MR GDB over and OUT!
Yes Greg back at your local Rufford Ford 😂
Why am I not surprised to see you here? Especially on this video 😂
@@benjiaj1963😂
Im sure i will catch you down here one day!
@@GDBRescueandrecovery definitely, keep up the good work 👊🏼
Honestly, this road is ridiculous Greg! Been like it for years and people never learn!
That is where most people go wrong. Thinking they need to gun it through floodwater. Slow high revs to keep the exhaust clear, is always the best way, even if it means riding the clutch. If the engine stalls, probably best not to try and restart it, while it is submerged. Hydro lock is a big problem, and will probably require a complete engine rebuild.
Never had it with flood water thankfully, not like anyone ever taught me how ot drive through flood water, it just makes sense to keep it below the bonnet and go slow/high revs, you;re right about hydro lock though it can be nasty,...Irony....had it on a diesel golf that the turbo oil seals gave up on and hydro locked it with oil, thankfully as I did not run it down the gears when it cut out, after taking the plugs out/draining system/installing a new turbo, it run great, I'm now at 240k miles, running a hybrid turbo, lots more boost etc.. the lock happened around 170k, long live the VW 1.9 PD :)
High revs and slipping the clutch is completely unnecessary when fording on tarmac, I do a lot of off roading and regularly let my truck idle in 3ft of water while hooking up winches/straps, as long as its running you will never get water ingress through the exhaust ports. It's even perfectly fine to turn it off as long as the water level is below the exhaust ports
@@PaulGSXR yes, but I was talking about if the exhaust does get submerged
All absolutely correct mate 👍
@@PaulGSXRoff roader folk often say that, and I’m sure you’re absolutely correct in that instance, but an off roader usually has a bigger engine than a little hatchback, probably diesel rather than petrol, higher exhaust exit, often also a downturned exhaust. They all make a difference, and all together make a big difference in keeping water from suffocating the exhaust🤷. Regular little car, slow speed and higher revs is the way to go.
You still need to fix that front beacon
You should get your second becon fixed on the passager side 😊😊
Absolutely fantastic 👍👍👍
Great job greg, good of you to help push the other car out of the way👌👍
, very smooth Mr GDB
Good recovery , very smooth Mr GDB
Surprised so many people try to make it thru there in cars when there's a road before it that no doubt takes u around 😂
Absolutely brilliant music
If the road closed signs were up bang goes the insurance
Big respect to you mate very professional how u dealt with that dimwit i wouldn't have even gave him the tyre😭
Nice job as always. Need to get your front beacon fixed mate
I would never buy petrol from that garage , with the tanks being covered with water regularly it will be contaminated with flood water.
be fine, will clean your intake/egr/exhaust ports/pistons etc of carbon deposits (if a turbo system recirculating air) haha...although on anything that requires high octane and is fragile then knock may be an issue that way, all depeneds on how it's been mapped. Edit: Just to add, all this E fuel is like diesel and like to pull moisture from the air, so most modern cars/ecu and/or modified with a custom map will allow for that variation.
good day GDDB as i work RRS recovery services in Doncaster it's good to see how things are done from different breakdown services and getting little tips on how to do things when recovering a vehical, great work and keep it up. just wish someone would bring out some hi viz waders lol
If you're interested, Ollyskins based near Hull supply them and organisations such as the River Stewardship Company of Sheffield use them.
Recently subscribed, very impressed by the way you do things. Always planning ahead, covering yourself by taking photos (and video of course), and talking through your decisions. Very professional sir 😁👍
… btw I was brought here by your green Audi motorway fiasco 🤦♂️, what a cock!
Ok let's go 👍👍
Most people have no idea how their car works. Don’t know that the air intake is 2” off the road and that the reason your car has stopped isn’t because the battery is wet ,it’s hydro locked and you engine (and car) is now scrap! Hence there pile in to 3ft of water at full speed and then are surprised it’s stopped and they are floating!
You video from a few weeks ago hit my recommended - If I say the Green Audi with the phone call to the police I'm sure you'll know which video I'm talking about. I'm curious why comments were turned off of that video?
Minis and floodwater.... Well I was driving home from a friend's wedding after a named storm had hit in early 2020. I was driving in my Classic (non cooper) mini, and a lorry flashed at me, sadly driving a distinctive vehicle people flash and wave a lot, so I thought it was that.
NOPE! Five seconds later I'm aquaplaning, there was a hidden dip, the lorry obviously realised I had no idea. I was doing 50, although it was a national, so I wasn't being wreckless. Poor husband went white as a sheet, as water was covering the carpets, and was like a wave "breaking" on the windscreen and I had gone into emergency mode. Said "love you" then went silent and focused... Checked seatbelts, hazard lights on, spot lights on etc to make me more visible in case I lost control, and I'm gently steering, ready for when the tyres are touching the tarmac again. I think what saved the engine was I took my feet of the pedals, so didn't force more water in. The car was fine!
I wouldn't do it on purpose mind. 😂
Excellent stuff.. what happened to the back in 30 minutes?
Never had this in all my years of driving, blew out some driveshafts on a mk1 xr2 hitting flood water mind you, kind of glad I run older modified stuff as the standard intake setup on most cars will lead to your airbox flooding, especially if you try to gun it like you're in a boat and try to create a massive bow wave, it's gonna end in tears... as others have said 1st gear, high revs, slowlt but surely keeping the bow of the water below your grille if possible.
You got a New Defender to replace the Disco 4 by any chance?
Musics better than you had 2 years ago !!
Yes has improved as time has passed 👏🏻
'ey up Greg 😎
We had flooding and there was 3 vehicles stuck in it along comesca guy in a transit we told him it was too deep he said his van could do it that was 4 vehicles stuck
Wow your subs are shooting up fast now im stuck on 35 yet 😂
37 now 😂
@kevinmet78 38 ha ha need to get creative 🤣
Always interesting to see the predicaments drivers get into but flood recoveries are the best. It amused me when you said BMWs and Minis are in the top five failures. One is rear wheel drive and the other front wheel drive but both marques are owned by the same organisation. Says it all really!
If they agreed the job and booked on, would it have not made it easier / less messing around to throw the 2nd car on the spec whilst you was there?
2 for 1 right there Gregg
Why do they try it!!!
Greg, you should have an advertisement board locafed ar Sandon Road.
Thats not if you are too busy hob nobbing with them bbc news folk tbat is 😂
Please, shorten the music intro with less volume, it is too much! Apart from that, cracking content.
I wouldn't go to that petrol station, unless you want a tank full of water...😇
When you getting the mrs back on the videos
If there are signs out saying road flooded and you drive into it and damage your car the insurance company will not pay out
Hello GDB . what is the GDB top five cars ?
Same old chestnut 🌰 car's in floods can you do something more exciting please ❤mate no offence given ❤ it's just like repeat s love your video's mate 😊❤
New engine required , copart
I can't believe people are that stupid! Correction! After 36 years in the motor trade I can actually! Some expensive bills there !
Well done for lasting 36 years mate, been a hard slog for many recently. :)
Slow and steady and youl get through that flood alot don't no and foot down and in the go🤦🏻
Fuel here is cheap? it's 2 pounds down at the richer ends for some reason
Cheaper down the road on the corner of Gaol Road too!
shame on the council for not sorting the drainage out!
It’s been like this since Ethelred 1…when he named it Staff-Ford..
Not pushing that 1 on ur own was u 😂
Why do people try to drive through flood water and it seems to be getting worse
the mad thing is the water is only 6 inches deep she obviously went screaming through at 20 mph ! not a clue how to drive
When you say wa-er do you mean water ?😂😂😂😂😂😂
My man’s a professional American.
Just an oop norf/Yorkshire accent, why say the whole word if you can shorten it a bit :-P
Should of done the audi driver for free
You got paid for the mini plus money from UA-cam for video
Skoda , No he decided to drive through a flood so he pays the price unfortunately
That’s not how a business works unfortunately. They got the customer by being nice and giving them a push 🤷♂️
What an arse of a comment 😂🙈 trucks dont run on fresh air nor does it put bread on the table doing freebies 🙄
If he can afford to drive a gorgeous Skoda, I'm sure he's got plenty saved up for roadside recovery
what a spaz 🤡
