used to play the JPX 800 - great clubs. R11s also look nice but have not hit them yet. Recently switched to the JPX 800 pro, very similar shape but with much improved feel.
i had the slingshot 4Ds before i got my ap1s they are a really good game improvement iron easy to hit and good distance even with the high launch angle.
Any chance of seeing you hitting the following clubs on traxman and showing the results on the screen as I am looking at getting a new set of irons (stiff shafts): 1. Ping i20 2. Cobra Amp 3. Titleist AP1/2 4. Mizuno JPX 800 pros Cheers
Mark, Love your reviews on kit. Could you discuss the difference between the classic swing of greats like Snead, Hogan, Nicklaus, Bobby Jones, Mike Austin etc i.e. long hitters that never got injured vs the modern swing which appears to be injury plagued? Especially given the marginal increase in driving distance (most of those above drove the ball above 300 yards, except Mike Austin who hit a balatta ball and persimmon 515 yards).
Surely there are 2 types of player? Those that want to improve and those that just want to play. The former should stick with blades from day 1 because there is no better feedback, the rest of the clubs are for the latter. "Game Improvement Clubs" mask any swing faults that you might have, so why not just learn to swing properly in the first place?
Problem is that they are not designed for a pro like yourself. If we saw a 16 handicapper hit them then we could get better idea of forgiveness and increased distance as these are the players they are designed for.Perhaps you should test better clubs rather than game improvement ones as they wont really improve your game.Just a thought.
