I have all the new machines and have to say that I will be staying with my 900 or Manticore on the bronze coins and other bronze items here in Japan as well as the beach this summer or until there is an Legend update Always look forward to your even handed test ...Thanks
Yup you don't want to hunt for anything deep in park mode on the Legend. That's not what it's for. It's too heavily filtered, even if you adjust recovery. I almost always hunt in field mode. The only time I use park mode is in gravel or black sand........anywhere I do want to filter out those weaker signals and I know nothing is seriously deep anyway. It would be great if they boosted it however! Right now it seems the triple score may actually be performing better on beach tests. Perhaps here as well?
My friend and I have been doing some testing with the legend and the triple score on his testbed, the legend had a 12 inch coil the triple had the small coil ut the triple seemed to hit more targets better than the legend. Wev both sold our legends and now use triple score machines among others we have.
You can sometimes can get a killer deal on a used Equinox 900. I got mine with both coils and headset for $780 and was able to transfer the warranty for 2 years!
Thanks for the great info! Been swinging a Nox 600 since May, 2020 but don't want to dunk it, especially with it out of warrantly. Was thinking of a Triple Score or an Elite to add variety and be able to go deeper at freshwater beaches. I'd say this test reinforces that it's probably the Elite. I'm used to the Minelab tones and quieter overall performance. Do you have a suggestion for water headphones for the Elite?
Yea, i would agree to keep that 600 out of the water. The new ones are made allot better and i have not seen reports of leaks. The only headphones i have experience with are the Grey Ghosts. They work good 👍
Thanks Mike I appreciate all of your work in testing. I was thinking about getting the Legend coming from the Vanquish 440 now I'm left scratching my head 😢
@@VaDirtfishing nope just showing them. Its a proven/capable machine and I have shown many videos of how capable it is. In this instance it does not do as good in my soil. Nokta is aware and looking into it.
I have the New Generation Nokta that I purchased in December of 2023. I've only had it out a handful of times and recently updated it to the 1.17 software. I personally feel that I got a bad machine. At full sensitivity I get almost no EMI channel if I'm inside my house or outside. I mainly hunt with my Equinox that I purchased in November of 2023. I have really got to learn machine and have found great things with it. Many people who are Nokta fans claim with this new update you will find many things you have missed. I find this not to be true for me. I have taken the the Legend to places that I have hunted hard my Equinox and really haven't found anything I missed. Also, coins that are deeper that 4" struggle to get a clear VDI and depth reading on my legend. Overall, I feel that the Equinox is the better machine of the two. 3
Appreciate these videos. Are you planning to test the Triple Score again with the update? I’m considering the Triple Score or the 700 as an upgrade from the Simplex plus. Now that the 700 is available with the extra 6” coil and a Pro-Find 40 for $750 and assuming I could sell the Pro-Find for $100, making the 700 package about $650, do you think the difference in price between the 700 vs the Triple Score is worth it?
Will the 700 hit the 10inch dime with a lower recovery speed or would park 2 and Recovery speed3 hit it as well? Thanks for doing these to make metal detecting companies put out the best they can.. Peace
I have done similar testing with the LG 28 vs the Nox 900 with 11” coil and with both detectors using their 6” coils. I get basically no depth difference using the latest software versions for both detectors and with similar settings Park 1/Park M1, all targets accepted, recovery speed 4, iron filters on their minimum settings, sensitivity 24. Legend runs quieter and has more stable target IDs in these tests.
I was thinking about getting a Legend but after this video, I'm back to either Equinox 800 or maybe the new garrett VX7 after it releases and the experts do some reviews. That Legend is just to noisy.
Thx for your reply. I’m just researching ro get my first detector. I was curious about the newer triple score, is it the same as the legend. It seems weird any detector wouldnt find gold at 2 inches especially a £500 one.
Thats pretty rough. So strange though, I have found some deep coins at 10-11 inch that are great sounding. I got a barber dime that was at that depth that sounded great just a few weeks ago. Interesting
