Yep, that was their destiny upon birth, Noctis however does not find out about it before later, but Luna and Regis knew from the start, I wish they kept the 2 min cinematic of Regis just holding his son in the game, it makes the ending even sadder, especially since Regis has to strike the final blow in order for them to create the Knights of the round to finally end Ardyn. Luna as the oracle knew that the person she loved was destined to die, and she knew from the start that she would slowly but surely die in a far more painful manner, I believe they originally wanted to have Luna's body fall apart in front of the player, but her death scene is still wonderful from a art perspective but we lose out on all the suffering and pain she took upon herself. Because of that a lot of people think that Luna is not a strong character, when in reality she is the person in the game who suffers the most and still moves forward.
So, he loses his mother, he loses his dad, he loses his own home, and he loses the love of his life before he goes to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Give the fucking guy a break.
That's when you know what pain really is about that you have the right to say _« Shall you rest in peace »_ and that's when you have the right to say it that you know what life really is about. Noctis said a word to Ardyn that required the same power than for raising a moutain to be said: _« Now you can rest in peace »_
The symbolism in it is just gorgeous. It made me realize how little of indirect storytelling we get in gaming. Luna never outright says that she is dead - you do not see her bleed to death or anything like that. Yet, it is insanely heartbreaking, and impossible not to understand.
Fable I know this is late in coming (4 months late), but it's actually more subtle storytelling than that even. If you pay attention, she's bleeding out black blood, which means that she was stabbed in the liver, and died very quickly of her liver poisoning the rest of her body. It would have killed her long before she ever would have bled out, which explains why the guys were never able to save her in time, honestly making the whole thing even more heartbreaking.
This game is Hamlet/Lion King in a nutshell, then again Leviathan was a testament to the damn bible. Betrothed childhood friends, high monarchies, royal bloodlines, tragic father death, convicted exile, British-accented villains etc.. Then again, Scar didn't gut Nala in the stomach during his rule and the harem of lionesses obeyed his every command.
it really crushed my heart how noctis told her, that he just wanted to save her.. he didnt care about being the hero, he didnt want to be a savior of the world, just to save her... he is forced to be a hero, she is forced to sacrifice herself for him... but in the end, he just wanted to be with her.
Jameelah Panunpang i started to get upset when she was lying on the ground it felt like she was gonna die then noctis wakes up and i thought it was a dream the ignis tells him she's passed and i burst out in tears 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i crying wright now why candt square cinx not be nice
Can we talk about how incredibly beautiful the whole symbolism of the scene is? How beautiful it is that Luna turns into an adult right after saying that no, she will not be waiting for Noctis - shattering the innocence? How sad it is that Noctis remains a child pleading for Luna not to leave - which is made even sadder by the fact that he already lost his father? This whole scene was heartbreaking because it told things indirectly, but in a way that was impossible not to understand. No matter how you found the rest of the game, this scene alone is art. It is a method of storytelling that is still unexplored in gaming. Final Fantasy is NOT dead. So long as it keeps introducing new ideas, new concepts, so long as it remains avant-garde like this, it will not die. EDIT: I also want to add that the scene itself is good. But I very much agree that the treatment of Luna is problematic at best 😂 The situation is the same as many movies: a director or a team probably had the idea of a very powerful scene, which they executed very well, but failed to create a build up that actually supports and justifies it. Which is really sad, but I've found that it tends to be a problem that's present in quite a few FF.
The scene was indeed ART.......But it needed bedding Luna was somewhat slaughtered as a character.... I wanted to like her..... but no screen time and no interactions... made it difficult (Stella boy here)... but the scene was heartbreaking alright
Anyone else notice how perfectly the music synchronizes with her tone of voice when she says "I watch over you always"? It's enough to make me shiver. That's how good it is.
MsClumsyAssassin I think the real ending is better, than the usual "evil gets killed and everybody is happy"-ending. Ok, it's something familiar, but not so usual, like it is everywhere seeable.
"Whenever the world fall around you, and hope is lost. When you find yourself alone amid a lightless place... look to the distance... know that I am there... and that I watch over you always" RIGHT IN THE GODDAMNED FEELS!
I am sorry but I will always watch over you is such a cheap let down......it's cliched and weak and keeps no one satisfied......I rather be told "I will see you in hell" ... At least that means something
Hence there names Lunafreya and Noctis. It’s a beautiful turn of events. Seriously. Luna’s death scene was beautifully created. I want more stuff that is heart-wrenching but gorgeous just like this.
Ardyn is the darkness of the night, the one thing standing between them but also the thing that connects them. A necessary evil. Fated to be that person forever.
I waited years and years and years to see luna and talk to luna and see luna in my party and to see her and noctis be together and i avoided every single spoiler to get to this part and cry like a little fucking bitch when noctis says "all i wanted to is to save you" and that heart touching and heart crushing scene fucking killed me ;-;
It's so unfair. It was made worse for me because some a-hole on youtube spoiled it for me just a few days after I started playing the game by typing "Luna dies" in reply to one of the comments I had posted on a trailer video. That broke my heart even more than her actual death and yet I still wept at this scene.
This is an incredible scene but the writers didn't allow enough time to get to know Luna to make it as powerful as it could be. Square's writers in general did a bad job of setting up twists/climaxes. It's too easy to just not care (except for some scenes in the ending).
Jeremy Ang no its not that the writing was bad for the game but its thr fact that a lot of content was cut for the game and as a result we got a really condensed version of the story
Andreas Michael Design nah not really im saying they did set up everything correctly they just didnt put it in the game. He is saying they didnt do it at all.
I see what you mean, but at the end of the day, you don't just remove a chapter from a book and say "the writing is good! but we cut out some of it". Maybe a better way to put it is... the script is bad because a lot of stuff was cut, and they didn't write/re-write the remaining material to attempt to cover the lost ground in any way.
For all the People saying Luna didn't look sad or the English dub sucked for the emotion in this scene Luna does not fear death. She said it at least twice in kingsglaive and her actions in that movie and in this scene and smacking a soldiers gun away from her face shows it. The only thing she feared was not doing her duty to help Noctus and wanting to see him one last time.
"All I...all i wanted... was to save you" Young Noctis killed me, and remembering of me in a battle of the past i could not win cause the lack of my experience and years (think people can relate of which battles you fought and are fighting for) . Hope everyone was enchanted with this great game and at the ending, showing a powerful message not only of sacrifice but honor and commitment.
That line came completely out of left field for me. Made me think the protagonist himself had even less character development than Luna, who was overshadowed by an INJURY and a CAR.
ever since i was 15, those kinds of scenes about loss really hit me hard in games. i was living with my grandma, and she died on christmas, in a hospital. i was with her the whole three days, nearly without sleep, and i was very certain that she would just come back and we'll go home like nothing ever happened. the hard truth hit me when i realized that she died on december 26th. i struggle with this loss to this day, and i'm 28 years old now. so yeah, when noctis told her, that all he really wanted was to save her, that really hit me hard.
Despite Luna barely having screen time, this scene was still emotional and heartbreaking. Even after seeing and hearing spoilers regarding her death, I was surprised to find myself tearful at this scene. We spend the entire game playing as Noctis. We relate to him. We understand him. And he loves Luna clearly, so when he says all he wanted to do was save her and he reaches out for her, I really felt my heart break. Because even though Luna had very little appearances, we still knew about her and who she was and how much she meant to Noctis. I think that’s all we needed for this scene to be emotional. To look through Noctis’ perspective. When his world was falling apart and he faced heavy burdens, Luna was still alive and waiting for him. She’s always treated him with kindness and consideration. And all he wanted was to see her and to save her. For her to die, all for him, was heartbreaking. This scene was done excellently. And even how he goes about handling his sorrows and tragedies is almost perfectly done for me. People say this is the worst FF. But I don’t think people are giving it enough credit for what it is, it’s differences, and how well done it was. I’m not saying it’s perfect. A lot more could have been done. But with little time Square Enix had to produce this, I’m finding this to be a very satisfying product. I’m glad they didn’t scrap it. Sure I would like to see their original concept for FF XIII Versus, but this game is brilliant on its own considering the circumstances surrounding it. I’m happy with their work. I don’t see it as rushed, weak, incomplete, or any of that. Because this is through the perspective of a prince who loses everything, yet he pushes through. I’m happy to own this game. Happy to have spent many hours on it, getting to explore the world and get to know the characters-even minor ones.
The Rue Morgue By little time I mean that they had about a year to finish a game from scratch. If I remember correctly, the concept was scrapped and the person in charge of the development was replaced. Yes, the game took 10 years to come out, but given the circumstances, they only had a year to finish the actual product from new.
Starlight tears: I do agree. The wait was long and the game definitely could have been delivered as a whole and not fragmented, but ....its unique. I do like it. Its not the worse FF. In fact I hate ff13, and they had time to plan that game plus a part 2 and 3.
Seriously though. I watched this death scene before I even played the game or knew the characters, and I sobbed, simply because of the agonizing emotion. The longing woven in when Noctis just... couldn't get to her? It was phenomenally well done.
Every new final fantasy goes through a time period in which it's the most hated... When 8 came out it was trash and is now considered one of the best love stories of all time. 10 had the same complaints as 13 when it first came out and is now heralded as the best final fantasy ever. Lesson? Who cares what the masses say they are usually full of nostalgia and too far up their own critical asses to know anything and just enjoy the game for what it gives you. This was a work of art. Like the games before.
I dont hate final fantasy 15 but the relation beetween luna and noctis was trash I literally cared more about ignis's eyes then about luna's life Literally no conversation beetween luna and noctis while both alive in the game, not to talk about the fact that the last before the game was 12 years ago I literally care more about ravus than about luna
Maybe Luna wasn't a such a meaningful character for us.. But damn was she meaningful to Noctis.. I guess thats what made me cry like a little baby.. especially when he said as baby Noct "all I wanted was to save you"... They nailed it. So beautiful but so so breathtakingly sad either.. poor Noct.
He is controlled by the darkness the moment he slaps her. Besides, I always wondered if he hadn't let it happen on purpose. The end is revealing. Thanks to this, the darkness was blocked and Noctis was able to defeat them.
This scene caught me so off guard. I literally cried while playing the game. The symbolism and the dialogue were perfect. Watching them together as children with their innocence intact then becoming adults facing reality. Every time Noctis spoke it broke my heart especially when he asked her "Will you be there?" in Tenebrae. There was no gentle way of Luna telling him she's dead. So heartbreaking to watch her die so young. I'm not sure which comment it was but someone said it's like she was born and raised to die. For Noctis to try to reach for her because he didn't want to lose someone else he loved tore me up... And possibly my favorite quote from the game: "When the world falls down around you and hope is lost. When you find yourself alone and in a lightless place. Look to the distance know that I am there. And that I watch over you always..." This scene is the perfect sad scene... however *SPOILER ALERT* I know I'm not the only one pissed off that Noctis went through all that crap and died. I was pissed at the end of the game. Like they didn't show any remorse for this guy whatsoever! He loses his home, his father, his kingdom, his fiancé, then goes in a coma for 10 years just to wake up to sacrifice himself to bring the light back. I'm not saying it had to be the cheesy happy ending but the ending wasn't good enough for me. The LEAST Square could've done was let the man live! It was the most depressing happy ending! Like he reunites with Luna but they're both fucking dead! I officially have a love/hate relationship with this game. I'm going to play side quests now.
You literally put what I feel about this scene into words. and for that I MUST TELL YOU what was originally said in the Japanese script because they changed SOOOO MUCH. ---- This is the JAPANESE translation -- Luna: oh you're here Noctis'sama! Noctis: "you too?" Luna: I never thought I'd see you one more time! Noctis: Why is that? Luna: Because I finished the mission of the gods. Noctis : even when you're finished, you can still be with me right?" Luna: All the gods have acknowledged your power, the ring is going to be back in your hands. Luna walks away Luna: When you go back to your friends to visit Tenebrae, there will be alot of flowers awaiting you! Noctis: what about you? Luna changes older Luna: For you to come to see me is enough. (For her to be happy in hidden words as my mom explains) Noctis: But why...? Even if I died, all I wanted was to save you." Luna: If you're feeling lonely, remember me. From now on, I'll be a little faraway but I will always protect you. " gives the flower "Goodbye, Noctis"
Also understand the basis of this game was 13 versus which was heavily inspired by Hamlet hence why everyone dies lol in the original script, Gladio, Prompto, Cor were definitely supposed to die.
Lmao ^ Could also be the blood from having taken a fork to your eyes over having forced them to watching this horrible shtty game for hours on end. Who the fuck is luna anyway his pre ordered wife nomone gives a shit about. Im glad she died get her sappy ass out of the story. Also remove ardyn cor, regismand ignus and prompto from it an w might have us a decent game.
'When the prophecy is fulfilled, all in thrall to darkness shall know peace' so basically, she's telling Ardyn that he'll have a chance at peace. Which he does: his soul is cleansed at the end of the game. Luna's so nice.
Ooh and when Ardyn says 'how sweet.. but please, Lady Lunafreya, you first' it basically means that Luna's saying: for Ardyn to achieve peace, Ardyn has to die.
Dilana Karatas personally, I believe that at the end of the game Ardyn's soul was separated from the darkness that corrupted it in the first place, and he was allowed to ascend. But that's just my take on the ending, which was deliberately left ambiguous.
Actually, he's as much a spoiled child as Noct is. He thought if he did all this stuff for the kingdom he deserved a reward. He's basically throwing a tantrum against people who weren't even born during the denial of his birthright. I get why he's upset, and I feel for him but he is NOT a victim. He just plays the card as an excuse for vengeance.
ardyn isn't a brat, dude literally slurped demons for lunch breakfast and dinner and 5 gods could do nothing to remove it from him so they were like yeah fuck it fuck you buddy your brother with the antlers coming out of his cheek armor is going to be king cya kid, id want to destroy entire kingdoms too lol that's basically jesus doing everything that he did and god not coming to get him bruh
This was the most beautiful and emotional death scene that I've ever seen. The music, the animation, the voice acting and emotions of the character were absolutely amazing. The beauty of this scene alone is enough for me to shed a tear. There's just one thing that bothers me about it - the fact that I don't care about Luna all that much. I think that Square Enix really messed up here. If they gave Luna more screen time and gave us a chance to get to know her better, then I'm 99,999999% sure that her death would be the most heartbreaking scene in the history of Final Fantasy and would be one of the most famous deaths in video games in general.
The part that killed was when he finally got with her and now death spoken to soon to take her away from him again but this to the grave. Jesus noctis has lost so much.
Noctis : Lost his father, mother and his fiancee. Sacrifies himself at the end of the game Prompto : A lonely boy during his childhood, was originally a Niflheim born Ignis : He gone blind? That is worse than anything I can expect. Gladio : Did not have anything, but he and his father does a lot for Noctis and his family Easily they are the best characters of Final Fantasy man.
AdamRonaldo1903 they're pretty good but I won't say they're all the best just noctis and ignis mainly. We could say the same about other characters in the series if you played more than 15.
That actually caught me by surprise, generally atlus games have the best voice acting, but SE truly outdid themselves with FF15 and the focus on characters. This scene in particular is so much stronger with the english cast.
Andre00x after watching this scene in Japanese and english , I do wonder if the subtitles are DubTitles. I say that because when I heard some of the sentences ,they didn't seem to match, the subtitles. I don't know Japanese but I do memorize certain sentences and what they mean..
thersnoobzerlawl I liked this one more than 7 it became my fav final fantasy of them all XD VI,VIII and X were my fav but XV it's just amazing I hope they keep this battle system for future FF , mmmm maybe in FF 7 remake they might use it
Cloud Leonhart yeah i did too, but sad to say the game was to short, they spent almost 15 years working on this game, only for me to finish the game in under 20 hours, great story, great graphics, to short
Dang, :( I wish i could have felt something for these characters.. They didn't have enough screen time for me to really get emotionally attached to them :(
xMattais you're not supposed to really be "attached" to Luna. You're just supposed to understand noctis's and Luna's relationship and to know that noctis traveled all of this way just for Luna and to what end? To see his beloved die in front of him. The only hope he had left. It's just supposed to be a story of tragedy. Which it is. That being said I feel like Luna could have been fleshed out a little more, regardless it's still great imo.
Griffin Patrick SO you must like it when a character has no screen time. "We weren't supposed to feel attached to her". That's bad storytelling sir. Don't justify it
Kaizen カイゼン if you read what I said later on I agreed she should've had more screen time but regardless it's fine. Sure she should've had more screen time but it's not that big of an issue, this scene and noctis reaction to her death are amazingly well done and make you feel for him. You're supposed to feel for him, not for her.
Sidequests? more like fetchquests...that was pretty much 50 hrs of my gameplay.. .and I'm not sure why I did them....The side quests added absolutely nothing to the world of Eos, and were pretty boring to be honest...collecting dog tags..finding frogs...and the poorly done hunting system where you could only do one hunt at a time... I know there were a few character interaction sidequests, like taking photos with Prompto, and it was great at first...but eventually it got really repetitive..and also, when driving, they would repeat the same dialogs over and over again to eachother XD anyways, sorry to go on...but I swear..this game only had about 10 hrs of main story.. and that's pretty sad for a final fantasy title :(
Luna's death was not that sad to be honest, luna was a super rushed character with no build up, the plot was all around her and noctis yet we know so little of her. Hell i know more of prompto then her, it has less impact then yuna crying at the end of ffx im sorry
Felt nothing in this scene. I saw Luna only 3 times in cutscenes and that is not enough time for me to be emotionally invested. Ignis's case was sad as I already spent 30+ hours hanging out with him
Armorwing01 I always make a breather between story missions, do couple of side quests and then continue on. What's left from them I do after the main story, if there is an option of course. Yeah, excited to see on what they expand later on.
THIS WAS JUST MOTHERFUCKING BEAUTIFUL. PERHAPS ONE OF THE MOST TRAGIC YET BEAUTIFUL DEATH ON ANY VIDEO GAME I HAVE SEEN/ PLAYED OH HELL YEAH TO THEM SON OF BITCHES AT SQUARE ENIX... Y'ALL DESERVE A STONE COLD BEER
Roxas fading away telling Sora his time was in Kingdom Hearts is pretty tragic too but this plus the ending wedding is a storm of melancholic bitter sweetness :/
You guys are such fake fans lmao, they tried using phoenix down on dead people in ff before, it only works if a person is still alive, just heavily wounded. It does not bring back the dead
fuck if only the whole game was as good as this section. i feel like they really dropped the ball by not having enough cg cutscenes and story momentum. the first half feels like a totally different game from the second half. The opening dissappointed me too. It should've had the city invasion/escape shit shown in the original trailers. Would've made a great opening like FFX. But i'll take what I can get. This cutscene especially gave me some kingdom hearts vibes
So.... Did anyone elses Prompto take a pic of Noct on Levi? That bitch could've saved her during the time it took him to take the pic. He knew what she looked like. Obviously she was done with her role in the summon since that was it when Noct came in. So no excuse, especially since he's already in the middle of the battlezone.
What the developers should've done was to include flashback scenes that were playable. Like child Noctis and Luna being able to explore and had tiny adventures on their own. Like there would be a flashback for each Chapter and we get to explore with Luna until the final flashback where they get separated. This will build up Luna and help us grow some connection or even attachment to her as a character. Which would make this scene more heartbreaking and impactful.
"Extremely emotional scene?" Yeah, it's sad but Luna was in the game for like ten minutes so it didn't really matter. I felt more bad about Noctis and Ignis.
It took me a whole while to realize that Luna's farewell scene was CGI and the rest is the game's engine. That's how the game graphics impressed me back in 2016. They still look beautiful though.
ryutheslayer123 Lmao me too! I was mad as fuck. Like why is this a scene? Lunar is the worst. Well ff15 is the worst boring game with zero emotional parts. this is me the whole game -_- 80 bucks waisted
No its called being over 14 years old. This game was made for children in how basic it is. In how easy it is. An in how the story was written. As a stand alone game 15 is utter garbage. 13 was better. A. Thiren was brutally annoying. But it had solid play and didnt interupt the game. Also the game was linewr a fuck. 15 is equally linear. Because there is nothing to explore no weapons worth getting they are all tied to story, or endgame. The turtle only takes 35 min first kill. An endgame dungeons is just. Staircase in different locations. Also the dumb ass car track you cant land the airsnip without dying. This game is horrible bro. Dont even get me started on the brutally ruthlessly bland no info story. Luna dies an no on gave a fuck. Ingus blinded wih no explanation or even sign of care from noct. Prompto is a fiend a its all just bullsnit half assed storytelling. When the story is the staple of ff. It goes story, gameplay, then graphics. I feel you just enjoy them shiny hairddoos. An pretty scenery. The gameplay and story are basic for 9 year olds. As a stand alone game ffxv is garbage.
nobody survives even one bit He sacrificed himself an no one cared. If the entire game is stale, boring and lame you think on final scene fixes that? He sacrificed himself. Like every other ff character does. An him being such a shitty character when it happens no one cared. Even in the game. HE IS ROYALTY. But all of eos is like fuck this dude go get me some beans chump. Lol You are clearly a younger noob an this is your first jrpg. Rookie
I think my mind broke a whole different reason from yours. See, my mind broke because of the visuals. And when I came to, I thought, wait what, she can't die just like that
0:46 Amazing, that was directly at Somnus. And at 1:03 he's quickly re-contemplating what he just did. That's why he slowly let's his hand down. He's thinking about Aera. Then he immediately remembers Somnus and it all comes back to him.
Ardyn killed luna because she was the one person that knew everything about ardyn and all the suffering hes gone through because as oracle shiva told her everything about the past especifically ardyns past and like the gods she didnt do shit about it left him to rot so in ardyns mind she was no better than his brother and all the gods and i dont blame him also he wanted noctics to feel what it was like to lose his fiance and lose everything he wanted noctics to feel the same pain he felt when his great grandfather somnus killed his fiance aera so cant say i blame ardyn for not ending her hell i would of been surprised if he didn't
I know a lot of people think Luna is a cardboard character. I thought that to, but I feel like watching this scene adds so much depth to her She's immensely strong. But not in the way we'd expect and I think people overlook that. Yes she's seen as only kind and that's it. But goddamn look at all she's had to do at her age.
If this didn't fuck you up there's only a few possibilities. A. You didn't watch Kingsglaive first and have no preface. Really shoulda done that, dude. B. You just didn't pay attention at all. C. You're lying to seem cool in the UA-cam comment section and actually bawled like a baby. D. You're not human. If you weren't moved by Luna's death itself, what's even more heart shattering is what it does to the guys. It literally turns them on each other. Ignis cant even look at Noct when he tells him Luna is dead and he's BLIND. Then Noctis gets depressed as fuck and Gladio gets angry at him cause he's shirking his duty and thinking only of himself and his own personal circumstances and they get into a real bitter feud that seemed pretty realistic to me. This was easily the most impactful moment in the game and if you weren't moved by any of it, you likely aren't paying attention.
I love Luna's character design after seeing her in the trailers that's why I was interested in her before the game was released. It was just sad that I felt nothing the first time I saw this scene, and all of us know that it was because she had little screen time for us to be connected with her to feel something when she died. I agree with others here that Ignis' blindness was more sadder than her death. I only felt sad now that I kept rewatching this scene after knowing the game's entire story.
Watching Luna tearfully go and Noctis drown was surprisingly heart wrenching. Even tho I never got to know Luna enough explore the entire world together, the time they shared together as friends was still touching. They had all lost so much. Ignis never got his eyesight back, yet he was till right there by Noctis' side.
FFXV is a sad story, no pun intended. I played through almost all of them and it was the one I felt the most disconnected towards. Yet, I keep stumbling back into the game's lore and realize that the story and the surrounding universe and characters are actually amazingly well-written and super-expansive. I really wish the game focussed more on the amazing writing rather than the open world with all its entertaining minigames. Looking back, it kind of feels as if the "game itself" didn't do the world it was embedded into justice.
This scene is sad but the last campfire scene is even sadder. Just some friends taking a moment to say goodbye for the last time.... OH WHO'S CUTTING ONIONS IN HERE!
I didn't understand what's going with this scene but the soundtrack and how Luna speaks is holding my breath, making me sad and confused atst. When I saw Ignis was blind, that, was the huge shocker and made me felt sorry in my playthrough
ONAMI Show I hate when people do this. Windows version has just came out and many haven’t played it. Some even excuse it for being an old game, which is also quite silly :/. It’s a critical story plot point. ...And I don’t even like this game too much. Oh well.
Despite Luna not having as much screen time as I'd hoped, this scene is so powerful, emotional and really hit me hard and it still does. It has me in awe. I remember staying up late playing FFXV once it'd released and I got to this scene around 3am, my face was wet from crying, pretty much my whole face. This scene really stuck with me and has to this day, it really breaks my heart. What's even worse is that we learn Iggy is blinded straight after, so when I was already sobbing uncontrollably, it made me break down and I couldn't even sleep after that. I just looked up how other people felt after these events and cried even more. 😥😅
Aerith death in FF7 is much sadder than Luna death... its because we all know about Aerith story (Crisis Core even make her story more impacts), and she was our comrade all along, it is far difficult to accept her death
That one look from Ardyn almost told his entire story right there. He was tempted to take Luna's healing right then and there, but his anger at the Gods prevented him from doing so.
well this video just popped out from my reccomended, i dont know the story behind this, but this scene makes me very sad, just imagining the people that actually play the games have to see this story
This whole story was depressing, it seems like Noctis and Luna were just born and raised to die
Sounds like anyone.
Basically, Ardyn gives Noctis a reason to join her in afterlife.
Because of that a lot of people think that Luna is not a strong character, when in reality she is the person in the game who suffers the most and still moves forward.
stickginge it was sad but awesome I love the game and still playing it over 100 hours XD
stickginge born to die, that is the curse of life.
So, he loses his mother, he loses his dad, he loses his own home, and he loses the love of his life before he goes to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Give the fucking guy a break.
endertwelve Right?! At least a sequel!
He got that break in death
That's when you know what pain really is about that you have the right to say _« Shall you rest in peace »_ and that's when you have the right to say it that you know what life really is about. Noctis said a word to Ardyn that required the same power than for raising a moutain to be said: _« Now you can rest in peace »_
And died a virgin, add that to the list.
OMFG IKR I KEEP SAYING That FFS Pick on Gladilous or something.
Can we just take a moment to realize that the title got changed
YEAH I NOTICED THAT. What was the old title again?
@@poltergeist6692 i think it was just luna death scene? like it was just a serious video but someone changed the title lmfaoooo
@@grokkel I guess that makes it not a spoiler anymore. Still, the title lol
Thank you for being the first one to comment about it
Not cool either
Luna: *dies*
Me: aww sucks she was kinda cool
Ignis: *is blind*
Me: *uncontrolable screaming*
Lol
Relatable
Say what you will about this game: this scene was freaking beautiful.
DimsceneRX Square Enix anatomy class.
Fable she bleeded after the knife hit of this bastard
Belias she’s not really forced, you can tell she wanted to save him.
Yeah him telling her he just wanted to save gets me every time too.. poor noct
They are together. In the afterlife
I cried when LunaFreya died 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Her sacrifice was not in vain she saved him do not forget that
If you listen close you can actually hear the moment your heart snaps in two
7:28 - 7:30
If they built up some kind of connection between the two rather than "They knew each other as kids" Then maybe
I heard that snap long time ago
Some Dude this scene is meant to show how strong their bond was. This is all that was truly needed
You're so right.
the sad part is all notics wanted was to see was luna again.
Michael Young *cough* Zack *cough*
*cries in corner*
laiden25 you just made me cry all over again T_T
Jameelah Panunpang i started to get upset when she was lying on the ground it felt like she was gonna die then noctis wakes up and i thought it was a dream the ignis tells him she's passed and i burst out in tears 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i crying wright now why candt square cinx not be nice
Obito?
I'm pretty sure he prefers to see Stella instead
Agreed. This scene was just so beautifully done. Seriously. One of the most beautiful death scenes I have ever seen.
Also agreed. I watched both the movie and the anime so this scene was hitting hard.
A child crying and saying, "all I wanted was to save you", so much symbolism. It reflects the impotence he must have feel.
Who else felt their heart shatter when they saw ignis
who?
I was too busy processing the scene prior, so not really
Delicious Kawaiigami Iggy, specs, dude with the glasses/shades, the driver
ryutheslayer123 I understand that, the shades and scars on iggys face just caught my eye instantly.

ALL I WANTED WAS A GODDAMN WEDDING WHERE THEY ARE ALL ALIVE AND HAPPY.
SQUARE ENIX, BE NICE TO NOCTIS.
so true
MsClumsyAssassin something similar happens...
Psychedelic Eye in the afterlife or....
listen guys, i said alive.
MsClumsyAssassin I think the real ending is better, than the usual "evil gets killed and everybody is happy"-ending.
Ok, it's something familiar, but not so usual, like it is everywhere seeable.
"Whenever the world fall around you, and hope is lost. When you find yourself alone amid a lightless place... look to the distance... know that I am there... and that I watch over you always"
RIGHT IN THE GODDAMNED FEELS!
That.. that was a beautiful poem/ last words. I listened to the Japanese one too, but I find the English one more beautiful and sadder..
It fits so well because her name means moon hence the light in the dark.
Orlando Perrone yeah
I am sorry but I will always watch over you is such a cheap let down......it's cliched and weak and keeps no one satisfied......I rather be told "I will see you in hell" ...
At least that means something
I knew from the first day i played, this game would get me in my feels with that sad menu music.
He slapped the braids out of her daaaamn
lmao
Thats the funniest shit I've heard all damn week😂😂
omg lol
he slapped her so hard, she turned into stella
Lol I thought you were joking at first but DAMN! He literally smacked the braids out of her hair!
Luna is the moon, Noctis is the night , whenever night falls, the moon will always be accompanied , I know they will be together forever.
they did in the afterlife
That's beautiful
Hence there names Lunafreya and Noctis. It’s a beautiful turn of events. Seriously. Luna’s death scene was beautifully created. I want more stuff that is heart-wrenching but gorgeous just like this.
Ardyn is the darkness of the night, the one thing standing between them but also the thing that connects them. A necessary evil. Fated to be that person forever.
the same applies to the stars and the night sky
I waited years and years and years to see luna and talk to luna and see luna in my party and to see her and noctis be together and i avoided every single spoiler to get to this part and cry like a little fucking bitch when noctis says "all i wanted to is to save you" and that heart touching and heart crushing scene fucking killed me ;-;
killer19183 someone who understands! That single line destroyed me... for years I've waited for Luna. I just wanted to save her too.
and yet you guys are still alive and posting :P
I legit cried, i honestly dont cry that easily either.
killer19183 same
It's so unfair.
That's pretty much what he said lol
Andreas Michael Design nah not really im saying they did set up everything correctly they just didnt put it in the game. He is saying they didnt do it at all.
I see what you mean, but at the end of the day, you don't just remove a chapter from a book and say "the writing is good! but we cut out some of it".
Maybe a better way to put it is... the script is bad because a lot of stuff was cut, and they didn't write/re-write the remaining material to attempt to cover the lost ground in any way.
Jeremy Ang i can agree with that i feel you
For all the People saying Luna didn't look sad or the English dub sucked for the emotion in this scene Luna does not fear death. She said it at least twice in kingsglaive and her actions in that movie and in this scene and smacking a soldiers gun away from her face shows it. The only thing she feared was not doing her duty to help Noctus and wanting to see him one last time.
The scene is so beautiful that I'm in awe instead of being sad.
Rimfaxe96 she's in her wedding dress too
that's not her wedding dress
In the end scene after credits shes in her wedding dress, but her death scene she is not.
No
I felt bad that it was so beautiful that i couldn't feel sad..till he woke up
"All I...all i wanted... was to save you" Young Noctis killed me, and remembering of me in a battle of the past i could not win cause the lack of my experience and years (think people can relate of which battles you fought and are fighting for) .
I dont hate final fantasy 15 but the relation beetween luna and noctis was trash
I literally cared more about ignis's eyes then about luna's life
Literally no conversation beetween luna and noctis while both alive in the game, not to talk about the fact that the last before the game was 12 years ago
I literally care more about ravus than about luna
Maybe Luna wasn't a such a meaningful character for us..
But damn was she meaningful to Noctis..
I guess thats what made me cry like a little baby.. especially when he said as baby Noct "all I wanted was to save you"...
They nailed it. So beautiful but so so breathtakingly sad either.. poor Noct.
Oh man. I didn't notice that Ardyn's eyes returned to normal when Luna tried healing him
Ototo San wait what was wrong with his eyes initially?
Crazy demon juice.
Thank you for telling that, it was from black to gold eyes when she healed him then back to daemonic black again after he slapped her.
----
This is the JAPANESE translation
--
Luna: oh you're here Noctis'sama!
Noctis: "you too?"
Luna: I never thought I'd see you one more time!
Noctis: Why is that?
Luna: Because I finished the mission of the gods.
Noctis : even when you're finished, you can still be with me right?"
Luna: All the gods have acknowledged your power, the ring is going to be back in your hands.
Luna walks away
Luna: When you go back to your friends to visit Tenebrae, there will be alot of flowers awaiting you!
Noctis: what about you?
Luna changes older
Luna: For you to come to see me is enough. (For her to be happy in hidden words as my mom explains)
Noctis: But why...? Even if I died, all I wanted was to save you."
Luna: If you're feeling lonely, remember me.
What is this water running down my face?
Vanilla Milkshakes, ruler of the world it's not water, it's my jizz on your face
Lmao ^
Could also be the blood from having taken a fork to your eyes over having forced them to watching this horrible shtty game for hours on end. Who the fuck is luna anyway his pre ordered wife nomone gives a shit about. Im glad she died get her sappy ass out of the story. Also remove ardyn cor, regismand ignus and prompto from it an w might have us a decent game.
adrian n Lmao get yourself out of here please. Nobody asked or cares about your opinion.
Natsu Dragneel Zoro Roronoa Gohan Exceptthe chump who took time to respond to it.
adrian n Definitely. :)
First Lenne, then Serah now Luna. Uhh hello SE too much heroine deaths can you stop breaking my heart?
You forgot aerith
Sounds like SE is going Ubisoft's path. Killing every lovable female characters.
manTang man tang pff - square have been killing off fave female characters since the 90s
Max Kordei Well, its “Final Fantasy"
Don't forget Aerith.
Very intense and emotional scene. This is one of the few games that made me hate the bad guy with a passion. So glad I beat and killed him.
Ardyn was a victim too tho
Actually, he's as much a spoiled child as Noct is. He thought if he did all this stuff for the kingdom he deserved a reward. He's basically throwing a tantrum against people who weren't even born during the denial of his birthright.
I get why he's upset, and I feel for him but he is NOT a victim. He just plays the card as an excuse for vengeance.
You're an a$$hole; with terrible grammar. And yes, that did feel good. Though I know (even negative) attention is all you want.
Golden Productions Oh sephiroth? Yah he was a dick huh.
ardyn isn't a brat, dude literally slurped demons for lunch breakfast and dinner and 5 gods could do nothing to remove it from him so they were like yeah fuck it fuck you buddy your brother with the antlers coming out of his cheek armor is going to be king cya kid, id want to destroy entire kingdoms too lol that's basically jesus doing everything that he did and god not coming to get him bruh
ok who changed the title
This was the most beautiful and emotional death scene that I've ever seen. The music, the animation, the voice acting and emotions of the character were absolutely amazing. The beauty of this scene alone is enough for me to shed a tear. There's just one thing that bothers me about it - the fact that I don't care about Luna all that much. I think that Square Enix really messed up here. If they gave Luna more screen time and gave us a chance to get to know her better, then I'm 99,999999% sure that her death would be the most heartbreaking scene in the history of Final Fantasy and would be one of the most famous deaths in video games in general.
I suppose you havent play Final Fantasy 7
@@Neolux20 true, crisis core and advent children. And if we just focus on the saddest ending but no death involves, then i might add FFX.
The part that killed was when he finally got with her and now death spoken to soon to take her away from him again but this to the grave. Jesus noctis has lost so much.
Noctis : Lost his father, mother and his fiancee. Sacrifies himself at the end of the game
Prompto : A lonely boy during his childhood, was originally a Niflheim born
Ignis : He gone blind? That is worse than anything I can expect.
Gladio : Did not have anything, but he and his father does a lot for Noctis and his family
Easily they are the best characters of Final Fantasy man.
AdamRonaldo1903 gladio father died too when try to protect king regis ( the movie version )
kuro gami Yes
AdamRonaldo1903 ignis is blind
AdamRonaldo1903 they're pretty good but I won't say they're all the best just noctis and ignis mainly. We could say the same about other characters in the series if you played more than 15.
Prompto reminds me of Naruto because he grew up lonely as a nifilheim.
the English dub in this scene is far more superior than the Japanese version. I'm surprised tbh
SakMinZeez Cuz You're a weeb.
Charles Jiles How is that being a weeb?
@@Po-fi People tend to do that
played it in dub the voice acting is spot on going replay in the Japanese sub now
I love her voice. And the emotion in it is perfect. Simply heartbreaking
Her name is Amy Shiels, an underrated actress who appears in Twin Peaks reboot.
I was more depressed for the Regalia actually.
same
Dracogame 😂
Same
Yeah, if Luna;s name wasn't in the title and it just said "(Extremely Emotional Scene) death" I'd click on it expecting to see the Regalia.
$10 says Square Enix puts a busted up Regalia in a future game as an easter egg.
lol when the English voice acting is better than the Japanese version for once.
That actually caught me by surprise, generally atlus games have the best voice acting, but SE truly outdid themselves with FF15 and the focus on characters.
This scene in particular is so much stronger with the english cast.
Kingdom Hearts
Andre00x its because funimation didnt do the dub
Dang
Andre00x after watching this scene in Japanese and english , I do wonder if the subtitles are DubTitles.
I say that because when I heard some of the sentences ,they didn't seem to match, the subtitles. I don't know Japanese but I do memorize certain sentences and what they mean..
I legit cried when Noctis says all i wanted to do was save you. Damn FF15 was so good definitely one of my favorites.
It's final fantasy 7 all over again....
thersnoobzerlawl lol nice one
Except in 7 you actually got to know the girl who died.
She was your childhood friend, as well as the oracle who is to marry the prince, of course you knew her
thersnoobzerlawl I liked this one more than 7 it became my fav final fantasy of them all XD VI,VIII and X were my fav but XV it's just amazing I hope they keep this battle system for future FF , mmmm maybe in FF 7 remake they might use it
Cloud Leonhart
yeah i did too, but sad to say the game was to short, they spent almost 15 years working on this game, only for me to finish the game in under 20 hours, great story, great graphics, to short
You're supposed to feel for him, not for her.
xMattais if you did sidequests, then maybe...
Sidequests? more like fetchquests...that was pretty much 50 hrs of my gameplay.. .and I'm not sure why I did them....The side quests added absolutely nothing to the world of Eos, and were pretty boring to be honest...collecting dog tags..finding frogs...and the poorly done hunting system where you could only do one hunt at a time...
I know there were a few character interaction sidequests, like taking photos with Prompto, and it was great at first...but eventually it got really repetitive..and also, when driving, they would repeat the same dialogs over and over again to eachother XD anyways, sorry to go on...but I swear..this game only had about 10 hrs of main story.. and that's pretty sad for a final fantasy title :(
what
what happened to the title-
Luna's death was not that sad to be honest, luna was a super rushed character with no build up, the plot was all around her and noctis yet we know so little of her. Hell i know more of prompto then her, it has less impact then yuna crying at the end of ffx im sorry
datt1998 You're supposed to feel bad for Noctis, not her.
Felt nothing in this scene. I saw Luna only 3 times in cutscenes and that is not enough time for me to be emotionally invested. Ignis's case was sad as I already spent 30+ hours hanging out with him
really? 30+ hours by that time? I beat the game in 25
Armorwing01
Was playing slowly, enjoying and exploring places. Doing quests and all...
Crim Rui oh, I saved that for last. Fun exploring. Now to just wait for more updates and DLC
Armorwing01
I always make a breather between story missions, do couple of side quests and then continue on. What's left from them I do after the main story, if there is an option of course. Yeah, excited to see on what they expand later on.
Same, to be honest, I did like Luna, but not for reasons people would expect
If u guys want to know,Luna not dies...she have teleport in Kingdom Heart and change her name tu Namine
Skipper Kick Yeah they really do look alike
She does look like Namine
HEK YEA
THIS WAS JUST MOTHERFUCKING BEAUTIFUL.
PERHAPS ONE OF THE MOST TRAGIC YET BEAUTIFUL DEATH ON ANY VIDEO GAME I HAVE SEEN/ PLAYED
OH HELL YEAH TO THEM SON OF BITCHES AT SQUARE ENIX... Y'ALL DESERVE A STONE COLD BEER
Stone Cold Steve Austin And that's the bottom line 'cause Stone Cold said so.
HELL YEAH BITCHES
Oh shit! Yo Austin, looks like McMahon just pissed himself after seeing Noctis failed to save Luna.
Roxas fading away telling Sora his time was in Kingdom Hearts is pretty tragic too but this plus the ending wedding is a storm of melancholic bitter sweetness :/
Stone Cold Steve Austin Zack Fair... that was tragic... all death in FFVII was tragic... then this game.... WOW I almost gave a fuck!
Why didn't they both use pheonix down?!?!?!
Maven Delizo it only works when one has a plot armor, however tiny it is. Sadly, at that moment Luna's plot armor was gone.
Because phoenix downs only work when the character is K.O.’ed not dead :P
The question we always ask during scenes like this.
You guys are such fake fans lmao, they tried using phoenix down on dead people in ff before, it only works if a person is still alive, just heavily wounded. It does not bring back the dead
Ardyn is a fuckin badass best antagonist ever in a ff game. the voice is outstanding. very good work
Umm... Kefka?
fuck if only the whole game was as good as this section. i feel like they really dropped the ball by not having enough cg cutscenes and story momentum. the first half feels like a totally different game from the second half. The opening dissappointed me too. It should've had the city invasion/escape shit shown in the original trailers. Would've made a great opening like FFX. But i'll take what I can get. This cutscene especially gave me some kingdom hearts vibes
Mason Buchko fuck man i cried hard at xion s death
Mason Buchko I Was sure I Was the only one Having kingdom Hearts Vibe! Now im Stoked for KH 3!!!!
Whole reason w got a bad ass movie opener, that was very beautiful as an ffdiehard for them to do for us! =)
Which would make this scene more heartbreaking and impactful.
and thats how a man becomes bitter
Armorwing01 amen.
Armorwing01 and ignorant
I finally played it and I still could not believe she died
Noctis and Roxas have to be 2 of the saddest square characters. Like they don’t deserve half the shit that happens to them.
I was honestly more upset about Ignis being blind. Sure, her death is sad, but Iggy is my boy!
DudeReelTalk i hated ignus and was exstatic he went blind. hoped he would leave the party. But nope :(
Her death wasn't sad or tragic at all. I cared more about the Regalia Car and Ignis.
I feel the writers were really forcing us to cry in this scene, but meh, it didn't worked on me. I definitely felt worse for Ignis
this lmao.i remember making her death soooo dramatic & was like: "....so?"
actually the whole game felt this way....because the game was incomplete.
Never seen a title so accurate
"Extremely emotional scene?" Yeah, it's sad but Luna was in the game for like ten minutes so it didn't really matter. I felt more bad about Noctis and Ignis.
It took me a whole while to realize that Luna's farewell scene was CGI and the rest is the game's engine. That's how the game graphics impressed me back in 2016. They still look beautiful though.
Music reminds me of Kingdom Hearts

mfw this video shows up in my recommended while watching a spoiler free playthrough of the game and I see the title
I thought those flower were real
The graphics...10/10
Better CGI than Kh3's plastic cgi.
My mind broke at this scene
ryutheslayer123 Lmao me too! I was mad as fuck. Like why is this a scene? Lunar is the worst. Well ff15 is the worst boring game with zero emotional parts.
this is me the whole game -_-
80 bucks waisted
Lol masterpiece. This guy.
nobody survives even one bit He sacrificed himself an no one cared.
And when I came to, I thought, wait what, she can't die just like that
“some anime chick gets shanked” LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This scene made me cry
I know a lot of people think Luna is a cardboard character. I thought that to, but I feel like watching this scene adds so much depth to her
She's immensely strong.
Have watched this scene so many times over and over again. It's beautiful, and touching, full of tears every time.
Luna is the most forgettable character in this game. You only see her in one chapter and she dies right away.
That slight pissed off look on Ardyn’s face before he smacks her.
I really, really wish we got to at least have her DLC. It annoys me we didn't get more of her.
Ardyn emotes so much in this scene, watching it again after knowing his story makes it so much more impacting.

Yo what are these comments there’s supposed to be 1.8k but there’s like 4
Never disrespect Luna this way again
Who is still watching this scene?
Watching Luna tearfully go and Noctis drown was surprisingly heart wrenching. Even tho I never got to know Luna enough explore the entire world together, the time they shared together as friends was still touching. They had all lost so much. Ignis never got his eyesight back, yet he was till right there by Noctis' side.
I bawled my eyes out like a baby during this scene.
1:21 he slapped the braids out her hair
He glitched the braids out of her
every time i watched this for the past year i screamed. *internally*
WHEN DID THE VIDEO TITLE CHANGE
They really loved each other. Don‘t tell me otherwise
quite a spoilerific title you have there.
ONAMI Show I hate when people do this. Windows version has just came out and many haven’t played it. Some even excuse it for being an old game, which is also quite silly :/. It’s a critical story plot point. ...And I don’t even like this game too much. Oh well.
some anime chick gets shanked
bruh i just bought this game and this video was in my recommendations WTF what a spoiler lol
Tony Xing not really you must be really dumb not to know luna was going to die, and its square enix come on
Tony Xing All the love interests die.
I remember I dropped a tear when Ignis said “she has passed.”
That moment is so powerful.
"forewell...dear noctys" still i dont overcome it :(((
sad life for Noctis. 😭
Aerith death in FF7 is much sadder than Luna death... its because we all know about Aerith story (Crisis Core even make her story more impacts), and she was our comrade all along, it is far difficult to accept her death
rewatching this scene now, i realize that she knew from childhood that this would happen...
This is the best title ever
That one look from Ardyn almost told his entire story right there. He was tempted to take Luna's healing right then and there, but his anger at the Gods prevented him from doing so.
anyone else think Noctis looks like Sasuke from Naruto?
Madison Gillispie Hmm kinda but adult noctus is more keanu reaves
well this video just popped out from my reccomended, i dont know the story behind this, but this scene makes me very sad, just imagining the people that actually play the games have to see this story
it really was a fucked up trip.-.
I love this game. But I just don't care for Luna
Every shot in this scene was beautiful and would make a good wallpaper
Bruh, the title. 😂💀
My reaction has, and always will be, "AFTER ALL THAT?!" My boy Noctis needs a break.
