      ardiseschenberg. How did you know it was the latch? The trunk won't open on my 2014 CRV. It happened when the trunk closed down on the edge of a blanket. I was able to remove the blanket but was no longer able to open the trunk. Does this sound like a stuck latch & not the actuator?

    Thanks for taking the time to show us how you did it. Very helpful and saved me some money. One small addition was that after I did all you said, I still couldn't open the door as the deadlock was on. I found an inch long bit of white plastic shaped like a letter "E" which you can just see at 05:38 in the film. This goes up and down to unlock the deadlock.

      @@bobcrowley625 hi, thanks for your comment, I'll be honest you most likely won’t get it off without breaking that middle clip. But it doesn't make much difference if it is broken because it still feels sturdy enough. The deadlock is a double lock by pressing your keys twice. Some car have this feature.

    To open the rear door on the right of door is a rubber bung. Pull it off, stick your finger inside and push up on the little lever in there.
    It's kinda in the middle of the gubbins in there. Gently pull the trim straight towards you or ideally use a long trim lever to get behind the plastic clips.

    • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  Рік тому

      The 2010 had some wiring issues, where sometimes it would lock and sometimes it wouldn't. Do you hear anything click when you dubble press the key fob or put the key in the door and turn it twice? If you hear nothing it could be wiring if you do hear a click it could be the actuator. But your cheapest options would be to check all fuses and swap the actuator first.

    Luckily for me , half the time it would lock... the other half it wouldn't.
    Since I was able to open the door and had the insight from your video I was able to do it in about 45 minutes without destroying a single clip.
    Thank You for sharing this information!, it pretty much was all business and not 45 minutes of fluff like most people try to stuff in for extra viewing time, the only downside was the intro/outro music was a bit loud... I have an hellacious audio system on my desktop, and when turned up to hear your narration when it went to exit it blasted me out of my chair and rattled the walls.
    Keep up the good work, and if I might suggest... maybe consider audio leveling the video audio. Shoot... now yo have me thinking. Maybe I need to make a audio leveling plug in for UA-cam/Edge/Chrome!
    Cheers!

      Thanks for your comment, gled it was helpful. I have since noticed that the intro/outtro was a bit loud and I did changes on most of the newer videos. Unfortunately we need to add fluff to videos to make videos 10 mins or more so that youtube will promote and suggest it. Plus the youtube algorithm likes longer videos and will suggest them more to viewers, to keep them watching the platform and it also helps youtubers to show people their personality so if they like the youtuber then thay are more likely to come back for more videos.

    @GPTV2020. The trunk won't open on my 2014 CRV after the edge of a blanket got stuck when I closed the trunk. I was able to remove the blanket but then the trunk would no longer unlock. Do you think this is a jammed latch instead of a bad actuator?

    • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  Рік тому

      I would say the actuator could be gone now because of that. I would get someone inside and outside opening by the handle and pushing from the inside first before buying the actuator. It could be just jammed but I'd reckon it is the actuator.

    Also thanks to Tim (Bateman) as I found that having removed all the panels and activated the lever as per 5:15 in your video, the door was still locked.
    I went back to the video and read through the comments and saw Tim’s and with one click, the door opened.
    I am now at the point of ordering a new actuator but just a quick question, there isn’t a fuse controlling this is there? Be a shame if that’s the problem.
    I am doubtful because the rear window and the other four doors still work so I am figuring, if there is a fuse, it would control these as well.

    Hi Gavin! Thank you for this video. Once I opened up the trunk I discovered that the actuator and the metal mechanism that it is supposed to be attached to we're not attached to the inside of the trunk like it is supposed to be. I reattached the two actuator components to themselves with screws I got at a hardware and reattached it to the trunk itself, but it still does not work. Does that mean that the actuator is bad? The metal half of the actuator does not seem to respond well to the trunk handle which makes me wonder if that has gone bad.
    Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    • @GPTV2020
      @GPTV2020  Рік тому

      It sounds like it yes, but it could be a different problem like a dead fues or if you wanted to remove one of the actuators from a different door on your car, and test that one on the wiring in the boot/trunk to see if it is the wiring first. Hopefully this will help.

      72115-S5A-A01 is the part number that comes up for them, but they are all different in shape. Use this website to find your part number. partsouq.com/
      Then Google that part number, and just to be sure take yours out and make sure the one you order is the same shape as your one.

      It's probably the actuator, remove all the panels from the door so you can see the latch then try to open it and buy a new actuator replacement.

      It also could be a fuse so check them first, its the cheapest option.
