My mother played this song every single day when she came home from work back in the 70's. Not once, but back to back several times. I was about 6 years old at the time. She played this song so much, I know every word to the song, I sing it perfectly, and when I hear this song playing today, it immediately take me back to those moments as a child sitting under my mother as she play this song. WOW! I miss her so much. Rest In Peace my dear mother. **Tears**

I was born in 1961 in the GDR (East Germany) and was able to listen to the West Berlin radio station RIAS Berlin in the 70s..
“Mrs. Jones” was also on the hit parade, which I still really like to this day.
In addition to the great music of our own country, there were so many pieces of music added - it's overwhelming: in addition to the well-known ones that are constantly in our ears, there are also such gems as Mylène Farmer, Joe Bonamassa, Leonid & Friends, Lexington Lab Band... .

I used to think that the reason why so many musicians lip-synched on TV shows in that era was because they didn’t want to risk potentially sounding bad on national TV, but I recently read that what really happened was that shows like “Soul Train”, “American Bandstand”, etc, started forcing musicians to lip-synch cuz bands like War were going on shows and playing extra long versions of their hit songs, and it was messing with the shows’ commercials.

Love this song. My dad used to kill this song at karaoke. When I say that I mean everyone would literally be cheering, and no one wanted to sing after him because it was perfection. When he says “it’s time for us to be leaving” and “it hurts so much” it just brings me to tears everytime. He passed away last year but I’ll always think of him when this song plays.

R.I.P. Billy Paul! I remember when this song came out! It was 1972. I
      was in kindergarten,
President Richard Nixon ordered the development of a space shuttle program.
It was Super Bowl VI: The Dallas Cowboys defeated he Miami Dolphins 24-3.
And Shirley Chisholm, the first African American Congresswoman, announced her candidacy for President.
"Me and Mrs. Jones was No. 1 on the Billboard charts! Gamble and Huff are prolific songwriters and composers! - Thank You!

@@kianpa1 That was the style back then, we're talking almost 50 years ago! That suit probably cost,$1,000 too! I agree Don Cornelius could have got him a better wardrobe. But the music was dope and timeless! Infidelity songs sell records!

Im 17 and you don’t know how much emotion I have while listening to this song. Like I feel like I have time traveled back to ‘72. I love this song. The instrumentals, the vocals. I love it.

On December 16, 1972, "Me and Mrs. Jones" was number one in the United States. A very original song, masterfully sung by Billy Paul, where a married couple have an extramarital relationship which despite being aware of the sin, cannot resist.
