    Slayer Hippy wrote one of the best ever PI songs "Hangover Heart Attack" . His drumming Made the songs much better!! "War all the time", and "feel the darkness" would sound a lot different without this man's amazing drumming talent. RIP Mr. Steve Hanford you were one of the all time greats.

    I was labelmates on Alchemy with this band (I was in SACRILEGE BC) and a MAJOR fan before they signed to Alchemy, and these motherfuckers helped us get our masters back from Victor.
    Most real people, most understanding people, most fucked up peopler, but most TRUST WORTHY people in the world.
    I miss this guy so much.

    The dude was a beast on drums, my fave next to Chuck Biscuits. Seemed very intelligent who could have dug Bowie and Slayer at the same time. Yet very sensitive, handling a bunch of inner demons. Very common to the artists who speak their minds and bare souls because that is the only way they live and create. He was supposed to play with Eric Wagner's (ex-Trouble) Skull. RIP Steve, thank you for your music. Best punk rock and hardcore band ever! Amazing piece of interview, cheers guys, it was a real pleasure.

    Hands down the best hardcore drummer ever. Well maybe next to Chuck Biscuits. I wonder if he had any idea how many young punk rock drummers he influenced. I was one of em. Nuff said, nuff respect RIP.

    7th grade - Steve puking off Jessa's front porch - speed? - I'd barely even heard of speed at that point. Fernwood and Grant were breeding grounds for punk rock back then. Steve! Damn heroin...

    'Put on.....?...Vanilla ice'. Two song later they were converted (not all, but most). Steve & I shared some same struggles with addiction. I'm glad we both FINALLY got it rite. RIP 'THE SLAYER HIPPY'

  • @sisterdiggins

    Steve was too damned smart for PI and the Portland past. People want to be nostalgic, but he wanted to move forward. It is really unfortunate that certain people put him on mute , but that was convenient in the purpose of carrying on a legacy. He had more talent and vision than old Portland could handle and it is a shame he was not taken seriously at home, but he was worldwide. He was just getting started and his production skills were over the top and in demand. What really killed him was how people treated him. This bit should have been included in the documentary because it is the truth, but even old punks don’t want to hear the truth. It’s standing in line for an ice cream cone while trying to pick your king through emojis. Steve is dead and I am sure some people don’t care.

      This really hits hard and I know you were closer to him than anyone. Me? I'm just a fan! The manner in which he was cancelled by the band and seemingly Jerry in particular stuck so badly in the craw. I think we all know that Steve pulled some stuff in darker days that maybe burned those bridges (FTD to Epitaph???), but a band so entrenched in fucked up business over the years surely could have found reparations somehow? Steve getting out of jail should have seen the door back into that band reopen (if he wanted it) and they could have been a true force again, rather than the sad Rebellion-fed greatest hits jukebox that saw out their final years

    • @sisterdiggins
      @sisterdiggins 3 роки тому +2

      @@SEAHAM74 some people didn't want that door open . Long story , lot's of drama. Steve tried with an open heart and apologies . Too much bad blood with certain individuals and skewed versions of stories.

    Poison Idea: the kings of punk! I can relate to every single word Slayer Hippy told us. He is my brother! This band was a part of my punk rock socialization. In over 35 years of my punk rock, I've organized many DIY concerts and festivals and kicked the shit out of cops and Nazis. I'm 52 now and still a mohawked punk. Peace, love and anarchy from Germany!
