Man Polar Express is the best movie in the world in my opinion I alway get heartfelt or cry when I hear the final piece of dialogue “though I’ve grown old, the bell still rings for me. As it does for all who truly, believe…” Also Chris I thought you would have gotten the red Berk set I wanna get the engine alone to pull Christmas freight trains super stoked!!!
I can remember visiting my cousins in Shelbyville, Indiana and waiting and train spotting by Shelbyville Freight Terminal for a train hauled by a Big Boy from Hershey arrived.
I just bought my first legacy! You and eric trains really got me into this hobby, and I’m proud to announce I bought the Polar express 20th anniversary legacy! I’ll hopefully have some cars soon with it too. Only issue I have now Is I usually use a wall wart and bluetooth or universal remote for my things because I don’t have room for a full layout. Just a bunch of track that I lay around the house for a week or so at a time and then put away for a week or three lol. I don’t understand how legacy control systems work fully so I need some help, and I don’t know where to get one :( I’m upset because my favorite voice lines on the polar express won’t play with bluetooth, such as the nerd kid, or a few small other lines. Don’t know if they just didn’t come with the 20th anniversary, or if I’m missing out because of bluetooth. I’m really happy with the locomotive thought! It’s way more beautiful than I thought it could ever be!
Hi Chris Always a good start to the day when I see you have posted a new video, really enjoyed it and thank you. Looking forward to the next one. Happy Holidays to you and your family. All the very best. Keith (Southampton UK)
Thanks for highlighting the Dreffys Hudson as a fav of yours, Chris. It's one-of-kind design is always a winner. Berkshire loco is always iconic. That custom RBP Katy is also a winner. The whistles on the Berks are really fantastic. It takes me back many years, when steam was the only sound one would hear. I actually resented the diesel takeover when I was still a child!
I agree with these picks and they look great running around your layout. I have a few friends of mine who are on the edge of their seats looking for the scale Polar Express cars to come in and I can't wait to see some videos of them in action when they do!
I've purchased your switcher and caboose last week, but they will not be here on time to get them on the Mexico City layout for your video! Great video as always.
Great Video!!! I love the Nickel Plate Road 765. It's my favorite steam locomotive of all time!!! One question, when are you going to make the announcement of the rbp and friends video?
That Katy engine and caboose is gorgeous! I stopped dealing with Trainland a few years ago but I am going to see if they have that combo in stock. If it runs as good as the Eric’s trains switcher I will be happy. I am a fan of both your channels and I look forward to your videos
Thank you! I have enjoyed working with the Trainland/Trainworld Team on this project. The good news is that both of our switchers (Eric's and mine) have the same drivetrain and Legacy Technology so they are grr=eat runners. Thank you for watching and for your support!
The Bircher is an amazing locomotive, but I’m English and living in England. For me, my favourite locomotive is the Oliver Bulleid Light Pacific from the English Southern Railway.
Yet again, I watch these beautiful models roll by, and I am so envious of you guys in North America as you have all the best model railway systems and full size operations. Do not mention the Polar Express Set, I have tried to get one here in the UK, but failed every time. Great video and Merry Christmas to you all.
10:50 I would have picked 765 if you did a whistle battle because 765 is my favorite steam engine!!! Infact, I pre-ordered my Lionel 765 a week prior to my trip to the Daytona 500, hopefully I'll get it soon
On the one hand, I feel bad watching this before my son gets to. On the other hand, it just means I get to watch it twice! Or knowing him... more than that. Honestly if you hadn't made the RBP SW8, we would've ordered the C&NW version they offered! Was happy to see Lionel give a little love to the Green and Yellow. And we're with ya on the crewtalk. Thankful Mr Lionel didn't curse your 222 switcher! 😅
I may have some to sell. I have to look through my list and I am not knowledgeable in this. I traded work for a ladies passed husband's collection. Are they the big size? I have quite a few still in the box if interested. I have been writing the numbers and names from the boxes

I have the basic Polar Express set and I like it, BUT, your scale Polar Express set is just beautiful. It is so far out of my train budget I can barely see it in the catalog. It is on my wish list. I like the red scale version but it would not be enough. I would have to have 3 or 4 of the matching passenger cars, too. Great video as always. I am now looking forward to your next videos to close out the year. I hope you have a happy safe Thenksgiving!
I'm thrilled that Lionel is doing a 20th Anniversary of the Polar Express. When I received my track order from Trainworld at the beginning of this year, they included the 2024 Big Book. When I spotted the Legacy set in the Christmas section, I knew I had to get it. I ordered that, along with five add-on cars. Christmas Is my favorite holiday, and The Polar Express is my favorite movie. Hey RBP, if you’re reading this I wanna say I love watching your videos. The way you present them is fantastic. I've also checked out your friend’s ChrisTrainsAndThings does a great job but I think your videos are slightly better. Great video and have a Nice Christmas!
Enjoy your new set! It is a good one. I appreciate your support and I know ChrisTrainsAndThings does as well! We talk all the time and enjoy being able to make these train videos. I hope you have a great Holiday Season!
Yes Chris its officially train season wishing YOU AND YOURS HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS ENJOY YOURCVIDEOS VERY MUCH KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK YOU ARE A GREAT EMBASADOR TO OUR HOBBY ;-)
Awesome trains. I wish I could send you stuff on my trains. Erie Lackawanna Pa1 set with passenger cars and my son got a Area 51 pre remote train. Wish I had the funds for a new Polar Express or a Hogwarts.
Great video. I have the American Flyer S scale version of the Polar Express. It is a nice set, but I'm hoping Lionel will run a Legacy version of the AF PE Berkshire to "upgrade" the set. Can't believe it has been 20 years since the movie was released! I had just started my first job working at a movie theatre and was there for its opening and run. Feels like it was yesterday. The hobby has definitely come a long way since then - even N scale locomotives have sound standard now!
I can't believe it has been so long either. I remember seeing the movie and wishing that a train set would be made for it. Here we are 20 years later with all of this stuff and I really think The Polar Express is what reinvigorated the Brand for Lionel. I hope they run the AF version for ya!
i live in Fairbanks Alaska, probably 10-ish minutes away from the town of North Pole. they keep their christmas decorations up year round and its so beautiful at night this time of year to see all of the lights lit up
Welcome! Two tips: 1. Be careful when connecting Fastrack so you do not break the connectors. 2. Check for power continuity. Not really a problem with smaller loops but as you expand, you may need to solder jumper wires underneath to prevent voltage drops. Enjoy the new set!
Hi my name is ben and i only have the lionel polar express train set and some mth train cars and i haven't even started making my 8x10 train layout and starting next year in march.
My only Legacy steamer is also one of my favorites. The Legacy 2-8-0 DMIR #332 on the grounds of I’ve seen the real DMIR 332 in steam and I have it and it can run on my O-36 layout. My other favorite legacy engine, though I wish they would make a Lionmaster semi-scale version so I could run it on my O-36 layout, is the Milwaukee Road S3 4-8-4 #261.
I’m really hoping I’m able to get the HO scale model Polar Express set this Christmas. I’ve asked my family, hopefully I’ll be lucky enough to receive it.
I do love road switchers. I picked up a Lackawanna version myself. Still like the S2 a little better but that is my personal bias. Picked up two of the Legacy Berkshires, a “lucky sevens” and a Polar Express. If I could get a third, it would be that Plasma Coated version. Those scale passenger cars are hard to find, I couldn’t find a a single one at the Edison Show. I ordered a set of seven from the catalogue but who knows when they will arrive. Do you have one of the reindeer sounds car? I would like to see that run.
Hey, did you have any issues with the new Berk nickel plate losing signal? I had the PE Legacy Berk. After waiting 3 years for this engine I had to return it because in a couple of spots on my layout, the engine would lose signal. I been unfortunate with running scale die cast engines on my layout. Previously had issues with derailing but this one, lost the signal. No issues with my legacy diesels so just trying to see if anyone else had the same issue. Man i really wanted to keep that engine. 😢
Returned. My concern since it worked on like 95% of my layout that Lionel wouldn’t fix it but run it 1 time around their circle layout and say they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Then send it back to me and then I’m stuck with it because I only had 7 days to return it. I started to trade it for another PE engine at the hobby shop but didn’t want to keep bringing stuff back. Any idea why it would only do that in one spot?
Unfortunately I'd say that most likely stuck in the middle of the snow storm that has closed down most of the interstate in PENNSYLVANIA AN AROUND THE MID WEST
Great question! I will be explaining this in the next video. The scale version you see in this video is a 1:48 scale model with extra details and such. The Lionchief set is a Traditional semi-scale sized model with a bit less detail. They are both great sets and fun to run!
I'm thinking that your pick for engine of the year is a steam engine, a classic one " 20th centry limited" But I dub it the super man express based off the old super man cartoon 😊😊
You can order these from Trainworld.com. Just type “RBP” into their search bar and the caboose should pop right up. I also linked it in the video description to make it easier to find
Hi Chris I want to tell you something do you still have European engines? I’d like to see those again and to find one in Google images it was so long ago I was young. Maybe you sent me a link I want to see it again Would you could you and you may you know what I get that from green eggs and ham by Dr. Seuss
Those European engines are long gone and they were fun to run. I found it difficult to find matching passenger sets and cars for reasonable prices so I gave up. Maybe one day I will try again…Thanks for watching!
I was messing around with my O_gauge Burlington northern boxcar.....but then the truck broke 😭😭😭 but get this that boxcar is my only rallcar😭😭😭😭 and now I'm sad😭😭😭
The switcher locomotives are typically used for lighter work in rail yards and such. Unlike the bigger road locomotives, the smaller switcher engines are used to move cars around and have a lighter duty role

Pure nostalgia. I feel sad that I never got to experience a world that ran on steam.
Thankful there are restorations, excursions, and scenic lines still running steam! There's a reason there's still a lotta love out there for steam!
Great stuff mate, the polar express just hits different at christmas, lovely model and awesome video. :) - Jack, fro the UK

Hey, if you did do a whistle battle I would pick 765 as the new winner. 🏆🏆
Yeah!
@@RBPTrains hey could you do a race with polar and 765?
Hi Chris I want to tell you something do you still have European engines? I’d like to see those again and to find one in Google images it was so long ago I was young. Maybe you sent me a link I want to see it again Would you could you and you may you know what I get that from green eggs and ham by Dr. Seuss
Those European engines are long gone and they were fun to run. I found it difficult to find matching passenger sets and cars for reasonable prices so I gave up. Maybe one day I will try again…Thanks for watching!
I like them all
Me too!
I was messing around with my O_gauge Burlington northern boxcar.....but then the truck broke 😭😭😭 but get this that boxcar is my only rallcar😭😭😭😭 and now I'm sad😭😭😭

I betcha Chris you and I have the same Lionel legacy polar express but mine is Bluetooth so I don’t have a Lionel legacy controller
What do you mean by “Switcher”?
The switcher locomotives are typically used for lighter work in rail yards and such. Unlike the bigger road locomotives, the smaller switcher engines are used to move cars around and have a lighter duty role
