Crass created more than music, they created a generation, we might be small, we might be almost senior citizens now, but we ended up having a cultural impact. A very important band.
Absolutely agree with that, with crass it went beyond just music,it was a movement that inspired and made a lifestyle for vast amounts of folks,I know crass had a big influence on me and many bods that I know or knew,I remember getting pulled aside once at school for having crass lyrics on the front of my R E book, there's a place near mine, that does free veggie meals, showers, haircuts etc,I've been in for haircuts once or twice, turned out it was eve libertine from from crass doing em, and penny Rimbaud was one of the servers there, she's really nice and it was good to talk with her about the old Anarcho days, the fact that people are still talking about crass all these years on says it all to me.
Great daze, started off with pistols , damned ,SLF ,subs reggae an dub , then dial house came along , after jail we went to see crass & hawkwind at Stonehenge , the punks met the hippies , we taught them to Hotwire cars , they turned us on to acid and kindness
Crass just wont go away. Even 40 years on from their last gig in Aberdare south Wales, the ticket also featuring Annie Anxiety & Flux of Pink Indians, remains in an old photo frame left on the shelf.
Still got mine from back then.Went to see them and the poison girls at Bearsden town hall in 1979 but the gig got raided by the police and shut down before crass got on.fkn gutted. Also a copper spat in my face that night.cnt.
Crass was anarchy in full armour . An artful explaination of the fact that no one on earth is truely free . To quote 'the last poets' " planet earth for all its worth , Is a jail without no bars !"😊
Yeah, I first saw Crass at the 1980 100 Club gig in London with Poison Girls and Flux. It blew my mind. A tiny little venue filled with video screens, massive speakers and banners that was just an assault on my senses. I saw Crass a few times after that too and they were always fucking amazing.
Also notable was Steve's chance meeting of Annie Anxiety Bandez during his stay. She shortly made her way to Dial house and history was made. Great video,I appreciate your work.
The picture you have for the Wild Bunch is of the Bristol (UK) based Wild Bunch. They didn't form until 1982, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't them playing in The CUANDO, or anywhere else with Crass.
I've watched afew of your punk themed vids. Just noticing you're pretty small. Keep up the great work. This sort of oddball reporting from that old scene really fills a niche in a saturated genre. Keep it up.
Never knew Crass played in the USA. Speaking of which unfortunately I missed Steve Ignorant performing like an hour away from where I live because the show was in the middle of the week and I work mornings.
@@SweetJimmyNetwork to be honest I was 13 my mates dad ran the pub ,back in the day you could get in young but as his dad ran it we where all good,I remember it being a bit scary lots of black stencil flags, punks in all black very militant when they were playing, but unlike anything else I've ever heard, totally individual, exiting, lots of crowd participation of singing along scary but also me and my mate felt safe , didn't see the subs had to get home a couple of miles down the road ,but saw crass amazing ❤️🇬🇧🇮🇪🍀
Kia ora hello from Aotearoa new zealand and a STINKY GRUMPY OLD PUNKROCKER (54) but who's counting 😂 not me i forget how many times I've used my fingers and toes so after twenty I'm stuffed if i was from the south island I'd be able to count to twenty five at the least but I'm not so don't have extra toes or fingers for adding things up
They were really hit or miss. Every now and then, a juicy riff or melody would emerge that was, if nothing else, utterly original. They were definitely an irritant, proudly so. Y'know: punk rawk
That was recorded and released within days of the Falklands War and was a reaction to it. Crass may not be your speed but it totally made sense at the time

Hi Jimmy, I just saw your great video which was so unique and full of unheard details. Thanks a lot!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Brendan is a research monster.
Feeding was a phenomenal album, I bought it 42 years ago and still have it.
So have I. I got the one on Small Wonder Records with Reality Asylum censored but with a cassette of Asylum .
@@DOMSKYTRANCE Excellent, I actually saw Crass live at Perth Lesser City Hall back in 81 if my memory serves me correctly, good old days.

Crass; The epitome of genius !
Nuff said !
Lovely
Well done! Greetings from Gothenburg Sweden.
Welcome!!
Very interesting piece of work. Thanks for the memories. Anarchy and peace to you.

I saw Crass in Glasgow, Scotland, around 1979 - 1980. It was more like an art installation than a rock concert.
I'm so jealous of you i wish I could see them (I wasn't even alive then)

I seen a pic of Stiv Bators in CBGB and theres a CRASS symbol on the wall behind him. This was 1979?
Great UA-cam channel, I love your attention to detail.

Kick ass!!
Love the visuals! Crass is still amazing. Still pissed people off 😂
Hardly anyone in the UK had heard of Crass in 1978 no wonder nothing happened as a result of Crass playing in NY in 1978.
Never knew Crass played in the USA. Speaking of which unfortunately I missed Steve Ignorant performing like an hour away from where I live because the show was in the middle of the week and I work mornings.
Most punk rock story ever

Dude, if ya need info on the French Punk scene, hit me with a PM.
That would be terrific. I can't figure out how to PM you here. Find me on Facebook @JimCook
Please do this!
@@SweetJimmyNetwork same here, i don't think there's any sort of private messaging on yt which is ridiculous.
Sub #478. Good s#it.
Crass never played in USA in 1978!!!
Yes they did!
Interesting politics , light on talent .
It woz not about Talent tho…..too freakin’ noisy for even me tho.Prefered Conflict )))
Such a shame that Ignorant has become such a hypocrite.
In what sense?
I still have a single by Crass from the early 80s-something about sheep farming in the Falklands. What a crappy band.
