Thank you SO much for this video. I was a kickstarter for the pop2 (also backing the mini) and I'm said to say that I had no idea how to properly 3D scan or use the tools properly. This video made it so much clearer and a great starting point on my 3D scanning journey. Again, thank you so much for the video!
Hey Bob , congrats on your new tool , take your time , there is some learning curve , but once you are more familiar with, things going to be more clear and easier , it is not rocket science after all 😉 thanks for the support and if you ever run in trouble drop me a comments !
just subscribed, I am wondering on buying MINI for scanning 30mm do 40cm objects, I believe this scanner still has unused potential that will be discovered with revoscan 5.0. Am I correct ?
Hi Marcin , thank you ! Yes that would be the best choice for this type of objects , Revo Scan 5 already have greater way of producing scans with MINI as ever before , better tracking , finer details , easy to merge multiple angle scans for the perfect details in each corner . I will be working this week on new Tutorials in RS5 with all Revopoint devices , stay tuned . And definitely yes, there will be new features in the future that will evolve the MINI hardware to the next level . I collaborate with the team on that .
Thanks for the video. Why do you prefer to stop and export parts of the scan instead of pausing the scan, change the orientation of the model and then continue to scan?
That's how you scan professionally, changing rotations and over scanning areas will create very messy point cloud with a lot of overlapped areas that not always clean well , so to get the perfect accuracy I prefer to scan only one rotation at a time . It is good to learn the manual way .. you never know when you need it .
I'm new to scanning and I'm trying to learn fast. I make miniature items for dollhouses on my 3D printer. I do not know how to use the revo studio at all!! What program are you using in this video before you transfer to revo studio? I see many ppl using this but I have no clue..lol Could you make a video on how to use the revo studio also? TIA
First I scan it with Revo Scan and after import it to Revo Studio for merging . Watch the video , it is about how to use Revo Studio . And at the end of the video I used Cloud Compare , you can also find video on my channel with tutorial but it is more advanced software. You can also check my other videos with Revo Scan to get familiar with the process , in most cases you don't have to even use Revo Studio at all .
Thank you, yes I tried but I run into limitations where volume parts smaller than 2mm will be not captured ( not talking about the surface details as they are fine , talking about volume ) , I do dental modeling wax work for my clients , and also jewelry design but I reach already the limitations, the new upcoming MINI by Revopoint may be the answer for that since it will have 0.02mm accuracy what is needed to produce accurate scans of objects with that size of volume. The only successful scans I had was with a dental cast of the inner mouth ( no teeth ) was was pretty accurate , sadly I can't scan teeth or crowns with that precision what is needed by professionals .Also scanned 19mm ring , but it was on the bigger size without smaller elements below 2mm in diameter .
great video, i jsut started to use revo studio and when i edit my file and export, my textures are no longer their. is there a way to edit the file and export with the texture ?
Hi, thanks ! when you edit your model , your UVs are not more available after altering the model geometry and can't be recovered . If you editing model use RGB mode ( do not create textures in Revo Scan ( only mesh it and export) , and work on a model that have only RGB color per vertex data , this way after editing or merging you will still have the color data , that can be easily converted to a textures using Meshlab or Zbrush or Blender . You will need to create new UVs and then convert the color per vertex into the new UVs .in the programs . I did asked the developers team of Revopoint to add the ability to convert RGB to Textures in Revo Studio , becouse the way it is created in Revo Scan , can't be reproduced again in Revo Studio at this moment .
In CC you can change the background under Display options, in Revo Studio not yet , I asked already for dark theme . I prefer to work with dark gray backgrounds too.
I used CloudCompare after Revo Studio , but if you download the latest Revo Scan 5 .o.7 you really don't need to go all the troubles anymore , everything is now in the house
Thank you for your comments @herber101 , there is not high definition texturing involved with POP2 , the textures are on a lower quality sadly and very fuzzy it need lots of work to edit, if you scan humans you can go away with it , but if you want fine details sadly not . I need to texture my models manually if I have too . Would you be interested to see the manual process ?
I looked up this video bc I was confused about downloading the files and sorting through the abundance of files I just extracted for the revo scan program. Pls help
Can you be more specific ? Do you mean you don't know what file to use in Revo Studio after scanning with Revo Scan ? You can use fuse or mesh files it depends of what you exported , normally when you export, you will get mesh and point cloud (fuse) you can use both formats for merge in Revo Studio . If anything else please specify your question.
P.S you don't need to export anything , you can find all files under the project folder of the scanned session , there you will find fuse files (point cloud) or mesh file , no matter which files you load into Revo Studio or CC , you can merge them together . Check for my last video with the Battery scan , it would be much easier for you to follow without much haste.
@@PUTV3D thank you for being so thoughtful, I was only extracting files for the initial download of the three main revopoint programs I’m successfully scanned the head and learned the process for merging two scans together. Im confident in scanning something for a friend now
@@pmf2910 well my whole PC was almost $10K at the time of build , I did not included 4 x Nvidia Titan X .. but this really don't matters for scanning .. I do my work professionally , but you can buy a refurbished Dell latitude 2-1 win10 tablet PC for $350 with i7 &16GB and still do the job the same way .. the difference ? slightly slower processing , I would not go below 16GB of RAM and 32GB of RAM would be optimal to have a quiet mind regarding scanning and processing

Excellente work. You should try little objets like jewelry or dental cast to see how good reproduce little details. Thanks.

Would you be able to do artistic wood carving scans ? Like the ones in Indian temples.
Well you would be able to do scans like that , sadly I have no access for carvings like that . I wish I had .
is it possible to change the background color of these apps? that white is going to give me eye fatigue in no time :(

is cloud compared needed? or is reco studio good enough?
No you don't need CC for this tutorial , CC was just additional bonus info. You can do it all in Revo Studio
