My issue with Wendigoon, is he is so biased toward conspiracy theories and/or supernatural explanations, that he does little to no research into anything that doesn't support those explanations... The dude's lack of knowledge on the JFK case, was really eye-opening. He was bringing up "evidence" that has been debunked for well over a decade now :/
U do realize that most plants contain dmt there are so many living things like mushrooms , roots, and other plants that’ll make you trip or have delirium which is tripping but actually much worse as it can kill you and technically it means you’ve been poisoned
@@gamershadow8Josh is great but only occasionally, I feel like jail made him a little squirrelly to talk to and it shows in his podcasts. He's always trying to talk at all costs like Woody. I personally don't mind but Wendigoon talks way nicer for my ears
My immediate guess was right when they asked what each others theories were. Close to Soviet Russia in that time period? Chemical or Radiation weapons testing 100% that was leftover.
Not mentioning the weapons testing in the area at all does affect the theory crafting. If you would have mentioned it at the beginning before telling the story of the hike, it would have been the first assumption made. I do agree that the idea of it just sitting in the air for over a year before dispersing enough causing the wet air to move it a bit far fetched. Kyle mentioning a shell being found is much more likely. Even if the group didn't actually "find" an unexploded shell, they are climbing in a region where rockfalls are common. It rained the day before, the ground is still drying out and settling. It is equally as likely that they accidentally caused something to hit a piece unexploded ordnance and it was effectively an unintended landmine. I doubt the survivor just happened to blame the deaths on the exact symptoms of a nerve gas poisoning.
Some nerve agents can remain active for scary long amounts of time. Sarin breaks down in minutes, but VX (the stuff Saddam used on the Kurds) which functionally kills the same way, can remain lethal on surfaces years later. A lethal dose being smaller than the eye can see.
I can't believe he actually thought a bunch of adventure hikers in Kazakhstan would just fall victim to something basic. The story even starts by Wendigoon pointing out that the group was actually considered overqualified for the comparatively easy hike they were taking.
It's probably not exactly right, but when I heard the coughing blood and bleeding from eyes, my brain immediately said sarin gas. Gas, gas, gas. Used to be the quickest way to make a soldier stop on the spot and change what he's doing. It goes fast.
Wouldn't be Sarin because it breaks down in minutes/hours, but if they were messing around with VX gas (which does the same thing/has the same symptoms) that stuff can linger for months/years on surfaces in a lethal capacity and isn't diluted by water.
@@oceanwavesandcocaine1129 not that I've seen, the running theory with the most evadince behind is that a rare kind of avalcnch happened because of how they carved the snow no set up base
@@austin3853 nope, no evidence of an avalanch, more likely it was a Katabatic Wind, which i probably misspelled. It's when winds from the top of a mountain go down the slope and hit a lower region with harsh fast cold wind. Bedtime Stories has a great three part series on it. Avalanch doesn't fit.
It's kinda wild hearing this, because Wendigoon mentioned the survivor had to return to the bodies to get food to return home. One of the people to get infected must have run far enough to be away from the gas, but still. She came within probably inches of instant death twice. That's crazy.
I am actually thinking about perhaps Radiation? There were stories of lost radiation sources and generators in the woods perhaps they walked over something?
Im late here but I have an answer: The chemical weapons theory is sound, but the breeze randomly bringing it in like that without other adverse environmental affects or more consistent problems in the area is kinda unlikely. Tbh what may be more likely (especially if it was on a mountain by volcanic activity), is that there was some kind if sulfuric gas that got released from the earth, and since it is so heavy it would be easily carried downwind. It is incredibly toxic, can kill in minutes, and all the symptoms line up. Also explains why the people who sat down got hit first because it is so heavy it hovers around the ground and by the time you start feeling the symptoms its too late. It makes a little more sense than some lingering chemical experiments Imo (as long as there is documented volcanic or potentially even siesmic activity in the area that could have released the gas). Even though the sulfuric gas itself isn't visible, if it was released by seismic or volcanic activity, other kinds of gasses that get released in those events could carry dirt and dust into the air making it have that cloudy look. Imo it's more logical than an unknown random chemical experiments leftovers
Novichok gases, can turn to liquid and last for 90+ days, and even have an artic cold version. The rain condensed the gas into the lower part of the valley, sun starts to evaporate it into a pocket, anyone close is done for. In the full story, the others ATTEMPT to get close to the original dude except the survivor, and one other who died, the other who died however knelt behind a rock low to ground, and hence got more of the deadly gas, the lone survivor was struck with fear, and then ran away. Hence her survival.
