Spike IS a hard-core legend. Like he mentioned, he was someone who could take a hit and capitalized on it. Def can say he is part of my childhood, ultimate underdog
Bro he was one of my favorite lower card/mid card guys ever. He was small, took crazy bumps, made his size work. Had a believable gimmick. I always thought Spike and Bubba should have had a Tag team title run when the og draft happened and they split the Dudleyz up
It's a miracle that spike is not in a wheelchair or isn't dead. He took some hard falls. Hes been put through hell and back! Love you spike! Your part of my childhood. ❤
@@ChrisVanVliet He also seems like a really humble good guy, I enjoyed hearing talk about how to effectively wrestle as a small guy by always fighting to get up
I am stunned that after watching this guy get bashed with trash cans, slammed onto tables, cut with barbed wire, crushed by 300 pound elephants off the top rope ,etc., while in the ECW, that he's still able to move, much less carry on an in-depth conversation. Thanks for entertaining us over the years, Spike.
I love this you can tell spike really enjoyed reminiscing with somebody who cares, and love how you just let him talk it's like an old friend telling old war stories
So glad to see Spike is doing well. He took some ridiculous bumps for our entertainment. To hear him talk about it and say "Oh, it was nothing" is a relief.
Not only sold bumps. Guy just got dumped on his back and head with reckless abandon by some guys. It's amazing he continued on in some of those matches. A well deserved retirement.
Spike man! He was always freaking nuts! Even as a kid I knew this guy was something special. It's awesome to run across this video and seeing how well hes doing.
I love Spike so much, I still remember that interview clip of him getting stitched up backstage in ECW and being asked what he did before wrestling.... and he said he was into Shakespeare and with blood running down his face he delivered a few lines..... Classic and what a warrior!
@Lynchology101 Yep. I was maybe 12 when it came out and the Monday Night Wars were at their peak. I somehow convinced my mom to drive me to a theater an hour away to see it and she watched it with me. I still don't think she understands wtf she watched haha
Honestly glad to see Spike! He was the ultimate underdog that you couldn't help but cheer for. I still remember watching a tape of Bam Bam throwing Spike into the front row of fans, or the flaming table spot...
La Resistance botching their table spot with him still gives me the heebie-jeebies....shit looks so fucking painful. Dude is tough as fuck that's for sure.
This guy is such an amazing interviewer. He knows exactly when to intervene and ask questions. He actually listens and follows up with great questions. He lets the wrestlers talk. Even the wrestlers I wasn't or not really a fan of that he interviews are incredible to listen to. That doesn't include Spike I was def a fan of his during his ECW and WWE run
Spike is underappreciated. I think this interview should've been 2 hours haha. Great content Chris! glad Spike is doing well Hopefully year or 2 we can get another interview from him.
Look at the way Spike looks in 2020. He looks just like an average middle age man. Meanwhile he has all this pro wrestling history behind him and took so many nasty bumps. Now think about how many inspiring people you walk by in your everyday life thinking how booring people are meanwhile you are walking past people with so much history behind them.
Rondo Machete I think they will eventually put the whole Dudley family in as one again. (Spike/D-Von/Bubba/Sign Guy/Big dick Dudley) as a faction. Meaning the Dudley’s boys are in there twice
I totally agree with Spike when he says that today's wrestling is TOO choreographed and therefore has lost its on the fly, improvisation kayfabe charm....It was the kind of spots and bumps that Spike, and everybody else too, used to do that fascinated me so much and it made Attitude era so great, cause they were done with kayfabe and in a believable manner, i.e. nobody saw those spots coming!!
the both of you gotta remember that whole "on the fly" thing is why so many wrestlers got hurt a lot and in rare occasions some have died and the reason it looks "too choreographed" is because people rehearse the spots before the match to avoid someone getting a severe injury look how many people who got retired from a simple piledriver and even now yes people get injured but it's drastically less often as for the whole Kayfabe speech that shit died years ago and Vince Mcmahon was the one who completely killed it because of the infamous Curtain Call incident the only one as far as i know trying to revive it is Tony Khan but the issue with him trying to bring that to life again is the internet knowing who all the guys are friends with so attempting to keep kayfabe alive is pointless

Such a great interview! Spike Dudley is the best! I have to agree and look up to the dude saying his wife told him he’s better than this” I feel the same way about my life. My bm saved me too. Beautiful two kids & a beautiful lady it definitely is time to change and make something happened. Thanks Chris for this Spike Interview
Oh My God. Just saw this pop up on my list to watch this morning and have never been more jazzed to watch one of your videos. I was a massive fan of Spike's. Great move to get him on here.
Great interview! Been waiting for this one!
Interesting watch, it's nice to see Spike is doing fine for himself. Thank you for these interviews, Chris!
Chris, you are such a naturally gifted conversationalist with a very inviting cadence. I sensed some sort of reluctance in Spike to be doing the interview when it began, but it wasn't long before your authentic demeanor allowed Spike to really dial into a respectful conversation. You talked to him like Matt, not Spike. Well done.
Chris van Beard got Spike Dudley....thank you CVB! Those bumps he took were god damned gnarly, would I want to watch spike wrestle today? Not really, because he’s earned every bit of retirement...loved his work but this is the update I want to see from him, glad to see good old Spike doing his career and being happy.
I Agreed Spike Dudley Should Be At The WWE Hall Of Fame 2021
I don’t even recognize that’s Spike Dudley. Lol
I thought he was dead 😂
@@Dieg0Marteen smh
He isn’t flying across the ring
@@Dieg0Marteen I thought u was dead looser
The dark Armageddon Roswell good one👍🏽
Spike Dudley is a BEAST! Shaking off those bumps that would kill normal humans like "It was nothing. I was fine."
