Hello Mr. Fix-It, just want to thank you for posting this tutorial. Being a petite woman, I was, at first, intimidated at the task but your instructions are clear and easy to follow. I am so happy I got my fridge working again. My sincere appreciation to you sir. It feels nice to know I can tackle this problem when it happens again.

I have the same refrigerator. After a few months of use it began making a ticking noise. When I opened the fridge it would stop. I looked at the back of the fridge and thought there is no way to investigate this. Then I asked google and it lead me to your video. I watched it and thought "well that's it!"... and it looked easy enough to do. I opened it up and sure enough there was ice building up around the fan and a large chunk on the coils. I melted all the ice with a hairdryer and put it back together. When I plugged it back in the sound was gone!!!! All in all about 30 minutes of work. Thanks so much for taking the time to make and post this awesome and educational video. I have posted some of my own how to videos and know how much time it takes to create and post these. Your efforts are much appreciated! UA-cam is an awesome place to share knowledge!

VERY helpful. I did that to the bottom freezer, but not the fridge above it. That's the exact clicking noise I have. I feel better now. Thanks for taking the time on this video.

Mr Fix-It-Family, you nailed it to the tee. I had the same fridge serviced 3x's under warranty and while they kinda fixed it, it still collects ice down by the crisper. Unfortunately this has become a yearly ritual with us too. Thanks for your insight, great video. FYI this will be our LAST Kenmore product we purchase.

I know this video was posted a few years ago, but it definitely helped me. Have same problem with mine and waiting 2 weeks for a Sears service call is just not practical. Affirmation of why depend on others when you can do it yourself! Mahalo for the video!

Thanks for the tip Helped me fix my LG LFXS30766D unit where there was a fan hitting something noise so I did the recommended removal of the panel to defrost the ice. Here is a little tip you don’t need to disconnect the panel just move it over to the right side of the frig and when using the hair dryer to remove or melt the ice just heat the ice at the fins and lift the ice off that way you don’t have to melt all the ice, same thing with the ice on the copper coil just melt the ice around the coil and fin area on the left side of the radiator and lift the ice off and you are done.

Great video, thank you. Remember to re-connect the wire when you put the back on the refrigerator after defrosting the coil, not shown here.

Where do I find your video regarding the faulty sensor replacement regarding the ice build up that the fan hits? Great first video...I am about to do the same to mine. Thank you

Having the same problem, I will never get kenmore again. How long will it take for the ice to melt on its own. I am to afraid to try taking it apart. How do u replace the sensor you are talking about

I think I'm having this same problem. The sound is definitely coming from low in the refrigerator. I found I can switch off the ice maker and stop the noise. This is just a temporary solution until I can open up the back as shown. Does this make sense? Does the fan turn-off at the ice maker switch?

Wait, one has to do this at least once a year? that is some serious maintenance! seem like a serious design flaw.

What if we switch off the refrigerator for 24 hrs to allow the ice to melt instead of dismantling

This isn’t a permanent fix and there has to be a problem with the auto defrost
