Helping out a mokoko recently helped me realize how absolutely fucked it is for new players. He has 2 chars, main stuck at 1400. Using the hyper express event he can't hone anymore because he has no raw gold. He won't get into argos party's because he got bad RNG and doesn't have good enough accessories to even get 3x3. I gave him 4k and offered to help carry, but most players would just quit when they hit that wall. It's really gross to watching some of the community defend the state the game is in and even mock new/poor players for not having perfectly geared characters.
New players would have a better time if the community stopped emphasizing so much on catching up and the min-max mindset.
I started when the game came out, and honestly I had a lot of fun doing islands, rapport, and whatnot. These are impossible now due to the lack of players as well as all the pressure to be the strongest possible in order not to rely on bussing or be gatekept..

Best way to catch up. Play Blue Gunlance (maybe 3). Cheap to build 5x3 (well 4x3 +2 + 1) . Desirable to take in groups. Use less pots :)
as a player from day one i don't think it's possible for new players to catch up, my reasons are the following:
1) prices are so inflated which makes it impossible for people to buy accessories and have proper engravings
2) gatekeeping is unreal and the expectation of 5x3 for everything almost is a standard
3) game is toxic as there are barely any learning parties so as a new player you are forced to pay for bus's which makes it even harder to gear up
Inflated item prices and cheaper honing prices make it much easier for a new player to catch up on ilvl and get more gold for their drops. 4x3 is incredibly cheap and easy to build(besides the pheons). Being part of an active guild solves gatekeeping issues if you are a newer player. 5x3s only really become an issue if you are doing Brel and sometimes clown. Learning parties are a serious issue and you don't generally get in one without having a guild/friends or getting lucky on the server. I do clown learning parties often but only for guildies/friends of friends.
the learning party is so goddam true i missed 1 month 2 week going through clown at that time im nowhere near entering brelzsahza , and might that also apply onto brelsahza too, kinda bad on community that there is no learning party available much unless you're a healer class that would be acceptable no matter gs and how good your character is, and right now i alrdy done with the game and i heard this problem also from my friend who just played it recently, too sad about the community, it seems that new player are nowhere welcomed to the mid - end game right now
Don’t forget you need to have roster level 200+ and be 1500+ item level in order to finally be able to enter Argos for the first time. Otherwise parties will be less likely to choose you.

Argos is gate kept at 1445-1460 for average but you can find 1415 groups just don’t expect many or smooth runs. But it’s not hard to reach 1445
For those of us who were here at the beginning, that 1340-1370 "dead zone" was horrible. Finally hitting 1370 was taking a huge weight off of your shoulders. Then we got honing buffs which required getting at least one character to 1415, then 1460. So glad those days are gone.

1370 is still dead till 1415. because then you are stuck in yoho hell, and nobody actually does argos outside of bussing so you will never get to experience that content on curve, hell normal valtan you wont experience either.

@@dattebayyoo5393 you know that for someone with a single character at 1370 it takes a month to save 10k gold right? 4800 per wk - 1300 for argos bus (because nobody plays 'dead' content) puts you sitting at 3500 gold per week.
Hello! 2k+ hours over here and I'd like to share my thoughts on this video. Overall good advice and I am so happy videos like this are being made as we get closer to the anniversary of the Western launch. Overall great advice but somethings are a bit "meta" thinking. I recommend that players first off really focus on choosing a class that speaks to them. You didn't even talk about how relic sets change how classes feel and preform. A major thing that brings me to lost ark every day is how fun each class is to play and the enjoyment I get from the gameplay loop. Building roster early and pushing characters is rough especially for new players.
I recommend making around 3 at first then expanding only when an express pass comes out. Pushing a character with no pass is a huge gold sink. I doubt someone who isn't utilizing the 6 gold earners each week is going to benefit from making 4+ alts right off the bat. Play your main and enjoy the leveling experience. If you do choice to skip (with $$$) this (I'd recommend not to you get a great feel for the class) you'd be launched into Low T3 and start your daily farming.
Legion raids are rough and let's not kid ourselves, everyone has limited time. Play to your strengths never feel like you have to do everything on every character. Thats how you get burnout. I myself have 11 characters all over 1430 with my main 6 at 1460+. Focus learning your class and perfecting your raid runs. Mechs are not as easy as they seem.

Yeah, I gave up Early before Argos release and came back with the summoner, made my GL to relic 1460 and wasted the pass in the summoner, both game plays didn't suit my style and now I'm pushing a Artillerist that feels good and rewarding when you get into the wheels, different from the piano of summoner/gl
Agree on your last advice. Learning to play your class brings much fun, even myself being 1495, 1490, others 1460,i still dont know any mechs lol, did busses all the time(which is a bit of mistake), so thats gonna be a challenge, but thats what makes the game more enjoyable.
It's funny that this vid found its way into my recommendations because alot of my current frustrations as a new player were spot on in this vid. I underestimated just how much effort it would take to build an entire roster, and everything about wanting to push my glaive but not having the resources hit home. I luckily get good advice from friends and content creators so it's not as bad as it could've been, but vids like this reinforce the fact that a consistent grind is key. got my 5x3 like 4 days ago , been playing since launch
Coming back into the game, originally put about 600 hours into it but there wasn't enough content to support pushing much further in ilvl. The one thing that annoys me about this game is the focus on alts. I didn't play more than 2-4 characters at launch up until I quit, and I don't plan to now lol. Definitely slows you down a bit but you don't HAVE to play a ton of characters, especially if you play more casually.
Literally redownloaded this game over the weekend and played for like 10min and felt super lost. Then I see a video like this. Must be fate to push and come back. lol

For a complete beginner horizontal is gonna be more important than vertical for at least the first month. If I started again today, I would keep my first character at 1370, buy busses if necessary get those 2.1k Argos gold (600g for carry), get the free no-bid oreha carries, invest into a second 1370 to get a second gold lockout, repeat for at least 3 or 4 characters. With a single character lockout you'll never EVER gonna have enough gold to progress. I have to admit, even reading myself writing this this sounds like a snooze fest, but it's the optimal way to do it and the exact problem Lost Ark has in regards to new players.
good advice if you want to burn out someone
There is thousands of easy gold/hour daily on the AH for new players if they knew what to do. They can buy lvl.2 gems for like ~50 gold each, combine them and sell the good lvl.3 gems(class gems for meta skills) for 400 gold(over 100% profit), good lvl.4s for 900-1100(also 100% profit) and then list the lvl.4 gems for lowest generic pricing that didn't make a good skill(losing 5% at max to a minor profit depending on prices). This is easy money and can be scaled up as you go. Also a great way to get a set of play gems for yourself as well without wasting your silver.

@@kyle784 Flipping gems is a thing, yes. But the 10s restriction turns it into a braindead waiting simulator and a massive waste of time imho. Sure you can sell a Level 8 gem for huge profit, too bad you'll have to klick buy on level 2 gems 729 times with 10s waiting time. 10/10 game of the year gameplay right here
@@MrAnt-hh3bp When you scale up you stop buying those lvl.2 gems and start buying higher level ones. I mostly do lvl.6-8 so I buy level 5 and 6 gems. The profit comes from selling the good class gems along the way far more than any value that could be gained from combining. Surely you have a better idea to tell a new player that can make over 10k gold/hour consistently that isn't boring at all/isn't super limited/requires minimal setup.
I think the hardest part is to cope with the fact for many people the classes they want to play require a lot of gold investment to even get into parties
Yea spec classes needing high spec and adrenaline engraving is most expensive.

I came back after a yr. My original char didn’t get past 600 due to not know wtf I was doing. So I came back and did the express events. Well, you nailed it. The express events threw everything at me for doing nothing but msq. After finishing story and events, I didn’t do one dungeon or raid and just used the free mats thrown at me and got the full set of gear given to me by the events to +18 1490 and have no fkn clue what to do with her lol. So I have a ton of left over books and going to roll new and learning everything as intended.
came back after months when it dropped on steam for us west or east item lvl 600 and no i cant do any raids or bosses with ppl im i so low that no one is in my lvl now ?
I’m not exactly new but I can’t get into raids as of late because people aren’t active then when I do get in one mokoko ends up wiping party and the cycle continues
Me and 3 friends have started very recently, I've been having a blast. We just finished Punika, and ngl I'm fearful as fuck for the future with raids, I've heard so much about people not letting people in. I'm also mad anxious because we are all playing from south Africa, so 200 ping, its rough out here, but it is fun. Just hope it will stay fun later on
If you do not get accepted into parties, try to make a group yourself and actively ask for help in your title. There is a few people willing to help where they can.
Just make your own groups.
Thank you so much for this Cauttyh. Im a returnee from 2 weeks ago, and it's been rough. I cant get into any content (my main is currently viable for valtan normal, but no one wants him) and I'm just right now have built a full tier 3 alts at 1370 (6 of them), and my main is at 1422. I will do the same thing you suggest and gradually bring everybody to 1460.
But like I said, with the hard gatekeeping nowadays, it's impossible to get into anything. That's the main gripe i have right now. Either way, I love the game and I do just progress my account gradually as I go.
I'd try two things if I were you. 1) Try to find a newbie friendly guild. A lot of people are in statics/guilds but don't necessarily have equal rosters so getting a "free bus" is definitely possible. 2) If you have the free time it's worth trying to make a learning group or even advertise that you're a newbie in the party finder. It might not fill up quickly but it can't hurt to fish for friends.
2 ways to get into valtan if people gate keep you, either make or join a learning party, or buss until your able to buy decent gear and be able to join normal parties

Can’t get into groups to learn content. At 1407 and I had to bus for carries through argos because I could not join a group. Can’t get into a guild till I hit 1445
You can always make the lobby yourself, 1445 with hyper express should be only 2-3 weeks if you're new fresh player with 1 character

I would say if you don’t have 5 hours a day make a main and a Paladin and then do side horizontal stuff until there’s another pass. Too many people miss chaos and field bosses and wandering merchants trying to take 6 characters through dailies.
I play 2-3 hours daily on 4 characters. It’s doable to do their dailies and I’m able to fish and do 1 legion raid + chaos gate. This is honestly all that you need, I think 4 chapters is enough and anything more yoire just gonna burn out. I can’t imagine playing lost ark for mroe than 5 hours a day without getting burnt. No clue how people do it.
There is no way to catch up unless you swipe on every package/deal. Zero way to grind. Even myself I only have 2 characters in Brel (3rd coming next week) and 3 parked at 1472.5. I did spend over $100, and if somebody starts now, I just have no clue how one would even get close. Hell, I just got LoS 18 last week and almost done with lvl 7 gems on my 6 mains.

My main is a Blue Gunlancer presently at 1535. All my alts are parked at 1430. I play Blue Gunlancer, Pally and Bard classes only. Having my main hone only helps with having a good amount of gold, silver and mats funneled by my alts. My alts do argos/valtan only for the gold, These raids are much easier and faster with limited to no wipes at all.
Also I've always geared my main by paying for busses then joined learning parties afterwards. Once I hit 1560 with my main. I'll bump my alts to 1460, Being all my alts are Blue Gunlancers, Pally's & Bards. Thankfully I've never experienced being gate kept.
I'm a very average player at best, i die wipe mechs most of time :) However I love the game and enjoy playing Blue Gunlancer, Pally & Bard. They are by far my favorites classes to play!
An easy way to make Sidereals easier to use is just rebinding them to buttons you are comfortable with. I myself bound them to f1,f2,f3
I wouldn't recommend anyone to come back or start playing this game at this point, its too rough out there unless you have friends you can play with etc.
Very good breakdown on how to approach the game. Most people focus solely on how to reach specific ilvls, but not the mindset.
I stopped playing at around 1340 back when it first released, and looking at the steep curve to be able to hit end-game now is very discouraging.
Is it possible to catch up without playing a full roster? Say, with 3 characters? And how is the support scene right now? Is it still way easier to find groups as support?
I might as well come in here as someone who only plays Bards. Getting into a party as a support is really easy, you'll even be accepted in Brel raids with 3x3 engravings, as long as you have your support engraving, expert and awakening with max swift you'll be fine.
The biggest issue I have is not being able to do the content. You grind and grind and grind to build your character, yet I’m not allowed to do the content…..finally got my 4x3, sitting at 1470 and can’t even get into a valtan group cuz I havnt done it…..there is never learning groups either cuz everyone just busses….so basically I have to grind and grind to pay someone to do the content for me??? Very flawed system
as a returning player i've found that 1370 is not that hard to get but after that it's over. You'll need 300gold per dungeon carry but you can't make any gold since all activities are dead (chaos dungeon 3 people we got lucky killing the final boss 2sec before the end of countdown /ghostship forget it.
Now If you're new player you are screwed unless you buy gold and trade it so others can carry you to 1400.
In the end i just uninstalled the game, developers don't even bother scale boss fights depending how many participants

I think with the game being an mmo that requires good teamwork it all comes down to whether the player base is large enough to cater to people at varying levels of progression.
Ideally you want people at the same stage of progression as you with the same available playtime. It does take effort to find that though so casuals are always going to have a harder time. It's whether that bothers them or not that matters though.
yeah, tier 1 and 2 are hell right now, and tier 3 before 1415 is pretty bad too
issue with most MMO is the casuals are forgotten and if you dont stay on top you have no way of getting back on the horse.
I've just stopped playing the game since the roadmap for 2023 came out. Playing multiple characters for mats and gold on limited sources, close to no content for the main, repetitive tasks, top notch gatekeeping, toxic community and so on. I'm tired of this. Don't get me wrong. I freaking love my Reaper and the game in general but i'm done fighting against the boredom of farming the same tasks over and over, still getting gatekeeped on overgeared characters. I played 50hrs per week and still had no time to do horizontal content. It became a 2nd job.
The gatekeeping is soooo annoying you just have to Always make a group yourself

Play 3-4 characters max daily. I play 2-3 hours daily and this is more than enough time to get them done. I have enough time for one legion and chaos gate. I’ll still also be caught up with the most recent content. Anything more is crazy imo. Too much time on a game

I quit in September, i lurk around still to see if any progress has been made with the bots and RMT ruining the game. Unfortunately nothing has changed, just got worse. I am glad I stepped away. Sure, I get tempted with coming back but all the issues i had with the game just keep getting worse and worse. Damn, I loved this game and played since the three day "headstart" so much fun back then. Then 95% of the side content areas turned into ghostowns so if you didnt get the island souls early, well you are SOL even back in Sept. This game could have been truly great but it's a laughing stock to most who wont touch the game and when I played I just felt cheated everyday. Games should be fun lol, not make me jaded becasue some guy walks past with maxxed gear and gems that he likely RMT for and all the hours I put in dont amount to jack. This game is all about maximizing profits but in a scummy way. They dont even hide it because they know people will still throw money at it, just like a drug or gambling addiction. AGS and Smilegate (appropriate name) are laughing to the bank. All the systems are designed to make you spend tons of cash or, honestly, quit. The companies dont care about the people who put in thousands of hours but only spend a little or even worse in their eyes the truly f2p. They want you gone if you dont empty your wallet.
returning player here. current roster: 1460; 2x 1445; 1430; 2x 1415. I have the resources to push the 1415s to 1430 or push one to 1460 but my issue is that those arent geared and the gatekeeping is too hard. i can easily clear vykas/valtan hm, I know all mechanics. but getting into a group is so hard that I am doing it the other way around. i first gear one of the 1415‘s with relic accessory (4x3 + 2 bcuz i dont have leg engraving book yet) and will then push them. otherwise they will be at item lvl for the raids but cannot raid cause nobody will group with me :(
The main tip that I would like to say which I find most important is take your time, rushing through everything and being stressed about being behind everyone will make the game feel like a chore, explore islands, talk to other players, also join a guild! My guild is on Galatur if you’re new, returning, or just a player with no guild reply to this comment! We’re always needing new people to hop in and hang out and we can help you with content

I did the hyper express on a paladin and got to 1370 pretty easy, not sure if I was doing something wrong, but I keep running out of the mats that you get from the stages. Up to 1395, but each upgrade only has like 20% chance to work. I was thinking it'd be easy to complete, but now I'm not so sure I'll have the mats before the event ends haha.

Trying to return but everything seems to be dead mid game. So im not sure how I could even get friends to play when you get left at mid game. IMO Lost ark has alot of content but it kind of overwhelmes you and theres not much direction.
I totally see your point about the powerpasses and hyper express, but I disagree because the powerpasses are intended for another roster slot, opposed for your main. Granted, if a new player doesn’t realize they should use it for an alt, that could be problematic for them. Just my thought :)

My honest opinion is to not focus on catching up. The community gives the image that raids are the only endgame and goal in this game. Play the game how you enjoy whether it's raids or the immense horizontal content the game has to offer.
If you do want to stay on top of the newest content, be ready for grind or swipe life.
1460 might lead to a headache tbh. 1472.5 is prob the best spot to push to. If I was new I'd recommend 4-5x 1414 and 1-2 1460+ push chars (1 of these being a support).
I agree about what to aim for roster wide though if you meant 1415 and not 14
@@SpiesXD 1415 you lose oreha gold which is insanely easy to do on 5x characters a week. Just hit matchmaking and there is almost always a juicer in the group. Usually better to do this later in the week when the juicers run out of legion raids.
If you try to do normal Valtan at 1415 on 5x characters you need engravings and investment and even then it will be hell at ilvl for little more reward.
All my alts are 1472.5 and feel it's a pretty good spot. Don't plan on pushing my dps alts higher anytime soon either.
@@Spineripper63 but at 1415 you start doing endgame content, you start farming relic accessories, bones for relic set and you get to familiarize yourself with valtan, and barely any investment at all is necessary since theres no issue doing valtan nm with just a 3x3

Just came back after a while of not playing. Stopped when clown was released up to my static all basically quitting. Following your advice and currently pushing all my alts to 1460. My main is at 1495 and my second alt is 1480. Can confirm that with each character that gets raised the grind does feel more rewarding. I would just advise new players to look at the culture of your server because on mine the gatekeeping has gotten real. I would say try and tap at least 2 pieces over I’ll just so you are accepted easily into parties and if you can make a support to be able to get into any party, the more supports you play the easier you life becomes. Yes honing is easier but making a making a good build for ur alts is crazy exepensive due to pheons and class accs/books
Yup. New players are forced to do weeks of argos/oreha to get a few pieces of a set or wait until they get enough pheons from the game. The accs are cheap though unless you are going for 5x3s. I made a 90+quality(3 relic/2 leg), 4x3+1 for my summoner for 57k(26k for accs/31k for pheons) and I could have waited on one of the pieces to save 3-5k. This is pretty cheap for any established player, especially if you had some pheons lying around.
Dont forget rocks, that shit is crazy expensive if u want a 7/7
Join a guild, do endless chaos if you need a few more leaps for another tap instead of using unbound. Do clown island on every new character, takes about a week to get those leaps! Focus on doing things that yield silver. 1x your cubes if you have to with weeklies. You will need silver BADLY on a new account. And you have plenty of time to work on these things on a fresh account. First park zone should be like 1340 for alts, then move up to 1370. Do argos every week until you slowly get around 1400. Then focus on south vern for extra mats and stuff. Keep doing chaos and hit 1415. I'd honestly park alts at 1415 until main is 1475. If you do deskaluda's every day on alts it will be time consuming but you'll be able to sell leaps for gold to help flush out your characters without draining your silver on alts.
You should be able to get a decent 3x2 or 3x3 with just argos accessories after 3-4 weeks. I'd save anything that has class + damage for alts. 3x3 is fine for 1415 parking, albeit painful. Argos accessories can actually fetch a decent amount of gold too at least right now! Double check prices!

I'm taking a break from Lost ark, I took a break before brel released, most of my characters were parked 1472.5 x9 5x3 roster. lol my main 6 were lucky and got like 90-100 weapon quality in a few taps. (luckily my glavier & striker got 100%) So now im just relaxing and playing slowly while enjoying other games.
I've been a solo player since Steam's version release i've gotten a shadowhunter to 1415 and got stuck from there, as me being solo i can't find my place in a valtan raid as i get kicked for idk why, should i just worry about other charecters or what shoudl i do next...

What is the easiest way to earn gold right now (what to sell?) as a returning player? I am tempted to not level up more (1480 now) untill ive saved 100k for 2 relic accessories so that i have 5x3, but i dont have the energy to get into the newer raids and learn the mechanics yet (dont have crew atm). Selling my honing materials works, but its so cheap now on the market.
EASIEST? Sell your unbound materials like Leapstones from Guardian Raids. Beyond that don't consider progressing your account and think about what you can do today, that you can sell. The more obnoxious it is or limited it is the more other people will pay for it. Do Life Skills and sell the materials, maybe craft with those materials first then sell the product (Fusion Materials are a common one but prices fluctuate). Sell the gems from your boss rush. Do Legion Raids and don't buy boxes. We make insane amounts of gold per day per character we just don't want to give up the stuff that's worth the gold.
Besides your raids, sell leapstones, do gold islands, do chaos gates and sell shard bags, do boss rushes and sell gems and do oreha no bid carries where you take the legendary books for carrying. You can also do lifeskills and sell that stuff or ideally craft something people need on the daily like whirlwind nades and sell them.
fyi Valtan doesn't have "guarantee" legendary book for auction.
Getting 5x3 is really expensive for no reason, I need 2 jewelry for my main and 2 for my alt

I hate to rush to 1445 while I’m still new and I was enjoying doing raids and dungeons from 302 to 802+. Now I’m 1370 after weeks ( I don’t play a lot ) now there is new 2 dungeons and argos to play and learn while buff honing end after 8 days I think .. I don’t know what to do really 1445 with no good gear and engraving and no tripod , gems etc … but the there is a lot to obtain after 1445 and I’ll loss the mokokko buff it help me more to play and learn more .. will I’m really mess
It takes a bit of time, but before you know it your gems and tripods will be set and you wont have to worry about them. I see people in gate 6 brel (1520 ilv) with lv 5 gems. Just keep playing and youll get there, trust
they rly need to get rid of this bound mats per character made them roster bound- 1 example i have is- i have 1 character that i dont like and i want to delete it and make a new class but the problem is that this character has so many leapstone in the bag and they will go in to trashbag- not to mention the shards- my main has 50k + shards from t1/2 and they sit there collecting dust- why they didnt make to be able to convert shards from t1/2 to t3 but nvm this is not bug of a problem but it will help

Just play support 3x3 u get into every party more than 4x3 dps without good gems, you need like 4-5 lvl5 gems and u can sell the rest so make 6 bards and chill

Returning sweatlord i have like 800+ hours on Lost Ark Western and tbh the first 1 min not even of the video and you reminding me how alt grindy this game is just made me slog , i forsure think you can do perfectly with having 1-2 chars maybe 3 all caught up so you can actually do the playable raids and content atleast more then 1 time a week for your own enjoyment, and anything extra is just that, extra dont really need 10+ alts just to playt the game, i was and still am F2P with the exception of the Vultan Season Battle Pass or whatver, so yea was fun but forsure think you couldve came at this at a sorta different angle

This video literally got me to uninstall the game. After playing for 12 hours I have no idea what you are talking about. This is prob great for returning players, but as a new player it was gibberish. This did help me realize this game is most certainly not for me though.
