Di from Australia. My beautiful mum (my biggest fan of my art) passed away last Christmas, she came from the UK. It has always been my wish to holiday in the UK and follow the places my mum went during the war years. History is my passion along with art. Life has not been kind for me and money has been short so I will never be able to do this. However I told my husband that IF!!! we ever won money with the Lotto that I do NOT want a fancy house or car, I just want to go on one of Paul Clark's retreats. This is a promise to me.
Ah, that's lovely - thanks and we'll keep our fingers crossed for that Lotto win!!!!
Awww..
That is really cool…but friend..please don’t try for Lotto..time will go on and you must find away to get over there now, soon…take care
Do you have retreats in the US A? I live on the west. Coast. How about Canada? I am recovering but in a few months should be raring to go.
Another mesmerizing painting, Mr C. There is another youtube artist, Andrew Pitt, who like yourself, simplifies & takes the fear out of watercolour painting. You are both super talented.
Wow, thank you
Good afternoon, dear Paul! Hope after this great tutorial you chill out in a pub you painted and thinking about the next video project for us, your followers. Have a nice day and lot of inspiration. Lilia from Moldova
Sounds great Lilia!
Beautyful, it reminds me on Edward Hopper, love it. Thank you.
Thank you too! ... I love Hopper!
Beautiful seaside pub scene and painting, Paul! Never tire of watching your amazing tutorials! You make it look effortless-and then I sit down to paint! 😩 Great learning about the UK pubs and history. Cheers! 🍺
My pleasure 😊
Another delightful Wednesday art adventure brought to me by you! And I am so appreciative! The only downside is that you arrive in early morning in my neck of the world's woods so I cannot share a glass with you...I have to be content with sipping on my morning cup of coffee while you tease us with such a variety of tipple. I especially enjoyed the deft way you handled all the detail in this lovely painting of the seaside pub. Inspiring...
Thanks so much - have a tipple later!
Thanks Paul. This really is a sweet painting. I like anything with water. Water speaks to my soul.
Thank you so much 😀
Hi Paul, we had a pub in the next village to ours called “The gate hangs well” when I was a child every time we went past I tried to read the poem underneath, it said “this gate hangs well and hinders none, refresh and pay and carry on! Sadly it is a long time closed! I live in Shropshire!
Great little story, thanks for sharing Jane!
Think this might be one of my favourites. Thank you Maybe because it’s very close to where I live! Looking forward to trying it. I should perhaps try to do it en plein air if the rain stops long enough 😂😢😉
Hope you enjoy it! Lol!
Brilliant as ever you are so talented love you and Margot you both give us so much of your time and your talents and inspiration ❤
Happy to help!
No splatter!!?? Great as always. Looking forward to trying this one!
I'll make up for it next week!!!!!
Hi Paul good evening ❤️, waiting for the tutorial from morning 😁. Really useful and beautiful tutorial and thank you for detail explanation about Pubs. Thank you very much ❤️. Can you please do a tutorial about forest scene : like distance scene with layers of mountain with forest.
Thanks so much! - have you seen this video - part 3 ua-cam.com/video/kT4HAHoBByY/v-deo.html
This was such a wonderful tutorial Paul. Apologies if I missed it, but did you use Paynes grey under the eaves of the building or your shadow mix? My greys are habitually too dark (cob blue, b.sienna or light red, rose madder).
Yup, Payne's Grey it was!
@@ArtbyPaulClark Thanks Paul.
Nice picture, since you use pastel pencil on it, do you use any fixative? How do you store the picture?
No never use fixative - either straight into a frame or in my draw!
Good afternoon ☕🍩🥧🍬dear❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋 Paul! You are tanned in the sun, you have a fresh tan.I welcome you as always on favorite channel and as always on Wednesday, which I as always look forward to. Absolutely gorgeous. Already liked and I haven’t even watched 10 minutes yet! Back to the show 👏👏
Yay! Thank you!
Magnifique. Toujours une grande joie de regarder vos vidéos. Cela m'apaise. Merci beaucoup de votre positivité. 😊😊
Merci beaucoup aussi!
I love this Paul. Proof again that having a personal connection and love for the subject matter shines through in the finished painting. Thanks for all the 'fun facts' too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's stunning! Thank you so much for this video (and for many others) full of inspiration and practical tips. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you! You too!
Just beautiful Paul! Looking forward to seeing your artistic work at La Gomera.
Fantastic - see you there!
My brother lives in Whitley Bay, just along the coast from Seaton Sluice. I loved watching you paint somewhere I know!! Great stuff!!
Thanks 👍 - yes, beautiful part of the world!
Thank you so much Paul. I love the boats. I'm from KC, Missouri but presently in the Philippines.
You are very welcome Samantha!
AWESOME painting PNC as usual. Thank you so much 🥰
Thank you so much 😀
Paul, once again another wonderful Painting. If I lived in S.E.England I would be attending your classes. It is a little too far from Melbourne. Australia to attend on a weekly basis. Sadly. :)
Many thanks! yes, a bit far to travel each week!!!!
Beautiful, Paul! Lots of techniques in this one! Thanks so much
Glad you like it!
Hi Paul, Thank you so much for an awesome video, I can't wait to paint with you. Your paintings are absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much 😀
Thought I recognised the pub, I intend to do a few paintings of my local pubs that have all closed over the last 15 years. They were the heart of the village and helped bridge the age divide. Sad really, so "support your local!".
So true - thanks for sharing!
Those paintings are gorgeous; I'd like to live inside all those paintings. Your country is so beautiful; you're so blessed.
Thank you so much Vicki!!!
Wonderful scene painted so well🙂🇨🇦
Thanks so much!
Always a pleasure to watch your tutorials, love that sparkle on water & enjoyed listening different names of pubs. Thanks a lot.
Glad you like them!
Thank you so much. I just found your channel from Jenna Rainey. I have learned so much ❤️
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for the tutorial and history and names’ story of the pubs. I want to make this beautiful watercolour for my friends who visited The UK . I would also like to as you , what if I change the colour of a foreground boat for alizarin or red ? I like the blue one but my friend has a passion for red details.
My pleasure 😊 - and yes, a red boat will work well!
Loved this, Paul! So evocative of our times spent in your beautiful country. And very similar to the seacoast here in New England. Pubs... we enjoyed many a good meal in many of your pubs, as well as tearooms! Do hope you'll find a tearoom or two to add to your paintings as well! 😉
Thank you! Cheers Diane!
I painted this pub in one of your classes, then went home and tried it again, I'm going to try a third time (portrait) and see if I've learnt anything/improved! I've had lunch at this pub and very nice it was too!
Wonderful!
I have learnt so much following your videos I thank you for your inspiration
So nice of you
Always enjoy WW….hope to visit a pub or two on our vacay in 2024! Christye, Arkansas USA
... you must!!! ... and thanks!
Back in the history of our community we also had "A Bucket of Blood" .... only in the US it was a saloon, not a pub!😊 Thank you, PNC, for your whitisism, humor and talent!
Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful painting and demo... and music too! I can almost smell the scent of iodine and the taste of beer!
Thank you so much 😀
Delightful scene and wonderful instructions!😎🎉🥰
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very beautiful, nice reflections and textures!! Thank you Paul 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great tutorial and painting. Thank you, Mr. Clark!

❤ seascapes and watching you paint are always a pleasure 😊 thank you for sharing this wonderful charming place.
Thank you very much!
What no splatter or did I blink at the wrong time. Love the painting and boats but terrified of water.
Lol! - I'll make up for it next week!
Outstanding painting! As well as all the following paintings! All of them are gorgeous! I love watching your channel, it never disappoints... Thanks for sharing !
My pleasure 😊
Really enjoyed watching this, as I do all your paintings, thank you so much.
My pleasure 😊
I hope to visit some day. Love your little bits of history. My Mom was Scotch-English-both beautiful countries Love your encouraging words and gentle teaching techniques You make painting so fun. It's just a piece of paper.😉 These additional pub paintings are beautiful
Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it!
Hallo Paul!
Very very pretty! You impress us once again!
I really like the colors!
I can't wait to try it!
Have fun!
What an amazing gift you have! Thank you so much for sharing your skill and knowledge with us weekly. You inspire me to "give it a try", when I often think I can't. Cheers from Tennessee!
Wow, thank you!
Thank you Paul, for another lovely painting. I've recently discovered your channel and it's become one of my favorites! I'm new to watercolor and I appreciate the opportunity to learn from you.
Sandy, Raleigh NC
Thank you so much Sandy from Raleigh! 😀
Another fantastic landscape, beautiful work ❤❤
Thank you so much 😀
It’s amazing to watch you paint from a blank page to a masterpiece. You definitely have a gift. This painting is gorgeous and inspires me to try to paint it. The way you make the water look real with just a bit of horizontal lines and your magic scalpel is “magical”. Thank you for showing us how it’s done. I always enjoy your stories too. My favorite channel on UA-cam. (Or anywhere). ❤Have a blessed day! 🙏🏻🍻🏘️🛥️
That's so nice to say Jacquline - many thanks!!!
Just absolutely lovely. Thanks so very much.
You are so welcome!
Great tutorial Paul and a beautiful scene. As Aussies about to make our 10th pilgrimage to the Old Dart next month, we just love your pubs. They try to recreate them here but it’s just not the same. 🍻 Cheers.
Sounds great! - many thanks Wendy!
Excellent! I love the shape of water, it's so real!
Thank you so much 😀
Nice work, I enjoyed the gallery at the end.
Thanks so much!!!
Fantastic work! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you too!
Another lovely scene brought to life. Thanks so much for sharing your talent and inspiration. Hoping to find time to try this one soon x
Thanks so much 😊
Another masterpiece Paul! Love it as I loved looking at your other beautiful paintings of British pubs. I just wish I had a tiny bit of your artistic gift 😊
Thanks so much - you can do it!
A lovely scene. Enjoy the Newkie Brown.
Thanks .... and I did!
I enjoyed that scene, as we walk from motorhome to country pub and back again! Thanks Paul.
Where can I show you my painting?
I worked in this pub when I was a student! Still live near enough to go sometimes. I've often thought about painting it, now I have to! Thanks for this one Paul. Great choice.
Your most beautiful painting yet. Bravo !
Wow, thank you!
Wow, a lovely painting again, thank you.
Thank you! Cheers!
Such a beautiful job! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Hello sir long time no see 😊 sir could you please make one episode of painting like watercolor fermin lopez in UA-cam i also like the way he paint but i can't understand the language 😂
Your paintings are simply amazing.
Thank you so much 😀
Wonderful! I’m excited about trying this beautiful scene. Here in Nova Scotia, pubs are also plentiful…. In fact, in my hometown, located on Main Street, was a Kings Arms Pub…. I couldn’t wait until I turned 19 to be able to go the pub… I’m well beyond 19 now… but always a atmosphere of fellowship, good cheer and live music 🎉
Sounds wonderful! - love live music too!
Wonderful as always!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I truly enjoyed this painting. Lovely scene and masterfully executed piece. ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
That is amazing paint but I trust the proccess and I have a piece of s**** now
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this develop; it's serene, peaceful and very realistic. Your other pieces are sublime, you have such a wonderful talent. Thanks for all the tutorials, please keep them coming! ❤
Thank you so much 😀 I will
Thank you for another Wonderful Watercolour Wednesday tutorial. We live too far inland and no tradition of pubs so enjoyed hearing about pubs though I have read a lot about these in the fiction books that I am very fond of.
You are so welcome!
Stunning ❤
Thank you! 😊
Hermoso paisaje eres excelente maestro de la acuarela...🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽....
many thanks!!! 🇲🇽
Thanks!
No problem! - thanks for the tip!!!!
what a beautiful printing!
Thanks so much
Great video as always! We have a “King’s Head” pub a few miles away here in St. Augustine, FL. It’s right off the highway not in a lovely little village unfortunately, but it’s a wonderful Tudor-style building, and there’s even a bright red phone box out front. You’ve inspired me to take a picture and try to paint it. Cheers!
have fun Wendy!
Thank you Paull for a very serene looking painting ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Always appreciate seeing the pallette : ) Now I have actually had new castle brown ale and it was the closest thing to cough medicine I have ever tasted that was supposed to be beer,
When you have your holiday in the states we will introduce you to only exceptional bourbons : ) Like Buffalo trace, Blantons, Woodford reserve, Bourbon is completely "American " Still waiting for the Paul Clark yankee tour, however, LaGomera sounds like fun : )
Thanks so much and looking forward to the Bourbon!!!
Paul, the story you tell at the start is really nice and comfy. If only I didn't have to ride a bike! Ha! That is WORK! I'd rather work out with weights at the gym for five hours! I'll bet you have fantastic legs and booty! As usual, this painting is wonderful. Thanks for what you do. J
Thanks J as ever - but age is beginning to show!!!
Hello Paul. I enjoyed watching you paint that beautiful watercolor so much, that I found myself giving you a round of applause. Thank you for your efforts and your advice.
Thank you so much 😀 - applause back!
Fantastic 👏‼️👏‼️👏. Pastel pencils make a lovely difference.
Yes they do
Love this peaceful seaside scene..going to give this a try to today. Looks like you had a little friend helping you out today haha.. he caught my eye around 11 minutes into the tutorial on the left masking tape...Quick little thing. Thank you so much for the lessons and I truly love your choices in subjects! Big fan from Denver, Colorado, USA.
Hope you enjoy Marilee
Hi Paul, loved this one, being from the North East.
Would love to meet you and Margot in Durham City sometime. We have a gorgeous cathedral and castle....you could paint.
Sounds fab - It's a lovely part of the world - I visited many years ago!
Absolutely wonderful painting - and a fabulous tutorial. So refreshing to watch the process without a constant stream of 'not-so-subliminal' advertising for "my unique range of paints" or "my set of custom brushes" even when you did mention "your brush" you actually warned about the plug!!! Seeing the names of colours that are are instantly recognisable and readily available helps give the confidence to give your pictures a try. Thanks for all you do!
My pleasure 😊 - delighted to help!
Paul, I'm from Brazil and I love your work! I would love to go on a trip with your group of watercolourists, but I don't speak English and I know it would be difficult for me. Congratulations on the wonderful work!
Thanks so much!
Thank you! I really appreciate the step by step, the instruction and the wee info about pubs! So delightful!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's a very beautiful watercolour. I was wondering where the pub was located so I did a search. Is it the King's Arms, Seaton Sluice? Sorry if you mentioned it somewhere. It looks a lovely place to go.
Hiya - thanks, yes, I mentioned it at the start of the video!
Thank you Mr. Clark. Your style of painting is so refreshing! Cheers 🍻
Thank you kindly
Thank you Paul, lovely painting I enjoyed this one very much. I have visited many pubs all over UK when I lived there, met my husband in The Pint Pot in Gloucester.
Wow - coincidence we went there on a recent cycling tour!!!
Thank you Paul. Lovely painting. I enjoyed the tutorial. My enjoyment was enhanced by the fact that I live 5 miles from seaton sluice. The pub is in a great location and does very good Sunday lunches.
Wonderful! ... must go one day!
I always come back to your tutorials whenever I feel in the mood to pick up my brushes. You have a wonderful way of teaching and make me create paintings that I am always proud of. Thank you so much! This painting will make a perfect christmas gift for my father. Greetings from Germany :)
Thank you so much!
Always appreciate your calm positive attitude. Watercolor isn’t pressure it’s relaxing. It’s hard not to compare my work to yours but I remember it’s only a piece of paper it doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Thank you for the information on pubs.
Absolutely!! Great to hear - thanks!
Hi Paul, when you use only three brushes and frequently switch between colors, do you 1) just dip the brush in the new color 2) rinse the brush in clean water first 3) dry you brush with towel/ paper then dip in the new colour? Thank you!
When I remember! - 2) clean the brush between colours.
Hi Paul, Just been trying to find you talking about Palettes for watercolour as you have on paint, brushes, paper etc but unfortunately cannot find anything that I can see, have you made a video on this, if not would it be possible to do one. Needing to know which is the best type, what make, and best design, also size etc if possible. Thank you Paul for all your work in getting these videos together for us you are truly inspirational.
Great suggestion! - coming soon!
I’ve painted Seaton Sluice harbour and the Kings Arms a few times myself - very pretty area couple of miles from where I live 👍🏻
Sounds great! thanks!
Nice work.
Can you sell paintings that use Pixabay photos as a reference? Have you ever encountered issues with that?
I've not had a problem with this ... I'm sure they are all copyright free.
Beautiful painting🚤🏠🎨👋 Greetings from Sweden, Ela 74 yo🙋♀
Thank you very much
Very nice and contrasty painting. I sure reiterate what you've said about cotman paints. But number one is good paper. Many thanks for sharing your time to show us watercolour painting.
I totally agree! thanks
Your templates of drawings are great. Can you do a video about the various ways to transfer onto watercolor paper? Us beginners would be grateful! As always great painting !👍
Great suggestion! - I'll add it to the list.
