Captain, when Jerry looks a little disappointed, its cause he remembers back when he was a young man, and he understands those days are long gone. Hes happy he still gets to work with a great group of young men. Still able to get out there and make a difference. Its hard to read a older persons face, so dont read alot into it. Most people his age would not even try to do what he does, he is one of a kind. Like everyone else on the crew. Head up Captain.
14:55. I never ever saw a guy clean out a mud-packed truck like that with an excavator. My hat's off to you, Jerry for showing off your expertise in such a masterful way. Without you, that dumptruck drive would've had to hand dig all that. Love your videos. Keep 'em coming!
Using that rock as a base for the road is a plus for the owner. Will definitely raise the road without having to use excess dirt for build up. Mother nature will provide when you least expect it!
I'm glad that everything turned out to okay with the rock . The dig turned out great and the driveway looks good, and left over big pieces of rock for other projects, so everything was a win, win situation . Great looking job site when you all got done with the first phase, from the drone view . 🤗👍💖💫
A great thing about your videos being a few weeks later is we will see fall colors this winter! DP is one of my favorite channels. Thanks for taking us to work with you! Jerry needs to start a channel now!
Nice video, always interesting watching the rock get dug. Good thing the captan kept the truck out of the corn, probably would have totaled that truck.
It’s hard to believe how neat and organized your job sites are when you’re ready to start the footings. Nice clear area around the hole for concrete delivery is not anything I ever saw in the past.
Man... Jerry was really scooting along in that drone shot! Nice to see you got Captain K a work uniform! Mike... think how much easier it would have been if you had started that cut at the other end... ahhh, fickle finger of fate got ya again!
Another great video with a great crew. Don't be too harsh on the Captain as I'm sure that Jerry with the dozer will straighten things out (literally). Nice to see such camaraderie between workmates. All the very best to you, your crew, and family from Manchester U.K.
Couldn't agree more...NEVER jump to conclusions. That old saying holds true "haste makes waste." Excellent decision using the rock onsite saving costs with not having to purchase road base and fuel of hauling out the rock. Just hope the rock shelf lasts enough to complete the driveway. Great Job, good decisions!
Great job. We dont have rock in mid Illinois but I'm sure it sucks. Guy that digs for us has a laser set up on his excavator. Helps him alot and allows for one person operation
"Sometimes Jerry just looks at me like he's disappointed, it really hurts. I don’t know. " Jerry's probably thinking "Damn crazy kids these days, always running around like their hair's on fire, thinking they have it rough. They wouldn't know what rough looks like if it came up and slapped them in the face. It" ROTFL 🤣
So easy to be a rocking chair quarter back with this stuff. I know you don't know what going to happen until you are faced with it. Great job and well done.
Mike, you have a great attitude and treat the guys nicely which makes it fun to build a road and dig a basement. Do you ever get worried and stressed about things not working out correctly?
Looking good !! Love watching excavators load trucks idk why but that’s my favorite thing to watch .. Been raining like crazy down here in Ga the past two days so I’ve been stuck in the shop.. Much needed rain tho so can’t complain to much..
Always with rock it must be 2 foot min in my area below foundation, roads, and exc.... When you hit rock while contracted you better have A rock clause or A very nice GC and developer..lol other than that with a change order you can dig, hammer or even blast its all usually paid by the hour and I love that kind of work. Like unsuitable material needing to be undercut you don't give your work away If its a lot of material to move get it out of there with a change order... Most privet already by the hour work or even lump sum pricing without knowing you make an agreement to get it out by some type of payment then back to the original job...Its like a small bonus. If its very little work I'd just dig it out and go on,, no worries.
Great info on getting through the rock! I really enjoy your videos. I’m wanting a basement on my build in the mountains of Chattanooga Tn but am nervous about all the sandstone and clay.
Nice job, Jerry wouldn't mind the rock with the 850. Dirt, careful where you use that grease. Culvert connection no problem but sdr35 for example it can eat the gasket that grease is a petro based product. Just sayin. lol
With a limestone bottom like that they must of had some nice crops but it's a real pain trying to dig a basement that's forsure let alone everything else that's needs dug in. Keep up the great videos

where are you at where 2 feet OD is the law? i dig up here in michigan and im jealous lol also nice tip taking a deep breath and moving through the rock slowly.
We got a lot of the layered limestone here I. KY. We have alot of success using the single tooth pick attachments on excavator. There also easy to make if you do another DIY improvements on excavator.
You wouldn't be using that bucket where I live :). I buried a propane tank a couple of weeks ago. Operator brought his 321CAT Trackhoe. Could he have used a smaller one, Sure. But I don't think anything less than his 318. It's all rock here. I"m thinking of building a post frame building and if I do, It'll probably be slab on grade. The soil here is pretty granular and if I dig the edges 12-18", I'll pretty much be on rock.
thank goodness for commander Jerry to keep this operation on the straight and narrow ,abbott and costello needs to work on their communication skills a little bit more
A little rock doesn't stop a good operator:) Directional driller during the day. Lost a few parts due to rock in the ground, oops! My house is built on bedrock, with only 18 to 22 inches of 'topsoil', they had to blast the basement (1947). Great Canadian shield, lots of rock quarries in my area.
