In Scotland, distillers use barrels until they fall apart, but in the usa...distillers can only fire and use them once. So nice to see such a work of sonic art out of wood that can only hold whiskey once...nice!
You could give this guy a shoe box and some fishing line and he would find a way to make it sound good

There were two men who, when they walked into a room full of great guitars, the guitars got nervous, began sweating, worried that they wouldn't be good enough for these guitar players....... We lost one, SRV....... But make no mistake about it my friends.....Justin Johnson carries on without peer. What a fantastic talent! Thank you for showing us how to "un box" a guitar! ;)

I know exactly what you mean about the whiskey smell. At work one time a few years ago, I ran out at lunch time and bought two half-whiskey barrels to plant roses in for my back patio. Had a VW van at the time and it was rainy, so I left the windows closed. When I got in after work to drive home, the interior aroma would knock you out! You're an amazing guitarist, Justin. Love all your videos!

BigDGuitars yeah my dad has been buying be guitars like Gibson’s and fenders since I was a kid and now I have a job I want to get him one that has the sound and feel and look that he’s into and this guitar captures all of those, I’m definitely gonna get one for him, he’s gonna love it

Unintended consequence. I am on the blood thinner Eliquis and have been warned to NEVER touch a drop of booze again. But, Lord help me I could smell the fermented corn mash in that oak guitar body. And though it's gonna kill me I will have a Jack Danials boiler maker. Why did you have to debox that guitar so? Pray for me, Justin.
Who else was eyeballing the old looking wooden wall and door behind him all through this and going, "hmmmmmmmm".....just me? OK.
Not only it gonna be twangier in bridge position as opposed to neck but especially when you swap the humbucker to the neck position!!! A single coil is a twangier sounding pickup period in contrast to a humbucker........Let alone the placement.....Still cool, definitely different from traditional placement but personally I prefer the power in the lead setting and the classic neck position single coil.....Awesome guitar though for sure!!!!
I don't know how much you like blues harmonica,but I love playing along with you,I usually play a G Or E it sounds awesome

Maybe to get a label deal you should put together a small band of Native Americans musicians to accompany your wonderful guitar playing. You could call your band ???. You name it. Keep on playing and amazing your audience.
Most folk take a little bitty pair of scissors or pen-knife to open cardboard packages, Justin takes out a proper knife that any hunter would be proud off 😁👍 Guitar excellent, playing pretty good too *winks* 😁

Hey Justin Johnson try a Seymour Duncan hot rails Style Blues pickup with a sustainiac it would be a good combo whether you're using slide or fretting techniques and locking tuning keys

Wouldn't wood from an old barrel be curved? Did they straighten the wood out in order to build a guitar from them? Or is Jack Daniels using square shaped barrels?

Man.....great sound, and awesome look. Oak is a great wood, made me a jazzbass once, deep sound with a bright top, though my tools got dull faster than other wood.
