My first job in sales was selling the Adler SE1000 in 1977, and then the Adler SE1000CD back in 1978 in Toronto, Canada. It was a great machine, and in fact superior to a comparable IBM Selectric11. It was also priced well above the IBM model. So that was always a challenge in overcoming price. And also most secretaries were familiar with the IBM brand and not so much with Adler. All that being said, I sold a good number of the Adler SE1000CD typewriters to law firms and it was a great apprenticeship in selling capital goods to business.
Have not seen a Hermes in 35yrs, used to work on those way back, had a school contract with a classroom full of them IBM selectric's are the real survivors of the typeball typewriters
Kinda odd that Royal would make the power roll with rubber all the way across when it only powered a few things at certain places. The only reason that would make sense,is if it were reversible.
