Nice Job servicing those aging auto locks on the dwindling old car market. Glad your using your experiences, and the experience of all the older locksmiths documenting these lost art jobs. My new car has ZERO Keyed Locks. Car is Bluetooth connected to my phone..

The way the extra cutting wheels on the HPC1200 rotate while they vibrate makes me nostalgic. Excellent video. First one I've seen on the Lishi cutter being used even though I know it's been around for a minute.
And I'm glad I kept my blue cards after my 1200 got stolen out of my van. I forgot the amount of information on the back of them that isn't included when a card is printed using Genericode.

I've impressioned a couple of padlocks even though it would have been cheaper to replace them, and one cam lock. This is most definitely an art that takes time to learn. Great video Jason

Kevin Koepke A similar handy tip for those with two vehicles that both take the same key blank is cutting one side of the key for each car, giving you one key that will start both vehicles.

Nice! I've got one of those locks in my collection. Haven't been able to pick it, yet lol. But that's not saying much. I've got a few locks I haven't been able to pick. Main one being an Abus 72/40 LOTO with a bunch of spool pins. My pick won't get back to #6 and up high enough. I end up oversetting the rest of the pins trying to get to it every time.

I watched this again, for the impressioning tips. However, what I learned was to always count the pins/discs. Few people would have caught that you'd need to supply the customer 4 keys--one for each cut in the #6 position.

Great job, at least the guy will have spares depending on which one works!

I found on this older style of auto key, namely a wider flat blade motorcycle key, that shallow cuts would chip the leading edge but not cut all the way through, leaving a sloping edge I couldn't then add to. It would continue to follow the same cut path.. I could continue it with a file, but that seems like it isn't the point.
Deeper cuts were fine and square, but making tiny adjustments to non brass keys didn't seem to be possible with my lishi cutter.
Had to wonder if I had a bad cutter, or if this just wasn't going to work out.

They show a 4 cut next to a 1 cut on the card so it must not be an issue?
Edit: lmao I was about 3 seconds ahead of you pointing it out in the vid 🤣👍

And on the chance ignition has been changed since the 80s, neither 4 keys will work...

Why didn’t you use the fill program from lock codes to get the code? It would have told you that the last cut was a 1.

I ran into a lock that kicked my ass I’m an hvac guy and I basically a contractor for a particular bank. Please do a video of What are the differences between all the different locks passage entry storeroom I don’t know what to order lol ... please help

    • @selock
      @selock  5 років тому

Great idea! The standard items are Passage (non locking) Privacy (locks, but can be opened with a coin, etc used on bathrooms) Entry (standard key locking with button inside) Classroom (key locking, no interior button) Storeroom (always locked)
Some of the Sargent and other Mortise locks use all kinds of numbers and codes and such for a wide variety of functions beyond those cylindrical locks.
I can do a video on that for sure, I completely understand being confused by functions!
