Incredible time! I did my first 100km in 5:29 and I was absolutely destroyed. Waiting for my new skate set-up to come in and attempt again for a better time. Thank you for posting these videos, it's a great inspiration 🙏.
At the age of 49 I've just completed my longest ever skate of 2.07km. To be fair, it's the first time I've ever skated. Only one fall. Loved it. Onwards and upwards! Love the style you top skaters have.
@FelixRijhnen Do you consider high cuff boot to be a no way solution for long distance ? Viktor Thorup consider they shouldn't be used for long distance skating. I am really talking about long distance, not racing. I am a downhill inline skater (15 years) and have a fitness urban freeskate background of 20 years. I am now lurking on low cuff speed boots. But having no ankle support scares me a lot for eating miles. I am also a cyclist (audax and touring), so I am really into lots of miles. Waiting your opinion !
Actually there are some really good high or medium high cuff skates out there. For me ley is the room or motion in your ankles. If you can still bend enough and just enjoy the extra support of the cuff there’s nothing wrong with that. If you are looking so shave off some time than you probably want to go away from a high cuff and slowly built down to a medium cuff boot.
I’m so jealous of those gorgeous, endless roads and lack of traffic on them. What a skaters dream!!! Here in Australia, the country roads are that rough exposed aggregate and drivers here would more often than not try and purposely run you off the road of not near kill you. At the very least, you’ll only be verbally abused for daring to use “their” road. 🤦🏻♂️
Doesn’t sound very nice! It’s not perfect in Germany but if you know the right spots and can accept the occasional angry motorist you can have a good time
@@FelixRijhnen1 no it’s not very nice unfortunately. Contrary to what’s usually said, the average Aussie (guy) can be a really @sshole. That said, we do have some good bikeways and beach promenades to skate, so not all bad, but country roads are definitely off limits unlike the videos I see of you and the other powerslide guys training on. Anyway, keep the awesome videos coming Felix! Please 🙏
i think my longest distance is probably around 32km, i feel like i could’ve gone longer but it was getting late😅 i usually skate with my parents as escorts on open roads so skating inside a closed neighborhood by myself (as i did that day) gets boring😪
I did 124 km on my old Rollerblade 90mm lightning 6 model. Want to get a better setup and try for 150 next season . Not sure what skate to get. Want to have a brake on them because the trail I'm on is short it has 4 roads I have to slow down or stop at . To do 124 km I have cross each one 22 times my wheels would be shot in no time if I didn't. Do you have any suggestions. I was only going for 64 miles because I'm 64 years old got a little more and know I can do better with the right setup. Got the maximum edge 3w 125mm but they hurt narrow fit I have wide foot
Felix, Wonderful video. I watch your form, try to get a mental image and then imitate it when I go out. I really like your threshold video. Your music choices are very nice and I wonder if you could list your artists/songs so I could listen to more. Best wishes during these tough times and keep skating. Greg
Nice video, as a cyclist I was curious about the speed you could sustain on the road alone. It seems Strava is not used much by skaters or maybe I didn't find the right ones

I am just about to start my journey of fitness through skating. i have my 3 wheel set up and am looking forward to getting back on skates (used to do aggressive). I am pleasantly surprised to see that it is possible to keep reasonable pace with a bike. Do you have any tips to help with the transition to longer distance skating?
Even if you don't have speed skates you can incorporate a ln efficient push and good body positioning. You can do a double Push with 3 wheeled skates. When I switch between my speed and urban skates the difference in cuff height is what lets me get low and fast in the speed skates, you just can't get the same push with the high urban boot I also have to eat a lot, so pay attention to food intake. If I were even doing a 20 mile skate I'd need to being power bars and gels
Thanks for the advice, been an interesting 4 week journey so far. For the past 2 weeks I am up to doing 10k every other day and just beat my time at 36min 54 sec. Iv lost 12 pounds with diet and skating. Just changed my wheels and bearings aswell. What a difference in feel over different surfaces. Training up for 20k at start of August.
What’s the longest distance you ever skated?
You have to come to France for Rollathlon 100km now!
My PB in long distance is 535km in a 24hr race ;)
Haha you beat me easy 😂 Big respect!
About 60km, my legs were dead haha. Loved the video. Stay safe, hope you can get out and skate still!
Awesome!
Damn you’re a machine! I think after 200 I would have no technique left 😅
Respect, that’s amazing! I always thought Skating would be slow but you’re skating as fast as I am riding my roadbike!
well it is speed skating you can go fast by skating techniques and strength
In Japan, I can't skate on public road.😢
It looks so fun. I wanna skate there! lol.
Have you tried in seoul? Similar japan

Wow, if you add that it is illegal to skate on open road this could be a perfect description of what's the situation in Italy 😑
