I watched this video about 2 years ago on my phone sitting in my bed and dreaming about buying a camera to be able to work as a camera man or a videographer, I had no camera, no laptop, nothing but my phone back then with few dollars in my pocket while I was working alone as a salesperson in a mall far away from my homeland. I was inspired by creative and professional people like you, then now I'm working by my own with my own cameras and equipment and I'm going forward in this, I'm spending all the money I'm earning since that time on my equipment. my near future is gonna be bright. THANKS A LOT
Was here at the start of Full Time Filmmaker. I knew it was going to be an easy investment. And I was not wrong. They've added over 1500 different tutorials since I bought the opening sale. Got to work with Parker and truly kicked off my passion and career in video making. Although I'm mostly in editing now. It still is so nice to have all this experience in case you need it. EASY VALUE. I promise.
Great stuff as usual. I'd add one thing I learned after my first 10 interviews or so, the importance of makeup/hair and shirt cleanup. Take the extra 5 or 10 minutes to have the talent brush their hair if it's frizzy or apply some translucent powder if their face is shiny. The hair fix is especially important if you have a prominent backlight. These steps will save some pain in the editing room if that's when you realize the talent had dandruff on their shoulder or sweat on their upper lip. This also highlights the need for good 7" monitor or larger to be able to see these pesky details.
This tutorial is simply perfect. so many tips in just one video. I also realized just how much work goes into a "simple" interview. I initially imagined it just one light, a mic and good camera. Boy was i wrong.

I'm glad I found these videos, although wish I had found them 2 weeks ago. I'm in film School at Full Sail and we are working on a Mini doc now and I have already gotten my interviews done working on B-roll now. But I have learned more from the few videos I have watched than my classes, it's basically same information but these guys make it more enjoyable and easier to understand.

Very thorough! People are usually SO SURPRISED when I show up with all my equipment .... HA! Yeah, it's a pain, but worth it. I thought the acoustic panels were a bit overkill, but I also wasn't listening on headphones. Plus, I always use lapel mics, and there's usually less "echo" with them. But overall, very thorough.

Great tutorial Parker, and I've been doing this for a long time. One tip I picked up a while back for one-man-band setups is to bring a hair-cutting dummy head and use that as your stand in for rough lighting before talent sits in. I find this gets me 85% of the way, and is a real boon when framing your shot. You just need to set that dummy head's height to the approximate height of your talent and move things around her. Mine is named Eileen, because...um...she can't stand on her own.
Since i started watching your channel sir, i have grown and improved immensely in video and film production, i am self taught i love it with all of my heart...God richly bless you sir.
Parker renovates the whole house with all his Equipment for the perfect shot. I am happy when the person is in focus :D Shot a 2Person interview and one of them was out of focus - shiyat... The other "problem" was that one person felt very uncomfortable in front of all the lamps. Very good explenations. Keep it up ;)

Don’t forget if the person your interviewing is wearing glasses that key light placement like that will more than likely have some heavy reflections. You’ll have to play with the height and angle of the light to avoid that.
First off, PRAISE YOU for speaking about audio. So many tutorial videos gloss over audio. Also, thank you for talking about treating the space with acoustic damping. A great way to add neg and dampen simultaneously (as well as ditch the hassle of transporting V-flats) is to use sound blankets: best of both worlds.

Having filmed interviews for 7 years now, I always love seeing Parker’s process. It reassures me that the things I’m already doing are working, and it allows me to pick up new things that I never would have thought of otherwise.
This was a really GREAT Teaching tool and it was a beautiful story at the end... reminds me of how the people in my church and community come together. I embarked on learning video so I too can tell these amazing stories.

That is a ton of material to be able to have on hand, sound foam and giant black panels, my assumption is that where the video is shot, is in the studio because you would need a full on moving van to carry all of that to locations 😮
