How to Replace Rusty Baseboard Heat Covers/Enclosure | Hot Water Dummy Base Install
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- In this video, I replace an old rusty baseboard heat enclosure. I am remodeled this small bathroom and this was actually something that was not going to be replaced but after seeing new flooring and trim go in, it was looking discolored and kind of gross. It ended up being an easier project than expected and it made a better impression on the room overall.

Thanks for watching! 😃
I did that kind of crap for 36 years. One of my consistent pains in the butt was those hot water baseboards
Thank you for helping me enjoy my retirement 🙂👍
My baseboard heating elements were installed 60 years ago and look every inch of that. Thanks for this very timely video. I'll replace mine in the next month.
Hope the video helps! 😀👍
Bravo to you!
❤
@@suzanna5764 🤞
@@TheFixerHomeRepairwhich paint do you use to paint these please? I wanna try before replacing. Thanks
The outtakes must have been sanitised considerably 😂😂 I’m sure there was a lot of ‘bad’ words used getting the old brackets and backing out 😜
I was cussing on his behalf, that's for sure :D
Mack from Midwest Magic Cleaning sent me to your channel.
I found your channel from a "Shout Out" on MidwestMagicCleaning. Glad to be here!
Mack at Midwest Magic Cleaning suggested you and im so excited to watch ALL your videos. I have a mobile home that needs a lot of work.
I’ll probably never have to do that because I don’t want to live in the miserable cold like you crazy people but I still enjoy watching you fix things. You made that bathroom so much nicer for them.
Hi ,Midwest Magic Cleaning on YT sent me over! Can't wait to watch your videos!!❤
Midwest Magic Cleaning sent me. Looking forward to your content.
me watching this video going "AAAA SPIDER!" "AAAA SPIDER!" "AAAA SPIDER!" "AAAA SPIDER!" "AAAA SPIDER!" "ooh old paper?!?" "AAAA SPIDER!" "AAAA SPIDER!" because i have such a rational reaction to everything ever (great vid as always!!)
Preach it, my fellow arachnophobe!!
Same
I’ve not seen one of these fixed since
early ‘This Old House’ days. TFS❗️
Nice job! FYI, instead of putting pencil marks on walls that have to be cleaned up, I use small piece of masking tape over studs....mark the tape and remove the tape leaving clean walls.
Great information! Came over here from Midwest Magic Cleaning recommendation!
Nice job. You made a rather sniggly job look doable. Thanks.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I now feel confident to tackle this project in my house.
Should you re-caulk where the pipe goes into the floor so bugs don't come up through the bottom?
You own Midwest Magic $4!! Subscribed. 😁
Very nice job, Matt. 👍☺️
🤓🤓🤓The close up video is AWESOME!!! it helps so much to see what you are actually doing. I just subscribe to your chanel. I am going to try to replace my garage door threshold!!! And next a baseboard heater box.😀😀😀
In Texas we tend to have heat and ac coming out of a vent that is screwed on the wall near the ceiling. If I had to deal with that wretched clamping thingie, you would have found me lying on the bathroom floor sobbing! Good editing. 😺
Midwest Magic Cleaning recommended your channel. I think you owe him $4. 😂
Wow what a difference!
Looks great!
So glad I found your channel
I'm in Alabama and have never seen one of those things. But I was thinking--wouldn't it have been easier to just remove the baseboards around it to give more room?
I have the same one with the same problem. Thanks for pointing this out to us, I will be doing mine soon. Good job!
Thanks for sharing this video always helpful my friend 😊
I had 15 of these in similar condition. Too much effort. So I used the plastic covers (Neatheat) and they look good.
We left the bedrooms and kitchen baseboard heaters from 1978 when we upgraded to a geothermal system in 2002. No rust and handy a couple of winters ago when the GEO system failed and we had to rely on the baseboard heaters for a winter! Our electric bill was sky high that winter.
This looked like it was A LOT of work. I can see why it was painted multiple times. It does look so much better being replaced.
Thanks, bud. We learned together very helpful.
Very useful info. Thank you!
Thanks for posting Matt
It doesn't help me since I'm in Florida, but I always enjoy home maintenance since I know it'll save me thousands in the future!
Good job.
Good Job.
The house I grew up in had that style of heat, but I never saw it afterwards until decades later. I had honestly thought it had just gone completely out of fashion and nobody used it any longer since I never saw it on new construction.
You will think of any reason to use your favorite tool. 😅 Great video as always.
Thank you for sharing! Great job!
Thank you lord for Heat Pumps! 😊
Not a common source of heat in Texas. But I really like to know how to fix almost anything.
Did the spider make it? 🕷️
😅
Which one? I saw a few lol
Your name is cracking me up 🤣
Love the satisfying click sound.
Did you just reuse the old plastic pieces? Do you think it is okay to skip them? I am missing those on my baseboards and doesn’t seem like it comes with the kit
Matt, I have the samr problem doing radio voiceovers!
The Fixer 👍
I would use a portable air compressor to blow the dust out of the element fins.
Thank you for this video. I have a baseboard in my bathroom that I have tried to get off it is truly disgusting. Now I see why I can’t get it off…the bottom edge is under the ceramic tile that was installed so I don’t want to break the tile and I am in a pickle as to what to do and how to remove this. UGH
Thanks
Hum....seems I just saw you do this, not to long ago; must have been on one of the new short videos you recently introduced.
My guy figured out how to buy himself another 1.5 to 2.0”
Those covers look like a whole amusement park of getting fingers cut
🤔🤔🤔🤔 Also I have to let the air out ..bleed the line and I cannot find the bleeder. My boiler company said it should be up in one of the bedrooms.. my husband doesnt know much about this stuff either...Any tips or tricks on that?
Question will you redo you deck
Yes!
💖
Not nearly enough swearing getting that bracket off.
Nope. I'd paint it again.
Is it just me or are they a lot more of a pain in the ass to take out than they should be 😂
🙋♀️💪👍
So many spiders.
no sound in the video
Did you have it on mute?
What a horrible design
0:12 "So I've been doing some work in this bathroom" 😅
