why it handles sooooo good... The Chassis was designed for this reason.

Here in Australia we have guys adding mods that are producing 1100HP. The gear can be taken off when you have finished and return the car to complete stock. Pity the Yank bosses decided to can building cars in OZ.

We have base model SS in our work fleet, they're very very nice to drive. Very powerful as a factory car. Commodores are roomy, affordable, long lasting.
My personal car is an older V6 that still burns off modern cars at the lights. When they're gone, it will be a sad day for motoring.

I own a 2014,Love it .A true 4 door sleeper.
It is based off of a lower-end vehicle though....just pointing out a mistake so no one is misinformed! The Chevrolet Impala is the base vehicle and with sufficient options chosen can be easily mistaken for an SS to the uninitiated. Loved the video otherwise! Great car, great presentation, nicely done!

Arent reliable? haha give me some facts about the ENGINE. After a $300 tune you are already over 400 HP. You can get a used SHO for way cheaper then an SS. And since it looks just like a Taurus its an even better sleeper.
The sho drives exactly like a big heavy sedan with 350 hp. Not even remotely as fun to drive as an ss. It's nice but somehow bigger outside but less room on the inside compared to an ss. Sounds like shit. 6 speed automatic slightly better but nothing special. Definitely not a better value. Yah you can tune but that's pretty much it. Nothing in the aftermarket besides tune and some exhaust. LS has one of the biggest aftermarket of any engine.
Still a sho is a great sleeper but not sure it's a better value than a ss, definitely not a better car.
I like how in America it's a "niche market enthusiast" car, whereas here in Australia it's the average family sedan, comparable to the sales of a Camry.
We don't get cars like this here. No different than the cars we have that Australians don't get. This is a great sporty family sedan. It's either this or the tank of a car Fiat calls a Charger that does not offer a manual.

I was in Sydney 3 months ago and the company rented me 2016 Holden Commodore SV6 Storm (6 cylinder with GPS) from AVIS which I picked up at the airport. Contrary to what these two guys said, it felt heavy. yes it may have ~ 280 HP, 257 lb-ft of torque but on the way to Katoomba? three sisters mountain, a Ford Falcon out accelerated me on the modest uphill. In summary: heavy and lack low rpm torque.

Visibility is probably just OK. You need something like a Mercedes W210 or old Honda Accord to get at least good visibility.
I think the owner should swap out the 6L80E for the 6L90E. Or even the Tremec 6060 manual that comes stock in the 2015 Chevy SS. The 6L80E tends to melt and fuse clutches when higher than stock horsepower and torque is applied. Even when it is modded. The boys at Circle D Specialties in Houston TX seem to be the most knowledgeable on these transmissions.
The vf commy is on the zeta platform . They made the camaro on the same platform so the camaro handles the same as a commy .
This is based of a lower model. Its called the Commodore Omega with a 3.6 V6 with an auto. Fleet car special.
You guys do realise this is based on a Holden Commodore which has a lot of models bellow it such as 4cyl sv6 which is a 6cyl and we also have a HSV LSA with the same ls3 but I still love the videos

you can buy a supercharge ss from the factory in Australia. its called a hsv gts & you can also get it in a ute version called a hsv maloo.
this is actually a tuned car the base of this car is a 3.0l V6 the ss is the lowest v8 variant of the VF / Gen-f chassis but still features tuned suspension and bodykit from factory
So a lot of Americans seem to think this is a Chevy because it was purchased in the US as one but it isn't the "Chevy ss" was built in Australia at the Melbourne port Elizabeth factory in Victoria as a left hand drive variant and then imported into the US with Chevy badges and then sold in Chevy dealerships but it's really a left hand drive converted Holden VF commodore ssv, In Australia these cars had many different models and trims from a standard 3.6 v6 auto fleet cars and sv6 sports v6 variants to the HSV models like the gtsr w1 and maloo ute the only American part of the cars are the motor and transmission which are changed slightly in the Australian factory's anyway this model ss isn't meant to stand out its just a regular family sedan with a big v8 and suspension that's comfortable yet very capable of holding itself when being pushed in the corners as these cars and previous models have been used for touring car racing in Australia for many many years

Well, experience with the LS3's has taught me, that unless the engine is fully built, it won't live long with 600 rwhp. This car is $42-48k new, and to get it to this level is another $20k.... I'd rather get a Charger hellcat, and a few simple upgrades costing under 2k extra total, and I'm at 700 rwhp.
You guys may get the LSA version of the SS soon... here in Aussie land, the HSV R8 makes 536hp and the GTS makes 577hp from the factory.
But they lose a lot of power through their heavy duty drivelines.... expect around 460whp (DynoJet) for the stock GTS

I don't really like the current V8 Supercars. Very NASCARY because of how each car is the same under. I love the old 70's touring car era. The new improved production series is like it but with a mix of new and old cars. V8 Supercars needs to return to the format of getting a regular car, putting a roll cage in it and putting on a few race parts and then hauling it around a race track, and to homlogate any parts, make special editions that are street legal and available to the public.
You're so lucky bro driving all those fancy cars... I'm as old as you and the only thing I can drive is a 2001 E46 and a 2010 E87
It is funny watching this as an Australian, these are everywhere, the low spec commodore is the most common car here. On a 15min drive I will see at lest 5, one of which will be a sports model like this one.
