    Wasn’t sure if you knew this or not but the “Phillips heads” are actually JIS screws and if you use a JIS screw driver it fits in those “Phillips” better than a regular Phillips screw driver

      JIS screwdrivers are excellent for true Phillips screws as well.
      A Phillips screwdriver is actually designed to cam out under heavy torque loads.
      JIS is not.

Had to take plug out on the blower to get to the Tiny slotted mixture screw , bought a miniture screw driver set because of that , already had set of odd shaped drivers cause my kasei 1E48F uses the 'pacman' driver for a walbro clone on it , thought that engine woulda konked out long ago but weve put just over 4k miles on the 63cc powerhead installed on a bicycle and it just continues to improve in performance , at least 200hrs on it probley 300

    Can an older carburetor (i.e. Walbro carb from an 026) accept adjusting screws with a hex head or micro allen? Also, can a chainsaw be better tuned by removing the limiter caps, and do the same tuning principles apply with limiter caps removed as with the caps on?

    The Stihl part #'s for:
    the "good" slotted screwdriver - 5910 890 2305 (has long shank and a handle the same as 5910 890 2314 and 5910 890 2304)
    T8 Screwdriver - 5910 890 2310
    2mm hex - 5910 890 2306
    The small square driver you rarely use (5910 890 2304) is for the Walbro carbs like the one in your hand @ 3:54. It fits down through the limiter caps to make direct contact with the screws for a better feel while making adjustments rather than using a slotted screwdriver in the plastic cap which can be easily damaged. It's also easier to use with the caps off and the machine running instead of trying to use a slotted screwdriver that keeps slipping off the screw. Unfortunately, it does not override the limiter caps they still need to be removed to make larger adjustments.
    Most dealers won't sell carb adjusting tools or limiter cap removal tools. Not only are they listed as "DEALER USE ONLY" you can get a huge fine from the EPA and possibly have Stihl pull your dealership license.

    Being about two week away from opening my own small engine shop, and also the fact the 70-80% of the equipment around here is Stihl, I will HAVE TO get these tools, for sure. When I'm officially in business, I will contact Stihl Norway (they're headquarters are just a 40 min drive from my location) asking if I could possibly get parts and tools directly from them. That would save me a lot of headache and worries by trying to use a dealer. There are no dealers around me and the dealers here have a significant markup on the parts and tools they sell, plus the extra time waiting for them to get the package.
    Stihl -> Dealer -> Me is not as efficient and cost effective as Stihl -> Me
    Thanks for the excellent and highly important information =)

    I don’t know that is all you need. I have a plastic tub full of tools that I use to work on chainsaws. The only Stihl tool I use is the little screwdriver that comes with Stihl saws. I have all the splined screwdrivers but I keep them in my roll a way in the shop. I like to run my equipment with the limiter caps installed. They sure are making stuff tamper resistant, aren’t they?

    • @Urbicide
      @Urbicide 2 роки тому

      Mixture screws used to have springs & flat washers under the heads, which helped keep the setting from changing. A lot of newer, limiter capped mixture screws no longer have the springs to keep tension on them. They use the caps to keep the screws from vibrating out of adjustment.
