I have 1 tank, 1 anti large mortar and 2 hellstorms, what am I doing wrong ? I have found myself in situations where everyone but Gelt and a tank were wiped out. I had to micro them so hard to win against a few groups of infantry, a lord and a hero

Why waste decades on training when you can just arm the masses?

This! This is why I play Empire and it is why Empire is one of my favorite factions to play as. However, you need more guns in your armies. Guns of the Empire is an awesome mod that adds more gun units. Nothing better than having artillery missiles fly over head towards an approaching enemy army while they are being shot at with hundreds of bullets. Brings a manly tear out of my eye due to how beautiful it is. Many of the gun units are also decent infantry units as well if the enemy even gets that close.
Captain: "General, we can't get the Kong out of their rat holes." General: "Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. Bury them in their tunnels and raze their fortresses!"
