THANK YOU! I love this ~ because now I know I was trying too hard to do what I cannot yet. Geeze. It's like I skipped a step (or two) in my learning. I really like how you break it down and explain every single teeny tiny step. I CAN do this.
Thank you Landon for this very vital demonstration. I do all of my yoga class from UA-cam and I learned from you that I was placing my hands too far away during Chaturanga poses. These demonstrations are important for people like me who are not working with a teacher and do not get corrections. 👍🏾
Real talk: Your voice is so wonderfully unreal...soothing...it fascinates & lulls me into following your every instruction and move. I know you're not a bot...fantastic teaching! Thank you.
Just found you recently and this is my new favourite channel. You explain things better than any other instructor I've found, online or irl. Thanks for being so helpful and so genuine! You rule.
Thank you so much for discussion and the demystification. So true about the ego game that we might subconsciously enter. Although some online yoga instructors encourage beginners to do the modified version of Chaturanga, they often show only the full version instead. For me, it is really attempting to imitate them improperly to "keep up". It is so great that you actually always show the modified version in these series; really helpes me to build strength properly and stay out the ego game.
I really liked the block demo of the arm position as lowering. Thank you for this video. I appreciate the honesty in this video. I rarely see anyone do this asana correctly. I'm glad to see a way to practice a modified version and gain strength.
Thank you so much for your video! I can listen to you all day! Thank you for sharing this pose modification. I just started and I am struggling with this pose. I’ll try this for sure 🤍
Hehe you're so funny!!😀 I wish I found your video first before I wrongly and forcefully practice Chaturanga😂 Thank God shoulders are not shifted but they hurt for few days ! Thank you so much for a very clear and funny explanation😊🙏
Tore the rotator cuff in both shoulders doing this pose. 11 months later, after PT, cortisone shot, and acupuncture, still not healed. Can't even do downward dog w/out pain. Even once they do heal, I will never do this pose again. Not worth it!
Thank you so much Landon for such a beautiful presentation of Chaturanga! It would be wonderful if you could explain about "breathing" when doing "Chaturanga"!
Also watch "Pivet MadKilla - Killer of Gravity". Pay attention to where his elbows are in relation to his torso. Then watch Landon Slaughter and have some laughter.
I was wondering about my shoulder pain for months... then I realized that I did Chaturanka wrong the whole time ... And no one correct me in the studio
Great video! I've been doing the modified version por almost 6 months (but with my feet on the mat) and as I did it better with the pass of time, my teacher thought I could do the regular version but I ended up contracted! :( Guess I stil don't have the necessary strenght in my arms to do it and now I'm doing the modified version again... just have to be patient and constant.
....the shoulder injury comes from the 90 degree angle. Take a moment and really consider the bench press. The bar comes at the sternum, as you said, but not as you demonstrated. In a long term(day after day) chaturanga, the elbows do indeed fall behind the wrists, leading you to your strongest position, just as a bench press. To attempt 90 degree chaturangas day after day, or bench press for that matter(ouch) even if modified, is the source of injury. Not ego. Although, ego contirbutes greatly to not being open to other degrees of strength. Namaste friend.
@@yogawithlandon rather than take it out, think about the strength position. If you line your shoulders up with finger tips, this is strength position, similar to the bench press you mentioned. There is absolutly nothing wrong with letting the elbows go behind the wrists and actually everything right about this position in chaturanga, to help protect from shoulder injury.

yay! happy you enjoyed it! yea, its a bit of a pain of yoga pose lol, but a good strength and endurance builder at the same time :)

Thank you love! Ask me any questions you have! Happy to help
Oh wow your voice so pleasant. You should totally read audio books if you ever get tired of teaching yoga 😀
I like you being honest about the need to build arm strength for this pose.
its true... perfect alignment doesn't mean much if you just dont have the strength to support the posture :) hope you're well! have a good friday!

Best tutorial ever seen!
Thanks Anna! much love!
Actually, he's giving bad advice, watch Ballenger's "do not hug your elbows" video.
Or just look at his shoulder collapsing forward...
Also watch "Pivet MadKilla - Killer of Gravity". Pay attention to where his elbows are in relation to his torso. Then watch Landon Slaughter and have some laughter.
Very well explained! Thank you so much.
Great expanation thanks!!
Thank you so much
Thank you. Every time I watch this video I learn something new..
BTW, my shoulder..... killing me
Thank you :) if your shoulder is hurting then I'd just leave out chatruangs for a month... I feel there not actually that important lol 😁
I love the roll the intro screen and your voice!
Awe! Thank you! :)
Amazing channel ❤🕉
I would absolutely face plant if I tried this!

I was wondering about my shoulder pain for months... then I realized that I did Chaturanka wrong the whole time ...
And no one correct me in the studio

Is this all triceps muscle?
Great video! You're welcome:)
Tu me plais HAHAHA you make me laugh. Peu importe tu es bien le yoga
Thank you Karla! :)
Landon Slaughter de rien
You're part of the 90%, rather 95%. Tell me again how the bench press is done at a 90 degree angle...

@@michellehackett3848 thanks for your input. Yea the more i research this pose the more I think it should just be taken out of yoga flows completely.
