Mike, You make running equipment so easy. The only thing that I can operate right is a fishing pole. It is a pleasure to watch your videos. God Bless and Good Health.
"We'll see if the basement fits in the hole" spoken like a true BOSS Mike! Very nice material on that job, like your simple layout calculations for grade and depth, also your thoughts on the layout. Much respect for you working alone the 1st day, with just your rod man. Do you typically have the option to haul off excess material from the jobsite after your backfill is done? That's some "perfect dirt" as you stated. I'm very impressed with your smooth edge grading bucket also, seems to do a sweet job and move large amounts of dirt quickly and the 120 doesn't seem to mind at all. Nice operating, great video, and narration bud. 5 stars! Looking forward to the floor drain installation particulars and your process for installing the underfloor rock with the drains in place. Work safe Doug@ the "ranch"
Great video Mike thanks for sharing this all with us. U share ur whole life in the job with us all. Have a great one. Hell u could have just backed up the hill really fast and slammed on the breaks and watch it slid off. Lol lol
I hope Mr. Eliteearthworks doesn't see how nice this soil is, he will be envious. It seems like he is always digging in a rock quarry. It odd how some places have no rock and others are nothing but rock. Job looks great!
Dirt Perfect You just keep the vids comin. I learn something from each one of em. I know it slows production a bit to make these vids and I definitely appreciate your time!!!
Ain't nothing like being kicked back pulling levers watching it all unfold lol. Ol Jerry keeping things in check. I had to run my Jerry off today. Forgot whose job sight it was smh.
Please send Brandon a train car of that topsoil.... heck, our topsoil is so bad.... you could send the under fill and we’d think it was garden soil!!!! Btw... nice job. Frank Quality for sure!
Wow you guys and elites and lets dig. Dirt is like the gravy train. Compared to where we are in new England. I gotta get a vid up someday. We get houselots where your 4 or 5 days with a 160 just to de rock it so you can start digging and hit more rock.
I was going to try but the project I’m on is in full swing so I can’t. been thinking about coming down to derby one weekend when big time Elite can make it up
Would it not be a more efficient way to go if you loaded a dump truck as you dug the foundation? Just a newbie trying to get it all figured out. I suppose if you didn't have the dozer that would be the way to go?
I was running a CAT 235 on a job near Des Moines back in the early 90s and some bones came up with a scoop on this high ground above the river all overgrown in big oaks and per protocol,1st the police - then after them, they contacted the archeology department and they determined the bones were from a horse. They kept digging carefully and found some human remains and more horse remains and other artifacts - turns out it was a Native burial ground. Never heard of being buried with your horse before?! This was a large golf course, luxury homes development and that whole process ate a bunch of time. Depending on who you're working for, if that happens, many times (sadly) the command comes from the foreman to keep digging and bury that shit fast!
Is that nudura icf?i just dug out an industrial warehouse with a 743 bobcat and a Hyundai 16-9 excavator then we built and poured the footings and yesterday we finished building the walls with nudura icf and poured it, first one for me, I would’ve like to start with a house that size, we did it all with 4 men.
Dirt Perfect ya it turned out good for a first icf job, 1 small bulge in the forms on a pier but that’s it, braced the heck out of it, looks like a porcupine lol
Good point. We see Chris Guins loading their dump truck with everything from dirt to cleared timber just to move it 50 yards to a bury pit or burn pile. We have also seen him use their big excavator while Tim is using the dozer, and Chris reckons he is moving six yards to Tim's one. They use the dump truck even when Chris has to keep jumping from excavator to dump truck and drive it himself. When you are moving thousands of yards, then stuff like that can add up to a whole lot of time saved.
All depends on how far your going on this short of push truck would just be in the way because you still need the dozer to push in a pile on a longer haul I agree
are you guys still in april with the weather here we were going to be the first house and ya its the 9th month :-( but its getting better except for the 6" of rain haha great vid with ther slop you guys should do a day light drain too thats the only thing thats been saving our buts ours is 45" slope @ 300' long
Hello My Friend Mike and why doesn't your wife operate the Dozer when you don't have anyone else to help you and I believe that your wife would very much enjoy working with you !
Neat job sir. Escavator once again so versatile . But will say guess we have to give operator some credit for perfection in the dirt. Lol. Thx for showing.
hey just idea only tractor time with tim here on you tube has a company that may help you that bucket with no teeth you have they may make a tooth bar you can take on and off that way you got a 2 in 1 bucket hope you dont mind me pointing this out
Why not load the dirt in the dump truck and load and dump where you want the dirt to go? Handle the dirt one time instead of pushing it and handling it twice?

As you see later this dirt was so good we used some to nuke up the driveway. And yes the 120 handles the larger bucket well

Remember it's faster moving 4 yards of dirt with dump truck, then 1 yard with a Dozer.

About 70 yards the change over to a truck depending on size a dozer you have we where going 45 yards on this one

Must be hard work with the leg resting on the front screen their.
How long did it take??
good jobber
How do you work out the best way/most efficient to move the dirt?
Distance and it needs moved and the ground conditions are the two big ones

Why don’t you push your top soil to the low point of grade instead of the high side so you can work it back up to the foundation.

Is the freeze line so deep that most homes have basements?
No just want the floor plan called for freeze like here is 18”
Will this be a storm bunker?
