Basically the budget is 2500$ but I might go up to 2700 if there is very good deal. What laptop would you recommend 🤔? Thank you beforehand.
This laptop is expensive, but so is any high performance device! The difference unlike 2080m or low tdp 3080m before it is this level of performance from 175watt 4090 truly a game changer. A somewhat compact laptop can offer 3090 desktop power and be put in a bag for travel. In terms of comparison to PS5/Series X, it would still be competitive well into a PS6/Next Xbox product cycle. I have the HP Omen 16 (2023) with 13700HX, RTX 4080 and the 240hz QHD Screen. Strangely for me the Omen Gaming Hub doesn't show the undervolting tab, although it technically is the same processor as in the bigger 17" model you so thoroughly tested in this great video. Maybe HP removed the feature from their software over the past months. Sadly the bios is still locked down and neither throttlestop, nor XTU are able to undervolt the CPU. In the end it's not a huuuge deal, but a bit sad nonetheless, especially for folks that like to tinker with their hardware. My settings are: - Display -> Color -> Brightness enhancement -> All Colors = 25 - Display -> Color -> Contrast enhancement -> All Colors = 19 Have a play, it's worth a try. Trust me, it's a game changer..
It would be perfect if HP omen would get MSI like BIOS, with combo ctrl+shift+alt+f2 i got more settings that i had in desktop. You can turn on the RBAR or do anyother adjustment. But overall the best new laptop so far
I don't know if Hogwarts was played with the latest patch, but it is confirmed that it improved performance for all GPUs. So that might be the reason it went ahead of the other two.
Perfect review perfect video I was thinking about asus rog strix g18 rtx 4080 $2500 but this is better around $200 more and rtx 4090 performance 👍👍👏👏 What you think people please let me know if I can trust HP OMEN
Hello my friend, do you think hp omen 4090? Or is it the asus rog strix 4090? Or are they the 4080 model ones? I would appreciate it if you could answer, have a nice day
Sorry I am confused "It looks like Throttle Stop and Intel extreme didn't let us make any changes but at least you can undervolt your main CPUs" How did you manage to undervolt if you can't use Throttle Stop or intel tuning app?
I currently have a RTX 3070 Ti laptop but I want to upgrade. Would you recommend buying this laptop as of today and how long would you think it would last me?
The game is still CPU bound--so lower GPU utilization. But Frame Generation still gives us a tremendously better visual experience with a smoother experience overall.
@@GizmoSlipTech Sure, framerate is state-of-the-art, however, CPU is about 20%... So I believe it doesn't limit GPU here? I am wondering as maybe we are facing some other limitations in this laptop, which may impact an overall value in a long-term, while playng in more demanding games in the future.
Seems at first glance like the chassis is unchanged from the 2022 model, although I've seen somewhere some very slight differences in dimensions and overall weight, so not sure. What about the QHD screen, any idea if it's the same screen as the '22?
That cooling system worries me. I live in a very hot country and will not always be in an air conditioned area. I think the gigabyte Aorus 17H has better cooling
Hey i need an opinion, if i had to choose between a HP Omen 17, i7-13700HX, RTX 4090,16 gb ram and 512 ssd for 2450$ vs a Lenovo 16" Legion Pro 7i with RTX 4080 Graphics + 2560 x 1600, 240 Hz Display + Core i9 24-Core CPU for 2150$, wich one do you recomend for rendering apps such as blender?
What in the holy hell is that power brick (power box?). I'm shocked how so many can't get a power brick right, making them massive, heavy with way too short a cable. How is it only Razer seems to get it right?
That's the same power brick they've been using for like the last five years or more. The razer one is lower wattage at 280w vs this 330w and the razer is a much more expensive GaN charger. They could have easily switched to a GaN charger as well but it's not worth the expense for a desktop replacement that runs at full power. A lot of razers put caps to keep the thermals and power in check in their thin chassis. I'm sure there's a way to use non-HP GaN chargers, even the razer one, if you really wanted to. That's at your expense though.
Thank you very much or the review, I have found an excellent price for it (2500€) and I'm on the brink of buying it. I have one question I can't find an answer for : does it have a MUX switch? Thanks!
my omen 17 is hitting 100c on the i7 processor with games before the fan ramps up to keep it under, i don’t notice a loss in performance is this normal?
Hello, thanks for your amazing review. In your opinion this Laptop would be ok for running smoothly software like AutoCAD and Cinema 4D (Arnold 7 - Vray5) with 16GB of ram only? Thank you so much...the reason why I'm asking is that the price changes really a lot with 32 or 64 GB of RAM 😁
I have not ran those applications, so I am not sure. I imagine some projects may want more VRAM depending on how complicated it is. In terms of rendering performance, it should be similar to desktop 3090, but with less vram.
Can you please test the Omen 16 / I7 13700HX / 4080 ? I choose it over the 17‘ because in Germany it had the better screen (160 vs 240hz) Paid ~1900€ for it with the HyperX cloud 2 core bundle :)
Hi everyone, I been looking to buy a bigger gaming laptop to use as a portable desktop of sorts... after some research i am stuck between hp omen 17 rtx 4080 or asus rog strix g18 rtx 4080 as they are both in similar price ranges in my country with the asus being slightly more expensive ( Hp at 85000 Turkish Liras and Asus at 90000/ rougly 3000 USD.) I am looking for some advice on which one would be a better purchase at the similar prices in terms of build quality, gaming and work performance, cooling and etc.
Alien has more tdp on cpu but i see temperature 110 on pick and omen will be better because not have sence in alien big price and u just need to undervolt to omen tdp cpu to dont see over 100 c temperature.
@@GizmoSlipTech Thanks! Just some questions from me, is the 4090 worth it over the 4080 if all I'm doing is pretty much going to be playing E-Sports game at 1440p? Maybe a Triple A Singleplayer game every now and then. The reason I ask is because I am interested in getting the Scar 16 with the 4080. Another thing is screen size and display. Does 16 inches get in the way of games like LoL/Valorant/Apex? Would go for 18 inches but the Mini-LED Display sounds amazing to have. Edit: Ah also, I wonder what the VR Capabilities of these Laptops are?
this is my second return in a month, initially a powerful PC ok, but it heats up too much on the CPU and a refeed does not change anything, the second had the same problem in addition to a faulty motherboard, all those who have this model has overheating issues. I just got the Omen 17 ck2059nr and notice alot of stutter in games. The frames are there but just not as smooth as the games should play. I set the power to performance and watched many videos for the Nvidia control panel and nothing seems to get it right. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have a question. There is a sale where I am and I am able to buy either the OMEN 17 Gaming Laptop 17-ck2002na - NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090 (2023) or the OMEN 17 Gaming Laptop 17-ck2000na - NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4080 (2023) for practically the same price with the 4090 laptop at around 2000$ and the 4080 being at 1900$. But Im not sure which one to purchase due to there being a lack of information in regards to their differences. I wouldnt be doing any overclocking so which one would you reckon is the most worth it. - The Cpu and Ram specs are i9-13900hx - 32gb ddr5
anyone got that 17 inch omen ? I wanna get it as my 2019 legion y540 replacement. Would get rog strix g17 but the coil whine issues make me Disappointed.

I know this is months later but stay away from the g18 I've seen nothing but issues on that one. The hp is the best for pure performance but you give up some other features and higher quality of the others.
@Jtwizzle can you be more specific about issues? I didn't purchase one yet, and I was planning to get g18 4080, sice other options aren't much available here in uzb
@JohnWilliams-hq5yp check out best buy reviews. Coil whine, backlight bleed are the most common. It was my top pick for a while before all the negative reviews started coming in. Right now I see the hp omen 17 with i9 and 4090 for 2500. Very tempting but there are some issues with it as well like potential overheating, screen wobble etc.
I've got this machine, but it's an intel i9 13900HX and it comes with 32GB of ram, does anyone know if it can be upgraded to 64GB as i can't find any information anywhere online or in manuels and HP say 2 different things. Or if there is a way to findout in the laptop itself?
So I'm thinking about Buying this laptop. I have an Asus g17, forgot which model it was but It has an rtx 3060. My experience with the Asus laptop is that the GPU comes as the version with the most tdp possible, and I don't need to undervolt the pc. My question is, is the rtx 4090 that comes with his HP laptop is the one with the max tdp? I also wanna know do I need to undervolt this laptop in order to get better temps or can I use it without Undervolting? I don't want to undervolt because it not only cancel the warranty but I also fear that I mess it up, so I want to know if this laptop is worth it. In my country this laptop is being sold for 9k, and the Asus ones goes for 12k so I wanted to know is it worth the 3k difference or should I stick to Asus? (Exchange rate is a bitch 😢)
The Razer Blade laptops are always the biggest rip off, I don't really get how they manage to keep getting ppl to buy their laptops when their value is so low compared to their competition. But I bought this HP Omen with 24-core i9, 64gb ddr5 ram, 2tb+2tb m.2 ssd, 16gb rtx 4090 for ONLY $3,000~!!!! All other laptops with these specs besides maybe one Lenovo model but otherwise all with same specs run as high as $4500, prolly $4,000 on average. It's hard for me to imagine greater value being possible to find out there currently. The *only* downside is that the only shipping method offered had my new laptop making it to me by This coming Thursday. >< . Gonna be a long four days lol Also great content to creators of this vid, but there was one spot ive noticed so far where yalls volume jumps up real fast.

I ensure you, you will get an amazing screen, colours and brightness are actually quite good. My settings are:
- Display -> Color -> Brightness enhancement -> All Colors = 25
- Display -> Color -> Contrast enhancement -> All Colors = 19
Have a play, it's worth a try. Trust me, it's a game changer..
Would you recommend the i7 13700HX RTX4090 over the i9 13900HX for better value in gaming?
Is the SSD and Ram removable?
no its welded
nice review, thermals are a bit worrying?
It would be perfect if HP omen would get MSI like BIOS, with combo ctrl+shift+alt+f2 i got more settings that i had in desktop. You can turn on the RBAR or do anyother adjustment. But overall the best new laptop so far
Hi:) Nice Video !! Do you think with 13900/4090 difference will be noticeable ?
Im getting the i9 with rtx 4090 for 2399 usd should i buy it vs the rog strix 18 rtx 4080 for 2199usd???
Hey, which one did you purchase? I'm getting the i9 4090 for around $1800 now. Not sure how good this laptop is going to be.
I don't know if Hogwarts was played with the latest patch, but it is confirmed that it improved performance for all GPUs. So that might be the reason it went ahead of the other two.
Tnx man a wonderful review
Yeah I’m thinking of getting this
Perfect review perfect video I was thinking about asus rog strix g18 rtx 4080 $2500 but this is better around $200 more and rtx 4090 performance 👍👍👏👏 What you think people please let me know if I can trust HP OMEN
The Omen 17 rtx 4080 240hz QHD is on eBay for $1579, however it comes with a i7-13700hx. Is this worth it ?
Hello my friend, do you think hp omen 4090? Or is it the asus rog strix 4090? Or are they the 4080 model ones? I would appreciate it if you could answer, have a nice day
Sorry I am confused "It looks like Throttle Stop and Intel extreme didn't let us make any changes but at least you can undervolt your main CPUs" How did you manage to undervolt if you can't use Throttle Stop or intel tuning app?
what kind of price tracking software you are useing?
I currently have a RTX 3070 Ti laptop but I want to upgrade. Would you recommend buying this laptop as of today and how long would you think it would last me?
I have RTX 3070ti version as well, I honestly don't think its time to upgrade just yet, we still have a few years of performance while being on top.
While benchmarking MS Flight Simulator, GPU capacity was utilized only in c.a.60%. Why?
The game is still CPU bound--so lower GPU utilization. But Frame Generation still gives us a tremendously better visual experience with a smoother experience overall.
@@GizmoSlipTech Sure, framerate is state-of-the-art, however, CPU is about 20%... So I believe it doesn't limit GPU here? I am wondering as maybe we are facing some other limitations in this laptop, which may impact an overall value in a long-term, while playng in more demanding games in the future.
It’s 2189$ on eBay I’m not sure wether to get it because it’s refurbished 4090 i7 13700HX 165hz
Seems at first glance like the chassis is unchanged from the 2022 model, although I've seen somewhere some very slight differences in dimensions and overall weight, so not sure. What about the QHD screen, any idea if it's the same screen as the '22?
İs it have gsync on 240hz QHD panel
It has G-Sync and Advanced Optimus. There is a 240 hz QHD panel, but the one I tested is the 165 hz QHD. the 240hz verison is $40 more.
That cooling system worries me. I live in a very hot country and will not always be in an air conditioned area. I think the gigabyte Aorus 17H has better cooling
hello i have the omen rtx4060 version i was on a budget what do you think of it
Hey i need an opinion, if i had to choose between a HP Omen 17, i7-13700HX, RTX 4090,16 gb ram and 512 ssd for 2450$ vs a Lenovo 16" Legion Pro 7i with RTX 4080 Graphics + 2560 x 1600, 240 Hz Display + Core i9 24-Core CPU for 2150$, wich one do you recomend for rendering apps such as blender?
Easily omen 17 if you’re aiming for a long run!
I wonder how much difference there is between QHD and QHD+. QHD+ only bumps the 1440p res to 1600 res. Would that really be such a big difference?
probably not to the visible eye... I think it's one of these things where "if you don't know, then you don't need to"
How loud is it ?
The track pad was so bad I had to return it
Man the newer ones are just ridiculously priced in some countries...guess imma get last gen 3080 ti
That's at your expense though.
i just bought this laptop. but my score is 14925. why? everything is up to date.
Can it do USB PD charging? If so, what's the limit - 100w?
Thank you very much or the review, I have found an excellent price for it (2500€) and I'm on the brink of buying it. I have one question I can't find an answer for : does it have a MUX switch? Thanks!
Advanced Optimus, which is even better
@@GizmoSlipTech So great you just made a sale HP should give you a cut! Thanks man!!
can you make a list of all laptop 3d mark time spy....
Already did!! Check my laptop list linked in description
my omen 17 is hitting 100c on the i7 processor with games before the fan ramps up to keep it under, i don’t notice a loss in performance is this normal?
When the fans ramp up does it drop the Temps at least?
can you fix the link where can i buy the laptop ? thank you
Hello, thanks for your amazing review.
I choose it over the 17‘ because in Germany it had the better screen (160 vs 240hz)
Paid ~1900€ for it with the HyperX cloud 2 core bundle :)
where ?
How is the 4K movies playback? Or high bitrate movies performance? Any stutters? Lags?
Considering the fact that my I7 8th gen laptop with a GTX 1060 seems to run them just fine, you should be good
Can i use liquid thermal paste on both gpu/cpu or jus regular paste?
Hi everyone, I been looking to buy a bigger gaming laptop to use as a portable desktop of sorts... after some research i am stuck between hp omen 17 rtx 4080 or asus rog strix g18 rtx 4080 as they are both in similar price ranges in my country with the asus being slightly more expensive ( Hp at 85000 Turkish Liras and Asus at 90000/ rougly 3000 USD.) I am looking for some advice on which one would be a better purchase at the similar prices in terms of build quality, gaming and work performance, cooling and etc.
How this one compares with a alienware m18?
Alien has more tdp on cpu but i see temperature 110 on pick and omen will be better because not have sence in alien big price and u just need to undervolt to omen tdp cpu to dont see over 100 c temperature.
Can't decide between this and the Alienware 18. Do you have a review of that ( m18 ) coming anytime soon?
Ordered one. Not sure when it will arrive. In a couple weeks?
Exciting
Is it a per key RGB keyboard
Hiya Gizmo any chance we can get a comparison between the AMD Ryzen™ 9 7945HX and the Intel I9?
Yes, in my livestream tomorrow
Can u please review Eluktronics MECH 17 GP2 rtx 4090 laptop....i want to buy best 4090 laptop so it will be great help for me !!
nice review! thanks! Is it possible to review also the asus rog strix scar 16?
This being shipped to me now
Is this laptop using liquid metal?
Can you undervolt? If can how much the limits?
From what I've seen others report it uses traditional paste.
Can this (the lid) be opened up 180 degrees?
Why?
Mine is Core i9 13900HX-RTX4090 - GPU score 14925, CPU score is 5692. whats wrong wit hm y HP omen 17?
this is my second return in a month, initially a powerful PC ok, but it heats up too much on the CPU and a refeed does not change anything, the second had the same problem in addition to a faulty motherboard, all those who have this model has overheating issues.
This laptop is not successful, it's a risk in terms of medium-term reliability, I'm returning mine on Monday and I'm buying an XMG, it's more expensive yes but we know why...
Cpu throttling when using occt and furmark? That is kind of to be expected and is not a normal use case.
I just got the Omen 17 ck2059nr and notice alot of stutter in games. The frames are there but just not as smooth as the games should play. I set the power to performance and watched many videos for the Nvidia control panel and nothing seems to get it right. Any suggestions?
Any changes?
@@walnut2608 I called HP and they ran some tests I sent videos and they said all looks good to them. They said even if I send it in the engineers would probably send it back. When clearly there is screen tearing. I even took it to bestbuy geek squad to get a second eye on it and the guy looked like he was getting annoyed because he couldn't fix it lol. I just returned it. Are all gaming laptops like that? With a stutter?
- The Cpu and Ram specs are i9-13900hx - 32gb ddr5
where you find these?
anyone got that 17 inch omen ? I wanna get it as my 2019 legion y540 replacement. Would get rog strix g17 but the coil whine issues make me
Disappointed.
Just pre ordered the OMEN 17 Intel i9 13900HX RTX 4090 laptop from HP UK for £2199.
Can't wait to try it out!

@@michaozga7825 It's on pre order at the moment, should receive it this week 15th of feb 2024
Have they fixed the screen wobble?
I show the wobble. I think it's one of the biggest drawbacks to the device. Shown at 26:50
He covers this in Touchpad Impressions chapter @26:48
@@GizmoSlipTech I've seen it and I think it has improved a little bit. It used to wobble very much on the 2080 and 3080 versions even when you type on it.
@GizmoSlipTech I am stuck in a dilemma. I am a junior game developer(work with UE4/5). And as you know this is gpu demanding sphere. Currently i have several options, this Hp omen 17(4090) being one of them, and asus rog strix g18 (4080 one) and couple more(alienware m18, maybe from lenova too) . Basically the budget is 2500$ but I might go up to 2700 if there is very good deal. What laptop would you recommend 🤔? Thank you beforehand
@Jtwizzle damn it, I would have gone for PC 🖥 but I need mobility since I am student and I live in a dormitory
@@JohnWilliams-hq5yp I just got a alert about the G18 at bestbuy for $2100 if you are in the US. Also $2500 for an hp omen with 4090.
i got it with 240hz screen, i wait now :)
When will u review acer Helios predator 16?
Compare hp omen to Alienware m16 at native gaming benchmark
I thought Jarrod was a good reviewer until I saw this channel :D
Jarrod is a good reviewer! He just does his testing off screen. I show everything, which makes my videos longer, which some people love and hate
Undervolting helps, but is not required. 4090 is the full 175W, yes.
@@GizmoSlipTech thank you so much for answering
Can anyone comment on the suitability of the display for photoshop use please?
its on sale for 1900$ with coupons wtf
Fr. Something’s not right
Can this be undervolted? Okay I saw the rest of the video it can actually be under volted nice, partial under volt*
LOL in Germany the Omen with 4060 is already about 2300$ 😂
i paid it (i7 3700h and 4090 240 hz screen 1440p) in France during french days 2460€ instead of 3700, -35%, it's a good price i think.
>< . Gonna be a long four days lol
Also great content to creators of this vid, but there was one spot ive noticed so far where yalls volume jumps up real fast.
does anyone know if this has termal pads or paste? thanks!
