I've never liked the "til death do us part" segment of the marriage. The kind of love you and your husband had didn't die with him, and you never really parted with him. After almost fifty years, he's a part of you. One that's going to last forever. Everlasting Love. Like the song says.
You can look that up on utube. They will explain it to you 😳 in excruciating, unrelenting horrible detail. Don't have a loaded gun beside you . Lastly there's no going back from it. 🥺
This is one of those rare songs. The type that is legendary and can be done as a single or duet. I have heard large groups singing it. It truly stands the test of time.
I watched both the American Bandstand and Soul Train religiously growing up in the '70s. Listen to this brilliant work of pop art and all I have to say is "I rest my case."
I don't know.....David Ruffin? He brings a certain intense emotionality to it, with the deeper voice as well and the inflections. They're both fantastic of course.
@@silvas123 I absolutely LOVE me some David Ruffin, but I think his voice on his version is too emotional & raspy, and I dont think his voice works with the melody of his version. He sounds wonderful (as always) but it wasnt a good fit.
@ Verlincia Jones --> That’s correct, July 15, 2019 Carl Carlton was hospitalized in Detroit after reportedly suffering a stroke. The stroke caused the 66 year old Carlton to miss a planned concert in Detroit the night before. Fortunately, he is reportedly alert and speaking. All the best, Carl!

One of the first songs I used to listen to in Mexico when I was 10 years old.. ( 1977) didn't understood the lyrics of it, but I liked Carl's voice, chorus, and music 🐱
I remember hearing this song for the first time in the spring of 1977, on the brand-new stereo system my parents had bought in March of that year. The song was one of several disco tunes that was part of a 'disco hits' collection LP. Great song, one I've not forgotten, and an interesting mix of pop, rock and disco. It makes me pine a little bit for the distant past.
Am I the only one who thought Stevie Wonder was the singer of this song, growing up? I was shocked when I found out it was Carl Carlton. He hits those highs so smoothly just like Stevie 👍 Great Great Song...
You’re definitely not alone. I thought it was Stevie Wonder even though they kept saying Carl Carlton’s name on the radio. For years I wondered if it was Stevie Wonder recording under a pseudonym.
This song is just great. Its a great get up and go song. Is also a great love song. And his performance really is the standard by which we judge all of its performances. And most importantly itso good that you can listen to it, Over and Over and Over and Never get tired of it. Never.
Bellissima canzone in tutte le versioni dei vari artisti che l'hanno cantata. Un sound e un ritmo che non ti possono lasciare fermo ma ti fanno ballare
Just watched the movie Forces of Nature. The U2 version of this song came on… It has been decades since I listened to this version. Just looked up and listened to Love Affairs version sung by Steve Ellis. I love it ! I was 10 years old in 1968. The first time I heard this version I was 16 in 1974. Loved dancing to this song. Great memories.
Would love to know when this appearance took place on Soul Train. This is magical. It's like hopping in a blue Police Public Call Box and arriving in Soul Train studio in '74. We even get to see the late, great Don Cornelius in his prime. I'm white, only occasionally saw Soul Train, but learned to appreciate black American artists and culture through excellent shows like this. Amazing!
I have watched and listened to this wonderful video since I discovered it online. It brings such happy memories! 😊 My very best for Carl's health recovery.
