Currently, Smilegate is creating soloing content for users who enjoy playing games alone, such as single-player Abyss Dungeon and single-player corps commander raid. The update will probably be carried out in Korea after June.
The director said that the character can grow by obtaining attributable rewards in solo content, and that he will continue to update cooperative content and single-player content in the future.
I think it's great because you can figure out the boss's patterns and gimmicks and practice. ah! And assault raids that can be easily enjoyed alone will also be released soon.

@@nicholastrickel6917same here i played it when it first came out in the US and was a complete snooze fest trying to get to level 50 and quit. The combat is great but you barely did any fighting doing the main story quest. Maybe I went about it the wrong way idk. But the future solo content gives me some hope.

It's been great watching you learn all the Lost Ark content and I love your approach to learning raids close to ilvl (not like other streamers that over-gear each raid on release).
As someone that's introduced friends to the game and made alts on other regions, I've seen some reoccurring patterns to the Lost Ark community. I'll try comment on your points while watching in-order:
- Power Pass problem: pushing new players straight into brel. New players can 100% do brel, they just need to make their own lobbies and play with other mokokos. When brel was released we all did it on 1490s no problem, so many mokokos won't make their own lobbies but try join "carrying 1 friend" lobbies where vets are trading carries for gearing alts.
As you mentioned, the earlier abyssal dungeons have a lot of mechs and value. The classic "velga", stagger check, 3x etc all are in the earlier abyssals. People that played since launch likely remember the pain of progging those but in hindsight it was a great time, and a great way to meet folk.
- Campaign. I've seen friends stop before they even reach level 50, but I know for a fact that'd make great players (come from mobas etc), for some the questing is far too long. The lore is kind of interesting, but it's kind of a blur once you get to 1620+ and onwards. I understand it's probably way too much developer time for them to rework the campaign. The memory chamber is great for watching the cut scenes.
- Valtan and first legion raids. Valtan is the raid that gets people hooked, it's insanely fun and even to this day they're re-using it (extreme which is just an easier version of hell mode). The orbs in gate 1, yeah. The local kids at the Elementary school would be able to resolve this mech, but for some reason MMO gamers struggle with it. Legion raids are probably the best designed element of Lost Ark, it's just the never ending chores and homework (unas/dailies) that lead to burn-out.
- Make your own groups. This is the best advice I've read and it's true. I can't remember who said this, but no-one gatekeeps themselves. Any mokokos reading this, just make your own groups. You don't need LoS or 4x3 or 1% demon damage to clear ANY content in the game. There's no DPS checks as long as you've got your mouse/keyboard or controller plugged in. Go make your own groups and prog with similar folk, that's how you make friends and never get gatekept. People will spending hundreds of thousands of gold on their "perfect meta" builds but honestly you could just do the raid with main stat only + class engraving and be fine. Mokokos, when was the last time you were in a raid that went berserk with 8 players alive?
- The Mokoko express: gives 5x3 engravings for free, and you'll likely have the mokoko buff also. As mentioned above 5x3 is enough to clear all content currently in the game.
- Catching-up: It's a difficult topic. As with all MMOs there's unlimited amount of stuff you could do. I only suggest people find what they like, whether it's life skills, raids, erp, hell mode, flipping the market or slamming chaos dungeons. There's many avenues for you all to enjoy.
- Alts. Alts. Alts. Alts are fun to play, usually not worth the gold investment if that's why you're pushing them to end game (1620 atm). You can have scuffed alts that aren't geared at all for free then play them in hell mode using the book of coordination and enjoy them just fine. I'd only really make more alts with expresses/passes unless you have a job where you can WFH or just happen to have a lot of spare time.
- Rested Legion Raids. GREAT IDEA. AGS/SG please take notes.
- Jail system. Needs to be fixed. Also bussing needs to be addressed but that's a topic for another day. The system to reset gate progress already exists (extreme mode) but it's abused by busers and ruins it for everyone. Veterans don't want to take any mokokos because in a lot of raids one mokoko imposter can jail the group for hours. We usually try take 1 or 2 mokokos per raid and ask them if they know mechs before entering. It sucks because you can clear most raids with only a few dps and the rest can just come along for the ride, as long as they do mechs. There's no way to tell if someone can do mechs when they low roster level/no hell titles to indicate they're a smurf etc.
- LFG. Yeah Lost Ark is fairly pug friendly, you can just make a lobby and people will join. Having to schedule raids is where a lot of people draw the line, it becomes more like a job/too much. Having said that, networking and making friends is the best investment you'll ever make in Lost Ark. Your friends won't gatekept your rat alts, as long as you help them in return. Solo queueing every raid is possible if you're a pumper and willing to carry jailge groups. There are external discords that will make your raid life easier. Also try out hell modes, progging for hours is a great way to meet people who have good attitudes and usually don't care about how geared your characters are.
- Conclusion: Been lurking watching your prog since valtan days and I love your attitude to making groups and being honest about your experience. Those initial first clears you get a real dopamine hits and well deserved. I hope AGS/SG listen to your feedback as you seem to have your ducks in a row. I want to be able to play with mokokos without them having the option to jail the raid. Make normal content not have "wipe" mechs and leave those for sweaty hell mode enjoyers please. Or give the practice modes a bigger reward so casuals can slowly gear up without them worrying about jailing others.

And hopefully be able to get thru the jailge gate! 🙌 i’m a returnee and big lore/story person. It is so much less stressful now compared to launch. My advice, the moment you think raids are HW (hate that word so much too) take a break and just wait for the next major patch
Some of the jump start strategies was like rushing to endgame was decided with a lot of streamers input. Hopefully the 2nd time around they look at your video and make those meaningful changes
It's nice to hear that you've mostly had a positive experience with the game, enough to recommend it to others. I think many of the people that have been playing for a longer period of time tend to be kind of jaded. You have some very good suggestions too, that would definitely improve the game.

Nice video sir. I agree with a lot of your points. New players need to progress through the story at least once to get a full scope of the world and enjoy the solo aspect as it’s the only one you get except some horizontal activities. I think getting rid of Pheons and making the overall card progression easier to obtain would help new, and returning players gain some ground. There is a lot of power creep associated with cards and of course gate keeping if you go at it solo.

But they had a big game revamp called Season 2, i think that was with t3 release and in 2020.
We are 2 (soon 3) big content / raid updates behind.
If we consider our raid release scchedule of usually 1 every 4 months. Then we are about 4-6 months atleast behind kr. If not even 8. Depending on how long we wait for Echidna after Thaemine

Mentioning the Jail System; The Valtan Extreme Event actually had a "reset gate" button, so people could go back from G2 to G1 if they needed to. Would be nice to have it for normal raids as well.
that wouldn't be a good idea for normal raids since there's Bus(es) than the game would be full of bus drivers printing gold :D

@@Wer-n3r I mean they could have prevented bussing if they wanted do. Also the prices would drop significantly since they would be an unlimited supply of busses. Also you can only reset if you are "stuck" in a gate, but you cannot reset when you are finished of course. Wouldn't stop Brel busses I guess but still.
It's weird that there aren't titles for actually "surviving" a raid until the end, so bussing would at least not be worth it title wise.

So on the jail problem, I absolutely agree that something needs to be done, but I don't know if they can necessarily just let people rerun previously cleared gates because as has often been said it might make bussing even more profitable. I also think some older players who know how raids used to work in KR before our regions even existed might be scared that they'd go back to that system as the solution.
Previously, even if you cleared gates of the raid if you didn't clear the last one you and exited out for whatever reason you would restart from gate one, the catch being you didnt receive any rewards at all until the end of the raid. This of course ended up in a different yet similar jail situation where you just couldnt clear the last gate no matter how many different groups you went through and getting no rewards despite clearing many of the fights. To alleviate that issue they implemented the current system where each gate has rewards, but are locked after clearing so you can't redo them infinitely for more rewards.
An argument could definitely be made for allowing people to reset gate progress like in the previous system, just without giving extra rewards, but that of course runs into the bussing issue where bussers can infinitely rerun raids selling busses albeit not complete clears. I agree with you that the benefits probably outweigh the risks of that happening, but I understand the concern that other players have with that. Bussing is already so prevelant and predacious that the idea of it being exacerbated even further is definitely cause for caution. But there is also the possibility that it removes the stress bus riders feel to learn and prog raids, thus removing customers who feel they have no other choice, which in turn also creates less imposters who didn't learn the raid and just got bussed, thus reducing the amount of jails even more. I think it's definitely an idea worth looking into and iterating on if nothing else. They could also just take a hardline stance on bussing and ban anyone engaging in it which would remove the only drawback to this change, but it doesn't seem like that is happening any time soon unfortunately.
Edited to add: They also recently introduced an improved chat system in Korea that we will get at some point that does a lot to address what you said about a better chat system. I haven't heard too too much about it since at the end of the day it isn't progression related QOL, but from what little I have seen and heard it is pretty good. (also hope my absolute essay of a comment wasn't too long lmao)
There would 100% be an even bigger bus problem with his suggestion. They need to ban bussing all together.
There is a rework to Global chat coming soon. They previewed it during the KR Winter Showcase. ETA is this summer in Korea, probably in the Fall for NA/EU.

The not getting rewards if you start over a raid is a great idea but then it may also help bussers make a TON of gold which hurts SG so unfortunately I don’t see this happening :(
I played at launch. I am a level 50 scrapper 1260 gear level or something like that. Came back a month ago to get back into it and have no idea on where or what to do. Noone talks to me and I can't get help. So many different situations and things to do Is so overwhelming. Spent three days remembering stuff and then a friend asked me to get back into WoW.

Great take on everything. I think these are all very fair and level headed opinions. Even myself as someone who played on release but then stopped playing for over a year coming back was very overwhelming. So much so that when I restarted I used jumpstart server but still played through the whole game instead of immediately powerpassing.

Jail problem can be solved easily if there were more people who play the game and there are more players who are willing to do progging. It became a problem when there's little to no lobbies that are progging and these mokokos who have no idea about the raid started to jump into HW lobbies and create a disaster. People start to gatekeep harder and harder so they have positive raid experience and mokokos who have no shame to lie about their exp complain ppl are gatekeeping.
I personally usually just soft gatekeep and try to get low roster ppl to join if they have right engravings and gems, but just in last week I got jailed in akkan g3 and clown card run g3. It just feels awful that people I took out of generosity just stab me in the back by lying about their exp and just want to get carried without learning the raid. This week I will gatekeep hard so I don't get jailed like last week.

Hi, so how much total $ did you spend in this game?
My experience as a returning player (I played until vykas raid). The elgacia powerpass makes you be unaware of alot of the lore. which is a major bummer. Another bummer is the valtan/vykas content is almost non existing outside of card runs. So all my characters are not allowed to join in. So I have no clue how to get them relevant again if there is no content for them to do beside chaos/guardian.
are cards important for a support? just started playing again since launch and i have no idea what to look for
Yeah later on it gives % bonus damage to the three other people in your party, but if you're still at the start it just gives you extra HP which scales with some of your abilities I think. Google lost ark nexus and select your class they go through what card set you should use depending on your progression among other things.
I did the power pass and got 3 characters to brel when the event happened....then I quit for 5 months 😂 there was so much information as a new player, I would casually watch streams and learn about stuff, after some time i finally felt comfortable enough to come back and play again...cards and engravings and the raid mechanics....it really felt like Amazon didn't want me to play when I first joined 😂....I'm having more fun now, I finally cleared brel first 3 gates....but it's definitely been a very very slow time to learn everything

Please listen to the good ideas. Allow reseting gate progress if stuck in a gate, and create a sherpa system. A system where people will get rewards for teaching others. Make a system where if people are looking to learn a raid it puts them in a form of chat where a sherpa will be notified once enough people that want to learn are registered. Then these people can communicate a day and time. From there the people learning will get a way to rate and confirm the sherpas help. This way people bussing do not abuse this.

This is a problem I've had starting to play with a friend in Guild Wars 2. Content skip tickets and such that put you straight to the endgame gives you that feeling that makes you not want to play the game anymore. I didn't know anything about what or why I was doing them, needless to say, I didn't play anymore.
I'm one of the people that played the game on its American release. However, I stopped after 4 months because it made me feel like I have to play every day to not miss out on rewards (correct me if I'm wrong, please). Now, I've been looking for a pretty good reason to play it again, because tbh, I like the character classes and I would probably just play it with a casual approach. I'm planning to make a new character, go back to zero, and explore more, rather than rushing my way to max lvl hehe
that's the way to do it - take your time! and we're getting more updates like solo raids in the summer!

I started playing on the Slayer release on SA and start over on Souleater release on NAE, I approuch the game in a very similar way, taking my time and I agree with pretty much all your points. Is nice to have someone giviging a real new player experience. I think they can invest more time on the Story Express for new players with the Mokoko Jump-Start Event and Mokoko Express, and maybe with the Horizontal express too. All the tools are there, rework the old abyss dungeons to be relevant, I still do Oreha and Argos for Cards and potencial books. The orbs mechanics for me was easier to do on Valtan because I learn a similar mechanic on Brel Knight guy in the Abyss Dungeon.
I 100% agree with the Jail Reset idea, the reward could be only outside the raid (which you already can get the box latter) if you get the box for the gates you cleared, you can`t reset, if you reset, you dont get the reward until you clear again.
Funny that Most of the solutions they have already the systems for it, just need to put together.

@@revyll Agreed. It's like a goldilocks zone. Still have to do the story, so it takes time that you COULD spend money on a power pass, but you don't have to waste time catching up with all the honing to the end game up to South Vern. I did the whole build-up-alts-and-hone thing in the beginning of the servers, and it frankly sucked and took away from the flow of the story. I loss roughly a year away from the game, but doing the story express felt pretty good when I came back, and I got to enjoy the story a bit more even if I knew most of it.

I've always been amazed of how fast you progressed and learned the game, I've been playing for around a year now and I'm progging akkan too haha.
I feel like many people is biased for the bad reputation that the game has, but in my case I'd say I haven't had much issues. Sure the game has its problems just as every other game, but if you like the game itself, then you can find your way around the harsh stuff and have fun doing other content. The game offers a fair amount of activities besides raiding.
I used to be amazed too but then I stopped and thought for a second: he doesn't let the failure stop him, he tries to learn, he's not just crying about the game, he's having fun. Being willing to try something and not caring--or not letting it stop you--if you fail REALLY goes a long way. Not just in games, but in life too. I feel like he just has a healthy mindset and a view on things, which I respect greatly.

Lost Ark was one of the games I was most hyped for but I absolutely hated doing all the island/boat stuff and the card collecting. I work odd hours and it was so hard to make it to those timed events or spawns. I just gave up on the game after that. Did it change at all?
it did - the new 'horizontal express' just came out, so nearly all of the important runes & skill points are MUCH easier to get. there's a new island matchmaking system so it's much easier to do islands with players during off-hours. it's a perfect time to start back up

the "Jump Start" server is gone, but this upcoming Wednesday we'll have a new event that will get you plenty materials to catch up and a horizontal express for your skill points and cards! i think this event will actually be better than Jump Start so it's the perfect time!
Im a new player with about 70 hours amd i love the game but people see i dont have alot of the good gems or engraves so im heavy gate kept

man keep just talking well about lost ark, cuz it deserves it rly deserves it, is a bit a chore, but u dont have to, u can play it chilly, is a bit annoying the gatekeep, but the game quality,,, the effort and the details they put in the game is HUGE so this is an mmo that deserves
Man, I wish I still had this positive and good spirited outlook on the game. Feels like years ago
I know this doesn't belong to the "new player experience" but I still want to mention this; The end-end game and your vertical progression is unfortunately heavily rng gated. Getting a very good bracelet, getting BIS elixiers, getting a 9-7 is such a frustrating experience.
Of course, you do not need this stuff to progress or clear raids (maybe exception will be the upcoming Thaemine Hard unnerfed) but if you are someone who compares his character to others then be warned.
Even the honing system after 1620 can be very very frustrating. Some people will just have better tap rng and this can easily create gaps and leaps of weeks, if not months of grinding between players who basically were at the exact same point in the game.
Imo the best progression part of the game was back in the Valtan-Vykas and Clown days. You do you raids and everyone get's the same amount of materials to progress with the gear.
best part is deletion of jails...

Getting cards now is very easy. Just cant miss the events.
Theres already a system in place to allow you to reset raid gates. we have it now in extreme valtan. Why they dont make this system possible for every raid? Ask SG.

Does it matter? You should play and see if you like it. If you don't you can stop playing. No harm, no foul. 👍
yea that shouldn't even be a concern, it's essentially free if you play at your own pace and take advantage of the events
Real money zero. The current breaker event gets you to 1600 at a much lower cost. Its the gems and cards that will give you grief.

Skipping to the end game is bad design for newer players. The issue I have is that it can potentially take 18 hours of story before a newer player actually plays with anyone. Older content needs to to be somehow still relevant for older players too.
I don't think that's 18hrs to skip everything until tier 3 but it takes 100hrs on average to complete the story and get into tier 3.

I would love a separated matchmaking queue where the requirements would be something like 2 or 3 engravings, full lvl 3/4 gems and a card set equipped (without awakenings). A very basic filter anyone can get within a week or two of playing

This would be fine for the early raids b ut wouldn't work for anything past Brel. TBH, I don't think it would work for clown either. The enrage timer would murder you.
Well done, a review from an actual new player that has gone through the entire game from start to finish and can actually make a review video. I even saw you try out prokel a while back as well.
So many people that make these "new player" review videos that i've seen so far have not touched end game raids at all

i try lost ark and already spent 200h in game. when i try to get into legion raid, my monkey brain cant keep up with like 100 mechanic per boss plus i have no friend also people in game is just dont want to deal with new player. so i just fucking give up why i playing game like doing homework

First thing any new player notice about lost ark is thay this game has so many haters !! Is a kinda love/hate relationship , becuse normally haters just leave and forget , but not about LA , they will never forget lol

did you not watch the video? jump start showered us with card packs and i did most of my horizontal & all mokoko challenges
New players should buy high roster account with LOS at least 18 or better 30 to start the game. Do not fresh start, they gatekeep you with newbie roster level and card sets even though you have cleared title.
This wont help. Most players know a imposter when they see one. When you die to the dumbest thing or heal the boss, the result will be the same.
@@30kGames at least u can try the raid once, but just do the lower tier raid. People can carry u even though u died.
Pretty good overview!! Hope this reaches some mokokos out there and motivate them to give the game a chance, then if they don't like it so be it, at the very least they are not told from someone else that it sucks for 'xyz' reasons but they just realize that it's not for them themselves.
My opinions for the jailing issue and rested raids/alts:
if you are allowed to reset most likely people are gonna undercut the first gates in order to bus them for cheap prices and then reset to do it all over again, you could add a timer in order to 'kinda' prevent this, but at this point it just make it so you clear the raid and get rewards by doing all the gates in the same session without exiting the raid, basically making all raids just one gate, the other soultion would've been to let you enter any completed gate at any given time but at that point you really should prevent bussing to be legal, even though it could probably lead to a lack of customers by allowing infinite bussing, so it's going to be a war of undercuts from bussers, I would say that there's not really that many reasonable solutions besides balancing the raid to be a singular instance...
Rested raids could be an option even though I would really prefer to not be dependent on alts (it's never gonna happen, but I would really prefer it this way) and I guess reworking oldest content would be an actual improvement in order to not only get to try older content that is currently dead, but for progressing without the needs of alts since most of the people are playing alts...
The big turnoff from people that I tried to invite is that "it's too grindy" realizing that every game in the planet is as grindy as YOU want it to be... If this game would've not been so alt centered in order to stock up your gold currency it would've retained a lot more people, it would've also lead to less burnout and a more casual approach of the game for a more generic audience... they wasted game potential for greed and ended up with less player than they could've had. At least that's my opinion maybe I'm wrong and the game really is bad and we are just exceptions, who knows.

About the jail problem, they could make it so characters way above the item level required for the raid (bus drivers) can't repeat already cleared gates but the others can

I want to be able to start playing this game but is it gonna be even possible for me to find people to do like early raids like argos/the guardian raids etc? the inability to find groups in a timely manner or learn the game is what has been stopping me from playing it
yea - there are A LOT more players at your level than you realize, it just doesn't seem like it with the LFG system. throw up lobbies and you'll find players quicker than you think
