They got a lot of recognition in the early 2000s , i remembering watching their music videos on MTV. Coheed still has a decent following but to millennials who grew up in the warped tour era this band is legendary status
Too true. I'm one of them and I didn't fully appreciate this band until I got older and now I'm mid 30s and understand that they were so far ahead that the world still hasn't quite caught up.@@zoogie980
I’m 31, listening to this song for the first time since I was a teenager and fuckin bawling. I’ve never had such bittersweet nostalgia from a song before. It brought me right back to those shitty amazing teenage years.
I just got into Coheed and Cambria with this red IV album and I'm 18 turning 19 this February. Well my older distant cousin recommended this to me, but I'm telling you that I've been so delighted with this album and really OBSESSED with this song on repeat since 2023 started (3 days). It's so nice to hear old rock stuff for me because it's just so nice to know all about different kinds of ways rock can be rock. I'm also inspired by mixing music and storytelling, not like music with weird or bland lyrics or good lyrics like poetry but awful melodies.
I don't like much rock music from my generation because idk, it feels pretty pretentious or nostalgia baiting in some ways since rock has been trending the whole 2022 yet look how it's not all that creative especially how the drums usually be hiphop with 808 drums but of course there's plenty kinds of rock so I can't really put my finger to what I'm trying to say. I like beabadoobee and Pretty Sick though. I recommend you listen to their new albums, both of them respectively
Sorry I just wanted to share that stuff, I don't have anybody to talk to about cool rock music and that's because there's sooo much scope for older music to explore and yet most rock nowadays are just noise. It's rare to find cool acts out here, you gotta dig since everything is all here online but you gotta be patient. I gave up and stuck to the Dirty Hit record label roster
@einev.1373 oh mate lol I've been a metal head (and sub genres) all my life, yet I struggle with today's music alot too. A skylit drive was one of my favorites as a lil emo teenager. Same generation at this lot, and a lead singer that sounds girly, but with more of a screamo/emo sound. Wires and the concept of breathing was an album that ruled my life for a while. Enjoy the journey! Some truly great stuff out there to find.
@@weeeeee374 Thanks for the recommendation! I'm gonna go check em out. Sorry it's been 8 days since I replied, but here I am still having Good Apollo I on repeat 😅
I'm in my 60's and my nephew introduced me to this group. It was instant love. But then, I am a big fan of Rush, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Yes and most of the other big, explosinvely complex sounding bands. And they tell stories, to boot!
I read that way too quickly... the "I am a big fan of Rush..." part.... I thought you said "I am a big time rush fan".... I was reloading my Insult Gun...
Marcus Baxley Claudio has stated that they didn't even listen to very much Rush until someone told them they sound a lot like them, and then they listened deeper and took inspiration. kind of interesting, lol
I used to listen to a lot of Coheed. They would play this music video A LOT on Fuse TV circa 2005-2006, back then, it was a good alternative to MTV, because they actually played music videos and focused on music. Then it became pop and hip-hop only and soon enough reality tv crap, I don't even know if Fuse exists anymore. Ten years, god dammit, time flies by.
I'm new to Coheed and Cambria, but this song drew me in. Because of this, I've been trying to listen to all their albums for the last week. Awesome stuff.
I’ve listened to all their albums, but this one always draws me back, its not even my favorite persay, there are just so many good tracks on burning star IV, and they all have themes that you can piece together or relate to in your own way.
I just saw Coheed last night. I was so shocked at how amazing they were live. Better live than on record. I wish I could hang out with everyone who was there all the time.

Takes me back to my angsty confused depressed and amazing teenage high school years!! 🤘🏻😎 Back when I had to wait for songs like this to play on the radio. I didn’t have a cell phone. Didn’t even know what this band looked like until about 10 years later when I was able to look them up on UA-cam because I simply remembered this band.
I saw this video on TV 17yrs ago and it changed me forever. I introduced this band to my wife and she loves them as much as I do. So good. Changed my life.
First concert I went to that truly knocked my socks off. (2005 Central Park, NYC for free!) Feel blessed to have come up with them while they were in their heyday. One of the great rock bands of the 2000's era.
The year is 2007 and I'm 13 years old. Last christmas I was given a small black MP3 player; it had no display, about 500mb of memory and 4 hours of battery charge. I asked my older sister for some music to download since she had a job and could afford to buy CDs at the HMV in town and among the stack of plastic cases she presented me was Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV. She had bought it because she had a crush on Cladio Sanchez. My Dad didn't really like music being played too loud and my Mum thought it was rude to wear earphones around people- they weren't harsh about it or anything but I was a really shy kid absolutely terrified of getting in trouble at all so the only time I felt comfortable listening to my mp3 player was late at night in my room, lying in bed with the light off so my parents would think I was asleep. Welcome Home, Ten Speed and of course the Suffering blasting in my ears, goosebumps running up and down my arms, and fantasies of learning guitar burning in my mind I discovered the joy of really getting into music. This wasnt anything like the REM or Oasis my parents listened to or the indie rock on the radio. It felt like something that was just mine in a way, something more imprtant than music I merely liked, a sonic niche around which I could grow my nascent identity. I'm sure most people have an artist or a song that impacted them at the same age, a core memory of sound, but Coheed and Cambria is mine. I would eventually move on to Green Day and Evanescence, My Chemical Romance and Slipknot, Iron Maiden and AC/DC, and although all of those bands were and some are very important to me they were pretty much the standard progression of a kid my age who liked rock music. Coheed was my thing and I revelled in the fact that no-one else seemed to get past the song titles and album names or Sanchez's singing or the weird sci-fi concept. My little private corner of the subculture. I'm sure if it wasnt Coheed and Cambria it would've been something else but it wasn't so it isn't. This music is the bedrock foundation of all the music I listen to now, the force that shaped the lense I understand music through to this day. The man I am now at 30 years old is just a consequence of a 13 year old boy, listening to Wake Up in the middle of the night and crying.
It's 2022 and I 100% JUST realized he said "I may be invited girl, but I'm not coming in"....you guys..all this time I would've sworn it was "I may be a Matador, but I'm not coming in"...🤯🤯🤯
How i missed these when i was younger is beyond me, i just heard a small clip on a video and was in love with the singer. I found them, and i can not believe how good they are 😊
I love that this Neo-Prog-Rock/Pop-Punk (looking at you Color Before the Sun) band with most of it's discography being part of a massive sci-fi concept doesn't have music videos related to the concept. What should we have the music video for song about the Writer and his Girlfriend feature? Centaurs and Krakens and Mermaids and shit!
I love that this vid was made in direct opposition to the concept. It was the most accessible song on the album, and they fucked the record company not only with the video, but with their approach to marketing. Love this band.
All I see in this video is the title being "the suffering" and then the singer in the thumbnail with the biggest happiest smile on his face while looking at (what appears to be to me) a happy sunset....
When I was in middle school my dad took me and my brother to see an Iron Maiden concert and coheed and Cambria opened up for them. Never realized how legendary that was until I got older
Have you ever tried to sing this song, while playing the guitar, while defusing a bomb with your toes? It's hard. These were the first rockstars I ever met. I was about 16. My first concert. Them and Avenged Sevenfold. I was a lucky boy. Saw them again years later with Jane's Addiction, and they blew me away. They're amazing. Thanks for the memories.
It’s crazy how all Coheed and Cambria songs are based off the comic series “the amory wars” with the exception of one album, might try and read amory wars soon.
So I'm an old girl. Lived through late 70s. All of the 80s and everything after. But there's something about this Era of music' that keeps me so happy to replay. ❤
my brother was really into this genre of music, and for years this video was stuck in my head but I never found/remembered who sang this. thank gosh I found it!!!

People like Dallas Dettling make me proud to be a CoCa fan. I kinda like the fact that this band is so different, its what attracts me to their music. At first i hated it too but that was when i was in middle school and didnt realize how musically genius these guys are. His voice is unique, the guitar riffs are unique, of course there are gonna be haters.....and to them I say.....congrats on using you right of free speech true fans dont care about your opinion because thats exactly what it is....your opinion. my opinion? these guys are the greatest of all time. And to me atleast, my own opinion is the only one that matters lol
I don't know WHAT THE HELL it is, but I SUDDENLY, after a good ten years since I last heard it, got a very strong urge to listen to this song today! And this is the fourth time I have listened today. It's like an itch I can't scratch.
Claudio has the most majestic hair EVER. My favorite band of all time. Stood 10 feet from him the last Coheed show I was at back in 2017. Security escorted me and my lil brother to the front of the pit. Best day of my life
It pains me so much that the meanings of these songs are lost on most people. Every song by this band is based on the lead singer's comic books, The Amory Wars. It follows a married couple Coheed and Cambria. It's some amazing writing, and it will definitely change how you think about the music. Devil in Jersey City is a whole new level of fucked up if you read the comics.
That’s true I still haven’t read the comics because Claudio always says the Music is definitely the interpretation of the Comics but also whatever the listener feels is what it means to them as well
I saw a video describing how fans have taken upon themselves to get the comics turned into a tv series. Idk how far they've gotten, but that would be siiiiick
I remember not liking this song when my younger sister played it back in 2007, but it quickly became one of my all time favorite songs. Throughout college and the years after through all that has happened this song continues to speak to me.
This song literally saved my life. After a brutal breakup, this song gave me comfort. I love these guys. I've got to see them live three times. Always amazing.
This is my intro to coheed and cambria. My first ever wake and bake with my older brother. I was in the 8th grade, high out of my mind for the first time in the AM and this came on MTV and took over. It made my mood SO good for school that day.
Good God bless this is the Pinnacle of progressive, pop, metal and should really bear the standard of whatever spirit possessed Styx during their all time highs
Claudio is a hell of a story teller

Do masterpieces stop being masterpieces?
Haha absolutely it is!!
It’s crazy how all Coheed and Cambria songs are based off the comic series “the amory wars” with the exception of one album, might try and read amory wars soon.
Such a killer band. Best album perfect show I’ve seen. And they played the first two albums. My favorite. Love love.
So I'm an old girl. Lived through late 70s. All of the 80s and everything after. But there's something about this Era of music' that keeps me so happy to replay. ❤
This was the last era push before a lot of bands sold out
Last country stars faded into repetition
Then
Taylor swift happened
That means you are a badass chick! ❤
When I was younger I remember I use to watch this over and over all the time, I thought it was such a cool music video
+Brooke Applewhite Yeah, I did that too
my brother was really into this genre of music, and for years this video was stuck in my head but I never found/remembered who sang this. thank gosh I found it!!!
I was only 11 when this came out. I remember watching this all the time on Fuse back then. [Back when it played more than just hip-hop.]
+Emily Frey Back then they didn't play hip-hop.
Yeah if I remember correctly they were all about the alternative scene
FUSE was the shit
In my opinion, this song would save me from Vecna
Underrated comment 😂
Ha ha SAME
Hahaha 😆 😂 🤟
turning 32 this year, so grateful for the music during my teenage years. ‘00’s like no other
it was the best time
Turning 17 this year and I absolutely love this song and this kinda music 100% the best era of music
The more I hear of this band the more impressed I am. And the singer/guiatrists hair rulez! What I wouldn't give to have hair that cool!:)
Man, this band got me through some rough times in Iraq!
My dad was a combat medic in Mosul back in 03-04
I WAS A COMBAT ARMY MP STATIONED AT THE 323RD MPCO 2003-2005. STAIND AND 3 DOORS DOWN GOT ME THROUGH MY SERVICE TIME.
@@seosamh.forbes ID ASSUME YOUR DAD IS SOMEWHERE NEAR MY AGE? I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL IN 2003 AND WAS ON A PLANE TO AN ARMY CAMP 3 MONTHS LATER. I HAVE TWO SONS, ONE WHO IS ALMOST 16 AND MY YOUNGEST IS ALMOST 12.
@@shaunstewart9528 Why are you yelling?

Watching and listening to this music before school. I can’t explain how must nostalgia can connect you you to good music.
I was surprised when I saw the singer of C&C, especially when he has his double neck guitar out and just shredding that thing.
I've been lookin for this video for years..... YEARS. I couldn't remember who sung it, just what the video was.
Id kill for claudio's voice.
bush wookie I'd settle for his hair
I'd kill myself if I had claudio's voice
@@ThisIsNotHappyDays LMAO
I'd kill for any singing voice!!!
He's a phenomenal guitar player too.
Well said.
This song changed my life...for real ..... I'm mad at myself for not listening to it
The prechorus to this song is my favorite thing.
(The "if it was up to me" part)
I don't know WHAT THE HELL it is, but I SUDDENLY, after a good ten years since I last heard it, got a very strong urge to listen to this song today! And this is the fourth time I have listened today. It's like an itch I can't scratch.
Still go back to these boys from time to time. They really had an interesting mix, a sort of upbeat melancholy.
The boys are dope
I remember being in high school getting ready in the mornings watching MTV and this video would always play. Good memories.
Almost every single song dropped by this band is a absolute master piece even in 2010 I couldn't understand why people sleep on them
Let them sleep...keep your gems
lol
I remember hearing this song for the first time. My drummer at the time played it at rehearsal and I was like "woahhh" who's that????
How did I not know there was a music video for this classic?? Always been a fav of mine
I love how Prog this album was. Am I the only one who thinks this was by far their best album?
Patrick Gleeson It is there only album as far as I am concerned.
Patrick Gleeson everyone loves this album. Every song on this album was great.
their two best albums are 'In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3' and 'Good Apollo, I'm burning Star IV, Volume One'
They all put so much passion into this. I love it. Especially the lead singer he so passionate feeling the music
Listening in 2024!! ❤
I remember this video coming on MTV every morning before school. Back when MTV was actually good - Room Raiders, NEXT, etc
Claudio has the most majestic hair EVER. My favorite band of all time. Stood 10 feet from him the last Coheed show I was at back in 2017. Security escorted me and my lil brother to the front of the pit. Best day of my life
This takes me back to when i used to watch music videos before walking to high school in the morning 😌
I remember ironing my clothes with MTV playing this and other good songs I would've never listened to
It pains me so much that the meanings of these songs are lost on most people. Every song by this band is based on the lead singer's comic books, The Amory Wars. It follows a married couple Coheed and Cambria. It's some amazing writing, and it will definitely change how you think about the music. Devil in Jersey City is a whole new level of fucked up if you read the comics.
That’s true I still haven’t read the comics because Claudio always says the Music is definitely the interpretation of the Comics but also whatever the listener feels is what it means to them as well
Thanks for this
I think i need to find them
I saw a video describing how fans have taken upon themselves to get the comics turned into a tv series. Idk how far they've gotten, but that would be siiiiick
Did not know that thank you
My dad was actually giving a comic book by himself
I remember not liking this song when my younger sister played it back in 2007, but it quickly became one of my all time favorite songs. Throughout college and the years after through all that has happened this song continues to speak to me.
Saw this as a child and would dream of it from time to time... So happy I figured the title out. Timeless.
2021. Can’t deal with how awesome this song still is.
It's 2021 & the masterpiece still holds
loved this song. of course, it was the first one i had ever heard from these guys.
They're awesome live. If you ever get a chance take it and see them, they sound just like their records. Plus C&C go the extra mile too.
Still a banger!
dang, didn’t know hagrid’s voice changed and he started a band. I feel old
Or Hagrid before puberty.
@@thenerdofthenorth8205 he was born with a beard and full head of hair and 5'11"
Ambitious video.
“Look at this guys face vs. his voice” is how my brother introduced me to Coheed.
2023 and my music preferences wont ever change.
Does a centaur + mermaid = a seahorse...?
Yes.
Carl Koree Ochah or maybe a hippocampus,
Carl Koree Ochah It's called Capricornus.. :D
How stoned are you?
Carl Koree Ochah
You got a 50/50 shot at a seahorse or just a regular human.
Their singer has one of the most unique voices I ever heard
Good God bless this is the Pinnacle of progressive, pop, metal and should really bear the standard of whatever spirit possessed Styx during their all time highs
this reminds me of watching fuse back in the day. when they'd play nothing but rock. i was like 11 or 12
This video is exactly what I thought it would be when I heard the song the first time
