- 1967 STIHL Chainsaw Restoration | Fully Restore Chainsaw Rotten
A friend, from a far away country. Sent me a package, it's a chainsaw from his grandfather's time. It's rotten and doesn't seem to work anymore. In this restore I had to buy some used spare parts to replenish. The reward this time is a small gift, a jar of fried corn. Thank you very much heart.

Nice you painted the crank seals.
🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@@OliverDiGeronimo009It's painful am I right.? 😑
I store my chainsaws at the bottom of the ocean too.
Came out pretty good tho I must say!!
Lol good one
@@jamie66233 no doubt, it came out really good.
Definitely looks like it's been in a barn for 20 years.
Bwa ha ha
To był pewnie pierwszy i ostatni film kiedy ta piła działa 🤪
My father had one of these, if it is an 040 or similar model. He was a timber & I remember him, when I was young, complaining bitterly about the saws available to him, however, one day a salesman stopped at the wood he was in to show him a Stihl Lightning. He immediately bought one & the complaints stopped. He never used any other type of saw again. I followed my father to be a faller also & never used any saw other than a Stilhl. So good to see one coming back to life like this.
I believe you need a slightly smaller chain for that bar. I would purchase a new one with two or three fewer drive links. It appears that you tightened the tensioner as far as it would go. Also, as others have mentioned, the existing chain is very dull. You can tell this by the size of the wood shavings it is producing and the slow cut. Other than that, great gob and nice work!
First thing I thought as well. That saw should be doggin threw that wood with a sharp chain, I also noticed the draggers looked untouched so filing them down as you sharpen will make a big difference.
Probably already knows this...
The chain is stretched due to usage and obviously it needs to be replaced.
Tuyệt vời
Good job,..
You done a great job I would have never thought that old STIHL saw would run again but you did it thank you for sharing 😊
😊😊❤❤❤Aku suka sekali lihat tukang servis barang elektronis juga perkayuan lho bro
Thank bro!
@@restorationrepair6344 you can freeze the bearing
Awesome
Thank you sir 💯
I love the part when he fills it with straight gas and then puts regular 4 cycle oil in the bar chain oil lol.
Supposed to be like a 32:1 gas oil mix and then you're supposed to put bar and chain oil in the front tank lol. All that restoration just to kill it again. 😅
Also that chain was installed backwards. Cant cut if the teeth are facing the wrong way.
Chain is facing the correct direction when he is cutting, blue smoke clearly indicates the presence of 2stroke oil in the gas.
I still have Stihl like this one(model 041). My father bought it around 1970. And it still work well.
Mis respetos señor
That chain might need a file put to it...nice job on the saw
I'd tighten that chain a bit more; it looked like it was sagging at the end of the video and jittery while running.
Yes, dull and loose. Nice restoration though. Chain sharpening is just maintenance.
I don’t know what’s better. The silent focus on the task or the satisfaction of the restoration. Thank you for these videos.
Hello kita hadir nonton video👍
Wow! 💯
I have watched a ton of these videos and this one probably resonates the most. I love bringing old forgotten pieces of machinery back to life. Well done sir!

20:12 Holy cow! What's wrong with that chain? Did you cut a few concrete blocks before trying it on the log?! :-)
I thought the same thing. Teeth look brand new, but that thing doesn't cut at all.
barely cuts! chain very loose, needs tightening much more, but good job.
On backwards
Chains on the wrong way mate
Need a new chain for sure.
Oh no!
Running pretty rich!
After all that work, he tries it with a worn out chain.
I think he might have put the chain on backwards!
It happens don't be mad at him he does a good job fixing stuff
@@vanmitchellsr.5735possibly! I was thinking it might be extremely hard old wood 🤷♂️
Not worn out, just needs a sharpening
More tension is to lose and sharpening too
I recently had a 75 yo maple and 40 yo oak cut down at my house. My sister to,d the arborist we wanted to keep the wood. I have tons of wood the buck and chop. Thank you sister, I am going to be jacked by end of summer. I need to got this split by end of summer before the raccoons move in. I have a Stihl MS251cbe with an 18 inch bar. Fun starts next week after finals lol
Obroty na jałowym za niskie . I łańcuch tępy 😏😉ale pilarka fajna . 😎💪
I always have had Stihls , starting with a 1972 030, 031, 028, ms290, MS291, I use now. At 71, probably my last Stihl. Thanks for the memory:) Great job !
Thank sir'! A great memory isn't it?
I miss my 031. I have a 461, now (28 inch bar).
Pretty sure that was an 041AV, we had the 040 (without the anti-vibration handle) followed by the 041AV, the difference at the end of the day was amazing.
Had nearly all the models over the years and still got our (original) Lightning which starts and runs brilliantly
Can't beat Stihl for quality and longevity, way better than the Husqvarna of which we had 3, but they didn't stand up to the rigours of heavy, day in day out cutting.
Stihl 040/041 best Chainsaw Stihl ever made.👌👌
Good job
Thank Bro!
Damn, where has this saw been? Such dirty, unbelievable. Wow.
Jakieś nowe części Pan dokupywał opruxz prowadnicy i chyba szarpaka tak ciekawości pytam Łapa 👍 i sub zostawione super robota

cool!!
Holy shit tighten up that chain!
nice job dude sharpen that chain
superb
Thank Bro!

Ficou muito bom 👏👏
I've watched more than my share of these restoration videos and I've never seen a piece of equipment of any kind in the deplorable condition this was. You obviously did a lot of work on this saw not shown in the video and you did it well. I'm impressed with the results of your work. Very nice job!
Yes, the work required to get it to look this bad.
Restoration channels are fake lmao
Bravo pour votre travail ❤🇩🇿
looks like it was at the bottom of the ocean for that last 50 years, Great vid
Nice job. Chain still needs to be tightened a bit more, but other than that, impressive restoration.

Very cool to see a old chainsaw rebuilt …. Things have definitely changed since that time with equipment and tools we use
Runs awesome, hand sharpen a new chain before you use it works way better
Great job!
If my Stihl ran that bad and with a chain that loose, i would be ashamed.
Dangerous.
I agree that chain needed tightening and/or replacing.
Thought just the same... awesome video but the actual cutting part was a bit ehm ehm XD not sharp at all... i started also thinking that the chain was 'old' and dull on purpose, since the goal might be 'keeping some historical value' instead of cutting trees (?)
@@KeyboarderGio Sharpening the chain wouldn't make it have less historical value.
He put the chain on backwards-not to mention reusing the old bearings.
Btw, I have a bridge to sell those who believe that this is really in the U.S.
That old Dry Wood was Hard As Steel.. But Sir” you are on Another Level.. Great Job..😅
👍👍👍💖
1967 sthil chainsaws? Amazing sthil👍

There are several good brands of chainsaws out there, but I've always preferred Stihl. Great video!
I some how buy a poulan more break time.
Here in Philippines 070 is the most usable chainsaw
Impressive. Still can't believe you brought it back to life.
Perfeito 👏👏👏
Essa moto Serra e muito forte aguenta o tranco até hoje exelemte restauração top very good
Crazy the design really hasn’t changed in 60 yrs
wow , great video. by chance i have that very saw someone gave me years ago and in the same shape . i wasnt sure of the year until now and im looking forward to giving it a go. im far from the talent and experience shown here but maybe one day . thanks im sure i will be replaying this a time or two
Wow! You put a ton of work into this restoration. A word of caution though: don't run it too long. On the video we don't see you changing the connect rod bearings, just loosening them with some sort of penetrant. That engine will blow if you actually run it for any length of time. It would be a shame for it to blow a piston through the side after all your hard work. Also, I'm surprised it starts and runs as good as it seems to without honing the cylinder so the new rings seat in.
