Angela Winbush is truly an amazing singer! She broke up with Rene and went solo (a lot of drama apparently), and it was good for us, because she dropped some really good hits that showcased just how good she can really sing! Like, "Your Smile", "Angel", "You Had A Good Girl".
Drama is an understatement. There’s a great article from 1988 I just read from the LA Times. She claims he was violent with her. He admits they argued but denies hitting her.
One of my top five R&B songs of that era. Their other hits "I Love You More" and "You Don't Have To Cry" were just almost good. However, Angela Winbush doing her solo hit "Angel" showed her to have one of the unique and spectacular voices of that era. Thanks to whoever recommended this great cut.

At best it seems a bit of chest pounding. Of course, I didn't make it part of any comment involving European's, did I? But I will say the entire passive/aggressive insult and backhanded compliment, typical of the European persona of superiority while at the same time being blind to it, says more about you than me. Jay & Amber, for great 1950’s songs check out Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers "Why Do Fools Fall in Love", "Goody Goody" and “The ABC's of Love“!!! Frankie was age 13/14 when recording these doo-wop hits!! Diana Ross did a cover of “Why Do Fools Fall In Love” in 1981.
Jay and Amber, Rene and Angela’s music was in heavy rotation during my overnight shifts several months ago when I first discovered your channel. I was obsessed with them and Atlantic Starr during the early to mid 80s. You’ll love ‘I Love You More’, my favorite. Also, ‘Angel’ ‘’You Don’t Have To Cry’ ‘My First Love’ ‘Your Smile’ ‘Imaginary Playmates’
Dance floor would play this then ''Just be good to me'' Cool smooth dancin' could show your potential playmate, that night, that you could control yourself as well as go wild, because we all know, your moves on the dance floor reflect your moves between the sheets. Lots of kicking and twisting here. LOL !!!!
80's music is so unique. The genres expanded with the addition of the synths. I'm so thankful I was young during that time. There's never been another decade like it before or since. I don't think it CAN be repeated.
Rene and Angela were so so good and this was and still is one of my favorite songs - they had several hits that are all in my playlist. Angela's voice is one-of-a-kind.
You guys picked a winner with this gem, you really break down all aspects of the vid, clothes, rhythm, message in the song, just great. 2 other greats ones from the '80s are "Heaven Sent" by bassist Stanley Clarke with vocals by Howard Hewitt from Shalimar, and " First True Love Affair" by Jimmy Ross, both heavy on the bass for a bass freak like me. Great review guys.
Another duo to listen to is Alexander O'Neal and Cherrelle (pronounced Shuh-rell). Please react to "Saturday Love" first, and then "Never Knew Love Like This".
When I hear Saturday Love I'm instantly transported to my Army days and a club I used to go to in Augsburg Germany named the Regent. The DJ there played Saturday Love every night because it never disappointed. Who's better than Alexander O'Neal? No one!
René and Angela is one of my favorite duos. Back in the day i used to have their first and second vinyl albums. Guys you should check out "Everything We Do", Imaginary Playmates" and "Come My Way" which years later was recorded by The Isley Brothers when she was married to Ronald Isley, she also produced, played keyboard and sung backing vocals on the IB's album "Spend The Night", the title track worth a listen.
Yes the 80s was my era that brings back so many memories when times were so much simpler and the song lyrics had so much meaning and you could understand and relate to ,
their album "Street Called Desire" is fantastic but it's so sad they started having trouble getting along and stopped working together. They'd also started working as producers for other artists..
Hearing this terrific jam makes me then think that you two would love Yarbrough & Peoples and songs like "Don't Waste Your Time", "Don't Stop The Music", "Wrapped Around Your Finger", "I Wouldn't Lie" and "Heartbeats" another great duo and new artists for you. Again I suggest The S.O.S. Band not a duo but a great band. Start with "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" a great rabbit hole.
Yes! The SOS Band they would love. I saw them in concert in the 80's. They were awesome. I am a huge fan. "Weekend Girl", "Just Be Good To Me", "No One's Going To Love You", and "The Finest." All bangers they should be listening to.
I'm so happy you guys got to this duo. I've been trying for Angela Winbush's song "Angel" for Female Fridays for almost a year, it seems. She has such a wonderful voice. Rene' and she were a great duo but she's awesome as a solo artist too.

Also, ‘Angel’ ‘’You Don’t Have To Cry’ ‘My First Love’ ‘Your Smile’ ‘Imaginary Playmates’
80's suggestions - "Solid" by Ashford And Simpson. "Zoom" by Fat Larry's Band.
Dance floor would play this then ''Just be good to me'' Cool smooth dancin' could show your potential playmate, that night, that you could control yourself as well as go wild, because we all know, your moves on the dance floor reflect your moves between the sheets. Lots of kicking and twisting here. LOL !!!!
I Love This Song!!! Thanks for reacting to one of my favorites 💜
Check out Angela Winbush other classic tracks like Angel. She is one of the best vocalists in R&B,she has a wide vocal range.
Love this kind of music 🎶🎶🎶🎶
80's music is so unique. The genres expanded with the addition of the synths. I'm so thankful I was young during that time. There's never been another decade like it before or since. I don't think it CAN be repeated.
Rene and Angela were so so good and this was and still is one of my favorite songs - they had several hits that are all in my playlist. Angela's voice is one-of-a-kind.
sample was used in foxy brown feat jay z song, "i'll be"
I don't know how anyone can be an 80's music fan and never heard this song, not even once in their lives?😮😂
Finally YOU REACTED TO THIS CLASSIC!!! 🤘🤘🤘 TRUE EXAMPLE OF SYNT POP AND A LOT OF BASS which was the staple of every 80s song.
No one!
Yes they were the perfect Duo . They both have great singing career especially Alexander O'Neal has some bad jams out . Especially the song Fake ❤
That is a banger of a song
Wow!!! Forgot about this jam. Played the heck outta this back in the day. 😊
Nothing like it... that vibe. Electronic bass. And that soul jammin funkiness.
Yes the 80s was my era that brings back so many memories when times were so much simpler and the song lyrics had so much meaning and you could understand and relate to ,
The year I graduated high school! Everybody was crankin’ this song on the sound system back in the day!😁
One of the coldest opening riffs/tracks ever produced. Bring in the lyrics & vocals & this is a grand slam banger of a song.
their album "Street Called Desire" is fantastic but it's so sad they started having trouble getting along and stopped working together. They'd also started working as producers for other artists..
Oh yes they were good.
Listen to their other song "I love you more"
Happy Holidays to All those whom observe Peace be with you
Hell yeah! They're fantastic, but Angela's solo projects was great too. She was married to Ronald Isley from The Isley's. They did a video w/Lil Kim.
@@sergiorivas I love everything they did and every album. "You" is an underrated banger but wonderful also.
They have killer vocals.Check out "Your Smile"by Rene and Angela
Great duo. They have several hits and she had solo success. He wrote songs for Michael Jackson.
Best times. I miss them so much ❤
This song is/was such a BANGER! That baseline always pulls me in right off the top. Another good song to check out by them is “I Love You More”.
I'm so happy you guys got to this duo. I've been trying for Angela Winbush's song "Angel" for Female Fridays for almost a year, it seems. She has such a wonderful voice. Rene' and she were a great duo but she's awesome as a solo artist too.
I've been trying for as long as their channel has been up! We Angela fans need to stick together and help boost the requests here in the comment section.
Love this group and Angela Winbush as a solo artist! Please react to 'Angel' by Angela. Also 'Your Smile' by Rene and Angela!
So happy you guys are reviewing this. I love Angela Winbush. She is amazing. She can sing, write and produce. Rene and Angela are almost deep cuts nowadays.
So good being in the clubs in those days
AMEN!
Skipped rope for thousands of rounds in Boxing gyms to this song and so many great ones like it back in 1985! This song would be pumpin loud in the gyms "Boom Box" or the Roller Skating rinks on the weekends! Best of times.
Great Great Great Beat from Rene and Angela. D Train and “Keep on “ or “Keep giving me Love” great strong Beats great message Evelyn “champagne”. King another great beat “ I’m in Love”
Such a groove!!!!
rene and angela windbush was a great duo especially in the 1980's when music was such a great to just enjoying life and make you happy hearing and happy holidays and merry christmas to you both your family .
I'm surprised since you love rap you didn't hear the sample. You may be on the young side for it - but this song was sampled in Foxy Brown/Jay Z's song in the 1990s. The song was called "I'll Be". This song is a classic.
An interesting sidenote about this duo is that they produced Janet Jackson's self titled debut in 1982.Also, check out their other banger Save Your Love For Number One featuring Kurtis Blow.
Joints like these are the epitome of true R&B.
Great & Deep Soulful Song... Never heard before, but This is Great! Great Reaction You Guys! :) PS Amber... no plagiarism; I typed this before you said 'soulful', But You Did catch 'The Funk' ... :) PS PS, the Ferrari 308GT pretty much confirmed it's '80s :)
The 15 year old soul girl still in me thanks you for this classic! 🙌🏼🫶🏼
sweet soul music of the 70s through early 90s was awesome!
I recently went on a cruise on the river Thames with 80s soul and funk - absolute perfect music
The 80’s was the era of great R&B/Funk duets from Ashford & Simpson, Yarborough & Peoples, Johnny Gill & Stacy Lattisaw, Dennis Edwards & Siedah Garrett, Babyface & Karyn White. Bands like SOS Band, Midnight Star, Atlantic Starr also had great slow jams and upbeat duets.
Cannot believe this record is nearly 40 years old
Angela was mr big Ronald Isleys wife for a while....she made her wave, she produced two tracks from Janet jackson debut album.
Love this song !! And also love Angela Winbush as a solo artist. It's very nice her version of "Inner City Blues"
She did good on that remake of Marvin Gaye's song .
I was wondering when you would get to this one! Yeah; classic 80s.
One of the best 80s' dance songs is 'Yarbrough & Peoples - Don't Stop The Music'. So, so unique.
"You Don't Have to Cry" is a slow jam classic by them.
