How to Make Mission-Style Tacos with Tony Trujillo
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- Why take a trip to your local Mexican joint when you can have one on your patio? Watch Tony Trujillo-a pro skater and member of the band Bad Shit-make simple and fast Mission-style tacos for his family in their San Francisco backyard. Trujillo soups up his gas grill by rigging it to a shopping cart, creating a mobile taquería in the process. Add carne asada, some onions and herbs, and a six-year-old skater who recently learned how to use the word "bro," and you've got a memorable meal in the making.

It's Tony Trujillo!!! Do any of you mooks know anything about skateboarding?!?!? He's a true legend!
"you sound like a little girl"
"thank you"
aw.
nice tacos btw
qwertylee his son is adorable lol
That’s hood that the kid sees no problem been a girl as been a boy too.
Ktube you know been a homophobic person ain’t cool dude
I use to idolize this guy in the early millennium, around 2003-2005. He was such a rockstar back then. I still love him for sure. I can't wait to see his new VANS video part.
lmao he said "ask your local mexican" but I love Hispanics they're awesome
Diego B. I know I have a lot of friends from different Hispanic countries like Peru, Mexico,Guatemala, and Puerto Rico.
Had to re watch video been a while. My comment meant I like all Hispanics not just Mexicans. Also at the time I thought tacos were eaten by most Hispanics but It's actually a Mexican dish. Most my Hispanic friends always liked tacos so that is the explanation for my thinking.
The funny thing here is that even that guy made a decent and pretty much real taco than the ones made by "professional chefs", yes, even if he used cans because oh my, we mexicans use can/bottle salsas for our tacos too. The marinated meat is a mix of 3 chiles, vinegar and orange/pinapple juice.
The marinate that was used in the meat, is usually used in México for the "pastor" tacos (those are really similar to the libanese kebababs) and is made of different dry peppers, moisturized and blended with garlic onion and salt
met him at xgames 9 or 10 when I was just some little kid from Canada working for a radio station getting one liners. I remember being nervous as fuck that day and he was the first pro I ran into as he was walking out of the staples center. The nicest by far out of any of em I talked to, signed my deck got a pic and read out the one liner like a champ. You made my day that day Tony, Thanks!
This should be called " How to assemble a taco in the backyard of a house in the Mission"
Jimmy Strudel It's piss
Jimmy Strudel actully he totally failed
your right i dont know shit. I take it you know shit? What do you do shake hands with it before you flush it?
no thanks you already said you know more about shit so im sure you already like the taste
Jimmy Strudel exactly! first step - by the meat prepared from a local Mexican. step two - cook it.
YES! Finally no more guide to portland videos!!!!
You can tell he's not used to being a presenter but kudos to him, the tacos looked amazing and he had a really interesting way of cooking them
As a Mexican, I approve!
Enjoyed it. Food looked nice and the family relaxed
I made these, following Tony's recipe. They are delicious. Remember, food doesn't have to be "fancy" to be good.
nice people.
His In Bloom part was the shit! Good dude
c_w_m personally I think the evan hernandez part was better, but nice to see that people here know who TnT is!!
Yes I was bound to find some skateboarders
What a cool video, nice family. Tacos look awesome.
wtf their family dynamic is really cool. why all the dislikes??
He does not know how to cook he just knows how to assemble store bought items that is why. We are artisans subbed to a cooking channel producing great quality videos on how to make food with original material. Since this is a cooking channel, its about the food not the family dynamic or who he is.
yahowa I think the dislike votes are solely based on how he chopped that onion :p
It's cute you titled yourself an 'artisan'. Pull your head out of your ass, nobody wants to eat your shitty food.
I think this was more about keeping it simple, and not overcomplicating something people usually do wrong.
Nothing like quick homemade tacos!!
yay these are my all time favorite tacos, and the idk ask your local mexican joke was pretty funny
People didn't like it because they didn't even do anything. Pre marinated meat and anything you can buy at the store and store bought salsa. He didn't teach us shit.
Dan Garcia Maybe he tought you that it doesn't always have to be complicated and hard to be good :)
smyggandefisen it's called mission style tacos. These are just regular tacos tf
Yo, I'm Mexican and I NEVER buy the pre marinated meat because most of it is really old and they just want to sell it quick before it starts smelling even worse.
Dan Garcia i agree with you but to his credit i don't think the point was for him to teach us much. he even says its supposed to be fast and easy and cheap. what i got from the video is that you don't need to have an elaborate recipe or go anywhere fancy for good food and that sometimes chillin with the fam at home is the way to go.. not that tacos are elaborate or hard to make i guess though haha
thats really how easy it is to make tacos tho! loll
The only reason why I see people disliking this video is because it doesn't seem like a cooking video more than a talk show...Viewers want to see the marinade being assembled and actually talk about food.
Fun to see how creative people cook!! :-D
One Kitchen - A Thousand Ideas Lol creative as in umeployed?
101yayo When the money are small you have to be creative ;-)
One Kitchen - A Thousand Ideas How, exactly, was this creative? It was a typical store bought and heated meal... No creativity needed.
Ash Windtalker arh come on :-) Why waste your time here...make your own comment if you want to be negative! I'm just being positive here!
One Kitchen - A Thousand Ideas
Sorry if my response to your comment wasn't what you expected, but this is a youtube comment section and that tends to happen sometimes to us all. It wasn't posed to troll or be a negative random person, it was because I am failing to understand the point to a comment like yours really.
I am still failing to see anything creative here besides his apparently homemade grill/cart which wasn't even the topic of the video. Did the food look tasty? Yes. That wasn't what I asked you though. If you didn't want to expand on why you think this is creative then that is fine, can just say so.
"idk ask your local mexican" hahahahahahaha
TRUJILLO THE LEGEND, IN BLOOM PART FOREVER
ALL HAIL CARDIEL
"What's it marinated in?"
"I don't know. Ask your local Mexican."
LMAO
Trujillo is a legend!!!
This guy can do anything.
"Ask your local Mexican" I'm dying of laughter!
i wana see more of waylon - kid's hilarious hahaha
I was just gonna say ...put them on the grill. Looks great love it !! I live in Arizona when its summer and its hot and just swimming and partying by the pool. This is our favorite meal 😀😎
Tony is the man, His Vans part was gnarly.
You went to the Mission district in San Francisco with a million taqueria's and you film this guy....okay Munchies. Great logic.
Baby Jesus! Watch your fingers when choppin that onion. Fuck bro..... "whats in that marinade?" "IDK, ask ur local mexican." Very informative.
ALL HAIL CARDIEL.
Tony Trujillo knows his tacos 💯
You knock it out with the board, the bass and the taco!!!
What an awesome idea. Here in South Africa the poor use trolleys to collect paper and cardboard and to sleep in. This could be a good business
Awesome Family Rock on My Amigo 🤘🏻😎 Bomb ass tacos btw.
the guy assembles tacos like he's rolling a blunt those finger movements are a dead giveaway
this was really good. !
He did a pretty good job with the tacos, but honestly the best street tacos are in TJ. That's why I love living in San Diego, lol
tacos are sublime.... carnitas/al pastor/carne asada/pescado
Omg Waylen, is so adorable!!!
As a Mexican, I a prove this message and video.
***** how?? thats the basic structure for any taco. tortilla, meat, onion, cilantro, salsa its pretty hard to fuck it up lmao
Literally no point in reading the comments in any VICE related video anymore because it's a total cesspool.
That kid is absolutely adorable
I am not saying civilians shouldn't be featured on Munchies, but professional cooks and chefs almost always make for better videos.
thePowerPlant "Civilians"
You ever cook in a professional kitchen? You'd know. Haha~~!
this guy's chill as fuck
There should be a channel that's all about good cooks who kinda dabble with skateboarding. They'd occasionally pop an ollie without falling flat on their face.
Wait, nevermind, that would be a total waste of time. Like this video.
Or there should be a channel of skateboarding legends who've built a career off of Vans shoes, who drank, fucked, drugged, and traveled to more countries in the past 10 years than you ever will get to in your miserable life. Oh and they like tacos. Waitttt a second....I think thats Tony T. Do some you tubing and googling fucktard. (See, thats a reference to an Anti Hero video called Fucktards. The board company that makes him more successful than you). EPIC FAIL. Try again.
get rekt
Nick Pittroff I know Tony T. I just don't worship him for his cooking. I guess some people would get excited about watching him take a shit, because he's built a career out of shoes.
Nick Pittroff I see shit like this all the time on internet comments sections. People are always defending famous people on the basis that they're successful. Nobody was debating whether or not Tony Trujillo was a good skater, but it sure as shit doesn't make him a fucking expert on cooking. People act like being good at one thing makes you an irreproachable human being. Jesus fuck.
haha wish i had a shopping cart bbq. cute family
This dude is Radical
Wow. I haven't seen you in years. and you pop up in a Munchies video. dope lol
fuck is up with all these dislikes? I liked the video, people hating on it cause he got the meat pre-seasoned. I mean if i knew of a mexican store where they have really good pre-seasoned meats i would buy that shit all the time. Some fucking haters on munchies/vice, people need to lighten the fuck up once in a while.
Josh Valero Meat wasn't overcooked and it was authentic as it can be... you're just a salty dumbass who can't think for himself
Josh Valero Well you're entitled to you opinion so i won't argue with you. But i certainly believe he did a fine job, i've had mission style tacos before, there's a great mexican restaurant near me and they make theirs pretty similar, just different toppings and veggies. But still, really not that different. I think he just lives a different life you may not understand, still seems like a good guy though, i don't see how you could say otherwise.
Can we get more videos of San Francisco/Bay Area? A good chunk of this channel is LA lolz.
That description under the video = perfection xD
gotta get me one of those shopping carts AND a backyard like that 👌
Its Tony fucking Trujillo, i watched this cause the dude is a fucking genius on a skateboard, fuck a taco anything with Tony it is rad as fuck
Munchies must be in debt 😂
too much hate for TT, this guy is a skateboarding legend.. absolute shredder
MORE VIDEOS WITH TONY T!!!!!
looks jum, cool episode
So awesome how his son said 'Thank you' in response to being called 'a little girl'. Damn straight that's a compliment!
dude seems chill. is definitely not a try hard
more vids with pro skaters! bring back andy roy!
This should be renamed : how to bust a taco mission lol... it was pretty dope
Diggin the mini antihero shirt
well if any of these "haters" knew who Tony Trujillo is, they would respect his tacos a lil more.
He's fucking living the life
Lol wut. He has a really hot wife, but that's about the only thing I'm truly jealous of. He's not wealthy by any means.
kids happy, wife's happy, he's happy (at least they are in this vid)... thats whats up my dude!
Motherfucking TNT... making tacos?!?!? Munchies, you have outdone yourself again.
Chalk > Tacos De Mission by Tony
The stench of hipsters in the comment section is quite aromatic. **Breathes in real deep** ... Ah yes, the smell of cargo pants and fedoras, excruciating indeed.
I liked this. Cool guy, awkward video. Thumbs up.
Are you related to Robert? Awesome recipe!!!
I hung out with him once at a skate park in TX. super cool guy.
this dude eats good food
A lot of these are loosely based on cooking as its also is a character profile. It still retains the food theme but people love to watch Vice to hate.
"Ask your local mexican"- Tony Trujillo
Sick ass video!
Me: this guy seems pretty genuine, how cool
Also me: what the fuck why would you cook like this??
That's "carne adobada" not "carne asada". They marinate it with a special secret mixture of spices and sauces. If have ever gone to eat tacos in Mexico it's the meat the have in a kebab style grill. In fact, if you want to open your own taco stand and want to sell tacos of "carne adobada" you have to pay someone for the recipe, I once heard that they charged up to $1,000 bucks just for it, worth the investment tho.
You know they raised the son right when he replies thank you to his dad saying he sounds like a girl.
Kid seems cool, they're look pretty authentic actually besides the salsa
TNT!!!! get some
Mission style is a tortilla company and theres a recipe included on the back that you can follow to make mission style tacos
The guy didn't fuck up the tacos, bottom line.
yeah bro
people need to chill with that dislike button. This wasnt meant to be like a huge fuckin deal like with oregon videos or the sweden videos.
So what if you don't live in the Mission and don't have a Mexican market nearby ? How would you make carne asada?
Good good footy
Do they just ask random people to make something? Some of these people don’t even know what a commercial kitchen looks like
I bet that the people dissing havent really tried a real taco
Having lived in Los Angeles my whole life, yes, I have. This video is weaksauce.
The way he was cutting with his fingers is killing me.
I'm starting to wonder if Munchies viewers understand that it's operated by Vice Magazine. Even a better question ... " Do they even know what Vice Magazine is?"
I assure you, it's pages are not filled with amazing recipes and reviews of restaurants with Michelin Stars. Go check out the Food Network and leave people living how they want alone...
all hail Cardiel
Yeah that's pretty cool, but I wanna see him do a kickflip with that trolley.
i liked this, it's just not so much a how to video as it is a this is kinda cute video.
I bet the chalk tastes good.
YUMMY :)
"I dunno ask your local Mexican"
