How to Make Mission-Style Tacos with Tony Trujillo

  • Why take a trip to your local Mexican joint when you can have one on your patio? Watch Tony Trujillo-a pro skater and member of the band Bad Shit-make simple and fast Mission-style tacos for his family in their San Francisco backyard. Trujillo soups up his gas grill by rigging it to a shopping cart, creating a mobile taquería in the process. Add carne asada, some onions and herbs, and a six-year-old skater who recently learned how to use the word "bro," and you've got a memorable meal in the making.

      Had to re watch video been a while. My comment meant I like all Hispanics not just Mexicans. Also at the time I thought tacos were eaten by most Hispanics but It's actually a Mexican dish. Most my Hispanic friends always liked tacos so that is the explanation for my thinking.

    The funny thing here is that even that guy made a decent and pretty much real taco than the ones made by "professional chefs", yes, even if he used cans because oh my, we mexicans use can/bottle salsas for our tacos too. The marinated meat is a mix of 3 chiles, vinegar and orange/pinapple juice.

  • @GabrielPerez-so3gr
    @GabrielPerez-so3gr 9 років тому +3

    The marinate that was used in the meat, is usually used in México for the "pastor" tacos (those are really similar to the libanese kebababs) and is made of different dry peppers, moisturized and blended with garlic onion and salt

    met him at xgames 9 or 10 when I was just some little kid from Canada working for a radio station getting one liners. I remember being nervous as fuck that day and he was the first pro I ran into as he was walking out of the staples center. The nicest by far out of any of em I talked to, signed my deck got a pic and read out the one liner like a champ. You made my day that day Tony, Thanks!

      He does not know how to cook he just knows how to assemble store bought items that is why. We are artisans subbed to a cooking channel producing great quality videos on how to make food with original material. Since this is a cooking channel, its about the food not the family dynamic or who he is.

    • @minutes2midnite
      @minutes2midnite 9 років тому +7

      Dan Garcia i agree with you but to his credit i don't think the point was for him to teach us much. he even says its supposed to be fast and easy and cheap. what i got from the video is that you don't need to have an elaborate recipe or go anywhere fancy for good food and that sometimes chillin with the fam at home is the way to go.. not that tacos are elaborate or hard to make i guess though haha

      Sorry if my response to your comment wasn't what you expected, but this is a youtube comment section and that tends to happen sometimes to us all. It wasn't posed to troll or be a negative random person, it was because I am failing to understand the point to a comment like yours really.
      I am still failing to see anything creative here besides his apparently homemade grill/cart which wasn't even the topic of the video. Did the food look tasty? Yes. That wasn't what I asked you though. If you didn't want to expand on why you think this is creative then that is fine, can just say so.

    • @nickpittroff7139

      Or there should be a channel of skateboarding legends who've built a career off of Vans shoes, who drank, fucked, drugged, and traveled to more countries in the past 10 years than you ever will get to in your miserable life. Oh and they like tacos. Waitttt a second....I think thats Tony T. Do some you tubing and googling fucktard. (See, thats a reference to an Anti Hero video called Fucktards. The board company that makes him more successful than you). EPIC FAIL. Try again.

      Nick Pittroff I see shit like this all the time on internet comments sections. People are always defending famous people on the basis that they're successful. Nobody was debating whether or not Tony Trujillo was a good skater, but it sure as shit doesn't make him a fucking expert on cooking. People act like being good at one thing makes you an irreproachable human being. Jesus fuck.

      Josh Valero Well you're entitled to you opinion so i won't argue with you. But i certainly believe he did a fine job, i've had mission style tacos before, there's a great mexican restaurant near me and they make theirs pretty similar, just different toppings and veggies. But still, really not that different. I think he just lives a different life you may not understand, still seems like a good guy though, i don't see how you could say otherwise.

    That's "carne adobada" not "carne asada". They marinate it with a special secret mixture of spices and sauces. If have ever gone to eat tacos in Mexico it's the meat the have in a kebab style grill. In fact, if you want to open your own taco stand and want to sell tacos of "carne adobada" you have to pay someone for the recipe, I once heard that they charged up to $1,000 bucks just for it, worth the investment tho.
